Pistol/pistol Kit engineer – Sinister stats
- Highest dps in fights over 10s;
- Deadly at all ranges, lots of AoE;
-Easy access to perma swiftness through trait;
-Statset covers both direct damage and conditions, meaning you only need one set;
-Engineer is a Jack of all Trades, kinda like a Bard;
-Easy to start playing, challenging to master;
-Good support options through water/fire fields.
Bump since we’re open again.
Thief, due to the easily accessible stealth allowing you to bypass mobs and grab guarded Heropoints.
You can still solo champs on a ranger. You might just have to adjust your build a bit. Lupi is another thing though.
I’ve been murdering the new content on a condi trapper Druid. You should probably be aware that condition damage had a major overhaul since you last played, and a Trapper can condispike like nobody’s business.
I’m a Co-GL from a mediumsized PvX guild on Yak’s Bend. We’re international, Predominantly NA/Ocx, and have people playing 24/7.
you’re welcome to come check us out at GW2Society.enjin.com.
Belial’s advice is pretty solid. I’d like to add that I’ve had good experiences with AMD.
As shadowcatz suggested, for GW2 at least go for CPU over GPU in investment priority, because that’s the major bottleneck.
Also, i’d settle on 8GB for now. If you use the standard client you’ll only use 3GB or so, and the Beta 64bit client does fine with with 8GB. You can add more memory later.

I have had no problems looking at a map, seeing where a commander tag is and heading there. What stops you from doing so?
Elite Specializations & Hero Point Feedback [Merged]

Wow. so basically the official word is that the many many pages of people who are complaining about this should just shut up? Also confirming that people who have played for 16 hrs still shouldn’t have their elites unlocked? Well that just kittens me off.
Referenced from dev post under topic
elite specializations – how many hero points [Merged]Just thought this particular dev post deserved it’s own topic.
So the new content and Specs that Anet has worked on for at least a year can’t be blown through in under 16 hours? You are surprised that an ELITE spec takes a modicum of effort?
It’s entirely logical that they paced progression. People would be complaining that there was nothing to do in a week or two otherwise. which may still happen.
I would like to unlock the elite specs as ell on my 25 80s, but I don’t mind getting some playtime out of the product I paid for while doing so.
If you add Trappers to PvP without adding some base damage to Thief traps, you’ll have thieves killing stupid people who don’t have any condi cleanse at all without ever breaking stealth, since condi damage by itself does not proc revealed.
I see a fair few trapper thieves inWvW, and allowing a build with little to no counterplay (stand in their smokefield, if you are close enough) doesn’t make for good pvp.
I fixed that for you.
That build is all troll and no teeth. It only ever kills someone once, then they come back with condi cleanse they should have been running anyway and laugh at it. It wouldn’t perform at all in sPvP as nobody there is dumb enough to run without basic cleanses.
It has counterplay. Lots of it.
Oh sure, because what you want in a competitive gamemode that’s supposed to be an Esport is encouraging troll builds that you have to change your build to deal with.
Righto. Changing your build isn’t ‘counterplay’,

Hello All,
There are a couple of reasons for the change to reset time. One is for the overall quality of the game. The last few years we have been careful to not disrupt the WvW reset time but this has at times made it difficult for our team to address issues during reset day. This change will give our team an extra day of the week that they can use to respond to issues that may occur with WvW or any other area of the game if it is necessary. In the early days we wanted reset to be during a weekday to ensure we had people available to monitor the game at reset time, but at this point we have seen the ongoing stability of World vs. World and resetting on a weekday is no longer necessary.
Hi John, thank you for taking the time to share your reasoning with us, something you’re not obligated to do.
However, I have to question the timing of this reset change and the (partial) reason for it.
You are about to lauch HoT in a week, and with it the new Borderlands map, including lots of new mechanics. There are always issues when launching new content, possibly gamebreaking ones. By implementing this change now, you’re guaranteeing that you can’t take action until after the weekend, potentially ruining the launch of a whole gamemode.
By changing the times again you’ve effectively excluded SEA/Ocx players completely, where they could play reset before. It’s admirable that you want more players to experience reset, but the previous time was set so that everyone had a shot at it over the majority of timezones. The current change ditches that in favour of offering more casual NA players room to experience reset over your established SEA/Ocx players who have supported the game since launch.
Are we acceptable losses in favour of larger reset queues?

