I would have to say a big NO to this.
The boxes from champions give out scrolls of knowledge at a ridiculous rate. It’s already dreadful that you can have an alt that is level 20 and has more skillpoints than they can spend on learning all of their skills 10 minutes into creating them. Quite frankly, it would be faster for anyone with an existing level 80 character to just farm champs for 70+ scrolls to get their alt from 1 to 80 than to actually play them.
And what comes to crafting an alt to level 80. It’s very costly so it’s not something you can do easily. On the other hand, farming champs and using excess Scrolls of Knowledge (like you seem to want) to level a character to 80 is profitable.
And what’s with selling/trading everything? Honestly, if it’s gold you want, you can already do that with the Mystic Forge.
Daecollo again…
But anyways, I don’t like the effects, yet the idea is good.
For charge, tho, I would do something like:
Swiftness 10 s
Stability 5s
Cleanse any mobility condition: chilled, crippled or immobilized.
Stun breaks.With a 60s cool down
Of course the cleanse and boons go for up to 5 people on radius. And the cleanse take effect before the soldier runes.
That to me is an Elite shout, that actually matters for group support. Considering that going on shouts means more boon duration, it is very powerful for a real “charge”.
Tell me, where would you see this thing of yours being used mostly?
To me, it looks like a zerg thing for WvW. Because let’s be honest, no one would take that if they’re going solo or in an organized group. Much less for dungeons.
Btw, in case there’s still doubt, I just logged in and found that I had the option to it. In case someone’s wondering:
- I am not a part of any guild
- I have never done any PvP
- I have done a total of 7 Fractals
- I have never used gw2lfg
- Am not associated with some inner ANet circle
It’s currently quite early in the EU, so it’s pretty empty. Gotta say though, at least it’s a “here’s a party with spots”, rather than having to put yourself up as a specific profession/spec. That’s good.
Honestly, I would give it some time. Right now, there’s Tequatl and it’s a new thing not yet available to all. Even when it’s available to everyone, it’s gonna take a while before people can get out of their habitual gw2lfg.

The big problem is that the cooldown is too low. All elites have long cooldowns. In fact, I’m pretty sure Signet of Rage has the shortest cooldown of any elite.
Basilisk Venom beats Signet of Rage by a significant factor.
Everyone would be exploiting some kind of runes that work on elite usage if it had a 20s cooldown (traited).
If you’re thinking of Rune of Lyssa, the wiki claims it has an ICD to counter that.
But yes, I have to agree, the cooldown is too short. Especially when you consider how much support from traits Shouts already get. We’re talking healing, adrenaline gain and reduced cooldowns. And of course condi removal with Rune of Soldier.
“Charge!” (25 second cooldown.)
Weaken your foes and grant swiftness and might to yourself and allies.
Weakness: 15 s
Swiftness: 15 s
3 Might: 25 s
Range: 600
Looks like a variant of FGJ.
I don’t think we need another source of permanent Might stacks. And in PvE, you could probably use that to provide all of your party with a ridiculous amount of Might stacks. For example, this would be looking at:
- 50% Boon Duration and 60% Might Duration, thus
- 3 stacks of Might for 52.5s on For Great Justice on a 20s cooldown
- Fury for 12s on For Great Justice on a 20s cooldown
- 3 Stacks of Might for 52.5s on Charge! on a 20s cooldown
- Swiftness for 22.5s on Charge! on a 20s cooldown
In effect, you’re looking at providing a constant 12 stacks of Might to your Party. For yourself, the Sigil of Battle would provide an additional 3 stacks for 42s on a 10s cooldown, or 12 more stacks.
Also, October 15th is gonna lower Lung Capacity to Tier 1, so you could throw in a Warhorn and you’d add in Swiftness for 15s on a 12s cooldown and Vigor for 15s on a 16s cooldown. In fact, I think that we should leave shouts alone until that patch hits and see how if it turns into loads of Yojack Warriors.
And as someone pointed out, the weakness duration is too high. It’d be permanent weakness with a shout build. Permanent weakness and easy access to permanent vigor (swap 20% Might duration for 15% boon duration) is a bit much.
