S P E E D Starr #0 Necro NA or
I Am NeXeD awful d/D ele NA
Cant say one way or another, but in my experiences the builds are different some of the strategies are different.
IN MY EXPERIENCES when i did do both alot typically i had no problem beating any roamer i encountered on a power necro.
You have any suggestions on how to make ANet move on this? Because most of the competitive PvP community already gave up after about a year of trying. With no success at all.
But hey you have a game full of quality mindless PvE content. And a decent story. If only I was more into the lore instead of fighting other players. Oh well my loss I guess.
well all the people who have been so negative the past two years certainly did not help.
We. Don’t. Need. Rewards.
We. Need. A. Good. Game.
Rewards are always temporary.
sure but i dont have a lot of faith that they can make pvp fun,
the only time this game wasnt about insane burst was in beta,
it had horrible balance then but i think it was at better direction.pvpers here are used of the current play style and it wont be easy to reverse this
People new to the game prefer bunker meta because they feel like they are doing something, once they learn the game they hate bunker meta because they know they aren’t doing anything.
Burst meta is better.
Chilled to the Bone. PvP
Why the heck do you need protection on a necros well? Necros entire goal is to position in aa way that they are hard to focus. I run the power boonstrip with corrupt boon and double well meaning yes…. no Stun breaker….. and the one thing I can say for certain is where I place my wells is generally as far away from me as I can be….. okay other way around… I place myself as far away as I can from my wells. You dont ever want to be near your wells until you have full shroud and even then you want to be back out of the fight before you completely run out.
A side note…. double well is the only build I reliably out damage power warriors in every match…. their damage is insane if you are running marauder…I have single handedly wiped teams with them.
I can tell you’re lower ranked because you don’t have a thief riding your weiner.
It ain that ez playing necro bro and that’s coming form a teef main. P4 demolishes your ability to do anything.
And what rank might you be that you haven’t learned anti thief kite locations? Thieves wreck necro in 1v1 but at what point are in ever 1v1 as a necro who is actually looking at the map? Your entire job is focused around decimating team fights. If you are caught out of position on a thief thats on you not an inherent problem with the class itself.
The vast majority of necros dont understand positioning so a thief who hasn’t lost their thumbs will just demolish them by spamming 4. just an FYI I have been legend every season but this one. I got bored after being placed in high gold and went to play OW. The amount of vet players who even logged in this season was too painful I came back at the last week and played 10 games but simply put… the entire top tier community is gone. No reason to play when my win rate is 80% while watching TV
Just a side note I fear Whispering Illusions when im on my necro far more then I fear any of the ESL thieves like KAT and Toker that I would get placed against daily. A thief is generally a minor annoyance I can use my team as human shields to force them to back off. A good mesmer will moa demolish me instantly if Im not ready for it.
Theres no way your fighting ESL level players without a stunbreak on a necro i dont care how good your “Positioning” is.
I think they could, by introducing a new spec and giving the base classes some sort of buff just for using the base classalary. There would then be 3 options per class, I think it would be a little rough at first but with more options balancing might actually be easier.
i remember ppl QQ at every season for every reason they had
Q time 30min till hour
bad players
afkers
matchmaking
conditions build
power creep
bunker creepso what’s new
if the community was little bit more funnier, tolerant, patient enjoyable, this game would have developed to something which could have attracted more ppl
i usually start the game with have fun and good luck
which build r u playing
i play….
i go mid/close
i ping and call targetalmost 90% of the games i have play none did that
i mostly agree with this, its the everyone gets a trophy attitude to blame… man i would have loved to see what some of these people would do if they played a sandbox like UO back in the day. If we died we lost everything, and people complain today about losing and still being given rewards lol
Lol this is funny coming from you, considering you are always so quick to tell people its a L2P issue and that low skill floor builds arent’ effective in higher levels of play, which “obviously” means they are fine as they are.
Your little jab would have merit if he was asking for classes to have lowered skill floors or if he was asking for outright nerfs which he/she/it isn’t.

Everyone should really watch his youtube video of dh carrying (posted on his signature), before commenting here. It speaks volumes about his actual skill level and experience.
