There are no more raids planned for HoT. The plan was always to produce three raids wings.
There will probably be another raid in the next expansion but for now I think they’ll switch focus to fractals.
Source?
They’re working on the second raid right now.
Edit: Tried to find where they said it exactly but I can’t remember where I had read it or which dev had said it. This is the closest that I could find.
“I’m very proud of my designers working on Raids! Them and all the artists, programmers, QA, and other support staff working on Raids have been killing it, for sure. We just wrapped Raid 3 and have not shut down the team. I’m stupid excited about the stuff they are working on next. It gets me all goose-bumpy whenever we talk about it.”
OK, but that doesn’t say they’re working on another raid it could be a fractal or whatever. The team may have been moved onto other areas of the game. Or they may be working on a raid for the next expansion, who knows.
As for why I said what I did, it was this quote here:
“Players who purchase Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns will get access to our first raid, with the first of the three associated raid wings to be activated shortly after launch.”
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/raids-in-guild-wars-2/
I think that one raid was all they intended for HoT. They may add more between expansions but I think it’s likely the next raid will be in the next expansion. Who knows though.
There are no more raids planned for HoT. The plan was always to produce three raids wings.

Not to be a downer, but if you need to wait until you get paid at the end of the month . . . you might want to re-prioritize buying the expansion then. . . .
You’re right, I’ll be prioritizing it some where else instead.
By buying legion and a month’s subscription, apparently, and the total cost of that is? Greater than HoT at full price. Enjoy it.
I just filed a ticket asking for an extension laying out my logic for the millionth time regarding the large size of their customer base that get paid bi weekly. Most MMO players are not Whales, most of us live on fixed incomes.

ANet have said no capes, too many clipping issues with Charr, so blame them.
No person at Arenanet has ever stated that. Stop spreading misinformation.
This was said by ANet very close to GW2 launch, as it was something we all asked for during the Beta’s. How do I know this? I was there I saw it and read it.
The reason was because the capes would clip through the charr as they ran.
But if you have proof that I’m not telling the truth, please feel free to show me.
Trying to prove that is like trying to prove innocence with no evidence for or against. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.
So while your asking someone to blindly believe you, why don’t you prove that anet said no capes. Otherwise it’s just your word against his and that doesn’t go far on the internet.
I dunno why you guys want to argue the point. People who were around during BETA remember ANet being discouraging about capes; people who weren’t there aren’t likely to believe that without seeing it in print.
Further, whatever ANet said 4 years ago might not apply anymore — we just don’t know enough about how they design artwork today compared to yesterday.
So, personally, I think it’s a hopeless case. I’m sure cape fans will want to keep raising the issue every six months and we’ll just have the same no-conclusion discussion again. It might not impact GW2, but it probably would affect GW3 (if there ever is one).
I remember them saying that and bring kinda disappointed back then about it.
Plot twist, Garm was the Vinetooth that killed Eir.
Plot Plot twist: Eir was Faolain in disguise, Garm was Eir, and the Vinetooth was Hero-Tron and Braham’s hair was a wig! :O
That loud noise you just heard was my jaw clanging off the table, of course, it all makes sense now!
This is just the way MMOs are, the events loop constantly because they have to. There is no lore reason needed. This is certainly no worse than killing Taidha Covington for the millionth time.
I am on 210% and I personally have seen a very gradual increase in the number of rares and exotics that have dropped from random mobs in open world in line with my increasing MF over the last 2-3 years.
It is all anecdotal though and experiences will vary
I’m on 185% without boosts and I’ve seen a lot more Exotics recently (might be the sheer number of drops though). The HoT style caches are far better than the current bags, IMO.
ANet have said no capes, too many clipping issues with Charr, so blame them.
They could just get rid of the Charr altogether. A lot of my characters are Charr, and I would much rather have a cape than the Charr race
Frankly, I don’t see how ‘Clipping issues with Charr" is a problem for Capes because they don’t seem to care about Clipping Issues on Charr in any other aspect of design.
Very true. Also don’t blame Charr blame the people who created character models and animation rigging that can’t handle capes without terrible clipping.
You should also know (if you don’t know already) that part of the JP has been broken for quite a while now (tree branches were moved apart for some reason and it’s impossible to make the jump). It’s still doable, but you’ll have to jump down instead with the -falling damage trait equipped.
:O
Wow. I did that JP back at the dawn of time, that’s horrible! Is it a known bug?
It seems like the Goemm’s lab jumping puzzle is in stages. I managed to make it to the lighting stage, but I keep falling. Sometimes when I fall it results in a death rather than a return to the golem on the platform to port back to the lighting stage… so I have to start over at the waypoint.
