I would move it to adept, and give 50% crit increase instead of 100%. Mind that warriors have almost the same trait in adept line (+50% crit against stunned targets), which not only affects one of their weapon and its #1 ability, but is also much easier to access in combat. Many classes have free daze/stun/knockdown to contribute this trait (including other warriors!), as opposed to stealth.

That’s a pretty kitten bad comparison.

First off, Warriors have two stun Bursts. Then there’s Shield 4 skill. That means there’s a total of five weapon sets that have access to a stun.

Second off, Unsuspecting Foe is currently one of the reasons why Warriors are able to run builds like Mace/Shield + GS or Mace/Shield + Hammer and get decent damage out of it. And if you check out the Warrior forum, there’s plenty of complaints about that.

And even besides that, stealth is much more common than stun on a warrior. Why not just give Thieves a baseline +50% crit chance instead? Same thing, pretty much.

And wait… did you just sneak in a suggestion where a build with x/30/x/x/x would be able to pick both Executioner and a +50% crit chance in stealth? Because kitten , that’s OP. It doesn’t take that much to get base 50% crit chance, which means the end result would be the equivalent of being able to choose both Hidden Killer and Executioner.

I agree.

I think Olba is a bit biased towards making thief an unchallanged class. Or he didn’t think it through.

So… you agree with me and then call me biased for calling out the OP’s suggestion?

How good would taking 10 out of arms and into tactics be? Leg specialist with sword auto sounds REALLY strong.

10 second internal cooldown on Leg Specialist makes it not-so-hot for sword auto-attack.

thanks Olba: I forgot to change the ‘strength’ traits. Correct now

Quote honestly, I would ditch Defy Pain and put 10 more into Arms and grab Furious. Gotta remember that Endure Pain, and by extension Defy Pain, only blocks direct damage while letting conditions go through just fine.

Fire Field + Blast Finisher = LOLMIGHTSTACKING

Do you even zerk bro?

Also lol at the “there are none that are good!” sentiment.
The ele can solo-stack some 20 stacks of might using the right weapons and traits.

As I said, some are ok.

Calculate how many fields are in the game, and how many you think are really good? Which do have tactical use behind? From how many you speak in team speak that you want the field A?

Or is that, “Giev my mihgt, ZEEEERGDOOOM!”

Well looking at the possibilities, I would say that the only useless one is Ice Field. And it’s a pretty kitten rare field to begin with.

Ethereal is hard to use in a “strategic” manner, considering that it centers on Confusion and Chaos Armor, of which the latter is random.

What you’re suggesting sounds more like the most hated mode in Counter-Strike: Escort. In it, one team member is a VIP, who has no weapons, but a ton of armor. Objective is to escort him to a rendezvous point, while the other team aims to kill the VIP.

A setting where you have a “team leader” and that leader dying is the only way to lose, you’ll just end up with everyone picking bunkers for their leader and having the rest zerk it out.

Some sort of system that allows the losing servers more people per a map would be a good start i think.

I don´t think that will help much. In most cases they are losing because they have less players than the enemy.

Less players or less overall coverage. Or both.

Smoke Field is the reason why D/P Thief is the most popular spec for Thief.

-1-2 more waypoints on each borderland! Why? well when you die in a battle or you join in the wvw for first time in the day, is really annyoing trying to catch up with the rest of the team, and some additional way points will make that a bit easier! And easier is not always bad…
-More destructibility! Although thats something that was just a comment on a forum question, I really liked it! Imagine being able to destroy with the siege weapons not only doors and walls, but ALL the buildings and sometimes even the area in and out of a Keep! Well, thats not an easy project to accomplish and also will might create some new annoying bugs, but still, IS FUN!
-World bosses that roaming in the WvW map and destroying things! Yeah!!!!!!! There are some kind of bosses in the WvW and also the neutral camps of some creatures that you can use them, but thats not the idea here! This is about making some powerful bosses that roaming all the time and destroying walls, supply caravans, and generally making the gametime of wvw players challenging and harder. My addition in that is that every time that a server kills this boss takes a buff as reward or some gold maybe or additional siege weapons.