Bugger, I'm not eligible for a free char slot
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Pretty Pixie.8603
If you sell all the mats in your bank, you will raise a lot of money towards a char slot. Let us know how it goes, I might be able to donate to your cause if Support comes up short.
For Celestial to be any good for a class, it needs to check the following boxes:
-decent base damage
-decent base condi application
-able to use all stats including Healing Power (HP only scales decently with regen)
-able to build and maintain Might by itself.
Rev ticks the boxes on a few, and can do very well with the might. Condi only works with Mallyx and on one set of weapons. To make use of the HP you’d need to go Ventari. To get good Might uptime either shiro or Herald.
Herald has some support for group healing, so you’d be looking at Glint/Mallyx as a build, and my first impression is that it would be less than optimal.
So if the goal is to move income generation behind time and gear gated content (a dev did come out to say raids require ascended; another clarified it on reddit by saying it was ‘recommended’) aren’t you excluding the casual audience you’ve marketed to the last 3 years?
Raids need BiS gear and high communication, fractals at a high level (with the goalposts moved to 100) have a high gear requirement for casual players. If you then remove (by all intents and purposes; dungeons will likely be abandoned if there’s no sufficient reward for your efforts) dungeons as an income stream, with the alternative locked away behind a skill/gear/communication wall, you create a two tier system with a minority able to get a solid income, and casual pve players left in the dust, while the economy marches on.
Hi there.
I wanting the Molten Alliance Mining Pick for some time now. mean reason is i do a lot of minung and its enoyinig when you ran out of picks. and also they cost its not a lot but if you combine every pick you bought its nice gold. so yea i would really appreciate it.Also i would like to add thet im REALLY proud to be a part of this community. thank you anet for making this GREAT game.
My advice would be to go for the Aetherized pick instead. It is the only pick that gives a chance of getting sprockets whilst mining. They sell for quite a bit.
I’ll try to contact you in game to help you out. Bear in mind we’re likely in different timezones though. (Western Oz here). I do play regularly during the day though.
I teach newbies for my guild, so I can help you out with a basic build and improving your play. I can also help you improve PvP. It plays quite differently from PvE.
Traps with trapper runes are a pretty powerful build for ranger, even if it does sacrifice stunbreakers to do so. I can clear a camp in wvw in record time, and set trap bombs for unwary players.
I’m not convinced by the need for remote detonation. If you’re worried about catching more mobs, it’s a matter of rounding up a few, then drop the spike trap to knock them up, so you can drop the others on top without interference. I very seldom waste a trap on single mobs in PvE.
It also doesn’t fit the flavor of traps. Traps are fairly basic contraptions to harm your opponent. remote detonation feels more technologically advanced, like mines. If you gave traps remote detonation, it would be a copy of the engies mines.
Hi CM,
I contacted you ingame through mail. I thought I’d let you know here in case you missed it.
To properly identify what your issue is, it would be helpful if you could detail what it is you don’t like about classes. It might be a build issue, a lack of understanding how to play a class to the best, or parts of GW2 ’s design not working for you.
Impossible to tell without knowing what irks you.
Always happy for moar people!
I’ve got the Aetherized Hammer skin just for a moment like this.
started playing about a month ago, never really had gold to buy it but if anyone is nice enough I would really love a copper-fed-salvage kit and maybe a pet rock
I have a few gems left from the sale. Not enough for the copper-o-matic, but there’s a pet rock in your future. Give it 8 hours, I’m at work.
Greetings! Thank you for opting to help this player out. <3
:)I just want to make sure that this pet rock gift was given as KLT has not updated their desire posting.
If it was, KLT, would you please be so kind as to edit your post to reflect the giving of this gift. You can edit your post to mark the pet rock as having been gifted by clicking the little pencil icon in the bottom right of your post, make your edit stating it was gifted, and then saving the changes.
Not sure how if KLT will return to post here, but I did send them the mini, and got a gracious ‘Thank you.’
I see you put in your application already! Rush sent you an invite. Welcome to SCTY!
As I clearly said what would be useful for a mesmer or cooking folks stop being an elitist please and actually read the original post. And if it actually did make sense you would of said they all cost nearly the same in the first place!
Mate, they gave you all the relevant information you needed to make an informed decision. These guys are helpful members of our cummunity.
Calling someone that goes out of their way to inform you elitist is rather rude.