I have been working non-stop on this jumping puzzle since I logged in 7AM yesterday (going on 20 hours straight). When I do die, it sometimes takes me as much as an hour and multiple failed attempts to make back up to the 1st golem to port to the storm level.
Right now I am just exhausted and I cant go no more, but I don’t want to lose where I am. Does the portal attunement reset on server reset? 12 hours into this I was still trying to get past the wind stage (section 1), so I am not sure if a reset took place on me or not. if there is no reset, then I’ll go to bed… but for now I am keeping at it until it resets.. praying I can make it to the end
From the wiki:
“The Tuned effect lasts 20 minutes and ends if you die or log out but not by falling down.”
With Season 3 our goal is to deliver content sustainably, at quality, establishing a pattern we don’t have to take breaks from.
I’m very glad and relieved to read that. I don’t think anyone wants more 9 month gaps in content.
I hope that this LS3 episode is sufficiently “meaty” but 1,500 lines of spoken dialog makes me think it might be.
Edit: 26th of July eh? Enough time to bring another character through LS2 and the HoT story, I think.

Also, If I have to hear about Violets ONE MORE TIME….
Will you increase the amount of violence?
Requiring people to win games to cross division thresholds to advance when your matchmaking system was designed to create unbalanced matchups is incredibly frustrating for some people while a great experience for others.
Bronze is the best I’ve done on Scramble as well. I see people in videos using the skills while gliding but every time I try that I get flung somewhere random and fall out of the puzzle.
If there’s a video out there that adds explanatory text and pointing arrows at each tricky move, as I saw one do for A Fungus Among Us, that would help me tremendously. I just don’t know when to use the skills to really race through the Scramble.
Ummm…. the video I posted does that (I didn’t make it BTW).
Good ideas! In addition, I suggest converting the projectile animation into Tony the Tiger.
That’d be grrrrreat!
It’s because this game simply doesn’t have the interface to give me the control I need to do it. Taking my finger off the WASD in order to activate and deactivate abilities is all it takes in terms of delay and loss of control to cause me to fall out of this puzzle.
If you need to take your fingers off WASD to activate your number 1, 2, and 3, skills, something must be seriously wrong with your keybinds. Also, it sounds like you’re keyboard turning; you should turn your camera with your mouse, which will give you a lot more control over your movement.
My keybinds are fine. I use action camera, but I still need the WASD; the mouse can’t do everything.
The only WASD button you need while doing this adventure is W. You can activate the 1,2 and 3 keys with your ring or index fingers while still keeping your middle finger on W if you turn the camera with the mouse.
I use a Logitech G600 (an MMO mouse with 12 side buttons mapped from 1 to = by default) but most gaming mice have at least 3 thumb buttons that you can map to 1, 2 and 3 if only for the duration of the adventure.

I love TD found my way around it quite quickly but yeah, the maps could do with some work.
I just wish the airship was an instance so you could return to your point of origin and it could directly drop people off at Fort Trinity and Camp Resolve since they both have airship ports. I’d like to see them add visible airship docks to all cities where it would drop people off at. In Camp Resolve they could set it so you could ride up the elevator to the airship platform. I think all of it would add value both to the game and of the pass on the gem store.
If they did that I’d buy one in the morning.
In PvP you can now get old PvP gear from Legacy Reward Track which provides as reward Legacy Armor Box
Only old PvP players could receive that gear before, because some items there were unobtainable, making old PvP players feel more important. Now… everybody can get them.
Really, you felt “important” and “valued” because you had something that new people couldn’t get? I don’t understand the belief that something only has worth if it’s denied to others.
No.
If you missed the event you do not deserve the reward.
oh really?
I would actually be ok with fused and sclerite weapons coming back.
but you missed your shot, clearly you don’t deserve a chance to get them.
i WAS all for prestige, PVE and PVP had relics of the past, long unnobtainable rewards,
but now that the PVP rewards have been rereleased it is only fair that the PVE ones are rereleased too.I am ok with those (sclerite, fused etc) coming back because because they added achievements for them after removing them from aquisation. Its not compareable to the items.
I love people picking quotes out of contest. Your rhetoric tricks do not work on me.And of course I defend my interests, why should I care about the interests of people who are in no way affliated with me? “Let the devil take the hindmost!”
I am anti communist/socialist, so dont expect any empathy from me when it goes against my own interests.
They are completely comparable. Of course they are.
The fact that you’re honest about your selfishness is refreshing though. Too many people pretend that their own self interests are for the common good.
Deserve the reward was funny though; like being there at a particular time was a great challenge.
