Hey everyone,
I wanted to answer and clarify some of the questions and concerns I’ve seen in the thread so far.
1. What is meant by “standard majority” and “super majority”? When we say something is decided by a “standard majority”, we are saying that the winning choice is decided by a majority vote. When we say something is decided by a “super majority”, we are saying that the winning choice must have at least 75% of the votes.
2. Why is this vote using “standard majority”? This is because you are voting to add the hammers into the game as a trial to test and play with them. Then after folks have had time to play with and experience the hammers, and decide if they like or dislike them – we will hold a second poll for the hammers requesting a “super majority” vote to keep the hammers as a permanent aspect of WvW.
3. How will repair hammers work? The current design is that you will be able to purchase the repair hammer from the tricks and traps vendor. When you consume the hammer it will replace your weapon skills with 1 skill that allows you to repair any siege. If you drop the hammer or die you will need to consume another repair hammer to use the repair hammer skill.
4. Why aren’t repair hammers part of the repair master ability line? If this item is voted to be a permanent feature of the game it will be added to the repair master ability line as a final pip. However, for the trial (the current poll) it will not be part of the ability line because it becomes harder for us to disable the item if it is attached to an ability line, and we need to be able to disable anything easily that is in beta. Also, repair hammers will work with the current repair master ability line; so for example if you are maxed out on the ability line you can spend 10 supply at once repairing siege with the repair hammer.
5. How much development time is spent on repair hammers? I’ll start with some backstory on repair hammers; they have been nearly complete for a couple years now but we had decided to never add them in game due to not having a way to properly test their impact on live. Now that we can beta this change on live and can disable them if players are unhappy, we have decided to see if players would want to test them on a trial basis. For those concerned about how this impacts the development of content already voted upon, it is also important to understand that different people work on different aspects of the game. Currently it is mostly programmer work that is left for scoring and QoL, but repair hammer work is design work.
6. Will repair hammers work on golems? Repair Hammers do work on golems, but only when no one is inside of them.
So from this I’m assuming that the repair hammer can be used on all siege, offensive and defensive? And since you only mentioned siege golems, does that mean that other siege can be repaired while someone is using it? Otherwise I don’t see why you would single out siege golems like you did. To some people these are the biggest factors with whether repair hammers will be a good addition or not.
It is indeed possible to farm bags that have materials in them, including leather. Then open them on a character around the level of the tier you are trying to obtain. It is possible, many have done it already. The leather node for home instance is available in the gem store as another option.
Everyone would like more options but there aren’t any at present. Farming the gold to purchase something is indeed earning it yourself, not sure how that could be seen as otherwise.
Farming gold is not farming leather. Farming leather results in directly yielding leather. If you have to go through the TP then it is farming gold plain and simple. Same thing with bags. Show me any bag that is easy enough to acquire in large quantities that is guaranteed to give you leather of a certain tier. You can’t because they don’t exist. Just because bags drop leather doesn’t mean that counts as leather farming. ANet has not introduced a way to farm leather in this game
This is how disappointment gets started. A plant grew through a crack in the ground.
INB4 in a few months people will be QQing
“Where is my GODkitten ED legendary mawdrey ANET! You promised us we would have legendary Mawdrey! I have some random person on the forums who isn’t afiliated with you at all that promised me I would get legendary Mawdrey!!!”
To all the people who assume farming gold and buying leather on TP = farming leather…… they aren’t the same thing. Not even close. Farming gold is one thing. Farming a material is another.
We have ways of truly farming wood, metal ores, and plant stuff in this game. We have no way to farm leather outside of map rewards occasionally. You can tell people to farm gold and buy leather on TP all you want, but don’t pretend like that is the same thing as actually farming leather. Farming leather can only happen if there is a reliable way to obtain it yourself, ie some type of leather nodes. TP isn’t earning it yourself. And salvaging is not guaranteed to be leather.
Eh what? If this passes I assure you its going into WvW as Anet has already designed it. There are no what ifs and there is no beta test with a vote to keep it. This is the vote. Yes or no, choose.
That is for the next vote to decide.
Not this one as it clearly says:
“After players have had a chance to test repair hammers we will hold a follow-up poll* to determine if repair hammers should become a permanent feature of the game.”*75% have to vote no to hammers or they will stay forever.
What, you know this will happen.
This poll is the deciding factor.
