Yeah, it’s the names, and in some cases the sort order (for instance in the competitive category: WvW, WvW, PvP, WvW)

But honestly, there is a lot that needs to be done for the achievement categories to make any sense The achievement for unlocking all ascended armor skins is under Collections → Rare Collections, but the achievement for unlocking all cultural armor skins is under General → Fashion… etc. etc. etc.

Do you know these little cartoons?

Mum: “Your room is a mess! Go clean it up.”

Later…. Mum: “Wow, it looks so tidy in here! How did you…” <opens closet door> <gets buried under ravine of toys>

That’s how I feel every time I open the achievements panel.

Charged Quartz Crystal

Beyond that, it’s not like Celestial is super desirable anyway, so I don’t understand why it’s all account bound.

Before Magic Find became account-bound, the celestial stats included an MF bonus, so they were very very desirable at the time. Maybe that is one reason why it was implemented this way.

Secondly, it gave us all a reason to mine 25+ quartz a day in the Labyrinthine Cliffs during the first release, that was before we had home instance quartz nodes.

Beyond the first Zephyrite release, it is still giving us something to do: Sure, many times it would be more convenient to have something available instantly instead of having to do stuff for it. A button saying “complete all dailies instantly” would be clicked by almost everybody. But I personally enjoy it more when I have to work at least a little for what the game gives me. For instance, running around Tyria and picking up spoons from karma vendors is many times more fun to me than buying all ogre weapons from the trading post.

All time-gating results in a number of players to log back on to GW2 daily, which is, of course, desired by ANet from a business point of view.

So much for the “why would they do that”.

Now why is it such a big deal? I crafted a celestial armor set back when it was released, and I didn’t suffer that much from not having it available on the first day. If you just mine your home instance nodes and charge a crystal daily, you’ll get there sooner rather than later. And you’ll feel satisfaction and happiness every time you craft one of your items, which is better than just feeling it once when you buy a complete set on the trading post.

Getting better ^^

Personally, I wouldn’t need to see non-spent skill points on there – but all the rest of the information is nice.

I have one more request (or inspiration, or whatever):

Can you put the personality back on? The bit that was somehow undocumentedly lost in the last hero panel overhaul? (Rogue, Diplomat, etc. based on the dialog options a character typically chooses when talking to NPCs)

I miss that information, and together with guild, order and title it would be nice to have that back, to give the characters a little bit of *visible) personality again.

Why default sell to highest buyer?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Honestly, this is just insulting. I sell to buy orders all the time and I know full well that I’m losing money in the long run. It is a matter of convenience for me. I can match the lowest seller or undercut him to try to get a bit more money, but there are two problems with it: 1) What if I want my money now, to use it? Now I have to wait for someone to buy. 2) What if some TP flipping guy or just another seller undercuts me? Guess what, now I have to wait for his stuff to sell before mine gets sold. Or I have to go watch the dang TP and relist my stuff to make sure it gets sold.

Undercutting is a headache for those of us who just want to sell our crap quickly and having it default to match lowest seller is not going to change my habits. It’s just going to give me more clicks. Furthermore, the more people you have matching lowest seller and/or undercutting each other, the more of a headache it will be for everyone trying to sell their crap at all.

If you are someone who tries to profit off of the TP, you should want people to sell to buy orders! They are playing right into your hands.

Edit: I mean, heck, you could make your same argument that people should be encouraged to place buy orders rather than directly buy what’s being sold (after all, it is more profitable), but if you put both that and match lowest seller together, you get a crowd of people who never actually exchange goods.

This is where I’m at, too – I understand full well how the TP works, but I’m here because I want to spend as much of my time as possible playing the game, not playing the economy.

Why default sell to highest buyer?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

I think that default sell to highest buyer should actually be default to lowest seller. People will complain yes. But they don’t understand that doing that will actually net them the least coin. The game should not encourage play that is the least beneficial to the player.

Now default buy to highest buyer. That is a problem. Some orders will get fulfilled instantly others may take a while. This can lead to confusion with some players on why they did not get their item.

Y’all do realize that buy orders and sell orders can only exist because other players sell instantly/buy instantly? If all players placed orders, nobody would ever buy/sell ANYTHING.

Some players want to maximize on net profit, others want to maximize on time. Both are valid.

Hence ANet should not make the decision for or against either of those – like I said – just remember the mode I used in my last transaction and I’ll happily always sell instantly/buy instantly/sell order/buy order most of the time.

Account Wide Crafting?

in Crafting

People use crafting to power-level alts. If crafting was account-wide, new characters would not be able to gain any xp for it. So a lot of people will tell you that this is a terrible idea.

That being said, I personally (as somebody who just can’t get into alts, no matter how hard I try) don’t care either way. I have all my crafts on my main, so if I need anything, I know where to look. I guess for me it already is (almost) account-wide!

Most likely in the case of the Deluxe Gear Boxes, only the ones from Inquest specifically will count. So ones from Aetherblades, Golems etc. will not unlock it.

The same might go for the Saddlebags. Only ones specifically from centaur Champions (and not Rock Dogs, for example) will count.

That’s easy to check.

I am looking specifically at embroidered saddle bags and deluxe gear boxes that say “collectible” in their mouse-over thingie (underneath the item name), as opposed to those that don"t have the “collectible” text there. Still don’t count, but certainly are the right containers.