I would definitely go for the mouse. The additional thumb buttons allow you to bind most/all of your stuff to the mouse, leaving you with movement and toggle stuff on your keyboard.
And of course there’s the fact that you can use the mouse outside of the game, whereas a keypad like the n52te is only useful for playing games.
Personally, I use a comfy mouse and a keyboard that has keys and hotkeys that I like. In my case that amounts to Zowie EC1 eVo for a mouse and Microsoft Sidewinder X4 for a keyboard.

You have a 25% – 50% -75% – 100% chance to get a Random Chest.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ascended_chest25% / 17 = 1.47% Chance to get the chest you want.
50% / 17 = 2.9% Chance to get the chest you want.
75% / 17 = 4.4% Chance to get the chest you want.
100% / 17 = 5.8% Chance to get the chest you want. The numbers are actually quite low if you take into the account the RNG, CRAFTING WILL STILL BE THE BEST WAY… by a long shot.
I feel that currently, I like the hardness of the fight. However right now the fight is just not worth the risk. You heard me right, the fight is just pointless, soon nobody will do this unless its nerfed to the ground.
Why? It has the same horrible drop-rate as it did before, and its only 100 times harder. I will just do other easier world events.
What should you do about it?
First of all, make the kill REWARDING…75% Health
25% Chance to drop a random Ascended Weapon Chest. (of any stats.)
8% Chance to drop the special new Tequatl Weapon skins.50% Health
50% Chance to drop a random Ascended Weapon Chest. (of any stats.)
16% Chance to drop the special new Tequatl Weapon skins.25% Health
75% Chance to drop a random Ascended Weapon Chest. (of any stats.)
25% Chance to drop the special new Tequatl Weapon skins.0%, You successfully downed him.
100% Chance to drop a random Ascended Weapon Chest. (of any stats.)
33% Chance to drop the special new Tequatl Weapon skins. This would make the fight MUCH more rewarding, you still have a chance to get a Random Box however since the box is random you still have incentive to keep killing him, it is just not such a LOW chance that its not worth doing.
Currently..
I have no incentive to do this, I have the scales/ore from the last update and I would rather make my legendary or craft one then do this, its simply NOT WORTH MY TIME.
Um… I sure hope that those percentages are at event fail/success, rather than cumulative. Because in the latter case, you’d be looking at an average of 2.5 chests per successful killing, which is ridiculous.
Also, all of your numbers have the premise that the player only wants 1 stat. Most people have alts with different specs, so a lot of the weapons would actually find use. Personally, I could use Berserker/Valkyrie/Soldier/Assassin/Cavalier/Sentinel on my Warrior and I could probably go for a condi spec on some other character with Dire/Rabid/Rampager/Shaman/Settler/Apothecary. That puts me at 12/17. And I only have 2 lvl 80 characters.
Dumb suggestion, as it would make stealth kinda pointless.
In any 1v1, the Thief would basically be visible 24/7. And then you’d just have a dead thief.
End result? Everyone starts playing an S/D evade spec. And then everyone rages about that, rather than stealth.
high regeneration(warrior, ranger, guardian, elementalist)
Pretty sure a Thief can get kitten close to a Warrior in terms of hp/s, if not above it. Shadow’s Rejuvenation is superior to Healing Signet at 1,980 hp, which of course isn’t a very realistic figure. However, throw in Withdraw or Signet of Malice and the numbers favor the Thief. Shadow Protector easily gets you permanent Regeneration if necessary.

Shouts do damage when using a shout?
I was under the impression that only applied during combat. Am I mistaken?
You are mistaken. For me, Warrior’s Sprint was a big change, as it allowed me to swap a Warhorn for a Shield. Or a Mace.
As far as I know, you can’t salvage inscriptions, only runes and sigils.
With the Ascended patch, they made it possible to salvage inscriptions for combinations that you cannot make via crafting.
^ I used sword (power) and mace in pve. Can’t complain about them.
Mace for weakness stack, and block
Sword dmg inst that bad as ppl trying make it to be.
