I see posts from a year ago. Pin the achievement to your watch list and get a win as a villager.

That is EXACTLY what I did last night. I played 8 games. Several of them I won as a villager. My count is at 4/8. My achievement is pinned to the UI.

Any more suggestions?

I have. That’s where I found the one that I thought I’d lost, the one from a labyrinth boss reward chest.

The one for completing the meta I couldn’t find anywhere, including material storage. I am convinced that I didn’t get it. (Please also note how the chat log seems to confirm that.)

Made myself a habit of purchasing gems for 10 gold each day. So that one day, when I want smth, I don’t think “that’s so expensive!”. Now I can’t do that.
Today I purchased gems for the thing I needed, got a leftover of 200, and really not planning to buy gems soon.

In, taking into consideration 1 day – ANet made a right decision: I purchased 400 gems, not 200 I needed. 200 Gems profit!

But in how many days from now that profit will turn to loss, adding every day?

Brilliant.

Here’s the thing though. And I think it’s the heart of the issue.

Arena.net DIDN’T get 200 gems profit from you. They got effectively NOTHING from you. And that’s THEIR problem here, see. Gold to gem conversions have been going up steadily without fail because more people have been converting to gems rather than buying them with IRL cash.

But they DID, because you can only buy gems with dollars in increments of 800.

And I was like, FINE, as long as I can micromanage the leftover gems, and getting value out of the excess gems I bought WITH ACTUAL MONEY that they DID profit from, by topping up to a round amount with in-game gold, or converting back into in-game gold.

Also, there seems to be another big issue with this activity: one round is too long. Loads of people don’t even bother on the survivor’s side, they go straight to ghosts to get slaughtered only to get the rewards faster. It kills the fun in it.

The reason for this is that the Lunatic Inquisition Regular achievement is bugged. You only get progress if you kill a villager. That means, if you want your match to count at all, the best thing you can do is become a ghost as early as possible.

Survivors don’t get achievement credit.

I don’t like the change at all, but I am much more offended by them trying to pass it off as a usability improvement.

But it IS a usability improvement. Sure it needs some polishing and more options but claiming that it does not make it easier to use would be rather silly.

I personally have used the gold-gem exchange option for the following use cases:

  • Being left with an uneven amount of dollar-bought gems, topping it up with in-game gold to whatever amount I needed to buy the next item. Example: I had 372 gems left, and bought 28 with in-game gold.

Please explain how buying 28 gems with in-game gold is easier now.

  • Being in need of a quick in-game gold infusion, I converted leftover gems back to gold. Converting 180 gems back now takes 6 separate transactions (10 + 10 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 1 gold).

Please explain how this is easier now.

I get that something is easier now – converting large amounts of n-game gold to cash. Or converting large amounts of gems back, because it doesn’t HAVE to be exactly 180, because you just have enough currency to round up. The majority of players is not sitting on those large amounts of currency though. Especially not new players. So… yeah.

These attempts to increase your revenues from the game are soo irritating……..first you (Anet) ended the key runs in the previous update……..and now this…….and all in the name of “simplifying”

Yes how dare a company (whose first and foremost purpose is to make money) dare try to make money?

I personally don’t have a problem with them making money and in fact, I’ve been chucking wads of cash at the gem store specifically for this.

But as the saying goes, “You can shoot two birds from the sky, but don’t call it rain.”

I don’t like the change at all, but I am much more offended by them trying to pass it off as a usability improvement.

Why is Noble Count Outfit Unisex

I thought everyone on reddit was demanded a fancy unisex tuxedo? Now people are flip-flopping AGAIN?

geez…

Different people want different things.

  • Some people want a dress for their female asura.
  • Other people want a tuxedo for their female human.

Is this really too difficult for you to to grasp?

Solution: have both a dress outfit AND a tuxedo outfit. Leave it to the player to decide which one to buy/wear. (Or add a “genderbending” toggle option to the outfit page and allow a player to switch on the spot.)

~Snip~

Side Problem: Removal of RNG weapon skins
I mentioned at the beginning that there is a fourth issue with this update not tied to Halloween. To quote the update notes:

“There are only four weeks left to use tickets for Lovestruck, Dragon’s Jade, Aetherblade, Fused, and Dreamthistle weapon sets. After November 18, these sets will no longer be available for purchase with Black Lion Claim Tickets this year .”

~Snip~.

Usually, most of what you post is very good and well thought out, however, on this one issue I have a bone to pick. You apparently just decided to completely ignore the last two words of that announcement, this year, which unless I am mistaken, means they will return in a different year, be that 2015, 2016 or what ever. You seem to be under the impression that they are gone forever, never to be return. When in fact this is a temporary removal and not permanent.

It really only says that ANet MIGHT bring them back, not that they WILL bring them back.

In that vein, I’m okay with removing the Lovestruck and Dragon Jade weapons, as we can reasonably assume that they will become available again next Valentine’s Day / Dragonbash. I’m not okay with removing the other skins.

Either way, I agree with Konig 100% that this is a poor solution, and that they should have gone with weapon boxes instead.

