to you
a better alternative may be to just stick in a side scroller and show the top 10 rather than the top 3.
i just wanted to point out these two issues because its effecting the game in a bad way
i don’t know much of solutions to the Flippers but the RMT can be avoided by setting an “xxxx” amount of gold to be mailed to anyone per month or per week and restrict it to friend-list "For an example a friend that have been in the friend list for an “xx” amount of time"
That already exists, any large sums of money money between accounts will cause a flag, a lot of innocent people just sending money out to help strangers get caught in it.
If the tengu were to become playable then they would need a completely new model.
The current tengu have the same model as charr, so all of the animations are the same.
If they bring out a charr reskin and call it a new race then I will lose all faith in ArenaNet.
Same model does not mean same animations. Human, Sylvari and Norn all essentially have the same model (and thus same armor stretched to different portions) but they don’t have the same animations.
I’d rather the existing weapons all be viable rather than obvious meta builds dominating. Different weapons should offer different playstyles not differing levels of efficiency like they currently do.
I agree with you, Vexander. I find it odd that things like silk (or cotton, jute and linen for that matter) does not seem to come from anything but salvaged clothing; how were they made in the first place?
Discarded Garment, Rag, Torn Rag, Torn Garment, etc most of them drop very regularly from certain mobs (grawl and orges)
^^ Where did you get the idea they’re releasing a new zone in 2014? I’d like a link to that. Unless you count the new WvW map as a new zone (personally, I don’t).
But the WvW map IS a new zone.
Honest question: Have we ever been told that EOTM is accessible by anyone at any time? I.E., is it more than just an overflow map?
It’s far more than an overflow map and has very different objectives from wvw. It’s more in the middle of wvw and spvp, map is smaller.
Massively has always seemed a bit…questionable. A lot of the articles seem paid for by gaming companies rather than genuine.
New profession
I say this because given the latest patch which was stated to have huge balancing put it, I’m not convinced GW2 will ever get to a point where things are actually balanced, where a single and obvious meta build isn’t the be all end all due to how much more extremely efficient it is over anything else.
Am I the only one boggled WHY people would even place a BUY order on a chest? XD I get stacks of these and try and get rid of them!
18.3% profit from resale
(if you get 250 of them at 4c and sell at 6c it’s 2s73c for doing basically nothing)
If you really wanted to make the game pay to win, you could pay someone to play the game for you!
Game over
Well, I can buy gems to get gold to get legendaries, to get the dungeon master title via path sellers, to get carried through fractals, to get wvw commanders to carry me to all the poi in wvw for map completion, etc….just saying.
Do it then.. lol noone will stop you… and at the end of the day I will be there laughing at you after you spent all that money and I’ve done the same thing without spending a dime
Was just pointing the flaw in the original comment as you can at the moment pretty much pay someone else to do all the hard content for you with real world dollars which that poster said would mean pay to win….I dunno why that wasn’t obvious to people. I dunno some peoples reading comprehension seems pretty low, education system is failing.
suggestion forum
and I agree, most boosts, boons (there’s a couple class issues like mesmer swiftness from focus) and conditions stack in 1 way or other it’s a little bit of an inconvenience that food doesn’t stack in duration.
This came up in another thread and I figured I might as well stick it here so that it may be corrected
At least on windows 7 (can’t remember if XP had the functionality) when you drag the browser to either side so it auto fills only half the screen you and a horizontal scroll bar is created, dragging it across will result in the background being cut off (image 1 below). Now if you paid attention you might be thinking, “Hey, he’s using Opera, no uses that, it’s just an Opera bug”
Nope it’s IE (image 2) and FF also, so it’s likely all browsers on a desktop (didn’t check on other media devices).
The issue is because the background images are defined in a parent element while the width is defined in a child element (ie css id “header” has the background image but the child element class “wrapper” is where the 960px width is defined, same is true for css id content and footer) which results in elements of the layout being able to sit outside the background ground as the parent element is being told to size to the screen but the child elements underneath it are being told to size to 960px width. In the cases were the screen is less than 960px wide you’ll end up with the attached images.