Yep, the caves immediately adjacent to the Vale Waypoint in western Queensdale are glowing – both inside and out and with such ferocity that they can be seen clean across the valley in Claypool.
It’s that troll runestone, isn’kitten All this ley-line activity is going to make it go supernova.
It’s a feature?
I’d like to report that neither the Aviator Sunglasses nor the Inventor’s Sunglasses have any effect here, in fact it makes me wonder if they provide any UV protection at all.
There are 7 days left in the season, you cannot get it now, you would have to cross 1 division this season, 9 divisions next season and because the achievements are split into 4 sets that are time gated you’d have to be careful to cross them at the right time. Assuming the legendary divisions count as crossing.
Heh, Adryn the VP in charge of Production doesn’t have the same ring to it.
Bo Staffs? I think I went to school with him.
Staves seems a bit Old English to me. Maybe even Olde English.
The feeling of being lost, not knowing where you’re going, is the point of the maps; it’s literally a jungle out there.
Just run around the old fashioned way and learn your way, it’s not that complicated, especially after getting a few masteries to navigate.
Yep, I’d say that the best Mastery unlock order for getting around is:
Gliding:
Glider Basics - 1 Mastery point
Updraft Use – 2 Mastery points
Itzel:
Bouncing Mushrooms – 1 Mastery point
Nuhoch:
Nuhoch Hunting - 1 Mastery point
Nuhoch Wallows – 2 Mastery points
Exalted:
Exalted Markings – 1 Mastery point
Once you have those you can go just about anywhere. After that I’d go with gliding to the end.
The best way of getting enough mastery points and XP for those is playing the story and getting mastery points out in the maps. Whenever you max out your XP but don’t have enough mastery points make sure you start training another mastery so you don’t waste XP. XP boosts are great for this BTW.
After that I’d say just run around and familiarise yourself with the maps, I familiarised myself with Verdant Brink and Auric Basin quite easily, Dragon Stand is basically a flat plane. Tangled Depths is a bit tricky but I love it now I know my way around. Nuhoch Wallows and Bouncing Mushrooms are basically required there.
Isn’kitten‘enter’? It used to be ‘enter’.
Again, the server can’t tell if you accidentally disconnected or logged out.
Ah, but it can. Itentional logout means the game client tells the server that i logged out. (logout button etc.) a disconnect means my connection idles and disappears due to timeout.
This issue can be fixed, on a disconnect simply save the ‘slot’ for 5min then clear it.How then would you tell the difference between a disconnect due to internet issues and a disconnect due to purposely alt+f4 or simply pulling the networking cable to break connection? No matter how you set up the system, people would game it by faking disconnects if it would give them an edge, even if the “edge” is just collecting the rewards with doing only half the “work”.
AFAIK Alt+F4 sends a termination request to the application, not a kill signal. So GW2 could still send a logout message.
The question is what whould the ‘edge’ of a disconnect really be? If they just wanted a reward without doing the work: Just idle around in a group after hitting Tequatl once.
I just do not see any reason why someone should ‘fake’ a disconnect.
This guy knows what he’s talking about guys. An ALT F4 just sends a request that the application shut down, it can be ignored by an application, Windows task manager also sends polite “please shut down” events that are detectable, a process kill command is a lot harsher and may be undetectable.
Regardless, I think it’s far better to facilitate those who crash or disconnect for a genuine reason than to worry about how someone might abuse the system. Keeping a place on a server for 5 minutes when you don’t disconnect normally through logging out/exiting the application doesn’t seem that abusable to me (when simply AFKing for 5 minutes is a lot easier and achieves the same result).
Reading through this post and am depressed at the people who spend hundreds of dollars on tools for multiple characters and think it’s an alright deal…
Depressed that people like to support their MMOs? Ultimately that’s why I buy gems, the tools are a useful sink for those gems. I’ve still spent less on GW2 in the past 4 years than I have on MMO subscriptions in the past.
Regardless, that’s the deal that was offered. Anyone who bought these tools should have known that.
BTW these keys are what I’m using my shared slots for at the moment.
If they do add this kind of key chain then I hope they add all the Black Lion consumables to it too (like Black Lion Merchants, Back Access Expresses and so on). Whenever I get one of those I put it in my bank and forget about it.
Forum bug. Needs more characters.
Considering how much revenue they would lose because there wouldn’t be an incentive to buy more than 1 set of gathering tools, I’m calling it now: the Tool Duplicator, gem store item, 500 gems, one time use only. :P
I think Anet would make much more money from players buying one set that could be given to all their characters at once than the much smaller number of foolish whales who buy every tool they release.