I was going to type out the rest of my own Halloween feedback, but Konig did it nicely, so I’m just gonna /sign this thread and be done with it.

Okay, 25 pages later, I think everybody has stated their opinion (pretty much in unison for the first time in GW2 history) so let’s move on to suggestions…

Summary

  1. Replace fixed amounts with fields that you enter the amount of gold/gems you desire to buy
Original suggestion by playerbase since release
  2. Keep fixed amounts, but add custom amounts field at the bottom
Best of both worlds. We have enough room in the UI; if necessary, we could get rid of the 2000 gem exchange. (Nobody needs the ability to exchange 400 gold to gems with a single click.)
  3. A sliding scale
A sliding scale was just implemented to make the TP “easier to use”, why would the gold-gem exchange be treated differently?
  4. Roll back
The old interface sucked, but it had functionality that the community is not happy to give up.

And the other issue

  1. Bring back the exchange rate history (maybe add a button that opens a pop-up) so players don’t have to go to outside sources to find the information.

Oh that’s interesting, last night I would swear I played about 6 or 7 rounds, but when I looked at the achiev it said I’d only played 4… I assumed I must have lost track or something, but maybe they didn’t all count.

I don’t think I can play any more until the combat skills bug is fixed, it’s unplayable when the courtiers run faster than the villagers and bring them down with ranged attacks (and bears lol)… in the end I managed to come 3rd twice by just hiding very very well

It’s the same bug as last year – apparently you have to die and get a kill as a ghost in order for it to count towards the achievement, i.e. if you win as a villager you get nada.

This has happened twice now – I got a candycorn cob as an achievement reward (i.e. the achievement reward chest popped up and I “accepted”), but the candycorn cob never made it into my inventory. It is just not there.

My candycorn log – these worked:

  • I got 2 candycorn cobs as a reward for “back in the box”
  • I got 1 candycorn cob when I traded in 1000 candycorn myself
  • I got 1 candycorn from a door event chest in the maze, lost it but then found it in material storage later.

This didn’t work:

  • Candycorn cob for completing the meta – never arrived. I was in PvP at the time, the stomp achievement concluded my meta.

CDI- Guilds- Guild Halls

The only request I have is: please give small guilds (2-5 people) something to strive for, too.

Your post did me realize something.. What are people talking about when they talk about small guilds?

I am talking about 15 active (So online at least once every 2 weeks) people.

In all honestly I personally would think 2 – 5 is so little that would be the same as making it available to every-body’s personal guild what I would think as undesirable.

But what are other people talking about when they talk about small guilds?

Well, let’s look at the game itself. Ask people to name one important guild in GW2, and most people will give the same answer. “Destiny’s Edge”.

With that as our in-game example of a small guild, 5-6 seems fair. The biconics fit that as well. But, do they have guild halls?

Well, for Destiny’s Edge, I’d look at Eir’s house. It’s a big house, with extra land around it, and statues of important people (including one guild member) decorating the area. Sounds like a small guild hall to me, and I’m sure they’ve held meetings there.

The biconics have The Dead End. They may not own it, but they’re using it. I’m sure there’s some rooms in the back and cellar that they can use if need be. Again, sounds like a small guild hall to me.

How do we make it work? Let’s assume that there’s not going to be an upkeep charge, first of all. (Seriously, let’s avoid that, it sucks.) If there’s a range of small guild halls starting small and growing up, then the first one can be pretty cheap, and the price can climb with each size upgrade. A larger guild will get a bigger hall faster, but even a small guild can save up some influence to get there eventually.

When we move into large guild halls, you can charge merits as well as influence. These can be the long term goals for bigger guilds, and smaller guilds will still be able to have a guild hall for themselves. It’ll just be smaller, which is really only logical.

Thank you! Yes, something like this would work perfectly for me and my guild mates.

Not all players are comfortable in mega-guilds; some people enjoy the comfort of a small nuclear guild with just their family members or best friends. It would be a shame if guild halls were introduced and there was nothing in there for them because the feature only unlocks with merits, or somesuch.

Weaponcrafting or Jewelcrafting?

in Crafting

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

You’ll probably end up leveling all crafts anyway, so don’t build up too much pressure deciding which one(s) you do first.

Most of the stuff you can craft up to level 400, you can also buy on the TP, so that takes off additional pressure.

Reasons to level crafting:

  • XP boost to the character (actually leveling the character up) – not so useful beyond level 80, more useful on alts.
  • Crafting of items that are account. These include ascended weapons, armor and back items.
  • Crafting of time-gated stuff; you can make a pretty penny crafting such things and selling them on the trading post to people who don’t want to wait. The most recent example was plant food and heat lamps, but the market has set now so it is no longer really worth it. There will be a next time though!
  • For convenience: use Artificer to craft blue luck into green luck, into yellow and orange luck – saves a lot of double clicks eating luck! If you salvage items a lot, it makes sense to have artificer active just for this.
  • In a similar vein, you may want to have one armor or weapon craft at level 450+ so you can refine bloodstone dust to bricks (same for dragonite ore and empyreal fragments) so these items don’t take up so much space in your bank with the stacks and stacks and stacks of them that players tend to accumulate.