The easiest solution (although I’m not at liberty to say how appropriate it is as I’m not 100% sure what the site specifications are intended to be or if there’s responsive design going on…I haven’t checked on other media devices besides desktop) may just be to stick in the css “min-width:960px;” on the id’s which control the background (“header”, “content” and “footer”).
Blocking doesn’t stop emotes (or some chat channels) it’s been raised multiple times on the forums for the past several months and nothings happened.
if I see a blob of dead players I tend to not rez them, why? if they’re in a blob it’s because they weren’t playing smart, I’m not really sure we as a community should be rewarding players who aren’t trying to improve.
Its actually nice to help other people.
A lot of the time they’re also the same people that die 8 times in 1 fight, When you notice it enough you kind of get “eh, they aren’t even trying to improve, they’re just wasting my time” sentiments towards it.

That might be the case if pugs did not end up ranging 90% of the bosses and fail to stack in a lot of cases. So you’re not even able to 100b or use axe/mace during those circumstances (barring the few times I can rush in do my melee burst damage and then rush back out). I still go full zerker but it’s not pretty in pugs a lot of the time. For fractals, anyways—which is mainly what I do. And this is 40’s fractal I’m referring to.
I’d say your luck is bad because I’m not ending up in pugs like that and I pug everything I do almost daily.

You can disable the notication of emotes in chat.
Which disables everyone rather than just the people doing it to grief others, with spamming and griefing players violating several ToS points Anet should be handing out suspensions for this behaviour to be consistent with their behaviour policies or more fairly extend the spam suppressor to prevent the obvious abuse of emotes.
Just took another screen demonstrating the night issue more clearly since it’s a full body.
Warrior
Guardian
Mesmer
Engineer
Ranger
I like how people going nuts over this believe there’s a defined meaning to the term pay to win….there isn’t. There’s never been a clear consensus on what it means so maybe it’s time to stop being condescending and flat out rude to people who have a different view on it.
(edited by Protoavis.9107)
It’s a growing trend, intentional griefing by spamming emotes to push all relevant chat out of the chat window. Despite alleged reports from others in map chat, which has achieved nothing so far, it’s become a daily habit for some players.
Apply the current spam suppression filter to emotes so the below isn’t happening anymore
To answer some of your questions… https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/living-world-2013-the-year-in-review/
And basically from that, we won’t really find out what’s planned for 2014 (like the 2013 blog post) until March (ie after the season 1 story is over)
delete it and make it a youtube video
you know there’s three other sets besides berserker that also got that % increase, lets not target unfairly now
it likely has to do with the 42 stat point raise compared with the stat raise on other sets.
Ascended and legendary is not enough stat increase for people to actually not party up with people who don’t have it.
It’s still new, given the zerker only listings in LFG I won’t be surprised if it goes ascended zerker only in a month or two.
Point is, that unlike the Legendary Weapons in this game, it is nearly impossible to get Rank 9 Armor in Perfect World International without dropping a significant amount of real money on it.
Also, I would like to point out that Ascended and Legendary Gear only provides about a 5% bonus to a player characters vital stats when compared to Exotic Gear. That is not enough to be considered a “Significant” bonus. At least not when compared to the large gap in power between a Perfect World International Player who is wearing a full set of Rank 9 Second Recast Armor with Interval Stats, when compared to a player who is simply wearing Standard Rank 9 Armor.
Been there.
PWI is a glowing example for anyone who wants to know what a P2W game is.
This rank9 gear is so above and beyond anything farmable in game, especially once you also pay to recast it twice. Worse yet, is the refining mechanic – you dump loads more cash into the game to be able to refine this gear to +10 or +12, which is a huge gap yet again between someone with just the base model. Quite literally anyone with a credit card can login, buy their gear and smash your face. No amount of skill will save you. They just have to faceroll a couple attacks and you are dead if you are not in matching rank9 gear. They have quite literally bought the ability to steamroll anyone who is also not rich enough to have the same gear as them.
I had managed to get a rank9 bow and 2 pieces of armor. Could never afford the recasts though, let alone the obscene cost of refining it.
