I don’t see discrimination in any of this.
TC works well enough as an RP server for me.

You missed the following special events / living story parts:
- Halloween
- Christmas
- Southsun Cove event that introduced Karkas
- Super Adventure Box (April special) platformer
Flame & Frost is still going on, so you have, err, 5 days to complete that although I don’t know how realistic it is if you also need to level up your character at the same time. I’d say go for it.
Cool items that are discontinued come out all the time, but many of them can still be bought from the trading post (for a LOT of gold) if you really really want them.

The way you handle a crossbow is completely different to how you handle a bow
OR a rifle… so it makes no sense to use a crossbow and apply your bow or rifle skills… Crossbows should have their own skill set.

I really hope so – but I hope they will be either rebuilt or ruins, with an option to replay the F&F instance or go to the current Cragstead/Hatchery.

I think this idea is worth exploring.
Many of the dynamic events are formulaic enough (escorts, defend x, capture x) so I assume that they can be put together with some sort of point-and-click toolkit (ideally) or simple script language (hopefully) or combination of both.
New events or event chains of these types would add flavour to the world even though the mechanics won’t make for any more interesting gameplay. (It’s completely new things that would make the world even more interesting but there is no way these could be contributed by players.) I would settle for a bigger library of events of existing types, though.
Implementing a tool kit that would be usable by the average player would have to be, err, idiot-proof as well as reasonably bug-resistant would probably eat a lot of resources. I don’t know what the bottle neck is in implementing new events at ANet right now (the writing? the scripting?) but since all events, all NPC dialogues etc. would have to be proof-read, lore-corrected and approved, ANet may be better off putting in their own new events after all.
Then even if the technical tools as well as processes would be in place, for every player that got a kick out of seeing their own event in game. you would have dozens of disillusioned players who end up waiting endlessly for approval or have their ideas rejected. Maybe it’d be better if new event chains were added as part of competitions, this way players would be able to deal with the low chances a lot better.
However – after seeing some brilliant user-submitted portal levels… this is still worth exploring.

If that’s the deciding factor, I think you’ll be better off playing a game which you like for its gameplay.

3. As for dragon related shenanigans, there is an achievement “Zhaitan’s Bane” for slaying 1000 risen creatures, but none for slaying 1000 corrupted, branded or destroyer creatures.
At this moment, I don’t know if a branded devourer (for example) counts as a devourer or (in absense of “branded” as a category) nothing at all.No, these should not count. Branded creatures are not Zhaitans doing. If anything it should be named Kralkatorrik’s Bane, the dragon responsible for branding stuff.
I realise that, and I never said branded creatures should count towards Zhaitan’s Bane. I said that if risen have their own slayer achievement, then branded and corrupted creatures should also have their own achievement.
The other question still stands: does a branded devourer count towards devourer slayer, or nothing at all since it is branded (and “branded slayer” is not implemented)?
It is impossible to test once you have completed the existing slayer achievements on your account.

This seems like the most appropriate location for this post. Players Helping Players seems inappropriate, because the category is too broad. If I am wrong, please forgive me. This post will have to be fast, as I do not have a lot of time at the moment, and may seem curt – though is not my intention.
I’m looking for solo players – players who, like me, typically avoid grouping because of the “stuff” that comes along with it – to do this dungeon and get the rewards. I will make myself available as much as possible.
What I guarantee to you from myself:
- Cool, laid back, mature, and funny at times.
- Patient. Will not yell at you for dying or become impatient if you want to explore or look at cutscenes
- Will never initiate or vote to kick you (unless your behavior actually warrants it)
- All professions are welcome. Bring your profession and represent!
- I care that you get the rewards that you want, it’s not just all about me. I will put myself out there for you, because I want you to have fun. (i.e., I’m cool with multiple runs)
- Happy trails to you: I will not burden you with the discomfort of a guild invite or friend request once it’s all over. A bow, a smile, and a wave.
If you are not a “solo” player, but a cool, mature person. You are welcome too.
My info:
- Server: Kaineng
- Time Zone: EST
- Availability: Weekdays ~6pm-10pm, Weekends: ~all day
Please send me a private message if you are interested.
Let’s do this dungeon and get these rewards, guys.I am unsure if cross-server parties can do this dungeon, but it would be great as it would increase the pool of potential respondents.
P.S.: I have not used the popular gw2lfg site, and am unsure if this kind of post would be appropriate there.
Moderators: Please don’t taze my post, bro’!
Thanks!

