Things that you can do with 1-5 players:
- SAB
- Living world instances (scale)
- Personal story instances (scale)
I don’t see why it wouldn’t be possible to change dungeons so they scale for 1-5 people as well – or possibly for groups a little larger of 5 (but this side of zergs).
I would really appreciate this as I mainly play in groups of 2-3, and have to PUG a lot.

To answer your question, yes you need all POIs, waypoints, skill challenges and hearts. It doesn’t matter when they were added. If the total count says that you’re one POI short, then you’re one POI short.
You do not need the Shiverpeak Explorer achievement for world map completion, that is its own thing.
But really, posting on the forums probably DID take you longer than getting the POI. :P

And if they do then they truly deserve the title obsessive. Or what ever they call the title
I can’t help but think that if you’re truly obsessive, the satisfaction of seeing all the orange bars is reward enough

The thing that tripped us up is that you have to kill the champion captain repeatedly until such time that the NPCs decide to leave the island. We killed the captain three times, each time was difficult, and each time we were fewer people – 5, 4, then 3, because people got bored of it.

Then I remember wrong – like I said, it’s been months since I played the personal story

About hard mode only coming in later, or about hard mode probably being quite hard?

You can see the portals on the map (white swirls). One in Red Keep, one in Blue Keep, and one in Green Keep.

Am I sure? :P
Yes, my main is human / order of whispers which means I got all the Caudecus action in my personal story.
Human (level 1-10): the early story line is to help Logan uncover corruption in the ministry, at which point it is pretty obvious (if I remember right) that Caudecus is a bad guy.
Order of Whispers (level 31-40): I think this comes to a conclusion later on when you do the Order of Whispers path and apprehend Caudecus officially.
Level-wise, this happens at the same time as the dungeon story.

Almost
The EB puzzle can be accessed from any of the three “home” keeps (portals in keeps) – not the center one, and it is definitely not in an instance (wish it was – then you would be safe from enemy attacks)
The other three jumping puzzles are all in the same spot in the three borderlands maps – top left corner, behind the waterfall (jump from the top of the mountain ledge).

I’d appreciate anybody tagging along really but 9:30pm your time is 4:30am my time
Plus I’ll be out of town for a few days starting tomorrow, but should you still want to do this in a week from now, I’m sure we could find a window to run this one together… (we’re on Tarnished Coast) so please feel free to add me.

It was going to play a role in “hard mode”.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I disagree that they should be done once you reached the level to do the story mode. It would make sense to do them in the order of their level though to follow that story arc.
Of course they should be done in order, but there are also dependencies between the dungeon stories and the personal stories.
Example: Caudecus’ Manor is level 40. The story is “Rescue Queen Jennah”. My character is now way beyond level 40 and in my own personal story, Caudecus has long been dealt with. It simply makes no sense, from a story standpoint, to get to a higher level and then go back in time.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
We’ve tried it a few times, but it is difficult to get started, so if you solo or do it with few people, you waste a LOT of time.
We’ll try again with a bigger group some time during server peak hours so that we can go through all the pre-events faster and people don’t get frustrated and quit half way.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I don’t mind dungeons being difficult, especially in explorable mode.
But I do very, very much wish that I would have been able to do them in story mode at the appropriate point in my character’s development / story. As it stands, my character has been level 80 forever, almost concluded her personal story, and NOW that I am maxed, traited and geared out I a going back to rescue Queen Jennah from Caudecus’ Manor? That doesn’t make me very happy.
Story mode should be doable without reading guides (spoilers!) first or having some other player explaining the story to you. It’s anti-immersive.
So, I think story mode should be easier to the point that people can do it at the appropriate level and without resorting to spoilers.
Additional paths can be super hard for all I care.

I’ve only run the SAB with one alt so far; primarily to get to the chests. I don’t go daily, it’s very casual, but I did pick up both the shovel and the bomb, because I thought I might just as well pick up the fast/bigger baubles on the way, and that includes some of the secret room.
I haven’t picked up the whip or slingshot with my alt. I would get the candle though if I’d be bothered to go through zone 3.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
My thief, despite being a ‘cute’ (ugh) human has never been ‘hit on’. Maybe it’s her grumpy looks or those two knives as long as her thighs.
I prefer norn females though, at least they look like adults, the human females look like they should still be at school…
I agree, this annoys me somewhat as well
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I chose the classes that I thought would be the most fun to play. I don’t see why you would think that one’s sex plays any role in determining what classes they enjoy playing on this game though.
It’s a response to another thread.
Where the same statement was made.
Does gender really play a role in class selection? I’d think it occurs more in race selection than class. For example, guys may tend to go for chars/norn while females may tend to go for sylvari/asura/human/etc.
I don’t believe that is the case either. (I’m female with a human and a norn char, although it would have been more typical for me to go for charr – I usually play orcs or trolls were available.)
http://gw2census.com/charts.php numbers suggest that there is no significant difference in race preference between male and female players.

Maybe going to http://gw2census.com/charts.php would be the better option.