  1. But the lack of waypoints is deliberate. You can make waypoints at keeps that you capture, but it takes time. It’s a strategy thing. If they threw around waypoints like candy, you would end up in a situation where dying would be meaningless. Currently, contesting waypoints in keeps is a valid war strategy.
  2. And what purpose would that serve? Especially since everything defaults to maximum durability if a keep/SM/Tower changes hands.
  3. I don’t think that’s a good idea. There are already a few Champions that you can kill in the maps. And just take a look at the behavior surrounding the Siegemasters. They’re largely ignored and in some cases, servers abuse their mechanics. I mean, if your opponent holds Stonemist and a giant attacks them, why would you not just watch as the giant wrecks havoc and then waltz in and take SM?

Create new ways to acquire ascended gear

Olba.5376

That would be kinda ridiculous, the Ascended gear are a pretty obvious sink for overabundant crafting materials.

In that regard, Karma was already hit pretty heavily with the change to the daily and monthly reward.

Also, what you’re suggesting wouldn’t really be any better. While it would mean that there’s a new way to get Ascended, it would only affect a small portion of the playerbase. I don’t do dungeons, so I have no tokens. I have <100 Fractal Relics. Basically, your suggestion favors dungeon runners enormously. And considering that running CoF P1 was the best way to make money for a pretty long period of time, I would think that the average dungeon crawler is wealthier than the average player. No need to give them any freebies.

So what are you going to do when WvW players come knocking and start demanding Ascended weapons for Badges of Honor?

And honestly, what’s this about “non-crafter”? There’s such a thing as a crafter? I can understand if some people don’t craft in a game, when you can buy pretty much everything. But I seriously doubt that the opposite, people that craft everything they use exist. At best, there are people who make ends meet by crafting stuff for profit. Hell, I have Jeweler, Armorsmith and Weaponsmith 400 on my Warrior, but that doesn’t really mean I like crafting. I just like to cover that option in case something cool emerges.

I wanted to ask how one goes about joining a dungeon or pvp. Do you just sign up for it and get teleported there, or do you have to hoof it old-school?

PvP is a whole different game in itself. The gear, levels, etc is different from the rest of the game. Gladly, you get all of it for free. There is a button that opens up the PvP menu, where you can teleport to the PvP area. In that area, you’ll find NPCs that sell the gear (for free) that you’ll be equipping. You can join the PvP matches from the same menu that you used to get transported there.

As for dungeons, there is an LFG tool in the game for making parties, but other than that, it’s the standard fair: you gotta port to the dungeon on your own.

You see, my wife loves being the Tank. She also loves being the Healer. She is under the impression that she is not a good DPS because she doesn’t have the best reflexes. She likes to do more than just mash a combo as fast as possible until things die. If we were to play this, would it be possible for her to fulfill a role as a “Tank” or “Healer”?

Well, the thing is, in Guild Wars 2, the bigger things hit really badly. In the worst case, you’ll be oneshot regardless of how “tanky” you are. The actual gameplay centers a lot around dodging attacks and moving around the mobs. So a tank doesn’t really exist in this game.

As for a healer, that’s also a no. But a lesser no, as instead of a typical healer, where you keep everyone alive, you can build for support. Things like providing your party with a passive regeneration or giving them occasional heals are all over the place.

She loves a game with a good story that will keep her running along. She found WoW’s story cheesy at times, but generally liked that it always had things going on and usually had her rushing along to learn what happened next. One quest, involving an Orc that yelled “Smell what the Lok’Tar is cooking” or something like that, had her in tears because of how a character in the questline died.

Honestly, I wouldn’t listen to a word that people say about the quality (or lack thereof) of the story. Most people are kitten ed off because in the Personal Story (a kind of story mode), a character other than yours gets to be the Supreme Commander of the army. The basic layout for a Personal Story is that when you make a character, you pick a few options, one of them relating to your character’s backstory. That determines which race-specific Personal Story you do from level 1 to about 25ish. After that you meet three different factions that battle the dragons. The last part of the storyline deals with the Elder Dragon Zhaitan.