This poll is NOT the deciding factor. This poll is to bring them into beta test. Once they are tested a bit we will get another poll whether to keep them in the game forever or not. And honestly until we know exactly how they will work, no one can say for sure that they will make WvW worse. No one. Just grow the hell up and chill the kitten out. Believe it or not you will be fine regardless of what option wins the poll.
I vote yes, but there needs to be a stipulation like they cant no be used on siege that has inflicted or received damage in the last x minutes.
You have clearly defined reservations yet you vote yes anyway… Thats exactly how the border vote nearly ended in disaster for the community.
But I digress. Without knowing the actual implementation, this only empowers zergs siege humping. Sometimes bring down siege just in the nick of time is critical. I dont want to see 50 people standing there constantly repairing it despite it being hit with 20 ballista bolts. We dont even know if its gonna be 1:1 drain which would be bad. I would also consider say a 3:1 drain being acceptable (ie if a ram cost 50 to build, it cost 150 to repair 0-100) but kitten if I’m going to vote yes on wishfull thinking.
kitten man. Wait until they enter the game before crying about it. You literally have zero idea how we will be able to use them. For all we know we won’t be able to use them on any siege that is deemed in combat, which makes literally all of your “arguments” in this thread pointless. Or we might only be allowed to use them on defensive, immovable siege. Or we may only be able to repair a siege once. You honestly have absolutely zero idea how they will be implemented. And even then its just a beta test. If people don’t like it then they will be taken out. Jesus christ chill the kitten out man. You are acting like this will destroy the whole game because ANet is giving us the option to vote on whether something comes into the game. Its fine if you don’t want them. Other people clearly do, so be a kittening reasonable person and let us see how ANet implements them before QQing all over the kitten place
Thanks guys, I’ll work on getting reaper unlocked. Until then I’ll try what @gavyne suggested with the power reaper build.
I think it means Taimi went missing again and part of the first episode will be to rescue her. There is a reason we started on log #8, someone found it after she was gone.
Some content needs to be challenging and only challenging.
Obviously, there are many who disagree with this statement.
Providing multiple difficulty tiers in no way alters the harder experience – and I firmly believe that most hardcore players are mature enough to not feel that something someone else is doing in a completely different instance – that they acknowledge isn’t as demanding – someone diminishes their accomplishment.
It’s either out of selfishness or some silly grade school playground “you can’t play with my toys” complex.
I don’t raid, which means I don’t have the rewards, so its neither of those. Its just good game design. Some content needs to stay challenging. And considering that some guilds have cleared wings with 6 people, or in all masterwork gear its definitely possible for anyone to clear raid bosses with enough practice. Its at the perfect difficulty where it is right now in my opinion. It most definitely does not need to be made easier
Any way to see the achieve requirements in hero panel? Or first i have to do “blindly” that specific achieve and only after that it will appear in hero panel?
It’s under ‘General’ in the achievements tab
They are all hidden until you start/complete them. So if you don’t know what you have to do then checking there won’t help you because you can’t see them
So I made a Necro, used the HoT lvl 80 boost on him and have been playing through the personal story to get a feel for him, but he just feels so slow. And not just his walking speed, but its mostly the fighting. It feels lethargic almost, I seem to hit slowly, kill enemies slowly and each fight seems to take way longer than it should especially considering all the conditions I can put on mobs. Its definitely tanky due to the minions, never have to worry about dying.
I’m not a fan of this playstyle but I would love to enjoy Necro so I would greatly appreciate some help finding a build that feels faster or more fluid in fights.
Right now I’m running
Blood magic 2 – 2 – 1
Death magic 1 – 1 – 2
Soul reaping 2 – 2 – 1
Dagger/warhorn
Scepter/focus
Summon Blood fiend / Well of Suffering / Summon Bone Minions / Summon Shadow Fiend / Summon Flesh Golem
yeah, that jump took me a few tries back in the old days ><
Not nearly so unsafe now that we can glide in the majority of the world, but i’m never sorry to hear about people being helpful =)
Try that jump in the LW episode. Gives you all of 1 AP, no gliding in case you miss it or miss a jump on the way up, and no air crystals to jump up quickly. You have to actually do the whole JQ to the top of the kitten ed place. I died at least 100 times from falling to get that kittening 1 AP ANet.