All new players welcome!
My main dislike for traps is their long CDs. They’d be a lot more useful in the 20-30s range, instead of the kitten they are now. With a shorter cooldown trapper runes become interesting. Plop down the one with the lowest CD to proc stealth, then drop the others unseen where you need them.
When i see: ``Raid/high level fractal groups – Reapers are welcome´´, i ll say that ArenaNet did a good job with our class.
Fixed that for you.
What was so good about p/p? The only time I seen unload to be of any use is probably through feilds and that’s about it. Can any 1 explain the hype over p/p?
P/P was never inherently ‘good’. It was servicable with Ricochet. It is a cool set though, and people like the look of it. The obvious next step is then to want it to be a worthwhile choice.
I’m currently using it on a condi venom roamer. 1 Unload loads a player up on a fair bit condi, making for a nice opener.
I’m not on an EU server, so I can’t help you, but I suggest looking at the LFG subforum and find yourself a guild. There’s plenty out there that would love to have you.
Good luck!
They would need to do a lot of work to make GW2 playable on consoles. Couple that with hardware limitations, Anet business model probably not being very wotkable for consoles, and I can see why it’s not on their radar.
You can ask, and you can hope, but it seems extremely unlikely.
25 toons at level 80. All geared in exotics minimum. I have a set of most useful ascended trinkets, and swap those in on the character I’m currently playing.
I’ll be adding one or two Revenants in the future. I have so many because I like to make different looks. Need to show off all the bling I collected!
(edited by Pretty Pixie.8603)
I don’t think your personal experiences are representative of the community as a whole. Have you visisted the ‘Players helping Players’ subforum? Foghlodha has a popular thread there where he gives starter kits for new players, for instance. There’s another thread of someone giving out dyes to newbies; when Play for Free started there were groups of vets in the starter areas with buffs etc setup to welcome the new players as well.
I personally help where I can as well, depending on the situation; i like to send a few bags and food consumables to new players, yesterday I came across a returning player who I talked through all the changes and helped them regear, gifting them some exo weapons to compliment their temple armour. The day before I sent some gold to a guildie so they could actually afford a skin or two from the mordrem event. That doesn’t make me particularly special, at all. Many do things like this.
There’s plenty of generous players in game, whether it’s in sharing their knowledge, time, or goodies.
There’s currently an encore sale going on over the weekend, I’m hopeful we’ll see characterslots during it. Probably one of the ‘only one at this price’ deals.
Time for another bumperino.
As others have noted, this is an extremely poor event to introduce new players to. There are no rewards for events, participation is restrictive, and a new player is totally unable to purchase a decent reward. I ended up sending gold to guildies so they could get a skin.
If Anet is targeting this at new players and guild participation, then there should be reason for them to participate. There is none. In the worst case they spend the weekend grinding and discovering at the end that the rewards will be out of their reach, and will be for months. A level 20 will not have 10g to spend by doing an event that doesn’t reward gold.
Flesh Wound is right in his assessment that it looks like the primary consideration was impact on the economy over fun. This needs to be addressed afterwards if you don’t want to leave new players with a sour taste in their mouths.
If you guys are referring to extreme ping and lag (skills not firing for seconds, rubber banding) I’m experiencing the same thing since two days. I’ve been on Windows 10 for a while, and it hasn’t been a problem so far. It’s possible that an update for W10 is causing the issue. Personally I think that it might have to do with the (end of the) BWE.
I had the same issue. it either needs to flash when it comes of CD (which you might not even notice) or separated. As it is now it doesn’t even show which bind you need to hit to activate it, and you can’t tell if it’s off CD without squinting.
Can beta server run early without staff?

Is there any phrase more overused on the Internet than “a slap in the face”? I can’t even take you seriously after that.
In complete agreement. If the worst you have to moan about is a few hours on a beta weekend, things aren’t all that bad.
Long range burst DPS + stealth would be overpowered. It’s probably why they went with staff instead.
That’s my point. I just think Devs should offer some kind of clarification to those Core players so they know they won’t be left behind.
Core players are likely to be left behind though. HoT is the new product they’re selling. Core is the teaser to get you interested. It’s financially unrewarding for them to put in major development time to develop Raids for free players. It undermines their business model.
Middle Eastern inspired weaponry, like scimitars, curved greatswords, that kind of thing.

Hi peeps! I’m Pix from The Society, and I’d like to tell you a little bit about us.
The Society is a medium sized guild that has build a reputation for being helpful and newbie friendly. We have members in all time zones and from all over the world, and our main goal is to have fun together. You can expect active conversations in both our TS Channel, or if that’s not your thing, in Guildchat.
Our recruitment policy is simple; We accept anyone on a trial basis, to see if you mesh with us and vice versa. We realise that you are important to the guild, helping to make it what it is. Due to this we ended up very new player friendly. Our Council and officers are very experienced, and keen to help with anything from beginner’s tips to in depth build advice.
We don’t do ‘mandatory’. Members are encouraged to participate, but it’s always their choice. Your time, your decision.
The Society is active in WvW (Including Ninja Nights!), runs frequent dungeons, farming events, living story, guild missions and other content. We are friendly and inclusive, giving members a comfortable atmosphere to game in. We boast a solid core of active players that have been playing since BWE1, and are more than willing to share their knowledge with fellow guildies.
We cater to all timezones, but are most strongly represented in the North American timeslots. We are currently looking to bolster our numbers for SEA/OCX/EU timezones, But NA is more than welcome.
To join, please apply through our website (Addy at the top of this post).

Still looking for more players to join our family, new or old!
Play for Free players are more than welcome!
Its a valid complaint, even looking beyond the “But its not FAIR, I want to play my spec NOW!” stuff.
Being available in less BWEs means less time to test and give feedback, which means less polish and improvement.
Hopefully Engie and Ranger still get at least 2 BWE worth of testing, though. Still a lot less than the 4 some others will have gotten by that point, but hopefully enough to iron out most of the big issues.
This argument rests on the idea that there’s only limited time available for testing/finetuning, while profession balancing/finetuning is an ungoing thing.
It’s quite possible they’re more confident about the last two specs, considering how they featured in the initial trailer. Regardless, previous experience shows us that all professions and specs will see more finetuning based on feedback leading up to, and after release.
Seeing how another BWE was just announced, it seems that a large part motivating the OP to write this post is their desire to play their Elite spec in the upcoming BWE.