[PROs and CONs] New Trading Post

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Now here’s my reaction when using the new TP yesterday:

  • To get to “sell” after opening the TP takes 1 more click than before, but I can live with that.
  • In the “Sell” view, I have to navigate to each inventory bag separately for some reason. I can’t collapse them into one. All my invisible bags show up, too, even though I can’t access their content.
  • When selling an item, I have to use a slider instead of “sell maximum”. (I also have to remember to set it to insta-sell first, or else do the slider twice.)
  • Each item is sold in a pop-up that I have to close after the transaction with yet another click, whereas before, I could just select the new item.
  • The “Sell popup” always defaults to listing an item instead of remembering my last choice, so if I want to sell instantly (which I do 99.9% of the time), I have to select that every single time too.
  • For buying in bulk (i.e. crafting materials), I now have to manually adjust the max price (which I never had to do before) before I can even input the number of items I wish to buy. This is also an annoying hold-up – why is that suddenly necessary?

This might not sound so much, but try selling all your post-fractal-run loot – those clicks add up!

To give you some context:

I am not a TP power-user. I don’t flip. I rarely paid attention to “net profit”. But I did use “add to my listing”.

I am a very active GW2 gamer though, and that means I sell lots of items and I want to sell them fast. I did use insta-sell A LOT. If you had added a “sell all green/blue/white items to highest bidder” single-click button, I’d be over the moon.

Selling a full inventory of items (as is the case after a dungeon or fractal run, or a normal evening on the boss train) takes forever now and frankly, it is driving me insane.

Pixelpumpkin.4608

First of all, THANK YOU ANET, for letting us know that this thread is having dev attention. I think it needs it

A while ago I listed TP things that I thought needed improving. Here’s the list:

Usability improvements / UI changes:

  1. [remains unsolved] Remember whether I last sorted alphabetically or by price.
  2. [ok] Add an option to filter by armor weight.
  3. [ok] Fix the sorting in the categories.
  4. [ok] Add a category for back items.
  5. [remains unsolved] Add an option to show only unlocked/locked skins.
  6. [remains unsolved] Add an option to show only unlocked/locked recipes.
  7. [remains unsolved] Add an option to show only unlocked/locked dyes.
  8. [remains unsolved] Add an option to show only unlocked/locked minis.

Gem store:

Style section

  1. [remains unsolved] In the style section, allow us to filter the armor by armor weight.
  2. [remains unsolved] Allow us to preview individual armor skins together with the rest of our outfit. (Right now, armor skins that are technically usable by all armor weights think that they are “heavy armor” so when I preview them with a character of medium or light armor class, they will always be naked in the preview. If I preview on a heavy armor class, they will always wear their armor.)
  3. [remains unsolved] Better yet, allow us to choose whether to preview the armor piece on our naked OR dressed character.
  4. [remains unsolved] For complete armor sets, allow us to preview specific pieces. Many of us buy armor sets to mix and match with our existing pieces and would appreciate if we could preview them and check for clipping, etc.
  5. [remains unsolved] Add dye channels to the preview, like the “normal” preview window has.
  6. [remains unsolved] Equally, the preview of weapon skins should have the same options as the normal preview, i.e. look at the weapon stowed, drawn, and on its own.
  7. [remains unsolved] It would be super awesome if we could zoom in to see detail.

Other

  1. [ok] Add a preview for minis.
  2. [remains unsolved] Allow us to buy gems with as many USD/EUR as we want, not just increments of 10. Lower the minimum gem order to 5. (Allow micro-payments to be micro.)

Bugs:

  1. [ok] When selecting “sell at TP” from the inventory, often the sell dialog won’t fully load until I select a different item. It then jumps back to the original item. This causes 3 times as many clicks as it should.
  2. [ok – although now it always takes additional clicks, which I’m not sure is an overall improvement] When selecting “sell at TP” from the inventory, it will display the “sell” page, but the tab selected on the left will be that of the “buy” page. So if I want to buy something after selling, I first have to select any other tab and then go back to the “buy” tab.
  3. [not sure] Sometimes the wrong item is sold (for the price of a different item). This also leads to unintended overpriced sell orders and keeps costing us money.
  4. [remains unsolved – but now the selling process is so slow that I hardly see it anymore. Again, not an overall improvement!] “Error attempting to sell”, should be removed altogether or at the very least get a more descriptive error message.
  5. [unsure] In the “buy” list view, something sometimes doesn’t fully load so you don’t get the item pop-ups on mouse-over.
  6. [remains unsolved] People should not be able to put in buy orders for a price below the minimum sell price (they can never be filled), and such existing buy orders should be removed.

As you can see, some of the issues were indeed solved. Others, sadly, remain. Some stuff got worse.

Continued in next post as I hit the max. body length…

Voting with my wallet

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Pixelpumpkin.4608

Pixelpumpkin.4608

Voting with my wallet doesn’t work for several reasons:

  1. ANet, in the grand scheme of things, will never know that my EUR 10/month are no longer coming in.
  2. Even if they did notice, they would have no way of knowing whether it was because I’m still grumpy about town clothes, or newly grumpy about the TP, or the SAB, or grumpy about something completely different like the Living Story (which I’m not).
  3. There is only so many times you can decide to financially boycott the game (which is once) and most of us have already done it ages ago.

The only thing that would clear this up would be a professional survey.

People who don’t specifically look for an mmo to buy – those who might be more challenged by new game concepts – don’t go and buy an mmo. No matter how du,bed down te tutorial (or the entire first half of the game) is – they won’t even get in here to see it.
