Played it again today, it would seem travelers or melandru are the way to go. Was getting called cheese power necro in yoloq made it to top 200. Sry no video yet. It’s really entertaining not be useless in spirit watch you can actually carry the orb on this build lol. The three classes this build seems to have problems with is pure bunker d/d ele and the permanent stealth theif builds. Not that either of them can kill you just you might not be able to kill them. Also decided to ditch lich for plague but I’m not sure I’m keeping that either. Plague actually seems to make you more vulnerable. I’m taking more damage in plague than I would be just cycling through spectrals wop cc wh5 dagger auto and ds.

Oh the other class is some guardian build I ran into out fight lasted forever but I eventually won.

No you guys are right they really aren’t so let’s figure out what ones go best here. I was only using hoelbrek be cause originally I was using reapers might. I’d like to keep it over 2k power So I was thinking ogre or vampirism, I thought about scholar but I just don’t think this build would stay over the health threshold. The other two I was thinking of were melandru or travelers.

I was never short of life force so I don’t think soul marks would be worth. I did not take piercing lifeblast as this is not a zerg build. I really wouldn’t use this much as a roaming build the traits maybe but I use some strange armor mix for wvw.

The near to death vs spectral mastery is interesting as someone pointed out I could just let it run out completely. But there was some times in the fights where I found it was more beneficial for whatever reason to leave ds to have access to some other skill… and I usually found with wh5 swalk sarmor I was basically invulnerable in ds long enough that I could burn a heal before and by the time you got me out of ds I could either pop another spectral and laugh or my heal was back up. This also works against the whole focus the necro thing that happens in tpvp. GO ahead focus me I will sit there and take that beating long enough that your all gonna have 18 stacks of vuln and I’m not even out of ds yet meanwhile my teammates have already killed someone while you were trying to focus the necro oh kitten guess we should get off the necro and focus someone else! Great now I’m gonna pop lich and finish you.

So with all the talk about powermancer going on lately I decided to try one again and it had been a very long time since I had. What I wanted wasn’t necessarily a bunker but what I ended up with kind of is. I know all these other videos of people making powermancer no one’s ever getting focused and I never really understood it. So after playing througb a couple hotjoins I eventually ended up with this.

A couple people started pming me asking what the hell I was doing because I literally just wasn’t dying. So I started yoloqing with it and won a few games in a row. One of which was a dreaded 4v5.

I wanted to get some feedback if anyone’s tried anything like this build and has had success with it. It is a 3 stun break build so I bet I’m going to take heat for it…. if you don’t want to go the 3 stun break route with this build remove wop drop 2 points from the toughness line and throw it in power and pick up might on lb and change to strength runes and pick up BiP. And that’s what I use as a roaming powermancer but for the pvp fights I find this has crazy survivability and you have so much lf you can basically camp ds forever.

I don’t usually post builds and I’m very critical of other people’s but I literally felt like a monster with this yesterday. Videos to come.

Pve, spvp, tpvp, fractals, wvw?

King your seeing what I am. It’s a prime example of why you don’t leave the zerker necro alone. He doesn’t get focused I could take videos of me not getting focused and it would basically be me maniacally laughing at mea king people run into walls.

His gameplay is not bad it just doesn’t show what he does when he gets in trouble. Comboing is one thing responding to being attack with different things is another

We had a weapon in Ultima Online called the Bone Harvester it was like a one handed scythe, I think one of th e dagger skins actually kind of looks like it. That would be kinda cool, would just have to make it a little bigger
than that dagger skin. And it looks like a cleaving weapon Too.

Main hand torch would also be pretty cool as an close aoe wep

It would help us in other areas of the game not just against certain bosses…

I kind of gave up on playing a powermancer in spvp and tpvp to be honest.

I’m not trying to rage here lol, yeah I play mostly spvp tpvp and wvw. And even on the teams I play on when we see a necro we bomb it. We know it will be weak to cc so we wait for it to blow it’s stun break and nuke the kitten out of it. I’m fully expecting it everytime and if they don’t well they’re stupid the build I use is tankier with either carrion or rabid so I can get a little close to the action and it’s my job to take out the boon heavy classes so I do sometimes have to jump in, but even if I don’t a theif, a mes, a ranger or a warrior is on my as soon as I come into view regardless of where I position myself.

I Apologize for all the kittens. I still find it hilarious that it says kitten so I’m far more likely to use those naughty words on these forums than I normally are.

Wvw small group fighting or roaming it’s good.

Zergs it’s suboptimal but play what you enjoy man.