So I would like to know if this game, one without “WoW-like” quests would still have a story that she can get pulled into. She loves exploring, I should add. (I’m also curious how you know when you’re done with a particular area if there’s no quests or something similar to guide you to the next area.)

Exploration in GW2 is a whole sport in itself. The in-game map keeps data of all of your exploration and shows accurate details of your exploration for every single area.

She does like gear progression. One issue she had with Rift was how most gear looked the same as last thing she just had, so she didn’t have a strong feeling of getting stronger.

The actual statistic gear progression isn’t a big thing in Guild Wars 2. However, you can customize the look of your armor a lot. You can use essentially any armor skin of the same weight (light, medium, heavy) and you can get up to 400+ different colours to dye your armors with.

She’s fine with grinding. In fact, her favorite thing to do in MMO’s is to work the Auction House. I’ve seen her make tens of thousands of gold in a single day in the WoW auction house, all while cackling madly.

There’s a saying in Guild Wars 2: “Trading Post is where the real PvP happens.”

Sadly, Lemongrass is countered point-for-point by a +40% condition food and most condi specs run with additional +duration%.

That and the duration is highly irrelevant if the conditions get reapplied before their duration runs out.

If you want to test builds, there’s always the golems in sPvP.

Yes but when I can’t compare the whole dmg I did while dpsing for 2 minutes the golem what is the point then?
I repeat i do NOT mind if i am able to use dps meter only in the Mists and no where else.
But I want to have the tools to compare Build A while dpsing 2-3 minutes the golem with build B while dpsing the golem for the same amount of time.
When i can’t do that then i can’t decide which build is stronger even if it’s better only by little.

You can just do it the other way.

In your perspective, the damage is the variable over a fixed time. With the golems, the opposite is true: the damage is fixed whereas the time is variable. It’s an equally valid form of DPS testing since DPS is damage/time: Dealing 6,000 damage in 1 minute versus 6,600 damage in 1 minute (10% increase) is perfectly identical to going from dealing 6,000 damage in 1 minute to dealing 6,000 damage in 54.54 seconds.

In fact, that’s how a lot of the ideal DPS setups were discovered in GW2. I remember Strife posting on the warrior forum with videos where he killed a Veteran Risen Giant over and over again while timing the kills.

That’s a bad idea, simply because it will mean that anyone will only ever use 180 Laurels on Ascended stuff. Because if you want it on your other character, you just get a refund and buy the ascended stuff that your other character needs.

Because let’s face it, if the refund only applied to Unique items before soulbinding, it wouldn’t fulfill the purpose of preventing people from buying 2 of the same unique, as most people only notice it after they’ve already soulbinded both of them.

Ok back to topic………adding a block mechanic

How blocking should work.
- The block mechanic would be key bind to “right mouse click” (sense this key currently does nothing in game)
- Blocking a attack would reduce your stamina by 1/10 it’s total amount.
- Damage is reduce by 50% for block attacks.
- Push back effects have there distance reduce by 50% and don’t knock you down.
- If you or currently using a shield damage reduce and distance reduction is improve both to 75% each, and Stamina cost is reduce to 1/20.

That would make Vigor extremely OP, since it regenerates 10% of your endurance per second.

Throw in kiting and passive HP regen via things like Healing Signet or Regeneration and you end up with bunkers being literally immortal. For example, throw Protection and 50% reduction on a Guardian with Signet of Judgment and you’re looking at 93% damage reduction. Conveniently, Shield 4 on Guardian provides Protection. Oh and they have that 5 point minor trait for vigor on crit. kitten it!

And what about PvE? If you were able to block any attack in PvE, that would make bosses pretty kitten easy as you could just have everyone in your party equip a shield and rotate who’s blocking.

6. Cures a condition every seven seconds. 50%

Managing conditions on a D/D elementalist is a nightmare. The utilities are impossible to work around without sacrificing something meaningful for an absurd cool down. A nice defensive rune is the cure.