You’re still confused here. Yes indeed the backpacks are designed to level with your character, in that you can craft the first one related to a profession and wear it at level 1, upgrade it to a level 15 version, level 30, 45, 60, and 78. It does indeed level with you. But it wasn’t kept at level 78 so you could keep leveling with it to 80. Its already been through 78 levels with you and you can’t upgrade it again. Leaving it at level 78 had nothing to do with having it “grow” with your character for 2 whole levels.
I think you might be the confused one. I’m just providing facts, not opinions.
Nope. I’m the only one who provided facts. The backpacks level up with you from level 1. The only point in having the last tier be at level 78 is to not allow you to put a level 80 upgrade in it. If it was meant to continue leveling with you to 80 then there would be a version or upgrade you could make to put in a level 80 upgrade. Since you cannot do that, these backpacks were never designed to be able to level with you past level 78. That is a fact, I don’t know why you refuse to understand that.
Almost no one on these forums is advocating removing hardcore content or saying that it shouldn’t be in the game. In fact, most go out of their way to say the opposite.
The argument is that, just because a game mode includes hardmode content doesn’t mean it can’t also offer a more casual experience – and that, in fact, by offering that experience alongside hardcore content, you will encourage more people to try it out, give devs a reason to continue making that content and give the truly casual players something fun to do as well.
I’m tired of people saying that anyone who criticizes the current raid model is immediately anti-hard content. It simply isn’t true.
To the topic at hand, the reason people are focusing on the 5 vs 10 player part of WP’s video is because that is a fairly new perspective that hasn’t been discussed – at great length – on these forums, whereas the rest of his points have (a lot).
The problem with a casual mode of raids is that you have two options. You can either give the same rewards to the casual runners, which is not fair to the actual raid runners as the rewards are supposed to show dedication to learning the hardest PvE content in the game. If everyone could get it by running the casual raids then it would take away all of the prestige of having these rewards. Or you could not give the rewards to the casual runners, which would kitten them off. And it would also raise the question of why we have the casual mode in the first place.
Like it or not. Some content needs to be challenging and only challenging. Not all content should be available for all players, including those who don’t want to try and apply themselves to learning the mechanics. They don’t deserve access to raids and raid rewards if they aren’t willing to put in the time to learn the mechanics of the fights. As time goes on raids will get easier as people learn the mechanics more. I mean look at dungeons 3.5 years ago and today.
Thanks for the info guys. Anet… I will not be buying the expansion.
What a strange reaction. HoT was the update that changed how Guilds work yes, but that doesn’t mean that its not worth buying. It does bring a lot of content to the table. A new profession, elite specs, 4 new maps, guild halls (which are pretty kitten cool), new stat combinations for armor and weapons, new runes, masteries (and gliding, which is so kitten fun), new achievements, new weapon and armor sets and lots of new collection achievements (which for me are a lot of fun). And even if you don’t buy it your guild won’t magically go back to how it was before, so this isn’t even rational.
But yes for the most part, your not really invested with the GW2 cast all that much, I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because I’m older.
I’m 32 and only until this year, I played The Last of Us; Sarah, Joel’s daughter appears only for about 15 minutes at the beginning of the game, and her fate practically moved me to tears.
15 minutes in.
Talk about characterization done right. Take Belinda Delaqua. She’s introduced in one episode and killed off the next. Disposable character, no emotional impact, no nothing. Eir’s death was better executed, but still.
I don’t think it is a matter of maturity, rather than execution/writing.
Personally I think that Tonn in the personal story had one of the larger personalities in all the story instances. I actually really did care about his death and thought it was very emotional, especially later when you go talk to Ceera. I think that was done excellently.
Idk, I find this guy video so long.. might be entertaining to some, but not me :P
One good thing about WP is that you can watch his videos on 1.5 speed and still make out everything he is saying quite clearly
his videos are still longer than others even at 1.5 speed but I find most of them are quite easy to get through
They are intended for leveling. Once you get to level 80 you are supposed to work towards replacing them with ascended pieces.
That’s not an argument to make them level 78. Other exotic gear is level 80 and yet people are still “supposed” to work towards replacing that gear with ascended.
Making them level 80 would prevent you from equipping it until level 80 which would make it awfully difficult to use while leveling…
Yes because there is so much leveling to be done between 78 and 80. I doubt this is the reason
Prior to the introduction of these crafted backpieces, 99% of all back items were for max level. When they announced these, they stated that the intention was so that you could have a back item that grew with your character.
So… leveling.