Here’s the link, in case he decides to remove it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6DGRFVbvCnk

no shortbow on a theif?….. yeah ok.
So is this officially a dead game mode or what? The rating give away ur system just gave me is nothing short of astonishing, +6 for a 4v5 win -16 to -18 for putting silvers on my team against top 25 duos. I’ll be passing the word on to a few connected friends about the current state of this game.
Enjoy the articles
Pretty much the forum equivalent of the rich kid shouting “JUST WAIT UNTIL MY DADDY HEARS ABOUT THIS!”
good usage of words there, might actually avoid getting infracted.
I keep hearing people say how easy it is to avoid the vault and that simply isn’t true in all situations. The good ones start vaulting and then shadow step at you. This makes the vault land instantly and there isn’t time to dodge roll kitten. They also like to stealth first before coming in with it. Essentially the vault thief is trash in a mid fight if he’s trying to be a bruiser about it and brawl on point but the smart ones who wait and creep around first are a guaranteed nuke to hit a team fight, usually dropping 2 or 3 players simultaneously with a single strike.
What’s broken isn’t really the damage behind bound and vault. It’s that they have parameters that allow them to enter a team fight late “when everyone is at half health” and do so in stealth and with a shadow step insta 15k bomb on every opponent at the mid point.
I’m sorry but it’s a bit broken and needs some patching. A good start would be so that none of it’s traits/runes or otherwise it’s procs, would ever work before it is in combat. It’s kind of messed up that they can build up a bunch of damage modifiers while sitting in stealth, ooc from mid and then come in with a 15k AoE nuke on point. That’s a REALLY over powered single strike attack. It’s not the staff thief build that’s broken, it’s just vault nuking. Maybe vault should only hit a maximum of 2 targets or maybe only 1.
Dunno, maybe a better way to explain this isn’t that it’s OP but rather it’s broken. Some of that power needs to be distributed in other places on the staff build, not just dumped all into 1 skill. That way the build as a whole is playable and not just used for single strike point nuking.
I’m not reading this wall of text after that first couple of sentences.
You do know that you CANNOT use other skills, including shadowstep, while vaulting…right?
Your knowledge gap is painfully obvious, as is your PvP skill and experience.
Also just something to add in here staff thieves have very little access to stealth.
oh noes hes going to ten ton hammer gw2 into the ground!
dont need someone immobilized to hit someone with axe, and cripple isnt going to help dagger as much as the immob.
Call me when they decide to poll the removal of elite specs from ranked.
Everyone who purchased HOT has access to the Elite specs. If you decided NOT to purchase HOT thats on you bub.
And what does it mean?
I 1st bough GW2 cause of Guardian original skills and Ranger as Ranger not Druid!
I paid more than u paid to buy hot and gw2. I got collectors!
The mistake is that the elite add it on existing classes and not create new ones .
Ranger is gone
Guardian is gone
And the joke with Warriors and jumping monkeys thief need to stop.
I am customer as you are the poll solution is fair demand. The HoT destroy the balance in PvP.
I am not say that before all was perfect but was more balanced that it is now!
And last but not least : If u believe that HoT is ok why are you afraid a poll ?
If HoT wins all losers like my self that use core build will kitten and decide what will do with this game. If we choose to follow we need to follow the HoT play style or we just leave this game.
The reason that many of us complain is that we were waiting some decent changes on skills which never happened.
Now is the time to clear this! Will Anet do something with this? Or will keep pretend that is doing something!
How do you know you paid more than i?
Paying more doesn’t mean jack anyway.
The Jumping monkey theives are fine and easily counterable if you just pay attention.
Warrs it would seem start off super strong at low level play but become quite difficult to play well at higher levels. Granted Elite warriors are an absolute nightmare to play against…
Hot didnt destroy balance it just changed things.
Im not afraid of a poll, im perfectly capable of playing core classes as i am HOT classes. Wouldn’t effect me in the least.
Not once have i said Core classes dont need a buff. However, if you have the ability to play an Elite spec and choose not too or choose not to purchase HOTS you are making that choice YOURSELF.