Particularly people with a lot of alts who can’t be bothered to juggle one set of tools between them.
I think it’s very easy for ArenaNet to decide if this kind of change makes sense for them. First they have to add up all the sets of tools bought by the “foolish whales” and see if that number is greater than the amount of accounts in the game whose owners have bought gems but have never bought a single set of tools.
Then you factor in the amount of refunds they’d have to give those “foolish whales” for the duplicates they bought and see if it makes financial sense to gamble on people who have never bought an infinite tool so far but may buy one if it was an account unlock.
Then you ask if it’s likely that people will actually buy new tool sets as unlocks when they already have a set that works on all their characters. I have 12 characters and five sets, I don’t think I’d ever bother with any infinite tool set in the store again if my current tools became unlocks, but I currently have 1200 gems on my account that I might “foolishly” spend on another watchwork pick.
Yes, that is a complete pain, which is why I stopped doing it that way.
Now, I just double-click the tools in the shared slots — while you still have to do this twice per toon (immediately after starting and just before swapping), it takes very little effort. Now that I’m used to doing it, it’s actually less effort than using salvage kits.
(This requires having a tool in the relevant slot — the post-load double-click loads the infinite tool; the pre-swap double-click transfers it back to the shared slot.)
Since every HoT owner has at least one slot, you can give this a try even if you don’t own enough slots.
Hey, I can’t make it work the way you described.
Double-click on the tool in the shared slot equips it, that works, but for un-equipping, I still have to open Hero window, go to Equipment and un-equip it.
How do you put it into a shared slot by double-clicking?Thx
I think what people do is make sure they have a set of normal vendor tools equipped in their character’s harvesting slots. Then you put your permanent tools in the shared slots, double-clicking on the permanent tool will equip it and put the vendor tool in the shared slot. Then when you’re about to stop playing you can double-click the vendor tool (edit: in the shared slot) and it puts the permanent tool back in the shared slot.

Please get rid of the forced 50% winrate. My friend list is already full of triple digit AP people who I know I won’t be facing on the other team unless I lost enough. I had a big winning streak last week and now it’s tanking. Everyone is either too new or too good. I put someone on my list just for being a base game thief (you can tell from the dodges). I blocked out the names and even the AP (not all of them low) but wanted to show why I have the list if you read the nicknames. The ones without a nickname I blocked out since this isn’t a shaming post but a what I have to deal with post.
Wait. What? You want them to stop having balanced matches in Unranked? What do you want them to have then? Unbalanced matches? Odd request.
Bag slots are not universally accessible.
They should be, but that’s another topic entirely.
Armour is not universally accessible.
Weapons are not universally accessible.Armor and weapon skins are, though. Not only do you have the achievement/HoM skins that were infinite even before the wardrobe, the wardrobe also made every weapon and armor skin you’ve unlocked infinite use (especially important for gem store sets, where you only got one copy period without buying another pre-wardrobe).
(They’ve also made a bunch of currencies, ranging from dungeon tokens to fractal relics to transmutation charges to zone currencies part of a universally-accessible wallet instead of inventory items you had to manage).
As I said cosmetic unlocks are universally accessible not items, I don’t get the point you’re trying to make. The skins are also not “universally accessible” in that they require transmutation charges to apply them to items that are not universally accessible (apart from HoM and achievement skins, that is, those don’t require charges but do require items to apply them to).
See the issue?
While it would be super awesome to have an account-wide unlimited tool, it isn’t practical due to the lost revenue it would cause.
Hello mtpelion.4562,
Dyes are universally accessible.
Outfits are universally accessible.
Finishing animations are universally accessible.
Lots of things are universally accessible. These things all cost less than the tools, yet they’re universally accessible without swapping between characters.
In fact, if you recall, dye went in the opposite direction from what you’re arguing. That moved from individual character to universal, and they credited free dye for duplicates across characters.
So there is a precedent for what I’m asking. ArenaNet does not decide on this solely based on the revenue argument you specify, and they’ve made this decision for items that cost much less than permanent tools.
I want to buy more animations. I don’t want to buy more tools, and the tools should have concurrent accessibility like other shared items / animations.
Yes, a lot of cosmetic unlocks are universally accessible but items are not universally accessible. Gathering tools are items, they slot into your character’s equipment and you buy them for gold (copper/silver really) or permanent versions for gems.
Bag slots are not universally accessible.
Bags are not universally accessible.
Tools are not universally accessible.
Armour is not universally accessible.
Weapons are not universally accessible.
Runes/Sigils are not universally accessible.
Consumables are not universally accessible.