You’re still confused here. So I’m just wondering are the build/skills broken?
No they aren’t.
When (and even before) GW2 came out, I remember the hype about how the skills are so varied, and traits are so different that you can play GW2 any way that you want.
And it turned out that wasn’t that great a thing. When evaluated, the 600 different permutations had 300 really bad one and several thousand people had rolled those, giving them not only just a sub-optimal experience but a really, really bad one.
However, you can’t play anyway that you want.
There are some builds that just don’t work. Some traits and skills that are, quite frankly pointless.Under the new system there aren’t builds that “just don’t work”. If they didn’t work you wouldn’t be able to create them, log in as them and play the game on them. Have you got any examples of what you mean and in which game type?
There are even some players, where all I see is the metabuild running everywhere.
And? Not sure what your point is. Players using meta builds? Surely this is a good thing? Only some players but you see them everywhere? Are you talking about guildies?
unless you run the metabuild, you don’t seem to be able to keep up, to participate as much, and be as effective.
Keep up with whom? You may not do as much damage with a non-meta build or not heal as much but you should be able to keep up by pressing the forward button. Participation is on the 1 button and effectivenes.. well that’s the definition of the meta build. The most effective one. So this is a tautology.
That to me, sounds broken
Well no, to me you sound confused about what the meta is and why it is. I can log in with my meta build and play the game. It’s working.
@ General Health Sorry, but you have no idea what you’re talking about. Instead of answering this guy’s question, you just confused him by spitting random opinions at him and avoiding his actual questions. I’d rather you didn’t respond to any future questions in the manner that you answered this one.
1. Yes, a lot of builds are broken – and by broken, I mean they just don’t work well enough to be viable. Builds that, logically, should be viable are not. This is coming from an experienced GW1 player that made builds of his own for years.
2. Berserker is the only viable build (outside raids) and will always be the only viable build in PvE. That shows you right there how broken the mechanics are. There are tons of different armor types, yet choosing any armor aside from Berserker gear produces sub-par results.
3. I really don’t understand how someone can defend the mechanics and say, “Oh, it isn’t broken”, when players use berserker gear and only berserker gear. If it were meant to be so, there wouldn’t be other armor options. So, both the builds and the armor system are broken, yes.
Lol only zerker gear is viable to run in PvE? You must be playing a different game man. A lot of players don’t even like running zerker because its really not all that great. No condi at all in those stats. Absolutely none. And yet the current meta is condi condi condi. How can you seriously come in here and tell people that in a condi drive meta everyone is forced to use zerker gear? In fact the best part of that gear is that it turns you into such a glass cannon that it forces you to actually learn how to play your class without dying so that you are even more effective when you get some actually good gear to wear.
I wouldn’t be shocked if they did another number on Lion’s Arch again. The new look hasn’t exactly been well-received. Bring back Old Lion’s Arch, I say.
I didn’t get to see the original LA, but from the personal story missions that take place in old LA, its much better looking and I would love to have it back even if I do have to find y way around again
the original price for the complete package was 1600. this had a 20% reduction on it not long ago to 1280. a further 20% reduction has recently been added to it. making it 1024 at a 40% (technically) reduction of the original price.
You mean 960?
Not necessarily. It depends on what ANet meant. If they meant it was a total 40% off the base price of all 8 episodes then yes the price would be 960. However if they meant it would be a combined 40% off (eg 20% off of the 20% off price) then it would be 1024 gems.
The trailer highlights our “friends” who helped us defeat mordy………while technically they didn’t do squat where the beans are rox frostbite and kasmeer?! Aren’t they important?
This is the only problem? How about the complete lack of information about LW3? All we know id the date, that’s it. All it contained was a recap of the story of HoT, things we already know. It’s like outing out a trailer for star wars episode 8 and just telling you what happened in 7. I really don’t understand the point to it.
The biggest thing for me was that Kasmeer wasn’t in it. Short of Taimi she is by far my favorite character in the story episodes. But anyway all of the information about LWS3 that we have been given has been in the current events anyway. Its not like we don’t have any information. Especially if you Raid and have gotten to see that storyline, you have a pretty good idea of what LWS3 will be about.