Man, talk about OP rune right there. Rune of Melandru is only -25% condition duration, and it doesn’t give Power. And that 6th rune effect would be crazy. You could make it something like “Cures 1 condition” with a 20s ICD. The blind would also have to have like a 10s+ ICD.

Not to mention that you could take 4 of this rune and 2 Melandru for -45% condition duration.

Help with WvW Warrior Spec Axe

This is what I run in WvW whenever I run axe. For me personally, Eviscerate is one of the biggest appeals of using Axe MH, so I build around Eviscerate. Then again I spend most of my time roaming.

As for the build that you posted, here’s a few comments:

  • I don’t really get why you would go 30 into Defense for Last Stand. Granted, it blocks the first CC that you would take, which is often the critical one, but it’s a 90 second cooldown for that. With Dolyak Signet and Balanced Stance both being stunbreaks, I don’t see any reason to use Last Stand.
  • I think your trinkets are way out of order. If I were you, I would fiddle around with this page to figure out the cheapest way to get to a crit damage% number that you like.
  • If I were a zerg runner, I would definitely go Rune of Melandru over Hoelbrak.

But honestly, I am not really sure whether Axe MH is the kind of weapon that you should be running in zergs. It’s a full on damage weapon with cleave and that’s it. There’s no CC and no condition damage.

So dumb luck should reward people with a privilege over others?

Man, that’s a bit like the precursors. Never thought I would see a pro-RNG post here.

Explain to me how this is pro-rng? Its about not just jumping to whatever server is doing well and actually defending the place you chose as your home.

We where down in the kittenter for the longest time, read: buttom ranked server – but through teamwork we worked our way up. Then a lot of realmjumpers joined us as we where doing well and now all of us are stuck in queues, how is this fair for those of us who stuck through the bad times?

The thing is, the server you chose to begin with was arbitrary. Unless, of course, you picked a strong WvW server on purpose.

I doubt I need to elaborate why being rewarded for an arbitrary choice is RNG.

My point is simply that while you might end up rewarding some people for loyalty, in most cases it’ll be dumb luck that you ended up with the bonus.

Also, what would be the threshold for this privilege? Character made on launch day? Character made in beta? Character /age more than 365 days?

And what about cases where you picked a strong WvW server on purpose and that server has stayed strong? How much “loyalty” can you have when being disloyal is illogical? Should you really reward that kind of “loyalty”? If not, how would you distinguish it? Hell, what about a case where you chose your server arbitrarily, it turned out to be a top WvW server, has stayed as such but you have stayed with them for loyalty?

  2. 8s Stability, 180 toughness passive, 48s cooldown
  3. 5s stability, 1-2s fear, 40s cooldown

Why would I pick anything but the last one for my stability? Especially since after October 15th, it will cost me a small fee of 10 points into Tactics to reduce the cooldown to 32s?

I get that you’re attempting to add Stability to a Shout-build warrior, while trying to make Fear Me! more appealing, but I think that your perspective is a bit misleading. The moment you add more than a moment of Stability, you have to compare it to the other stability utilities. Similarly, since it’s a shout, you have to look at the full potential, and that is:

  • 5s Stability
  • 1-2s Fear
  • Heals 1,490 (0.9 coefficient)
  • Removes 1 condition
  • 40s cooldown

Looking at that list, the Fear condition isn’t the main star. Clearly the big thing there is the Stability and the heal. Changing a skill so much that its main appeal is the new addition and trait-related bonuses isn’t a good way to go about it.

And honestly, considering that Fear Me is an AoE fear, I am not sure that the cooldown is too steep.

So how far do they have to push the rewards until it’s “up to par”? A rare chance for Ascended with guaranteed champion boxes? A rare chance for Ascended with guaranteed exotics? Common ascended drops with guaranteed exotics? Guaranteed ascended? Because let’s be honest, by the time the rewards are “up to par”, they will also be superior to other sources of acquiring whatever the rewards are.

And the best source for the best gear in the game being a raid is bullkitten. That disrespects just about everything else in the game.

Inventory Bags with persistent content?

Here’s a thing, charge me for the ability. Problem solved Anything to make this more seamless and effortless of an experience. The wallet stream lined so much and they should continue making the inventory in such a fashion.