Guardians and axes? This doesn’t fit at all. 2Hand Axe sounds like a 1 profession only weapon which would be a total waste.
Why? I can see a 2-handed axe in the hands of a warrior, ranger, or necromancer.
I would love to see 2-handed axes, myself.
Re: Scythes – didn’t I just see somebody in game with something that looked like a scythe? Or did I make that up??

The only difference that I know of is that you can sell the ones that drop from chests on the trading post; you cannot sell the ones that you buy from Moto.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I support this.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I may be the only one but I’m happy with my supply crate, and my boyfriend’s (thief) ninjas are really making quite a difference, too. Before attacking a champion or anything else that would be a challenge we wait for our skills to reset and it makes a big difference.
So I don’t know, maybe I don’t have the same expectations as some other people here, but I’m happy.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I’ve been in that situation and for a split second felt the same, however, I quickly called myself to order.
ANet (re-)designed the current system this way so people of all playing styles would be able to complete dailies and get their rewards & personal satisfaction.
An achievement that you only get if you complete all categories instead of your favourite five would completely nullify that. We’d be back in the days where ANet made the choice for you and if there was something in there that you couldn’t or didn’t want to do, tough luck, no achievement. This was changed for good reasons
The current system is good as it is.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Yes, sadly, you have to pick up all the zone baubles in one go. But if you have another party member in there, it is safe to leave the box and come back later as the original instance is kept up.
I have used several (too many…) continue coins as I was struggling with the jumping up to Moto’s breath and still got the achievement.
I think you have to slay the frog boss before you can see whether you got the achievement or not.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I found this in the German language forum – it looks accurate to me! (Beedog zone 3 maze)
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I’d give Cox a raise. Honestly if you think about it, they just made Anet a huge profit. It’s a smart call, looking at it from a business position. It’s a job, that needs to be kept in your mind as well.
I don’t know. Yes, some people are dumping a lot of money into the lottery that it is.
I, on the other hand, WOULD be spending real money if I knew what was in the dye packs; this way, I simply refuse. I guess there are others who see it the same way.
I guess the bottom line is that the lottery system is financially better for ANet, or otherwise they wouldn’t do it this way. /shrug

Okay, this is something of a rant, because I’ve spent the last 45m trying to finish two jump puzzles in Dredgehaunt Cliffs, and I’m honestly to the point that I’m NOT having fun with the game anymore, and have logged out in frustration.
Devs, for the love of god, if you want to put jump puzzles into the game, that’s fine, but don’t make them REQUIRED to finish a zone. Not everyone enjoys playing “guess when to tap the space bar” in order to finish a zone. I like to challenge myself by taking on multiple mobs, big mobs, soloing champions, and the like. A “challenge” to me is not figuring out when to hit the flipping space bar, with a misclick resulting in a fall to my death.
If people enjoy jump puzzles, more power to them. But please, DO NOT make them mandatory.
I know where you’re coming from.
In the beginning, the jumping was seriously challenging for me. I remember getting unbelievably frustrated trying to get a vista in Divinity’s Reach that required me jumping from column to column.
Many months later, today, jumping puzzles are my favourite thing about GW2 (with all the frustration attached), but it was a long road, and I totally understand that not everybody wants to or will travel it. Getting to vistas no longer frustrates me as I’ve been through worse.
I do think that map completion should come with one or the other challenge, so in my book it’s fine that there is a few select maps that are difficult to finish. But one person’s frustration is another person’s joy. One person enjoys doing heart quests and for another person it’s dull drone work. I love jumping, but I find dungeons ridiculously hard and struggle with them. I think overall the balance of things needed for map completion is a fair one.
My best advice is to ask somebody in /map (or on here) who is experiences in that area to walk together with you. They can take care of the mobs together with you, show you where to go, heal if you fall, etc.
Other than that, the best thing I can say is: If I could do it, so can you (probably) (But I do feel sorry for the frustration.)
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Between our edge-walking and your more detailed map, I think we’ll be able to create something really cool! The edge-walking sadly isn’t very precise as you can’t zoom into the map far enough. But we can use it to “straighten out” orientation and scale.
Turns out there is an actual “North” to the maps.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
MaideN, your work is amazing. What technique are you using?
Crazy and I have just run the zone 1 map, staying to the edges wherever possible, to get a better sense of the actual scale and orientation of things. Sadly, this technique isn’t going to work in the swamp :\

Seems to be the Stag set, according to this very handy website:

i did it in paint(lack of time) and i hope someone uses this as a reference for PS version with better quality
Awesome!!
Step 1: Zoom Out
Step 2: Position Camera above head
Step 3: Methodically walk the SAB in a grid pattern taking a screen shot every 10 steps
Step 4: Use Photoshops stitch function to put it all togetherShould only take you…oh…. two or three months…give or take.
For everybody’s information, we just tried that and boy does it not work. So manual sketching it is.

I would love some new jumping puzzles .
I have two yet to complete (that one in Orr with the orbs, and Skipping Stones – which I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to do). (Oh, and I missed both the Halloween and Christmas one.)
But yeah, I would love to see more, of all variations – super easy to super hard, timed and not, etc.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I’m the same sort of stuck, but there is a little more movement in our tier so I just might be lucky next round.
But I wish you and everybody else the best of luck with this.
Color rotation would mean the same chance for everybody, no matter their server.