They can’t be reset but there are plenty of mastery points to earn in order to finish all current masteries. If you need a few more and are stuck look online for guides or ask people in game to help you get them
DAOC also had a strange concept of arrows and siege fired from top of keep having bigger range than that fired from below up top
Not strange. Physically their range is limited by gravity pulling the projectiles to the ground. if you are way up high then it takes longer for gravity to do that, so your range is effectively increased. IDK how balanced it would be in GW2 but it makes perfect sense that they could have bigger range if they are on top of a wall
There are currently only 300 people in the entire game who have access to:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pinnacle_weapon_skins
These are by far the rarest weapons
https://leaderboards.guildwars2.com/en/na/achievements?page=12
There are 400 people who have more than 29,000 AP lol
They are intended for leveling. Once you get to level 80 you are supposed to work towards replacing them with ascended pieces.

Yes because there is so much leveling to be done between 78 and 80. I doubt this is the reason
Meh not my favorite maps but certainly not the worst maps in the game either. Would be nice to actually be able to go to the HoM though.
so they added more pve maps not pvp… havent they learn from stronghold? we want less pve in our pvp maps.
Most of the PvP maps have some PvE element for additional points. But stronghold was different in that it was actually a PvE map, you could only win by killing the other teams lord. This is still a conquest map, it still has nodes and you have to hold onto them to win. Its not a PvE map
Had to laugh at the guy spazzing out at :57 on the cata to the right.
Walls do need to be fixed but also not to the point where 20 AC’s deters a zerg from even bothering to try and capture it. Trying to capture a tower or keep is already a pain in the kitten with siege. Not being able to kill it would just make things even worse.
They could be more strict with the siege cap for that matter. Right now you can’t have 5 more than sieges in a 1200 radius. If they reduced that to 3 it would lower how much siege you can stack on a wall.
But before even thinking about that, walls should be changed.
I don’t know. I think that siege should be the primary factor in taking out a wall. But now its mostly people spamming their AOEs so that the other team can’t use their defensive siege at all. Would be nice if walls and people on top of them could only be targeted by offensive siege, and likewise only defensive siege could be placed up there, and in limited quantities (so no AC! Only mortars, cannons, and burning oil, possibly ballistas). This would actually allow defenders to use their defensive siege on the walls
Hi all,
I signed off on the first episode of Living World Season 3, and we’re getting ready to announce the episode and its release date. I’m super proud of the team for hitting this milestone. Over the past few weeks the team has been processing up to a hundred pieces of feedback each day, working to get all the details right.
Reaching sign-off on an episode doesn’t mean we’re done. Now we integrate the episode content with the other updates that ship in this release, and with localized text and voice-over, and we do final testing of all that. To give a sense of the scope of this process, this update has about 1,500 distinct lines of new voice dialog, each of which must be recorded, integrated, and tested in each supported language. For the player character’s voice, we separately record each race/sex combination in each language, so that means 40 actors for each line.
With this release, we’re bundling a Living World episode with additional content for other areas of the game. You’ve seen that we’ve been following a pattern of releasing a bundled update each quarter; this is a content-focused continuation of that kind of thing. Of course, we’ll give this release a name, not “July Quarterly Update”. And we may be able to increase the pace, ramping from four bundled releases per year towards six, so we’ll move away from calling these “quarterly”.
Some of you may look back nostalgically at 2013 when we shipped updates every two weeks. That year we shipped a wide variety of things: nine or ten releases that we’d today call a Living World episode, plus updates to systems and content for other parts of the game, plus festivals. So it was the extreme unbundled version of this. It was nice that there was always something new, but I’m personally not wistful of that cadence, because we sacrificed so much to be able to ship that frequently. With Season 3 our goal is to deliver content sustainably, at quality, establishing a pattern we don’t have to take breaks from.
It feels great to be shipping Living World again. Thanks for your patience through the recent content draught. Having been through it, I’m sure you understand why I’m focused on sustainability.
Stay tuned for a more formal announcement, and for more details from ArenaNet and our partners.
Mo
I’m sorry but did you really just use voice acting as an excuse for being so silent for so long regarding updates to the game? I’m extremely excited about LWS3, but don’t give us excuses about why it took so long
They are intended for leveling. Once you get to level 80 you are supposed to work towards replacing them with ascended pieces.
That’s not an argument to make them level 78. Other exotic gear is level 80 and yet people are still “supposed” to work towards replacing that gear with ascended.
these builds are instantly countered when you run appropriate condi removal builds, you can literally ignore them because they have no pressure
Agreed with this sentiment. You can walk away from most condition builds, and they can do nothing really to you. If in the event they try to chase you, they will waste precious cooldowns opening them up to being bursted down.