Crafts on several characters vs. a dedicated character

  • I have leveled all crafts to 400, and I’m in the process of leveling the remaining weapons/armor ones to 500 (only got armorsmith and tailor left).
  • I also have them all on my main so I don’t get confused (Which recipe is unlocked on which character? Did I just delete the alt that was my chef? etc.)
  • I still use crafting sometimes to give an alt a boost during leveling the alt, but these are all redundant.
  • Some people like to spread out their crafts along their alts, this way they don’t have to pay to switch back and forth between crafts, but at the same time, they tend to lose the overview, can accidentally delete a leveled crafting discipline with a character, etc.
  • Recipes are only unlocked for the character who “reads” the recipe! This includes the recipes that now drop from collection achievements and that you can only get 1 of (ever) so make sure you choose the character to “learn” it carefully!

Additional crafting licence, yay or nay?

  • I DID buy the additional crafting license, because during the last month I was crafting plant food (huntsman), piquante plant food (chef) and grow lamps (jeweler) on a daily basis, all three are time-gated and can be crafted only once a day. I’m sure ANet did this on purpose, and it worked -_- but I made a LOT of gold during the first few weeks so it was worth it. I don’t think you need it at this point in time!

Trickter’s Mantle looks fun with Aristocrat

Thank you for your suggestions! It took me a little while to log on Taika and try them all out.

I really like the Heritage top, but of course it’s unavailable to me

Your other suggestions do all work very well with the pants, the only problem being that Taika is supposed to be a wealthy traveling saleswoman and not an exotic (in the sense of the word) dancer. For example, the Winged Tunic would be absolutely perfect on another character, but shows wayyyy too much skin for this particular one. I did however find the Magician, Stately and Student ones, and I’m not sure which I will go with yet, I think probably Stately Garb for now.

I will continue to wait for new armor sets, maybe one day there will be the understated blouse that I’m waiting for and whose bottom seam works with the pants.

Thank you for your suggestions! They did help!

I like that world completion gently pushes players to try out new things.

If it was for me, there would be a POI on every PvP map, one in the Fractals room (general area, not the fractals themselves) and in the starter areas for the dungeons.

Some of the WvW ones were a pain to get. I did this together with my boyfriend and it took us a while. It helped that the map colors changed sometimes, so our borderlands were sometimes green, then blue, then red. EB was a total pain though. I would keep WvW in for map completion, but only waypoints and easy-to-reach (i.e. in the garrison) POIs. This way, yes, people would be forced to check out the WvW thingie for 5 minutes, but not take up WvW slots for hours and hours.

Not so! It entirely depends whether you refer to ancient Rome, or medieval (clerical) Latin.

The correct pronunciation would be “foh-kee” in the first case (although some people argue it could have been “foh-chee”, see also modern Italian), and “foh-tsee” in the latter. None of that “ai” stuff, that’s just English.

I beg you, describe for me in great detail what your character would smell like? It is best if you can take the time to accompany your answer with a screenshot of your character.

Lale is an adventurer for hire, so most times, due to both her every day life and the articles she carries with her, I would say her odour is a mix of the following: leather, dust, the smell of woods and mechanical oil, and “old book smell”.

1) If you (or your character) likes peanut butter do you prefer chunky or smooth?

Chunky. Smooth is a bit boring. Texture makes things more exciting. We like to go all the way. Same goes for mashed potatoes, soups and other food stuffs.

2) If you are a US citizen (or if your character would be one if animated in our mechanical world) please answer the following: If I offered you $300 cash, and went further to ask you what denomination you would like your money to be delivered, what would that be? All 50s, all 20s, two hundred dollar bills and 5 20s? Want it all in pennies or quarters?

3 50s
5 20s
3 10s
3 5s
5 1-dollar coins for the bus

3) I need to know you (or your character’s) favorite pizza toppings.

Spicy mango curry.

4) If you (or your character) are a dog lover, do you like German Shepherds, Pugs, or Boston Terriers?

Not a dog person, but the only dog I ever got to bond with is a border collie, so probably that. Or whichever is closest to that. German Shepherd? I like it when the wolf is still recognizable in a dog.

5) Do you or your character prefer mathematics or the humanities?

Mathematics, but both are equally important. I feel more passion for mathematics but spend a lot more time discussing humanities. Lale says: mathematics.

Thank you for this weird experience.

Back on topic, “focuses” and “foci” are both correct, but while in all-day life people are more likely to use the modern Englich pluralisation, fantasy games (and books, tv etc) like to use the Latin (sometimes Greek) pluralisation to give it a more archaic feel. For athmosphere/style. See also ‘of the magi’.

It only bothers me when it’s done wrong, i.e. a version that’s never eve been correct, not in Rome or Greece or England – such ad ‘stati’ for status, ‘viri’ (sometimes even ‘virii’…) for virus or ‘pegasi’ for pegasus.

speargun = harpoon gun
spear = harpoon