And so on, you can definitely say that you want these things to be account unlocks and that’s fine (I’d like to use my watchwork picks on all my characters too and get back refunds for the duplicate tools I’ve bought) but the fact is they are not unlocks. They’re equipment.
My word, the OP sure seems bitter about this change, I don’t think it was requested by any PVE players maybe you should direct your spite elsewhere.
I started GW1 late (about a year before GW2 came out) and got 20 points fairly easily and it was a lot of fun. Try GW1, it’s a great game.
That reminds me, I have to go open my GW1 character’s birthday presents and add the pets to the HoM again.
The same at the end of the Spelunker’s Delve JP in Caledon Forest. I thought it might have been some weird “dawn” effect at first.
Or the players could accept that we can’t
eatcraft our cake andhave itremain in Orr, too.
I wouldn’t eat any cake you left unattended in Orr, even if you only left it for a few seconds. That place is not hygienic.
Yeah, I will miss them as well. Was the main reason I went to WvW.
Me too, the ability to pop up to WvW to do some crafting at the end of a night and log back in wherever I was before was great, I rarely saw anyone else there while I did it so I don’t think it was having that much of a negative impact on WvW. It made the Captains Airship Pass and Royal Terrace Pass kinda pointless, though.
They needed to go…. there are alot of places in tyria with those.
Needed to? Hardly.
Have any of these MM threads received an official investigation or at least an official response?
Sure, in a week or two the complaints will stop, but it seems like a lot of people will be left feeling cheated and ignored…
Some kind of response would be nice, but no matter what that response was some people will feel cheated and ignored. At this late stage no changes can be made for this season. It’s just not likely.
I’d like to see some kind of response at the end of this season about what (if anything) will they do for the next season and also next years league. I’m not holding my breath though, ArenaNet rarely share information on any plans.
If there is another league next year, that is.
I am just so sick of the complains seriously.
I’ve solved your problem for you: stop reading them. No need to thank me!
The pip system they have coupled with the unfair matchmaking is the most frustrating thing I’ve encountered in this game.
I’ve given up on the league completely. It’s just frustrating and absolutely no fun. I’ll go back to unranked (when I can face PvP again).
You would have many people that would buy 3 inventory slots and 3 gathering tools.
I have 11 shared slots (bought 5 last night) and 15 or 16 unique infinite gathering tools. I’d be happy to trade in 12 of those tools for gems. I have two watchwork mining picks already, I can’t see any purpose in really buying any another pick unless they create other tools with rare chances to get additional materials.
I know that if this feature existed I would pick up more inventory slots amd harvesting tools: the lack of this feature is the only reason I haven’t already.
Do you have any of either at the moment?
I find it amazing how many keyboard warriors who spend the entire match typing essays on how the rest of their team sucks end up with the lowest or second lowest personal score on their side. I know that personal score isn’t a great indicator of how much you’re actually contributing in GW2’s PvP but I can’t see that typing volumes about how bad your own team is does much for your chances.
I had a match on Niflhel where someone spent the entire second half of the match constantly complaining (and I mean constantly, as in line, after line, after line with no breaks) about how terrible we were and moaning about being matched with such terrible players and then… we won. He was so focused on moaning that he didn’t even see that the remaining 4 players had managed to turn it around. It didn’t feel like a victory though.
The trouble is that the system isn’t placing people in “there skill level.” It’s a dynamically unstable system that encourages streaks.
The fact that divisions can’t be lost is the only reason we see a population in the middle divisions. Otherwise it would eventually be amber and legendary only.
It’s not right to demand division crossings, then do your best to prevent them. This is more or less what the matchmaker is doing.
This is the problem in a nutshell. The system is fundamentally flawed and IMO very frustrating. I can’t imagine that it’s doing much to encourage people to play GW2 PvP.
Remove the requirement for division jumps, give tickets for winning matches or playing three matches in a day (better), and turn the entire pip system into a “prestige” system; win a match get a pip, lose a match lose one for all divisions and allow people to drop divisions.
This epic battle last night? Back and fourth all game. One of the best PVP games I have ever played in. Thanks if you were a part of it.
But look at all of the rest of his game, ahahahaha. I guess in GW2’s pvp you have to hit the lottery to get a fair and competitive game. Lol that screenshot is awesome!
Looks a lot like most people’s match records, I’d guess. It could be mine. The league system is fundamentally broken.
Can’t wait until we have an entire 3 maps that all take place deep underwater, wonder how the underwater dragon fight is gonna work out.
From my experience with the Dragon Stand meta I think people angrily typing about how terrible this group is and how much faster all their previous attempts were will feature heavily!
I’d prefer Kralkatorrik please, I want to go back to Elona.
