I can honestly say I join the losing team everytime, I play hotjoins which is usually only for a 15-20 minute warmup.

Way I see it if I’m playing hotjoin with people who aren’t always as skilled as ranked players I don’t mind being handicapped, and I don’t mind when some players join the winning team to just get there daily…. if that’s how they plan on getting it they probably won’t be very good anyway…

I take it on Reaper. Unyielding Blast ain’t worth the slot on Reaper unless you’re the sort of plebeian who uses Decimate Defenses and I don’t use Staff so Soul Marks does diddly.

Just saying, I mean I know its all in good fun, but you guys sounded really critical of certain builds (like the MM necro on monday, or the rabid condi necro a few weeks ago) which some players may take offense to.

The fact that I can get in matches and win 3v1s on a puppying necro is a pretty good indicator we near leagues. I’m nowhere near ESL level, but I don’t belong playing in games like that. Leagues should fix it.

Only people who don’t like leagues are the ones who have claimed to be so good for a while now they are scared they will have a little badge that tells everyone how crappy they really are. Everyone else will be happy to be playing close to equal skilled players.

Sure it can, just have to step out of the mists from time to time. Hitting 80 is not hard in PvE and grabbing some exotics is also not hard. That’s all you need to use the arena as a perfect training ground.

I’ll play every game mode (time allowing). Never understood this obsession with never stepping out of a game mode…that’s so very limiting. If I wanted to never step foot out of small team PvP I’d play a game where that is all it had. No, I’m not great at it all, but I do enjoy my time.

Stats will still be different…. I mean you can get close, but it’s not the same.

I think they won’t since RS is built as hammer It will always count as weapon swap since we can’t wield hammer for it not to proc. They would need to change RS to be GS based for it not to proc when you are wielding GS and pop RS. And because it has been like this from the get go and not changed. I don’t think they will.

I always loved the spiteful talisman trait as well as the focus. Shivers is a powerful skill, and considering how reaper’s touch will interact with Decimate Defenses from the reaper line, in a 1v1 situation I personally see dagger/focus being a choice weapon set alongside the Greatsword.

Hey all in game name is S P E E D Starr mostly play necro but I can play Ele and mesmer as well.

I’ve been rolling solo for some time now, have tried a few pvp guilds but haven’t found one that I like with active good pvpers. I would like to find a team or guild that wants to compete in tourneys. I have been playing in the AG tourneys almost every week and I’ve been doing pretty decently as a Free Agent but I would really like to get on a pre existing team with solid pvpers.

I main necro, so of your looking for me to play Ele look elsewhere. I can and will switch occasionally if we need to make some alterations to win, but I am a Necro first.

Hit me up on forums or in game if interested, totally willing to do a tryout, but I won’t commit to a team until I’ve played with them for a week or so and have determined it’s a good fit for me.

I too really miss pre-trait-patch Necromancer where we were even worse and less enjoyable to play.

Was waiting for this lol, literally the only thing that was better about necro prepatch was the broken downstate damage when traited, which got nerfed a little and made baseline.

GS is just fine in PvP, with it I can generate 100% LF in 4 ability casts and about 3s. 3-5 are all solid abilities, as is Gravedigger, its just the auto attack that is awful and I just don’t really use it much.

I’m pretty sure you don’t use it much because it’s not very good…It’s a popular opinion for a reason.

Who are you fighting such as that you’re actually landing GD in any reliable way? It’s so very easy to avoid.

I get put against some relatively skilled competition and I was able to land GS attacks. Just took some getting use to when to switch to GS.

Ran into some chrono reaper duo tonight was pretty amazing. A class with true invulns might be able to survive it but necro cannot.

I actually took corruption in a new cele build I was trying. Cc, cloud, sol, ps, plague. D/w, staff. Spite,curses,sr. The results aren’t half bad.

Yeah there’s no way it wouldn’t be OP if it had stab.

If there wasn’t a cele amulet everyone would be on pure bunkers with knockbacks and CC hitting each other with wet noodles just trying to sumo people off point until their theif arrives.