I would use Sword in PvE if it wasn’t so utterly boring. Without condi damage, you’re left with auto-attacking and Final Thrust once the mob/boss is down to <50% hp. In comparison, with an Axe I can actually use Cyclone and Eviscerate, which is a lot of fun.
Triple weapon set is an old idea, it was discussed a lot but (apart from being balanced or OP) the problem is its implementation. Game mechanics don’t allow three weapon sets, Hero panel doesn’t have three slots, question about shortcuts (you rotate between them or you have 3 buttons to switch, each for a weapon?).
You’ll never see that happen, too drastic.
And honestly, 3 weapon sets would make certain choices trivial. For example, you would pretty much see everyone either with a mobility set (Sword/Warhorn) or a ranged weapon, because there’s really not much reason not to take one. Not to mention that everyone would be running with a Sigil of Battle, because you’d have 3-6 sigil slots, so it would be awesome.
And quite honestly, I’m not sure that the current trait system would support it at all. Right now, some weapons benefit from traits that overlap with other weapons and traits. The result is that you’re left usually with a single trait-backed weapon and one that isn’t. I cannot think of a single three-weapon set that would allow for all/some of the supported traits to be used in a single build without sacrificing some of our global support traits.
Well, if you’re not willing to attack your enemy to get rid of the Blind, your options are down to a pre-emptive Berserker Stance, Signet of Stamina and waiting it out.
I don’t miss what I experienced as a DD in other games. That being awkward discrimination based on (among other things) level and gear, not to mention generally feeling useless since for every tank there would be a dozen DDs.
Besides that, I don’t enjoy the pressure that you get as a tank or a healer. If you screw up and your team wipes, which can be down to the timing of a single cleanse or something ridiculous like that, you get insults thrown in your face that you really don’t deserve.
There aren’t even any Rare or Exotic foods.
By “ascended food” I’m referring to whatever we’ll make at the level cap…not the actual rarity of the food we’ll be making. Sorry for the confusion.
Well, since we don’t even have Rare nor Exotic food, what makes you think the devs think that they should add more?
Heck, even right now some foods are extremely powerful. Just look at all the topics complaining about some profession with Lemongrass Poultry Soup.
I honestly don’t see any reason why there should be any better foods when they’re already strong enough to take a weak profession to the point where everyone rages about it.
There aren’t even any Rare or Exotic foods.
I would suggest you give up and open a steakhouse instead.
Just one thing. Don’t put in any numbers for your skills. Damage, cooldowns, stuff like that is balance-related and not essential for your class. Not to mention that the way you’ve depicted the damage numbers tells me that you don’t even know how the damage on the tooltip is counted. No offense.
So for example, instead of “Deal 200 damage and apply 5 stacks of Vulnerability for 10s”, make it “Deal damage and apply Vulnerability”. I think you should focus less on the exact details of the skills and more on the general idea. For example, instead of listing all the skills, you should just tell what you see as the main purpose of the weapon and whether it’s meant to be melee/mid/long range.
Other than that, there’s a lot of things that are missing:
- No Elites
- No Healing skills
- No mention of base HP (there’s three tiers of that)
- No proper explanation of the class-specific utilities
- No traits
I dislike this for one simple reason: Having one profession at level 80 does not amount to anything for the other professions.
Just because I have 800 hours in my Warrior doesn’t mean I would be any good on a Guardian. Even more ridiculously, how about I go from 200 hours on Thief to 0 on Engineer/Ranger?
Are you talking about 30/30/30/30/30 build ?
Nope, 0/10/30/0/30 build, which will turn into 0/10/30/30/0 after the buffs.
Not gonna happen. The 0/10/30/0/30 is highly optimized for the stun spec. All the points make perfect sense and are (in the case of hammer) integral to the success of it.
Putting 30 from Discipline to Tactics would basically result in reducing the amount of stuns you can get off by a ridiculous factor: the adrenaline you need to generate would be 50% higher, your damage would be a ton lower (less crit damage%, no burst mastery) and the cooldown would also be 50% longer. That amounts to a crapton less damage and a crapton less stuns.
