I know there are, but I don’t see what that has to do with anything in my OP.

Eh, what I’m saying is this: Sylvari are plants that emulate humanoids. You say that they are “supposed” to grow their own clothes and I disagree. Emulating humanoids to the degree that that includes not only walking, dancing, eating, drinking, speaking, fighting but also clothing like them seems to be popular with the Sylvari.

That being said, I am all for putting an armor in the gem store that has certain plat parts (maybe a mix) and utilizes the Sylvari glow color (for Sylvari characters only, while every other race would just get a static color there). I’m sure it would sell like hotcakes.

http://dulfy.net/2014/09/08/gw2-items-collections-guide/

Right after the table of contents is the list of broken collections:

“Current bugged collections as of Sept 11, 2014

Brewmaster Collection (not able to activate)
Fine Wining Collection (not able to activate)
Hero of the People Collection (not able to activate)"

Honestly, I’m not gonna fault the devs for not checking Dulfy.

But with the sheer amounts of (unanswered) threads in the bugs section (as well as general discussion and players helping players) it is really hard for me to keep believing that the devs “read everything even if we don’t reply”. :’(

Didn't get armor piece

in Living World

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Grind AND pay 1 gold per piece of armor… so 2000 Bandit crests and 2 gold to get the luminescent skin

I got carapace glove #1 from the story, #2 from the PvP reward track and #3 from bandit crests (many of which I also got from the PvP reward track). Also, in a full SW map, those bandit crests accumulate like crazy – as long as you leave your fort once in a while to help a pact bull escort or kill a vet or take part in the collections events. And every single time the labyrinth opens after the five bosses, several players report glove box drops from the big nightmare chest (and sometimes in open world, too).

Honestly, this is not nearly as grindy as some people make it out to be. You CAN spend 2000 crests if you want them, like, RIGHT NOW, but you can also get them through other ways of playing the game.

Accumulating geodes in Dry Top for recipes (and getting all the fossils) is much, much harder and more frustrating.

Champion Farming Question

Pixelpumpkin.4608

In my personal opinion, I get more champ bags from Silverwastes than I ever got from actual champions.

If this is not about loot but about monthly champion slayer or some such: still go to The Silverwastes. Find a populated map through the LFG tool (look for “sw taxi” entries and similar). In fort defense events, with enough people present, there is always upscaled champions around, there is the 5 bosses, and after the bosses another handful of champions spawn around the map that you can tag/kill – all before heading into the labyrinth for a few minutes and getting even more champ bags.

But even better, in the game itself, go to your personal bank, click the wardrobe icon, and preview any set of shoes/boots on your own character.

I don’t mind the occasional game on Skyhammer or Spirit Watch. 9 out of 10 games will still be Foefire or Khylo anyway, which is boring enough.

This.

Besides, even if it is just one in ten players that occasionally enjoys a Skyhammer map, they have every right to play on the Skyhammer map 10% of the time, while 90% of the time having to play on the map of everybody else’s choice.

That’s how voting works: you might not like the outcome, but it is the definition of fair.

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Yes, we are

For the wine and the ale collections, it’s true, it could simply be that no player has found how to start them, although we do assume that they work the same way as the steak collection, which does not require a specific item or action to unlock it.

As the “eating collection” is working but both the “drinking collections” are not, we have been wondering whether these two were removed because of their “alcohol” theme.

Regarding Hero of the People, at release time, the ‘eligible’ champion bags had a ‘collectible’ tag and an option in their context menu to be added to a collection – nothing happened. This ‘collectible’ tag, along with the context menu, then vanished in another patch. We were wondering whether that collection was removed because it is very difficult to get some champion bags outside of your level range (i.e. for people that have all level 80 characters) but that is only speculation on our part.

So either the devs saw that it wasn’t working and removed the half-implemented collection to fix it, or removed it purposely and entirely – either way is fine, but for the love of Dwayna, let us know which one it is.