Speed Starr, I should note that my anecdotal data is pretty bad since I’m terrible at condi necro! People who know what they’re doing have been getting 350-400K DPG post-patch, whereas I’ve only peaked at 290K since the patch. Those numbers I gave earlier were prepatch.

The patch today? Mine was also prepatch, although it probably won’t matter too much since I don’t use a scepter. Best I’ve seen I did for dps in a match was around 900k, 350 of it was condi damage. I don’t look at my score screens very often but I happened to look at that one.

Just seems a little crazy to use a condi amulet when you can get similiar condi damage from transfers.

I average higher condi damage on my cele build…. and power damage is usually alot higher.

I find them incredibly easy targets…. but then again I play a cele necro with double generosity sigils…..

Meh, don’t really need gold for PvP. I’d they wanted to make it so the higher leagues would have a better chance at some skins I’d be ok with that

It really is so boring having to feed you word by word that which should be obvious… Nemesis did that video just to show that, for example, a condi necro isnt as bad as people make it compared to meta zerker, that the difference isnt that great compared to classes that need targeting to a certain degree (the engi did it faster because it needs zero targeting to damage the boss and has ways to avoid damage better than a necro when soloing).

Not only that but everytime he does a video criticizing the misconceptions in lfg mentality, people dare him to show solo runs as in “My d**k is bigger than yours”, which is ridiculous and has nothing to do with the lfg problems.

If this is still too hard for you to understand then listen… the problem is not in speedrunning or speedrunning mentality, but in people going to lfg, where you get random people and wanting the same standards that pro, organized, groups have when they try to break records. That’s it.

For example, waiting in lfg for the perfect team class composition 15 mins, when you could have accepted lets say a necro and a ranger, and already completed the fractal or dungeon. Or waiting for those classes and getting bad players. Usually in lfg, even if you dont use the speedrunning class composition, and assuming people are experienced, you only gain what? 1 minute or 2? If you even gain that time…

I wouldn’t consider myself an exceptional player in any way yet I’ve managed to maintain an over 50% win rate in unranked and ranked, I soloq 90% of the time. Your saying I’m either an anomaly or better than I think.

GS was a game changer in team fights, one nice time warp on a zerk reaper with stab. Good bye enemy team.

Nope, skill recharge and movement spead. Weakness effects endurance regen.

They beat FA teams by those margins, I honestly didn’t watch the rest of the tourney but I doubt they 500-150 any of the teams left by the time they played again. 500-300 is completely understandable, one big team fight win is enough to do that.

That’s not going to happen, it’s just the way seeding works across any competitive scene. If I consistently placed low in an international tennis tournament, I would always get seeded against the top players rather than being ‘given a chance’, which would otherwise result in me placing higher than I should.

Say for example you have the top team vs the 3rd best team in round one out of 16 teams. 3rd best team loses and gets placed 9-16th. Meanwhile the 12th team wins vs the 16th team in round one and wins vs the 14th team in round two and gets placed 4th. Team 12 gets better rewards than Team 3 unfairly due to the seeding.

This is why seeding is the way it is.

I know how seeding works that’s why I asked the way I did, and immediately said it’s fine if it didn’t happen ever and then continued by saying I need to get better or get myself a regular team.

In no way shape or form am I salty or complaining. I’ve played in this tourney for a while now and I enjoy every one of them.

@OP I was on your team last week when we played syn, o was also on the team that beat you guys yesterday. I understand your frustration, no one likes losing. However, you seemed to be our weak link last weak to the point where I honestly thought we could beat them if we had someone with more SPVP experience, as I understand it most of your pvp experience is from WvW.

Same with yesterday. You guys actually had quite a few strong players on your team and the rotations were solid at the beginning of the first map. But again you seemed to be a weak link. No shame in that man, I was awful the first tourneys I played in, I’ve definitely been the weak link before. I probably was my FA teams weak link yesterday tbh. But it doesn’t mean I think the better players shouldn’t be allowed to play.

And even with you and the other good players we of HD720 kitten forced an early GG. So I see no reason why you should complain about a team you didn’t even have to fight.

least the fa games were fun. The FA team that won put up a pretty decent fight against them the first game. 2nd game wasnt as good.