The thing is, being able to stuff a bag into a single bank slot gives you 4-20 times the space.

That gives you at least two obvious problems. First up, the pricing would have to be ridiculously high (4-20 times that of a single bank tab), as otherwise buying bank tabs would be made obsolete. Second up, you would either have to sell that ability per bank tab or have it adapt dynamically to how many tabs you have already unlocked (more expensive if you have more tabs).

There are other ways that you could implement moving bags (and their contents) between characters. For example, you could add the option to “lock” the contents of a bag, so that if you have enough space, you can just deposit the bag and all of its contents will go into the bank with it.

A case for the Holy Trinity.

GW2 does have teamwork in spades. A vague analysis of team compositions in tPvP, WvW or dungeons would show that each of them are in fact very concerned with what they carry around.

Deimos brought up Combo fields and that’s one of the big things. Specific classes have ample access to specific combo fields, while other classes have little to no access to that type of field. Things like stacking Might, area healing, area retaliation or are swiftness is very important.

Also, your suggested revamp will not cause the current people to play more, it would be more likely to cause majority of the current playerbase to quit and be replaced with an entirely different one. For example, I have like 800 hours on my Warrior and if you turned him into a tank all of a sudden, I would be quitting. My other level 80 is a Thief and if you suddenly turned him into a DD, I would be quitting that as well, because DDs get shunned in games where tanks/healers are top priority. I also wouldn’t be playing a healer because I find that playstyle to be boring. So I would have nothing left to play.

Also, your suggested change of taking away aoe heals and lowering personal heals would never go over well with the playerbase. Taking away aoe heals literally kills a ton of support builds, some of which are for Guardian, Warrior and Thief, who would now be forced to tank or DD. And the personal heals? Well, that would go against the whole mantra of being able to complete most content solo. Because a lot of that stuff depends on the personal healing that you can get.

i knew someone would come with this suggestion… first of all building adrenaline with a decent build is not easy at all, there r a few traits that require 3 bars of adrenaline to work well such as: adrenal health, heightened focus and berserker’s power, so wasting adrenaline has its consequences.

I am pretty sure that none of the serious PvP specs that people run use Berserker’s Power or Heightened Focus. And that is pretty much because of how good Burst Mastery and Cleansing Ire are.

Also, building adrenaline is pretty easy if you grab Burst Mastery, Furious or Sharpened Axes.

remember the part where i said that i use an specific build? i only use cleasing ire wish is awesome but none of the others.

but let’s say u don’t need none of them and ur in a battle, what happens if u get blind? exacly u miss and also what happens if simply miss it, thats right ull have to wait for it 10s cooldown again.

Use a longbow, the burst there is immune to blind.

And let’s be honest, a significant majority of Warriors run Fast Hands, which means their burst is going to be on a 8.75s cooldown rather than 10s.

that would be a PRETTY good idea but long bows r mainly for condition build even tho it blinds, unmove and even burn pretty well the fact that i have 0 condition dmg would make that weapon not very effective.

im not saying this trait is useless cause it isnt but is definetly not going to guaranti u a win agains full condition mesmers or necros maybe other classes yea but not this 2. anyways that was just to answer ur question but MAIN point here is that the “shrug it off” trait should have a boost…. do u agree or not.

Wait a second there! You want guaranteed wins? That’s pretty ridiculous. And by the way, for those condition heavy builds, we have Berserker Stance.

oh sure berserker stance haha that was my hope and i cant denie that against necros it works but when it comes down to mesmers… men i just wish i could put in the same duels i’ve been and also against the same Mesmer I’ve fought then ull understand what im talking about. 8s of condition immunity thats what get from berserker stance but i dont know if u remember the insane amount of supervivality mesmers have thoes 8s will pass agay like nothing happened and pls dont tell me to use sure-footed cause dogged march is way better.

As for Shrug it Off, it is rather ill-placed at the current moment. At Master tier, it competes with things like Lung Capacity and Quick Breathing, which doesn’t fare well for it. They are changing that in the October 15th patch though, with moving Lung Capacity to Adept.