Dungeons again suboptimal but they are so easy it shouldn’t matter.

It’s one of our best options in spvp.

Wow. I’m not saying I’d be in the middle of the god kitten ed fight. However, in tpvp most of the time they can still see me if I can hit them…… and once they see me I get focused pretty much every god kitten ed time, watching his game play there was only one sequence were someone was even targeting him…. I wish people would leave me alone that kittening long.

Things must seriously be different in whatever pvp matches you join, I didn’t see you get focused once. Everytime I come on screen of the other team they all immediately switch to me.

That gameplay is a shining example of why you should focus the necro rather than letting them 2 shot the other classes

Ok mr. Troll. We do have skills in DS gasp I know you probably just sit there and look pretty and green. I know good players will save their knockbacks when we are in DS which also means we are getting cced less. It would also help with aoe ccs. Which would what? Oh it would allow us to use our skills more gasp

My problem isn’t going to be solved as someone above me has said devs will not give us faster cast times. So allowing me not to be constantly cced would go a long way to making a necro more viable as an attrition class would it not?

I conceded they want us to cast slow so I gave another suggestion. Would I prefer the cast times be faster over shade? Yes.

I get that it’s while in deathshroud….. I’m not sure what your trying to say. I accepted the fact that our skills wont get faster cast times. So allowing us to not be a green ping pong ball is enough for me.

Hell make sov work in ds. That might make the thing use able in certain builds heavily trait ed for ds.

Well if they want our casts to be slow I say kitten it #bringbackshade.

They want us to be slow, tanky, and dangerous if left alive long enough right? Then we need to actually be able to cast our kittening skills instead of being ping pong balls of varying sizes.

I apologize if I sound whiny today, yesterday was a dark day for me in the yoloq. Been working to get to top 100 for 2 weeks, friend plays 10 games yesterday on a warrior ends up with a 58% win rate and gets to 72…… wtf.

Are you talking spvp or pve…..? Tourneys or Hotjoins? They are a different animal. Id almost be ok with us being ping pong balls that don’t have blocks or invulnerabilities if they made our skills cast faster. It’s annoying playing some of the other classes and everything they have is pretty much insta cast. Once you start fighting people that are good to very good in pvp it becomes apparent our skills cast to kittening slow.

I dunno something like that might be ok we get cced alot so giving us better sustain like that would make us more of the attrition class anet wants us to be. We still have to be attacking for it to work

Its too much we really only need little tweaks… Mainly allowing us to be healed in ds. Although I think we may border on op if that happens especially in wvw…. if I can stay in ds while they’re blasting water fields drools

plague signet is awesome. i would argue locust sucks.

If your only boon is might its not very good so many classes have ways of getting rid of it why do that when you should focus on something we do well.

Im not saying its impossible but again why would we cripple ourselves without a stunbreak….. and not do the things we are actually good at. Instead of trying to make necro something its not play it for what it is. Im going to use my shoe thing again. I can pour water in a shoe and drink from it so i guess that “works” right?

Rennoko your not alone. I dont have that problem in WvW so much but sometimes in tpvp ill run into a ranger that just presses 1 at range for days…. ill get close knockback back to 1 spam…. drives me insane.

Have you tried any condi builds?

This is a terror build focusing on removing boons, it may be a little overkill on the boon removal but with the current boon spam kitten I’ve found it to be pretty good.

I’ll take a look at it, condi is not my favorite but I’m due for another round of backline team “support” anyway. I’ve had some luck being a backline boonstrip cannon. (hotjoins not confident enough in the build for arena) corruption and woc both but good D/D eles for instance will intersperse their invulnerabilities between your boon strips even if you carry two I’ve found. I should run sc/fc cond due to that but I was married to sc/wh a while for kiting.

I hadn’t had a chance to play with Dhuumfire yet since I left before all those changes so I modified your build into a hybrid power.

I lose crit and bleeds (hopefully making up for it with power and might) but gain a ton of defense in the LF/DS department with dark shroud due to signet of undeath and have plenty of access to might and dhuumfire after setting up a bleed stack. Mainly I dropped well in favor of signet of spite because with this setup I can be completely ranged without the easy to evade well and both corruption and signet of spite have 1200 range and zero or quick tells. I’m not sold on the pet being in condi spec but I am trying it for extra distraction and uptime over the standard plague form. Thieves again make giving up plague form a pain.

The theory is I’m tough enough for most not to bother coming after me while still being able to do serious nuking with hybrid power and still heavy conditions damage at maximal ranges. The pet does fit in with backline support better.