One of the issues with condi in wvw is the sheer amount of application in aoe format. It’s just too many high stacks of application from to many sources. I do agree that players that get caught out should be punished, but the number of stacks on some of these skills/damage is a little bit insane.
Oh so condi spam is a problem but boon spam isn’t? Both of them need to be toned down a lot in competitive game modes. In PvE they are fine as they don’t impact anyone else and allow less skilled players to still enjoy HoT maps. But in competitive modes both boon and condi spam need to be toned down massively
Walls are not defense. Players are defense. Walls are there to delay the enemy players so that friendly players can come and fight them.
Walls are most definitely a key part of defense.
Hahahaha… If it was a key part in defense then everything else would be secondary. Good luck having a wall defend itself.
GW2 walls is no more “defense” than barbed wire fence. Standing on a wall and firing on people below as opposed to standing on the ground and firing on people above is the exact same thing. The wall itself is only there to delay people. You want actual defense? Players and siege. Hopefully more players than siege, but that depends on the servers you meet.
Thematically walls are one of the most important parts of defense. Just because ANet has implemented them poorly doesn’t change that fact, and it doesn’t give your argument any credence either unless ANet comes in here and says themselves that they intend walls to do nothing but slow people down (not that it matters when there are 75 people attacking a tower). They just need a few updates to truly be effective at being a part of defense. But absolutely the team defending a structure should have some advantages over a team attacking it. And right now the walls are more of a disadvantage because you can’t even stand on them to use defensive siege without being killed within 3 seconds by AOEs
Nah, as much as I hate waiting it out on the ground, a suicide skill would be abused by people who don’t want to be stomped. As it is when I do go down I can take some dignity in not allowing them to stomp me. But if I had a suicide skill then it wouldn’t be fair to them because nothing they could do would allow them to stomp me then unless the skill was implemented in such a way as to not do what you want it to do
@Jerus thanks for that link, super helpful stuff. Didn’t realize I was missing quite so many things in fractals that really should have been obvious
Noticed this the other day but I just figured it was a hiccup. But I noticed it again today, and it persisted through a computer reset. If you are in LA and open the world map, you don’t see Ronan’s WP in The Grove to teleport to. Once you are in the Grove you see the WP on the map like normal and can teleport to it like normal.
I think a lot of us would enjoy a nice relaxing between seasons unranked romp with properly balanced classes. Thanks!
You shouldnt be asking for a balance patch then
The death of logic… It hurts.
I mean, they are balanced now (except for DH), a balance patch would proly unbalance them.
They are more balanced now than the first two seasons yes (which could be fixed if ANet didn’t refuse to wait till the end of a season to apply balancing patches). But that doesn’t mean they are all that balanced. A truly balanced game is one where any class has multiple viable builds they could take into competitive PvP all the way up to legendary. And quite frankly this season lacked that as well.
No offense, BV, but I think some of your experience stems from, well, lack of experience. And while my initial response was sarcastic, it bore some degree of truth – application of your suggestions would really neuter fractals to triviality,
For example the Harpy knock back is completely neutralized by reflects, stability, or projectile destruction. Dodging is irrelevant. Old tom’s gas attack is also easily neutralized from heals, damage reduction and/or condi clear/transfer, a body block for his projectiles and good old quick DPS.
I think many of your concerns, mainly those around respawns, and enviornmental dangers will be alleviated with more experience.
Feel free to hit me up in game to run some fractals if you wish.
———————Edit – As an aside, my viewpoint stems from seeing many newer fractals players, who started them after the change to 1-100, weren’t exposed to many of the strategies used (and to some degree needed) to complete the older/original fractals. For veterans, those many of those strategies completely trivialize the current fractals, and in many cases can be ignored/modified to the new format. However, without that original understanding many of the newer runners encounter issues that the veterans take for granted. Not their fault entirely, but also to a fault that those techniques are less taught/shared now.
Are those techniques not “taught” now because fractals were made easier? Either way can you go into detail as to what some of the techniques that you don’t see newer players using are?
I really really want a new Orr map actually. We still have 1/4 of Orr that we can’t go inside, no map there. And it looks like Zhaitan’s layer was inside of it if I recall the personal story correctly. I think it would be really cool to have this new map only be accessible after you have finished your personal story and Zhaitan is dead, and this new Orr map would be whats left of his risen and generals. For a meta event it could be similar to AB in that there is a new city that the Pact or someone is trying to colonize, and every so often the rest of the Risen, lead by one of the more powerful generals left alive, will take over and you have to cleanse the city to get it back.