If you ask me personally, I think that Shrug it Off is simply a bad trait and there’s not much you could do to fix it. It cleanses 1 condition as soon as you get 2, which often makes it rather useless as it could end up cleansing things like Cripple, Immobilize or Chill. On the other hand, lowering the cooldown comes with issues since Shrug it Off benefits from everything that relates to Shouts, meaning it heals and can cleanse 2 conditions with Soldier Runes.

Just think about it. You suggested a 15s cooldown. With Soldier Runes and Vigorous Shouts (after the October 15th patch), you’re talking about a passive trait that heals for ~1400 and removes 2 conditions every 15 seconds. That’s just shy of 100 hp/s healing and significant passive condi removal.

i dont know about this patch so i cant say much about it but as for ur personal opnion i couldn’t agree more. by the way im signet build warrior just to let u know.

JSharp made this post detailing some of the balance changes they’ll be putting in on October 15th.

Elsewhere it was mentioned that they’re bringing up the base healing of Vigorous Shouts by 25% and changing the scaling from 0.8 to 0.9.

To me, that looks pretty delicious for a healing shout warhorn warrior, as they will be able to pick up Vigorous Shouts, Quick Breathing and Lung Capacity.

More Skills and Another Skill Bar?

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind the option for more skills. For example, being able to swap each of the 5 weapon skills to something different.

But adding more bars? That’s never a good thing. It will result in a setting where the average player has to click on the skill icons, making “advanced users”, those with MMO-themed mice, have a ridiculous advantage just from having superior hardware. And then there’s the fact that more skills lead to some skills becoming obsolete and the birth of actual rotations.

And let’s be honest, too many skills, with a few obsolete ones, plus optimized rotations leads to a situation where the game is extremely difficult for a rookie to grasp. And that was one of the reasons why they made Guild Wars 2 in the first place.

Harder dungeons with better rewards

Well I have two questions..

  1. Would you (the hardcore community) really be satisfied with a difficult dungeon that only rewards you with themed skins? Because looking at stuff like Tequatl, you have people saying “Yeah, it’s difficult but the rewards are crap” or so. And let’s be serious, the hardcore community is a minority here, so doing stuff like giving statistically superior gear or other stat-related advantages, such as frequent drops of ascended stuff, wouldn’t be a possible move.
  2. Why should there be content that is designed to be unbeatable? Because let’s be serious, even the current game has various effects that make bosses unkillable. So it really wouldn’t be much of a dungeon, just load it up with tons of mobs that are invulnerable and require that you kill all of them to progress to the next stage. And even if they wanted to make things that can actually be killed, they could just make a boss with so much HP that it would take, for example, 100 years of 24/7 attacking to kill.

Your utilities seem rather questionable. Shake it Off doesn’t make much sense when you have Cleansing Ire and no Shout related traits. Similarly, I don’t see any reason why you would use Bull’s Charge.

As for your traits, I’m not seeing the logic behind going 10 into Strength just to grab a vitality trait. Similarly, what you’ve picked in the Tactics tree doesn’t make much sense. The typical trait layout for a Hammer would be 0/10/30/0/30, so I would look into that.

Lastly, the Rune of Dolyak is crap. The health regen on it is like 30 hp/s. If you want defensive runes, Rune of Melandru is your best bet.

Levels in MMOs are meaningless

The way I see it is that levels function as a sort of extended tutorial.

It’s not like you cannot go to Orr at level 1. You totally can, just means that you’ll probably be oneshot tons of times along the way.

If anything, Guild Wars 2 has done a kitten good job of making level grinding minimal. Well, minimal as long as you’re willing to play the content that they’ve made. You know, do renown hearts and the personal story. And there is very few things that require the maximum or a very high level, unlike many other games where the content requiring higher levels amounts to majority of all content.

Ask yourself one thing: Would you be complaining about leveling if the maximum level number was 30, with level 30 unlocking the Elite skills as it does now, with access to Masterwork/Rare/Exotic being scaled to match that change? To me it seems like most of the complaints about “leveling” have to do with the levels of areas or what happens after level 30.