And btw, the shout changes aren’t that big. We’re talking Lung Capacity in Adept and a slight boost to Vigorous Shouts. The former will mostly find use with Warhorn Shout builds, enabling them to grab both Lung Capacity and Quick Breathing, whereas the latter isn’t nearly as big as you think: it goes from 1,192 hp per shout to ~1,500.
Well, things brings up a few questions. From the looks of it, you’re basically looking for a game-wide Gambit system.
First off, how do you see this working with team-based content? Could I just put this kitten up in a dungeon, have others carry me safely and get better rewards than everyone else? Because that sounds like Magic Find and you know how that ended up.
Second off, how do you see this working in WvW? Again, could I just jump into a zerg, put this thing up and get better rewards for no risk at all?
Third off, how the heck would this work in PvP? PvP isn’t about drops, you know, so doing something like this would have to mean you get more points. But even then, it would probably end up in a mess akin to Magic Find.
Fourth off, why would having a system like this have anything to do with clothes? I can understand the image, but I just don’t see how it’s necessary. Not to mention that the last thing we need is a bunch of female characters running around in underwear because that gets them fat lootz.
Also, keep in mind that Colin has said that bringing Hard Mode to dungeons is extremely unlikely, as they believe that would lead to splitting the dungeon community into two factions.
If it’s purely from a damage point of view, the answer is “both”. Here is a chart that shows the average damage multipliers in 5% increments of crit and crit damage.
Just from looking at the gear, you’ll note that it’s much easier to get crit damage% than it is to get crit%.
(edited by Olba.5376)
Longbow is the one weapon I always take to WvW.
That’s what you get for focusing on champion farming.
I don’t quite see the point of Mobile Strikes with Melandru runes and Dogged March.
If it was me, I would drop Mobile Strikes, get Sharpened Axes instead and use Lemongrass soup.
And I’ll be honest, I tried similar sets of gear. I used to be full Soldier armor with Knight/Berserker trinkets. Nowadays I run Berserker armor with Knight trinkets, mostly because I noticed that the biggest damage I was taking from Backstab still wasn’t enough to get me killed either way.
Also, I don’t think Leg Specialist is worth it. You’ll get much better use out of getting 10 into Arms and grabbing Unsuspecting Foe, which will allow you to Shield Bash > Eviscerate for nearly guaranteed crits.
If you wanna stick with the Soldier armor, this is what I would go for.
As for the healing skills, I personally find that the ton of -condition duration% with Cleansing Ire is enough and I opt for Healing Surge.
Personally, I am not a fan of Defy Pain. I prefer 0/30/20/0/20, mostly because I love the amount of adrenaline Furious and Sharpened Axes generate. If I was more of a WvW freak, I would probably go for 0/20/20/0/30 instead, mostly for Forceful Greatsword.
(edited by Olba.5376)
Wasn’t the axe mainhand changed because people noticed that you got more DPS by not using Triple Chop at all? Because if you ask me, people repeating the first two attacks of an autoattack chain sounds like something that should be fixed.
I prefer to rework axe chain completely and make it 3 hits like every other weapon. A medium dmg fast hitting hits or at least unnerf it.
That’s gonna be a tough call. The axe chain takes a lot longer to complete than some other chains (such as sword) and the reason that skills like Triple Chop can have the high damage that they do is because it’s got a channel. Making Double Chop and Triple Chop 1 hit each would either have to come with longer animations reminiscent of Mace auto-attack or a significant nerf to the base damage at the cost of being much faster.
And personally, I like Axe MH because it’s got 6 hits. Throw in Sharpened Axes and Furious and it generates ridiculous amounts of adrenaline on its own.
I would like to see two things happen in WvW. First, make all the wxp points and rewards account wide. Yes I can guess at a few arguments against that, but overall I feel its a good idea. Second, make it to where you can not queue upgrades in a keep/tower unless you’re in the guild that has claimed that keep/tower. Again, I can see some issues with that, but overall it would stop the random people from running in and queuing random upgrades.