Having rewards for AP and cap for them makes absolutely no sense. Issue with people wasting hours and hours daily was solved long ago.
it makes perfect sense, dailies are not achievements and should never have rewarded AP at all
Says someone who has maxed the AP he can get from dailies. If they really are so trivial and don’t deserve to reward AP then you shouldn’t care if ANet retroactively removes all AP everyone has gained from dailies right? So 15,000 less AP for you, you lose all the rewards you have gained from those chests and then everyone is happy because we don’t have to worry about daily AP again
Joke is on you here. Deleting daily/monthly AP is something I suggested before. Though I suggested doubling AP of all permanent achievements in return (would put the current max possible AP at ~36k)
Nope. Most of the historical achievements already gave out way more AP than they should have considering the effort put into them. They need to stay where they are. You wouldn’t get your old AP doubled, you would just lose 15,000 AP from losing your dailies. Which would drop you to what, 16,000-ish AP?
Does this really bother you that much? Move your character towards the bank wall half a foot and just hit F again and you will be talking to the banker, it doesn’t even require any clicking. Why are you acting like this is some huge deal that is ruining the game for you?
I would have accepted the “patience” argument nearly 3 months ago, but now im sure we can all agree we’ve been “very” patient.
People have been kittening and moaning about no LW3 since January. That’s not being very patient until now.
And besides we have had the current events which have been very likely leading into LW3 for the past two months. Which is more than nothing.
The events are cool, but a lot of players just want a date from ANet. We still don’t know when we will be getting it, and a lot of people are scared about that leaked report that said we would only be getting 1 S3 chapter every 2-3 months. If we have to wait this long just to get the first chapter then why are we gonna have to wait another 2-3 months just to get the next chapter in the story? I really hope that report was made up
Fractals are fine the way they are. The fractal level is all the scaling that they need, if you are having trouble, go down to a lower scale of that same fractal.
And honestly I don’t think there is any fractal that requires a 4 person party, and I know there aren’t any that require a full 5 person party, for you to succeed. Hell there are people who can solo fractal 100. But back to my point most fractals in the lower tiers can easily be done with 2 or 3 people who know what they are doing, or even 1 person who has completely mastered their class. If you have only once finished a fractal with a 4 person group then you guys all need more practice. Downscaling it is not the solution.
I can’t believe this thread is still going on
To satisfy both parties, they should increase the cap by say, 1000 per year. So you have to do dailies for 100 out of 365 days instead of everyday. This will not devalue permanent achievement since there will be a cap and people who relies on daily AP can still get progress even if it’ll be time gated (i.e. every year). I haven’t maxed out my dailies yet either.
If they keep increasing the cap then they need to increase the amount of AP that newer players can get from dailies, considering we didn’t benefit from having monthly achievements. At just 15,000 as a cap, it would take 1,500 days of doing dailies, over 4 years, to hit 15,000 if the cap was never increased.
Slow would definitely be more useful than cripple imo as it would slow down their CDs . But I actually think that the focus is fine right now, would rather have some of the other secondary weapons buffed so that we have more viable options.
If some of our condi cleanse was shifted to actual skills then inspiration wouldn’t be as required as it is now. But I doubt that will happen
I find this the best MMO I’ve played and I’ve tried most of them – even Black Desert and some off ones.. but one thing (the only thing) that GW2 seems to lack is using desired spell effects that are really enjoyable for one weapon.
My favorite is the staff but it seems really out of wizard character and not fun to have to roll backward to put a good dot on something.
Would love it if we could move one ability from one weapon to another – provided it was a balanced move.
Black Desert wizards have the coolest spells I’ve seen. .but i could not stay there, since Guild Wars 2 trumps it on every other front.Wish List: customized skills please!
:)
It was like that a few months before they released the game. That was how GW1 was designed. There is an old beta video of a staff elementalist with phoenix and meteor shower on his skill bar. It’s even the reason why the animations don’t match the weapons used (fireballs don’t come out of the staff, skills fx come out of the empty hand, etc).
They decided to lock the skills with weapons very late in the development.
Which is a good idea. Honestly if you could pick and choose then what is the point in having different weapons in the first place?