This thread truly showcases the PvP powerhouse that is NA gold tier.
I’m still laughing about this.
i know right its so funny NA is so bad hahaha omg hahah
Yes dont ever auto attack with dagger thats a horrible idea to ever auto attack with dagger much better to auto with gs.
build was broken for a while, its fine now. You can literally walk away from the vault and bound if you position yourself well… dont even need to dodge.
how would you figure out how to balance the core specs by removing the elite specs? Think about it…. removing the elite specs essentially removes the entire meta… so sure maybe the core classes get balanced with each other but no balancing vs the elite specs means theyd most likely still get smoked. The elite specs are here to stay, what they need to do give core classes some kind of Jack of all trades buff
so now the attack isnt faceroll, and now classes that have huge movement skills not ports can just constantly run away whenever they get low.
It works both ways…. take away offensive pressure and defense gets to easy.
well it looks as though almost all of your games have been played THIS season….. and honestly im super impressed and horrified you were able to play that many games in one season.
made it to plat using an all wells build. Dont worry about your teammates, let your play speak for itself.
Call me when they decide to poll the removal of elite specs from ranked.
Everyone who purchased HOT has access to the Elite specs. If you decided NOT to purchase HOT thats on you bub.
OH NOES BAN THEM THEY HAVE A MACRO!
How EXACTLY do you know they are using a macro…. i mean its totally impossible that someone could hit 4 or 5 buttons in succession very quickly right….. /facepalm.
ive been accused of using macros before….. for things like jump dodging and there is a fun ranger combo that almost insta kills people etc….. but nope im just pressing buttons…. because im not an (word that will probably get this post infracted) that uses the default keybindings… and i have a naga.

Atm, Guardian at low level, then Warrior, Thief and Druid. Thief is hard to master but when you do you kill everyone or at last become totally unkillable. The same with the Druid, you become unkillable and have even better dps and can hold the point if you need to.
If you like toe support role, a good elementalist make a team win. In a match, if a team have an ele and the other one don’t, the second one lose at 90%.Don’t chose Necomancer for any reason on this world.
Also mesmers are bad to carry, but still better to play.Thief is definitely hard to master.Spamming that dodge button can be challenging.
The vault spam theif kinda got nerfed into oblivion… you still see some but they arent anywhere near as good they were. The other dodge theif is so easy to counter if you just THINK a little bit…. The DD dodge theif can only hurt you if they are on top of you.. and they will run out of dodges if you just dont attack and kite them for a second…. sure you might lose the point for a second but its better than dying.
and the dp theif does not have infinited dodges and is the meta theif build atm…. Its actually quite difficult to play.
ok so make toughness effect condi damage, now everyone stops using condi because it cant bring down bunkers anymore…. everyon starts using toughness in combo with weakness application and protection boon…. now we just have a buncha idiots wacking each other with Pool Noodles.
I have said MM cause with minions you can achieve the highest “permanent” toughness value, not cause MM necro is the hardest class to beat.
Taking a look at https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Corrupter's_Fervor
should clarify to everyone cause thoughness shouldn’t reduce condi damage?
the mm bunker typically takes death magic, typically they take the trait transfers condis on hit
MM Bunkers are useless against smart players, kite the minions around some terrain and kill the necro after youve kited the minions away…. Once theyre minions are gone they die so fast.
They may have changed it, but I haven’t seen any redpost saying as such.
It’s been +15 every week for the entire season. Like why do we need a redpost when basic observation gives us 100% accurate picture.

top stats mean doo doo.
Gais gais he’s doesn’t want to hear your excuses no other 5v5 game has these problems so fix it or I will go to his house and uninstall for him.
You can be funny all you like, but the fact is this game is riddled with problems that could be easily fixed, even I as a newcomer can see that. It’s fairer to point them out than to just leave without saying anything.
Bye felicia.
I’ve wondered what kind of balancing pve players expect from this?