The wxp thing would cause some issues. If you had grinded out the wxp on more than one character and were already done, you would’ve “wasted” time. If you had alts, you would be rewarded tremendously.
As for your claiming thing, it will never happen. Simply because then you could easily have spies/trolls claiming locations to block the actual wvw players from claiming and using them.
go to reddit if you want to see the patch notes and a great comment thread about how shout warriors will become OP lmao
“Vigorous Shouts: Increased the base healing by 25%. Increased the healing stat scaling from 80% to 90%.”
I still think it probably won’t be worth 30 trait points.
Well, the patch notes also move Lung Capacity to Tier 1. This would allow x/Warhorn shout warriors to get Lung Capacity, Quick Breathing and Vigorous Shouts.
And the base heal increase of 25% is pretty significant, it goes up from 1,192 to 1,490.
i think torment should be removed by “hide in shadows” because this healskill removes all dots. but it doesnt, i think they forgot it.
The effect of the skill never explicitly stated “removes all damage over time effects”.
Torment was added much, much later than Hide in Shadows.
All of the events must be done within a few weeks and I am really getting tired of it. There is very little new explore or and story content. Instead, almost everything except the Southsun map since October has been limited time events with the grind for candy, skins, tokens, sprockets, luck, treasure, etcetera. Limited time events are becoming so large that both lag and the need to loot first are driving the fun out of the game. It just isn’t casual gaming anymore.
Well the thing is, you cannot just give people a new area. You have to make it relevant. Remember how people complained that Southsun Cove was a waste of space because it had nothing once the event ended?
And let’s be honest, new zones are very problematic from a PR standpoint. Because currently, there’s an absolutely vast amount of GW1 related areas that are, in some cases, even named on the map. So every time you release a new area, it’s going to be expected to relate to GW1. If it doesn’t, everyone hates it. If it does, it’ll get flak from the people who have another zone they would rather see.
Tell me, why do you need to do all the stuff in the Living Story? Why can’t it just be a change of air for you? Is it because you’re in the competition for the AP? Is it because you want to gather all the limited skins? Is it because you feel that you have to complete all the new content? Because all of those are problems with you, not the game. Nothing the devs can do to fix it. Well, they can take away the AP and the rewards, but that’ll cut down a lot of the participation in Living Story. And let’s be honest, while there are tons of people who do it for the rewards, there’s also tons of people for whom the rewards are just good enough to be the tipping point to get them into doing it. And that last part is why the rewards are in place.
I think 100 Blades is fine in PvE.
The skill doesn’t have anything going for it other than the high damage. Look at other multihit skills, such as Flurry, Blurred Frenzy, Pistol Whip, Zealot’s Defense and Unload. All of them have something to make the lower damage balanced, whether it’s an effect that shields during the channeling or being ranged.
Inb4DaecolloAsking100bDamageReducedForProtection
Honestly, I don’t think our interrupt-heavy sets (Hammer, Mace/Shield) need any more easy-to-access interrupts. Especially with the whole Distracting Strikes/Rune of Perplexity thing.
The only proper source of undead in GW2 would be Risen. And those aren’t even a race. Not to mention Risen are Zhaitan’s minions.
Well, first off, the only variation even close to that would be Toughness/Power/Crit damage%. That’s called Cavalier’s.
It only exists in trinkets. You can’t get armor with that.
Sigils akin to the effects seen in some runes. That is:
- On healing skill usage
- On elite skill usage
- When hit
So, how about a bar for gold find and we can use the luck on either gold or magic find.
But goldfind wasn’t taken away from your gear. In fact, goldfind was always available in the sources that MF can currently be gotten, except the Luck bar.
So it really doesn’t make sense. That’s like asking for more goldfind.
They also increased the amount of karma you get from the jugs, bottles, flasks etc. by 50%. So when consuming them, they gave you a free, permanent karma booster.
And they also reduced daily and monthly rewards to 600 and 6000 respectivelly from pre “buff” 4500 and 45000.