I would like to say first, that I am for the most part happy (or at least not unhappy as such) with the voice acting and dialogue. Most is okay, some of it is rather excellent. Much of it is sort of cheesy, but I’ve come to accept this as GW2’s overall style, so it’s okay. Sorry if the rest of this post comes across as whiny!
So, first, my character’s personality.
During character creation I chose one of the three personality types (overcome obstacles with charm/dignity/ferocity) and it was my expectation that this would impact how my character reacts during personal story instances, at least on the level of how she expresses something. I realise now that there is far too much spoken dialogue in the game to record all player character lines six or more times (3 personalities X 2 genders, and later on X 5 races). But it was a small disappointment that my friend’s “charming rogue” sounds just as stuck-up as my “dignified engineer”.
Secondly, during character creation I picked the “sister” path. Then when I finally found and freed my sister, the emotional impact was… zero.
Deb: “Cool, you rescued me.”
Me: “Yeah, see you around I guess.”
(Unfairly paraphrased by me as I don’t remember the exact wording.)
Having a sister in real life… this is not how I expected it to go down. I didn’t so much expect her to show up in future story mode instances (although that would have been amazing), but at least in this one instance, there should have been tears of relief or similar.
Actually, a second. The name of the sister.
My human male noble is Ascalonian. I went with a Saxon name: Ahrwit. It combines terms relating to honour with a suffix for cunning.
So having Ahrwit blather about “Debs” kind of.. bugged me. I treat that section as not ‘me’.
<.<
I had a same problem.

I’ve had that a few times, and I was also under the impression that it very recently got worse. Today I did the second half of my monthly jumping puzzles and was zoomed up/down with/without falling damage like crazy.
(In some cases I fell without taking any damage although I clearly should have (branded mine) and in other cases I fell off the same thing 3 times in a row (kept getting warped back up) and then ended up still standing upstairs (Southsun Cove)… no idea what is going.)
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
It’s weird, you’d like to get rid of them while I’d like MORE of them.
Like… I would like to see my dailies/monthlies as well as be able to add the slayer, dungeon, jumping puzzle or whatever other achievement(s) I am currently working on, without having to manually switch back and forth between them every time.

I know this isn’t technically a bug, but the forum description says “report bugs and issues” and this is an issue (or several) to me.
My issues are:
1. The list is sort of alphabetical, but not quite, like somebody slapped on some more entries later without caring where they go. I frequently trip over this when looking for a specific one in my list.
2. There is “biological” (Slayer) and “cultural” (Bane) achievements.
So next to Inquest (Asura), Nightmare Court (Sylvari), Flame Legion (Charr) and Sons of Svanir (Norn), shouldn’t “Bandit Slayer” be “Bandits’ Bane”?
3. As for dragon related shenanigans, there is an achievement “Zhaitan’s Bane” for slaying 1000 risen creatures, but none for slaying 1000 corrupted, branded or destroyer creatures.
At this moment, I don’t know if a branded devourer (for example) counts as a devourer or (in absense of “branded” as a category) nothing at all.
4. I would like to humbly suggest slayer achievements for special events. “Molten Slayer/Bane” could have worked beautifully. They could also already have been secretly counted while they were still just called “invaders”, with the achievement showing up in the list later. (If we can have achievements for Halloween and Christmas themed jumping puzzles, then why not slayers, too?)
5. It’s “Sons of Svanir’s Bane”, not “Son’s”.
I realise that I must come across as supremely anal, and that this should not be awarded top priority, but I had to get it off my chest. Thank you.
6. There’s no slayer achievement for Steam Creatures.
7. There’s no slayer achievement for Aetherblade.

Problem is that they already count towards “Zhaitan’s Minions” slayer (same as “risen” anything else).
Maybe it’ll be amended by placing more non-risen giants into other (new?) zones.

it’s common sense to burn down weaker enemies first and then deal with the more significant ones by themselves.
This would be true if we didn’t rally.
I purposely DON’T target weaker enemies and just let them take collateral damage / aoe, so when the big ugly guy downs somebody they are only one easy kill away from rallying which is SO MUCH FASTER than healing them.