Can someone give me examples of what could be changed with skills now that the spvp pros are no longer playing? I’m just genuinely curious on this. Pve still affects wvw so I don’t expect any crazy changes either, although we’ve seen they allowed some broken stuff to exist in there for months before bothering to look at it. If players can clear raids now with current comps I don’t see why they would want to change stuff. Now that the pros aren’t playing I don’t even expect them to stick to quarterly balance changes.
Pvers want stuff changed so they can press 1 in a corner for 30 seconds instead of 60 seconds. YAY!
Gais gais he’s doesn’t want to hear your excuses no other 5v5 game has these problems so fix it or I will go to his house and uninstall for him.
Annnnd nex is still missing the point entirely. This isn’t about pro players at all. It’s about the focus of Anet’s balancing team only being on one game mode. The game can still have it’s pro players, but pvp should never have set the standard for every other game mode.
its been split for some time. So i fail to see how that matters… are you on the PvP forums to complain about PvE balance? Because if you are not then you are saying you dont like the PvP balance but also claim they balance the rest of the game with PvP … so i fail to see how balancing the game for PvE would help PvP balance…..
Just admit it nothing good comes from the pro players quitting or ESL ending. You can keep trying to spin it this way and that but losing a competitive player base is not a good thing. The TONS OF MONIES that was spent on ESL that is no longer being spent on ESL will not go fix some other problem … if anything now ANET is going to spend more money to do a kittentier job now that they dont have stable competitive experienced players that are performing at a high level to base their balance decisions on anymore.
If the choice has to boil down to chosing between the competative player base and the player versus enviroment playerbase as far as money and revenue is concerned, you really do not want to be barking up that tree. Spvp would be kicked out of this game yesterday.
Yes you have been missing the point. No one is saying that the spvp balance should be kicked out the window, but the fact remains that during the periods of time where balance focus was on spvp with changes spilling over into pve, the game as a whole suffered. As far as balance is concerned, they should be aiming at hardcore pve players with some slight ease of use adjustment for all classes.
The majority of the playerbase is pve focused. That’s not wishful thinking, it’s a plain fact. With arenanet focusing on providing a better and more consistent casual pve experience they managed to improve on the hardcore experience that HoT was and bring some balance to classes as far as endgame pve content goes.
When the major reason for the decline in spvp activity is the reduction of rewards, it should really make you reevaluate how improtant that game mode is to the game as a whole.
Ok so again… so essentially what we have here is people complaining about pve Balance on the PvP forums is that correct?
I’m not missing your point… I understand what is being said…. it’s just not a real point IMO.
Annnnd nex is still missing the point entirely. This isn’t about pro players at all. It’s about the focus of Anet’s balancing team only being on one game mode. The game can still have it’s pro players, but pvp should never have set the standard for every other game mode.

Low population. There is no reason for average player to do pvp atm.
Meh im still doing ok, yeah occasionally you get top players in a gold or plat game, i just look at it as an opportunity to test my skills against a quality player.
ive had it where im literally on the target and use it and maybe one tick at the beginning hits but none in between and then the last one hits…. serious loss of damage. But ill be fair it is quite rare i experience this.
Im saying anet’s balance team is a joke and they ONLY balance around pvp instead of splitting skills between game modes like always needed to happen. I don’t know how to be more clear that balancing based on pvp has been killing the game for some time now.
Maybe now that we are moving away from esports, they will finally focus on fixing problems
Wow thank you, i never even thought about it like that, silly my kept thinking losing the pro players that know the ins and outs of each class, map, rotation, strategy etc would hurt balance but i see the truth now let the casuals who barely know the difference between a condition and a boon determine balance!
You sir, missed the point by a mile.
How does balancing around a pro-player in a spvp enviroment in any way shape or form benefit the pve balance?
This isn’t about balancing around spvp for spvp but the fact that spvp balance spills over into pve balance and was a major negative factor until split skills were finally introduced.
I didn’t miss the point i understand that alot of people assume not having Pro players allows the devs to focus more on what everyone else deems to be important, So some people assume that because we no longer have pro players they will focus on splitting skills between game modes…. Now my point is they could have done that at anytime… so why is it people seem to think the pro players quitting will facilitate this change? If anything i believe it is less likely…. The devs no longer have a stable of experienced players to gather information from instead they must rely on more casual players.
the problem there is casuals usually dont figure things out on the same level as the “Pro” players.
more more it just seems like all the casuals who have been getting beat down by the “pro” players are just salty and are coming out of the woodwork to rejoice that the big bad evil meanies that were the pro players are leaving or already gone!