86% less karma from what it used to be main source is not much of an increase. (91% percent less if you consider buffed jugs to add insult to injury)
Said source (especially the daily) made Karma gained from other sources rather insignificant.
So in my book, it’s a good change. But maybe it’s a bit on the high side. Could’ve just halved it it to like 2000 karma on the daily. And let’s be honest, the Essences of Luck aren’t worth the effort.
Eternity is exactly that.
And it’s the most expensive item in the game.
It’s probably an oversight from taking out MF from gear.
I think that the reason why jumping puzzles have a much lower amount is because it’s possible to get to the chest with a Mesmer portal, requiring just about zero time and zero effort.
If I had to put a guess somewhere, I would say it was nerfed because the daily was insane in terms of karma gain, especially if you consider that you can get a daily done in less than an hour.
And as others have pointed out, with events being the biggest sources of karma, maybe someone somewhere figured that lowering the Daily karma to a less significant amount would make people more focused on completing events.
They need to make it a little more unappealing somehow. Orr temples are getting swarmed, lagging out the server and a lot of people lose out on credit and items.
Currently, the temples being occupied by players has less to do with Champion loot and more to do with the guaranteed 30 Dragonite Ore you get for it.
A temple spawns only a handful of champions and is fairly difficult, whereakittenting a few champs at specific locations would be quicker for the same amount of bags.
Just happens that the temples are the only place that has that guaranteed amount of Dragonite Ore. World bosses drop a very random amount that can be <10 or >20.
I find it mildly hilarious that some people seem completely unable to stop chasing someone for 5+ minutes.
Because let me tell you, if someone runs away from you for an extended period of time, most likely they aren’t going to come back. Most likely they want absolutely nothing to do with you.
But no, you need to have that kill. Because everyone knows that unless you have that corpse in your feet, it’s not even a proper kill. It’s not even a kill at all. It’s not even a proper thrown fight.
Um… Are you suggesting that banners generate a permanent combo field?
That would be way OP.
Hi, I’ve been seeing this term in almost all Ascended crafting threads but it’s never explained. What does it mean?
“Timegate” in this context refers to an in-game limitation put on the manufacturing. Manufacturing Deldrimor Steel Ingot and Spiritwood Plank has a 24 hour cooldown, making it so that you can only make 1 of them every 24 hours.
270 Thermocatalytic Reagent isnt arround 80g
Yes it’s 40g my mistake. 270 for 15s every 10 = 15s for 27 = 40g
Your numbers are off by a digit.
15s for 10 means the price for 270 is 27 × 15s = 405s. Since 100s = 1g, you end up with 4.05g.
@OP: Did you forget to consider that maybe Ascended weapons aren’t something that they intended for you to have on every single slot? Kinda like how you’re not expected to have 1-4 Legendaries on your character?
ANet fell a long way from their time of GW1 then.
“Sorry guys, we don’t expect people to have BiS items any time soon. GW1 was too fair and skill based you see? We want it to be about who is the biggest farmer”
Looking at the OP, I think people are rushing a bit too much to the Ascended stuff.
Colin has literally gone on record saying that Exotics were too easy to get, which ended up not matching their idea for BiS stuff.
Looking at the OP’s numbers, he’s got a total of 5 weapons and 32-52 hours of gameplay for the Empyreal Fragments. If he doesn’t buy Empyreal Fragments and Deldrimor Steel Ingots from the TP, he’s looking at a minimum of 6 days per weapon, for a total of 30 days. Getting 32-52 hours of gameplay within 30 days amounts to 1-2 hours a day.
Compared to various other games, being able to get BiS gear within a month and by playing as little as 1-2 hours a day is amazingly low.
You cannot buy Empyreal Fragments from the TP.
My bad, I meant Spiritwood Planks. So long as you don’t circumvent the timegating by buying them from the TP, you’re looking at a bare minimum of 6 Deldrimor Steel Ingots and 5 Spiritwood Planks per weapon, for a total of 30 and 25 for the OP’s proposed 5 weapons.
Surely you cannot say that the OP’s calculated 30-50 hours in a month is too much for BiS gear?