I’ll admit that I struggled with some directions I found online, such as “there is a bauble to the East” – I don’t believe there is an “East” in the SAB. o_0
Well, I might start working on this for the joy of it. But still if anybody knows of any maps, let me know…
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
Ohhh, I misread. I thought this was about story mode. Sorry!
Yeah, I have all three explorable paths still to do.
Tony, can I add you to my friend list and ping you in game some time?

I don’t personally care whether it is “Jormag” or “Yormag”, I just wish the NPCs would make up their minds and settle for one of the two.
Then again, taking a North European name like “Kalle” (Kal-le) and pronouncing it “Kale” is somewhat… poor. Breaks my immersion every time.
Both things don’t really say to me “this is how Norn pronounce things”, but rather “this is how many kittens our voice director gave”.

Based on the icon Omnomberry have in gave I thought they may be close to Mangosteen. A friend of mine from Hong Kong show me a picture of them and I my comment was: “That is an Omnomberry!”
She said Mangosteen are very juicy, but I have never seen and/or eat them in real life. Below there is a Mangosteen pic; do you think it looks like an Omnomberry?
Mangosteen are superdelicious.
You can only eat the white “pods”. They have a jelly-filled texture that reminds me of lychees.
The taste is sweet and sour, somewhat reminiscent of passionfruit.
Incidentally, without making the actual connection to mangosteen, I imagined the taste of omnomberries pretty much like this.
Of course, the actual plants look nothing like omnomberry plants.

Primordus has to surface again some time anyway, if only so we can fight him. If/when that happens, dwarves (or… dwarf) could play a role. I would personally like to see more of them, but only as NPCs.

Just out of interest:
has anybody created an approximation of an SAB mini-map? (Google was less than helpful.)
(Disclaimer: I’ve completed the SAB with all achievements, I’m not asking for people to make it easier for me. I am, however, a bit of a map geek and I’m simply very, very interested in seeing a map. I love the maps!)
I might attempt to draw one myself, but I wanted to see if anything’s out there first.
PS: It would also be cool to have this for bauble guides and such – I personally don’t like watching video walkthroughs much. But this is secondary.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
lets discuss who is actually enjoying the game at level 80. also, do you consider this game a grind? in my opinion, people are leaving this game because its incredible boring and grindfest at level 80. what do you guys think?
Okay, to answer properly:
Yes, this game is still fun for me. I’ve been maxed out at 80 with my main for months, and been playing a few alts (although none of them is level 80, my play-time is too limited).
First, I was primarily interested in PvE, exploring places, getting to know the world, and levelling my character up to 80. —> I am pretty much done with that, albeit only on one character/race/class.
Then I started striving for achievements. We found jumping puzzles. Awesome. This was our main focus for a while.
The we found mini-dungeons.
The map completion achievement made me check out WvW and PvP (not knowing the there were no PvP POIs to get). I started to sPvP a bit. Fun, but I can definitely do a lot more there. I want to get into WvW properly, too.
We still have most dungeon paths to do.
I haven’t finished my personal story and would like to play through other races’ personal stories up to level 20 or whatever it is. I have yet to finish the Priory and Vigil paths.
Then the SAB happened. After not being very taken with Halloween or Christmas, I really loved this one; another time sink. I also seem to be more grateful for the living story content than many other players.
There is still some maps’ meta-events that I have never played through, and tons of dynamic events.
I haven’t even STARTED on fractals.
I haven’t even started spending my laurels or working on a legendary.
There is a whole dimension opening up if RP is your thing at all.
There is SO MUCH STUFF that I created a google doc for my boyfriend and me to keep track of our jumping puzzles, boss achievements, dungeon paths, mini-dungeons, diving locations, and I will add meta-events to the table, too. Otherwise we wouldn’t even know what we’ve missed so far. GW2 is truly massive with a lot things to offer.
Whenever I get bored with one aspect of the game, there is another one, unexplored. I can see the end of this on the horizon and I guess if I had 7 hours each day to play I would eventually get bored, but with limited playtime (and the weather getting better each day) I honestly don’t see myself losing interest anytime soon.

(edited by Pixelpumpkin.4608)
I would like to see some of these enhancements.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I also go to low-level areas for this; I rotate through them so it doesn’t get too repetitive, or depending on daily achievement categories such as “Krytan killer”, “Ascalonian killer” and so on.
I never feel I have to grind events for monthlies though as I partake in them whenever possible if I bump into them on the way.
By the way, for certain types of events it is enough to do one thing – to hand a single item (sometimes even none?) to the collector, kill a single ooze, etc. – for you to get the credit (if the event succeeds). So you can get your participation in and then move on to find another event and just watch the karma trickle in, if you have somewhere else to be. This does not work however should you be in a loading screen when the event ends, and not sure about WvW maps.
I prefer to stick around and do event chains, but like I said, I’m not usually pressed for time.
~ Whips ~ City Minigames ~ City Jumping Puzzles ~
I would have totally taken advantage of this as I have just started doing dungeons. As it happens though, we JUST did TA story mode yesterday. (We still have most of the others to do.)