There have been numerous threads in the bug section of the forum about both of these issues: BrewmasterFine WiningHero of the People

So,

  • if any of these are unlockable but we still haven’t found how – can you guys maybe just let us know? It will kick off a major community-wide treasure hunt!
  • And if any of them were just removed – can you, also, just let us know? So we don’t continue to waste our time.
  • And if they’re just not working until a future patch – can you, also, maybe, pretty please, just let us know so we can stop creating the same threads asking the same questions over and over…?

This is all we ask.
Thank you <3

Silverwastes Reward Track

in PvP

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Oh. Well, yeah – I would be perfectly ok with a reward track called “Carapace Reward Track” that allowed you to access all the available skins – you could run it 18 times if you wanted. You would still have to PvE for all the other collection parts.

They could add more choices into the end chest over the course of the next week, no problem.

Silverwastes Reward Track

in PvP

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

I am as confused as you are, and wrote this in another thread:

  • “Maguuma Wastes” PvP track, whose drops are Dry Top specific, and which should probably be called “Dry Top” – OR incorporate Silverwastes rewards
  • “Silverwastes” PvP track, whose drops are Silverwastes specific, but the end chest is a glove box and NOT a shoulder box (according to the description anyway) so I think we won’t have the choice of other armor skins in later chapters either

The inconsistency of this really bothers me (my OCD, it hurts) – and the only logical explanation I can think of is that they just implement whatever seems to make sense at the time, without planning ahead even a couple of weeks. (The new “sorting” of the achievements is another example of this.) I’m not saying that’s what it is, but judging by the inconsistent outcome it certainly looks that way.

Both Dry Top and Siverwstes are part of the Maguuma Wastes…

It also bothers me that the Skritt Burglar turns characters into llamas in Dry Top, but into chicken in The Silverwastes (like the Silverwastes are part of Kryta!)

Anyway, I share your confusion and would love some insights.

whip and chain as weapon

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

They’re kind of the same weapon though, aren’t they? I mean, it can be a Whip-class weapon, and the chain be one of the skins.

Only if you don’t understand how a whip works

Whip: you don’t just hit something with a piece of string. You give the whip a spin with your wrist (it’s not that easy, either) which accelerates along the length of the whip. The tiny cracker at the end breaks the sound barrier and that’s what produces the crack.

I think it’s safe to say that that isn’t physically possible for a human to do with a chain.

That being said, I am a huge fan of whips (since Indiana Jones) and would welcome them in GW2 with open arms (see also my signature for the last two years) and I wouldn’t mind chains and vines and other things being the same weapon class as the whip, whether it makes realistic sense or not (see also: mesmer greatsword).

So I’m all the way “YESY YES YES” for whips and/or chains.

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Somebody did some math on reddit and long story short, the “value” of a key is around 15g right now, and if laurels were an alternate (but not cheaper) way of getting keys, a key realistically would (should) be around 15 laurels.

I think that’s fair.

I also think it won’t break ANet’s back financially as laurels are so heavily time-gated.

Carpace Gloves

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

I’ve heard it mentioned that the Gloves can also drop from the Greater Nightmare Chest in the Maze. If so, it does lend weight to that theory of keeping players in SW longer.

Doesn’t make me any less grumpy about it though. :P

You also get them from the brand-new Silverwastes PvP achievement track.

I see these possibilities:

  • ANet tried the repeatable thing with the shoulders, decided it was too easy/fast/whatever, and changed the system deliberately for the gloves.
  • ANet meant to release the shoulders as achievement reward too and messed up the first time.
  • ANet meant to release the gloves as story reward too and messed up the second time.
  • ANet never meant for both cases to be handled the same, for example in preparation for the next 2 chapters, both of which will drop 2 armor pieces each – maybe in each case, one of them will drop as story reward and the other as achievement reward?

It certainly seems though as if the rewards are implemented kind of randomly, as if nobody really put much thought into the ins and outs. I’m saying that because we have 2 PvP reward tracks now:

This is, imo, very close to the ideal wallet. I would pay for this. In cupcakes.

Pros: clears up inventory, logically ordered, can be expanded on with minimal fuss in future

Cons: see what you have at a glance functionality is gone, some scrolling required

For me the pros outweigh the cons easily.

I personally don’t work with my dungeon tokens or fractal relics enough to need to see them at a glance.