They are condi trap rangers with trapper runes on, the condi weapons also have built in dodges.

They have one invuln on a long cooldown and not a whole lot of stab. They won’t have stab and invuln and that many traps….

Also you do understand the reason we have the transfers is because we don’t have many cleanses or vigor or blocks….. I would love it if my necro could dodge like my ele then I might actually dodge condi bombs instead of eating them…. instead I’d rather use my dodges on CCs you know the thing that counters necros really hard.

You get the Llamas all at once. If your waiting for one for a month or so you’ll all of a sudden log in one day and have like 4 or 5… least that’s how it always seems to work for me.

Trap ranger with trapper runes, quickening zephyr and probably wilderness trait reduction…. but even then they wouldn’t be able to keep super speed up to the point your saying…. only a fresh air ele can do that.

Also I don’t think trapper runes are even in pvp… but I’m not 100% sure.

Terror over poc for damage, I’ve got alot of aoe boon corrupt and people love stab. With might and the amount of condis usually in your opponents fears will do decent damage. The build also sorta works with soldiers and zerker and in that casr you would go poc instead. You can take the heal on ds exit if you like it still works with the build. The vamp aura procs so often with this build and at some point out heals life from death depending on how often you go in DS. I know you can make life from death out heal it everytime but I’d rather not waste a trait when I might be at full health when leaving occasionally.

Sigils are pretty interchangeable as well but I liked having generosity for when I’m in plague form. Plus with all the condi spam this build can overload someone with condis very quickly.

Had a couple people ask and comment after seeing my build in game so i figured id share, im sure there are others that have been playing this or already knew but oh well.

Never really had a problem re targeting… but I had always figured that was just part of the game when dealing with stealth and clones etc. Auto retargeting players would just dumb it down….

the people that figured out what few builds to run with rev and had a decent amount of time practicing rev were ridiculous. It got to the point where i was seeing so many of them that i said kitten it and went full zerk melee reaper just so if i ever did managed to hit them it might actually do some kittening damage.

It is only guaranteed if the pet is alive and in range (and you don’t have stab, invuln, or any sort of condi immunity). Those requirements are not too hard to fulfill with bird pets in 1vs1 on even terrain – which makes taunt extremly stong in some cases, yes.

However even in the described situation the pet can be kited or killed (birds are not tanky and pets in general are very vulnerable to conditions – just wait for petswap before the burst), therefore taunt is never 100% reliable, just like everything tied to the pet. Add some ledges and aoe/cleave from multiple players and you get a pretty mediocre grandmastertrait.

Pets are rangers strengh and weakness at the same time. They can be op or completely useless. Which makes it so hard to balance.

It depends a lot on the specific situation but just like most have already mentioned Cele Ele, Mesmer, (Power) Ranger and Necro (with full DS) are usually the best candidates for 1vs1.

Pretty sure he already said this bUT it’s bugged. It’s working on invulns blocks etc. I don’t know the extent to which it works since I’m almost always on a necro… but I’m like 98% it was happening to my reaper even when I had stab up.

VP (or at the very least, Spectral Mastery) is essentially mandatory for surviving any focus fire, and even then it’s often not enough. Not to mention, there’s apt to be said about clunkiness of running out of Lf from degeneration, which interrupts Reaper skills.

Some considerations may have to be made further of it does go Baseline, sure, but the difference between the have and have not is too significant with just how much of our Life Force comes from that line alone. VP doubles the pool essentially when not hit, Spectral Armor is a huge boost, in addition to 15% more AND gluttony. The class would benefit from having it made baseline.

I had far more success (in fact, beat Grouch and Nightmare’s team in Stronghold!) with SRS Reaper, running Celestial signets with Dhuumfire. Deals fairly heavy damage due to might stacking and isnt super squish.

I was either using signets or ctd with ctd ice runes, with signets strength or hoelbrek. I wasn’t using cele though although I did try it at first before switching to zerker…. I found that it worked out better in teamfights. I have whatever team Toker was playing with a run for their money. Reaper Starr.