However, it makes sense that specific areas have specific levels, since that means that the newer playerbase is properly spread out in the world, rather than accumulating on a handful of spots with the best experience rates.

Similarly, having levels beyond 30 where you don’t really “gain” anything new in terms of gameplay makes sense from a learning perspective. Just because you have access to all the tools does not mean that you know how to use them. That takes time, and leveling is a good way to get players to spend that time.

Assassin vs Berserker

In a side by side comparison of these two layouts, mathematically, which one would offer higher output in damage? I can’t remember where I saw a post where crit damage becomes more effective than power based on crit chance, maybe the ranger forums. It had a graph showing the damage increase. I knew I should have bookmarked it.

Assassin: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYAQJAoalUmiO3ey4E/5Ey2DfqCJKuHOlR1UaFwJA-jECBYOBksAgKAMRqIaslhFRjVXDTviIq2dgIqWKgIGDA-w

Berserker: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYAQJAoalUmiO3ey4E/5Ey2DfqCJKuHOlR1UaFwJA-jECBYLBksAgKAM5pIaslhFRjVXDTViIq2dgIqWKgIGDA-w

Thank you!

First link: Damage = 2219 × 953 x (1 + 0.61 × 1.09) = 3,520,775
Second link: Damage = 2457 × 953 x (1 + 0.5 × 1.09) = 3,617,649

So the Berserker setup comes out at ~2.8% more damage. However, since you have Hidden Killer, the situation is much worse while attacking from stealth:

First link: Damage = 2219 × 953 x (1 + 1.09) = 4,419,737
Second link: Damage = 2457 × 953 x (1 + 1.09) = 4,893,778

Now you have the Berserker setup coming out at ~10.7% more damage.

Honestly, there are pretty much only 2 reasons to use Assassin stuff. First is setups with low natural crit%, where the benefit of every gained 1% is pretty significant. Second is setups with significant usage of on-crit effects.

And where exactly would you plan to use this?

Defiant on Champions and Legendaries makes Merciless Hammer and Unsuspecting Foe lose all of their effectiveness. And then you’re just stuck with a slow, low damage weapon.

Not to mention that including Frenzy in any PvE spec is kinda silly since it has a 60s cooldown.

I think that if “they” had their way, Thief would be removed.

Because let’s face it, even if you remove stealth, either directly or by increasing revealed to ridiculous extents, everyone would end up playing something akin to the S/D evade builds. And that would kitten off people even more than stealth.

And thus, the only option would be complete removal of Thief.

Do "rotations" exist in this game?

Do note that the “rotations”, even where they exist, are not mandatory in any form.

Yes, you will not be pushing out optimal DPS, but that doesn’t make you outright deadweight.

In majority of encounters, you can play “badly” and still come out alive without much trouble. Personally, I don’t concern myself much with “rotations” and “optimal dps”, but I rather play what I like.

The last time there was a “It’s not fun not being able to use my skills” type of debate was with the glamour Mesmer, and anet nerfed that from 3 different directions (confusion damage and 2 traits got nerfed) making the build unviable.

Hopefully anet takes the approach of small changes, which they said was how they would handle adjustments, and not kill the hammer spec, but something needs to be done.

Well, the Mace+Shield/GS setup is getting hit with the Sigil of Paralyzation fix, which will lower its power significantly.

Hammer always had one glaring weakness: Damage. So I could see Merciless Hammer or Unsuspecting Foe getting tweaked. More likely the former, since the latter is used in more combinations.

It’s not like Hammer+Mace/Shield results in massive uptime for stun, akin to what Daze was with Tactical Strike. Mostly because you simply do not magically get that 2-3s stun on the bursts and Hammer and Mace are notoriously bad at generating adrenaline.

But honestly, I would just wait until they fix the Sigil of Paralyzation and see how that turns out.

Not going to happen.

The whole point of sPvP is to have a PvP environment where you cannot bully your way into winning by having superior gear, rather than being a better player.

Of course, they could always allow you to use the skins of the items you have in PvE. Though even that would have a few issues, namely Legendaries and PvP rewards.