I read somewhere that soulbound items become account bound when you place them in the bank and the delete the character, so that seems to work for at least some items (like starter gear?) but I haven’t tried it myself.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I almost exclusively play my level 80, but not often on level 80 maps. Things to do (such as boss events, jumping puzzles, chests, fun fynamic events etc) are spread out throughout all maps. I seem to hang out in Caledon Forest and Metrica Province a lot, both are starter areas.

My first (and main) is an engineer.

You can play them for a while without using kits, just pistols or rifle + additional skills.
I didn’t start using kits until much later, but it is a long road to map completion, so there is enough time to get acquainted with any class.
Just pick one that “speaks” to you, or try different ones in low level areas until you find one that you like; levelling is fast enough, so starting over is not a huge waste of time.

I see people asking for monthlies to be easier (more categories to choose from, etc.) and other people asking for them to be harder (as they run out of things to do just days into the month).
My suggestion is this:
Make the different categories have unlimited tiers, with each tier being twice as hard as the one before.
This way, casual players could aim for their tier 3 achievement point in puzzle jumping (example), while hardcore puzzle jumpers wouldn’t run out of something to strive for.
Monthlies would never seem too hard to even bother (150 audiologs? why even try?), nor would people run out of veterans to kill two dungeon runs into the month.
At the end of the month, they would still be reset, so at the beginning of the next month the first few points would be easy to achieve again.
The only caveat with this, I think, is that laurels would have to be removed from the equation; so maybe there would have to be something else to compensate for that. (Example: 1 laurel / day for completing 5 dailies; additional laural possible for completing another daily category.)

I don’t like any of the porting. People just run ahead and, bam loading screen and disorientation. We tell them to stay with the group, but some never listen. I don’t mind lock-outs for fight, where you have to all cross the “gate” together. If you’re going port, put an interaction required before the fight starts.
While I found it kind of handy that I could (some of the time anyway) go repair and was warped back without having to run from a waypoint, in principle I agree with you. I would gladly sacrifice the added convenience for clarity and consistency.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Parents split up all the time, and mostly the kids live with one of them. To say that one HAS to be the mother is a bit backwards, don’t you think?
If any male NPC’s estranged child would make an appearance, would there have been forum posts about him being a bad father?

It’s 250 years after traditional fantasy GW1, I have no problem with there being technological progression.
Even the tech is still very magic-like (Asura glass, waypoints, phasing platforms – we don’t even have this tech in 2013!)
I agree that some of the Charr tech can be a little anti-immersive (like the chopper) IF you were hoping for a full-on fantasy world, but it is by far not the silliest thing in GW2, so who cares.
I love my fantasy, but I can deal with some steampunky stuff thrown in.

It wouldn’t bother me so much if this dungeon wasn’t so much better than the regular ones. This is so much more fun :’-(
Also, I am kind of hoping that holiday-themed dungeons (not necessarily with the original rewards) will re-appear for the same holiday a year later – it would still be limited as hell but give players the chance to catch up.
I missed both the Halloween and Christmas dungeons and jumping puzzles, and I’d be super happy if I got another go at them in 2013.

I did four runs – got insignias each time (2 yellow, 2 orange).
I would love the jetpack, but giving that I’ll probably do the dungeon once a day (absolute maximum) eh… not getting my hopes up

You were probably unlucky with your team setup or were with people, who had never done it before. Once you know the mechanics, it is actually really easy. The boss fight is still challenging, but once you are on top of jumping waves and dodging red circles it really is not that difficult. Maybe try looking for an experienced group!
Pretty much this. Only times I’ve had pugs fail is when no one communicates or cooperates. Then people start getting frustrated and bail and it’s all downhill. Other end of the spectrum it’s smooth as butter…even the boss.
This ^ so much.
We went in the first evening together with three others who hadn’t done it, and we had no problems completing it (okay, we died a lot, but no SERIOUS problems). It was super fun.
Second PUG was okay, too.
PUG number 3 and 4… well, you can’t always be lucky. Why did #4 do so poorly? No communication and cooperation. Soured everything, very frustrating.
The dungeon is challenging, but if I can do it, then I really really think most players / characters can. Try again with a funner bunch of randomers. Good luck!