Right now though, I want to see my gold, gems, geodes and bandit crests at a glance.

But for those that do, a suggestion has come up: a “list of favorites” as the default page (that works the same way as the achievements watchlist). This would solve the problem for anybody and be flexible enough to support all sorts of permanent and temporary preferences.

:)

That Jungle Explorer Outfit

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Furthermore, Outfits have a few Pro’s as well:

  • No need for transmuting armor using Transmutation charges, making them great while leveling a character for the sake of not looking like you’re wearing a mix of cobbled-together matresses and Thanksgiving leftovers.

Point for outfits.

  • All outfits so far has come with 4 dye fields, which is often more than enough to make your costume look somewhat unique (And to get the combination you want).

So far, it has actually never (not once :’() been the combination I wanted. Example: I want the jungle adventure outfit with blue jeans, but not with denim shoulders.

  • You can always hide head, shoulders and gloves still, by unchecking the particular box on the armor before equipping the Outfit.

That only works for the head. Shoulders and gloves are not separate and cannot be hidden.

  • The outfit, once bought, unlocks for all characters on your account, permanently. This includes new characters created after buying the outfit.

The same is true for any armor skins, so I wouldn’t count this as a advantage of outfits over armor skins.

Outfit pros: one out of four. Sorry, not enough to convince me.

I’m not sure how, but you’ve missed a lot of children in this game. All races, except the sylvari, have children and they all feature in hearts and events already. For example:

Indeed, and the children playing out the Destiny’s Edge conflict in LA, and charr cubs in general, get me right in the feels. I love watching them, sometimes interacting with them. Other examples, trick-or-treating kids, and the cub in the Labyrinthine Cliffs that gets to take the stage at the magic show. Ahahaha.

(I like all of these better than Gwen – her purpose, at the beginning, was to guide new players through the tutorial, and frankly, I found her quite annoying early in the game. She reminded me too much of the microsoft paperclip. I’m glad that Gwen got her character development later, but as a kid, uhm, sorry, no love from me.)

[Suggestion] Currencies & The Wallet

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

My thoughts on this:

Right now we’re sort of splitting out things you can “spend” between three different places: Your inventory, your bank, and your wallet.

This doesn’t really work because some items serve several purposes:
There are items in GW2 that serve as both “tokens” (in other word, currency) AND crafting/forging material. The solution is to treat them as currency – but let people “withdraw” any amount (for instance, by purchasing a craftable or forgeable item from a vendor).

Examples:

  • Fractal relics and pristine fractal relics, or
  • dungeon tokens and “gift of <x>”.

This way you can still design freely any crafting or MF recipe (“ingredient 4? 5 gold!”) without classing a currency as non-currency.

Ultimately, we either need to let you spend materials from your bank directly at vendors so you don’t need to keep them in your inventory (and then make geodes/crests materials)

This is short-sighted. There is a big difference between a crafting material that you need between 2 (i.e. luck) and 100 (i.e. bloodstone dust) of to craft something, or that you need 1000 (=4 stacks) of to buy even a single item from a vendor (bandit crests). Even if I could deposit a single stack of bandit crests, that really wouldn’t help my inventory all that much. The primary purpose of bandit crests is to serve as tokens to buy stuff with, the price of up to 1000 per item reflects that – and they should be treated as such.

OR continue to make the wallet larger and larger.

… incidentally, that was the very first thing that came to mind when I first see the wallet: “WHY would they design it in a grid layout that makes it impossible to add things later – knowing full well that with almost every release we get one or more new currencies???” and was the first criticism stated. Dear ANet, you knew this beforehand, please don’t use the design of the wallet as an excuse now.

Or option #3 we haven’t considered yet you might think of in this suggestion forum!

A wallet in list form instead of grid layout would perfectly solve this. Add collapsible sections (like in the achievement section or like on the TP) and a search field on top.

For items that are used as both a currency and a crafting or forging ingredient, add a vendor where people can transform one into the other (as is the case already with dungeon tokens).

This would fix all my problems.

Leveling was fun. Frustrated by Endgame.