But by all means everyone here just keep coming up with reasons why balance should be decided by the casual who rolls his face on the keyboard on a theif dies to a DH and then expresses his displeasure in a high pitched voice on the forums
GL finding any youtube videos from me (beside records of bugs) and i have been playing thief-like classes in every game. One of my favorite game is Thief series actually (although Dishonored comes close). Bottom line, it is just your assumption and nothing else, don’t throw everyone in the same bucket based on class alone.
Obviously not every thief is a youtuber, but of the youtubers a disproportionately large amount of them are thieves.
I’ve been in enough rpgs to notice that certain behavioral types are more prolific on certain classes than on others.
I keep hoping that someone will fund a research team to analyze rpg players. I’m willing to bet they would find all sorts of correlations between psychology and class choices.
so because i chose necro as my main it is very clear that i like being thrown around like a ping pong ball.
10… I mean… I play better after 10 beers!
i only play when drinking now, makes me wonder sometimes how i would do with proper motor function
The only treb change I would like would be reduced damage. The CC alone is painful enough and can be a game changer on point if you’re already in a fight.
the damage is ok and the cc is ok i mean you can literally see the big ball of fire coming at you, its very easy to avoid if you are using your camera well.
Skills need longer cooldowns, not shorter ones. The short cooldowns are what makes the game feel spammy and skill-less.
Exactly this! In my opinion an energy/mana system is needed to prevent people from spell spamming. The amount of stuns each class has access to, should be reduced. Add longer cast duration of spells to have more counterplay. The combat is that fast paced, even experienced players can’t completely follow, so how should inexperienced players manage to follow combat?
Being able to “follow combat” has nothing to do with cool downs, that has to do with skill animation and telegraphs… You can thank the old revamped gw1 engine for that.
recently got a 1070 and can now play on ultra at like 160-180 fps in pvp at least and i can actually see through all the sparkles and stuff now its quite amazing how much i can see now. Now im not saying everyone should need 1070 specs to play this game because they shouldnt and im also aware that this game is heavily CPU relient. BUT it is possible to see everything perfectly if you have the right equipment.
do you all have some sort of special knowledge of inner workings of anets finances or how they are allowed to allocate funds? Is that why you all think without esl all of a sudden there will be tons of money for Balancing and fixing loll
Nah I have no idea. And really I was just pointing out that if said money was around, then focusing around making a more fun and balanced game would probably be the most beneficial route.
Thats brilliant ANET i think you found your new CFO here guys
do you all have some sort of special knowledge of inner workings of anets finances or how they are allowed to allocate funds? Is that why you all think without esl all of a sudden there will be tons of money for Balancing and fixing loll
i know right screw listening to the opinions of a player who seemed to understand the games skills and tactics on a better level than most other players…. id rather listening to the mesmer rolling their face on the keyboard and then complaining about their losses on the forum.
what in the flying kitten makes any of you think the ending of ESL is all of a sudden going to magicallly fix all your problems…… seriously…. ill wait.
Oh well they will be able to focus on balancing the game for the average player….. oh…. well that settles that…. PHEW! i am so relieved to know the people who will be making the balance decisions now are the ones who dont even fully understand the skills they are using.
You all thought this kitten was bad before? Its about to get BRUTAL.
Why are any of you happy about this? Basically giving up on competitive pvp… and you are all rejoicing….. sad.
I used to use staff all the time on pvp necro, I’ve found myself going away from it the last year or so. Axe and dagger just seem much better options unless you take souk marks.
Yeah theif insta kills from stealth lol just keep resetting until you insta kill someone
You can transfer even fear, immobilize and.. blind.
Dagger #4 and Staff #4 will miss with blind but not the signet.I just checked you can only autotransfer bleeds and poisons and burns and stuff like that.Doesn’t work on cripples or chill effect.