I found I had enough boon stripping and/or damage to get through boons not stripped to down any target. I don’t really like going ‘all in’ on boon stripping due to targets that are a major threat to you that don’t stack that many boons. Mainly thieves.

The problem with this though is you still need someone to peel for you I feel, which meant I didn’t even consider running this with my guild today and just picked up Ye Olde Hambow instead who can shrug off many 2v1s and is good against all types of classes in a team or 1v1 environment due to plenty of hard CC in the base weapon and might stacking.

I notice you say you don’t have trouble with thieves in condi and I wonder where you encounter terrible thieves that can’t kill you with scepter out. I have little trouble with thieves in power spec personally but that is with standard melee weapons. Good ones are a pain for me with scepter or staff out even in hybrid mode for condi builds. I’m talking about thieves that can almost kill you in the time it takes you to swap to staff for some marks or half your life in the time it takes you to DS and fear them off.

They can dodge roll through pre planted marks and just facetime your condi from scepter until it’s time to fear you and burst you down which all can happen in seconds. Even with DS up. I need more practice vs. good ones but I have trouble believing condi necs have little trouble with thieves that know anything about what they’re doing. If anything is making the difference in your build for thieves I figure it’s got to be Retaliation vs. my Might stacking. I should probably give retaliation more game time but I usually tend to try to might stack especially in a hybrid setup.

So….. what happens when someone stuns you. We get focused as necros and when a hambow sees us they go right for us, especially when he figures out you don’t have any sort of stun break. I made the build to deal with boon spam that’s currently going On in the tpvp with the new strength runes everyone is better at stacking might than us so rather than trying to fight fire with fire I decided to extinguish theres.

XD It still hits you just don’t see the green line and the more he moves the more damage is done to him.

Was the one with 6 in ferocity the more damaging spec before it got changed to ferocity? I only ask because it would seem if you have a group giving you buffs and your using zerkers you wouldn’t need all the precision your getting from the curses line.

You won’t need the focus with that build it has the spinal shivers proc and the boom removal sigils.

Also I find theives easier with condi specs than power…

If they just invised I think ds 5 is still a good idea and staff 2 wait on the mark until it’s triggered then you know he’s next to you.

Hybrid means conditions and power…. that build is a power spectral build.

I would guess a 6/6/x/x/x hybrid would work fantastic with carrion in spvp and roaming. Dhuum and path of corruption terror.

So much kittening fail. Someone show me a video of them on a necro bunkering vs 3 people because I would really love to see this kitten. Mystogan it’s called rotating and it’s not a fail strategy it’s actually a very good strategy. We necros just suck at it which is why we are sometimes told to stay home. A mesmer can make it do much easier though with a mes you can make it so you can get all 4 people to home mid or far if you need to depending on what the other team is doing.

Ok well when your in t2, fighting against maguuma and sos with half their numbers you try running without melandru and lemongrass, I don’t run full ptv though. If I was playing on some kitten server I’d probably be able to run in full scholars and zerker.

I wasn’t being sarcastic. If your in a zerg and you want to command as a necro you want as much condi reduction as you can get especially with our lack of stability available. I also just don’t think a necro should be commanding.

On a necro melandru is not a waste of money. If your worried about money maybe being a commander isn’t right for you.

My primary guild does mostly wvw, looking for team or guild to pvp with. Mostly play terrormancer variations or mm. Mostly play 1-10 est.

Minions. Staff. Axe focus. Straight zerker. Leveling made easy.

Cogs right, especially with the way we can retrait on the fly now. I do the same thing in tpvp depending on the team we are about to fight.

Is this a pve, spvp, tpvp, wvw, fractals? What are you building for?

I don’t have much trouble against well necros on a condi necro, spectral power necros with multiple stun breaks are another story.

He has a staff and a focus…… you mean war horn instead of focus?

MM does not suck. And you can play the summon and forget way sure… but your much more effective if stay active with your minion skills blowing up your minions at the right times, using golem charge to knock down 3 people at a time, using bone fiend to catch those pesky eles and warriors who just keep disengaging to get rid of minons. I mean your still using your other skills lol you don’t just sit there afk and let the minions do all the work. If you did that the minions wouldn’t even attack they would be studying the flowers and rocks. I think terrormancer would be the closest thing to our version of mm though.

I cannot believe people still try to argue against dagger. It’s been proven a few times by multiple people. It is our highest dps weapon and it should be considering we have to stand on top of our target to use it.