Not to mention the other cashshop based Annipack endgame gearings.People trying to argue GW2 as a pay to win game have obviously never played one.
At least someone here knows what a true Pay to Win game is like other than me. Guild Wars 2 is far from that level of obscenity. Refresh my memory, but haven’t people spent somewhere around 5,000 dollars for full Rank 9 Second Recast +12 Armor in Perfect World International? Not counting those insane enough to re-roll the stats on their Armor…
While I agree it’s far from that, it doesn’t mean GW2 isn’t pay to win either. I mean, if I use an analogy, say I’m driving my car 5mph (or kmph, take your pick) over the speed limit and someone else is driving 100mph over the speed limit, the difference in degree of speed doesn’t mean I’m not speeding, both of us are going to get a ticket.
My main is a Sylvari and you are racist!!!!!!!!! :P :P
Yup, when a RACE of tree people try to kill pretty well every other RACE, I don’t see any problem with disliking that RACE. :P :P :P
Isn’t that what the humans originally did when they first set foot in the game world
shhh, it’s late here and I’m sleepy I didn’t edit it out :P
I play in windowed mode and generally have something half screened (forums, gw2spidy, etc) it’s just something I see all the time with the forum.
it’s actually an easy fix (it’s caused because the footer elements having defined widths in pixels but the rest of the layout not having that, either the container id needs 960px width applied to it or the px widths of the footer need to be redefined as em or % so the layout is relative)
Technically, as of ascended armor and weapons (and to an extent the agony infusion overhaul), yes. With the lack of viable (rng drops at an extremely low level aren’t viable) alternatives, the required gold investment into crafting (with the majority of crafted items being worth less than the mats) to get them, an amount of gold that seems to be more than the average player reasonably has on hand being able to bypass it with real world $$$ places this game under pay to win, even if only by a little bit. If the path to ascended didn’t require such a large amount of gold I would disagree with the P2W claim but the path to ascended does require a large amount of gold and there isn’t viable alternatives (like with exotics that had dungeon tokens, badges of honor and really weren’t that expensive)
I mostly agree apart from the default background (behind the image) being #898989
I say this because I can make it bug out by half screening (win 7, dunno about xp, drag browser to right side of screen so it auto fills only the right hand side of the screen…now scroll across) it happens in all browsers, someone didn’t test (granted as someone who does web development for a living and has been doing responsive css for the better part of a year I might be a bit more critical than most)
At least with Tengu, I can see some individual style choices in character creation for the face and feather (hair) styles and colors, although remodelling the existing armor sets would be even more of a nightmare.
Not really body wise they are basically differently proportioned Charr, They have the same posture, it’s just the thickness of the limbs and torso are thinner. It’d be about the same as human to sylvari or norn (who all use the same armor meshes just stretched to different proportions). If Tengu are made playable they’ll use end up with Charr armor meshes.
okay off topic :
i always wonder why would anyone really bother to make +10AR infusion considering the price, since +5 on each ascended gear (accessories, armor, weapon) can already give you total at least 80AR and the highest fractal agony rating at the moment is 50 i believe….
on topic :
yeah the extractor price is very expensive in terms of gold conversion…..
highest current fractal lvl is 50, you need 70 agony resistance to make that 1% damage. The devs already spilled the beans of the level going higher though, they talked about fractal skin chests before the LS dropping in higher lvls only to later say they aren’t in the current levels, implying a raise in fractal level coming.
To be honest, I’d prefer it if the devs instead looked at making the existing weapons more balanced so players don’t just gravitate to one or two sets of “must-have” weapons. Every single profession has one or two weapons (sometimes more) that never see the light of day because their skills are just woefully underpowered compared to other weapons.
Agreed, I know they’ll come back with “but this weapon is for this niche” type of argument…that’s great and all but no one is playing that niche because it’s not effective. As soon as there are clear meta builds (ie pve warrior greatsword/axe/mace) the balance is failed.
Different weapons should offer different play styles, not varying levels of effectiveness like they currently do.

I thought the stat progression was stopping at ascended?
I doubt it’ll ever stop, I mean there’s a quote from Colin floating around that level 80 probably isn’t going to be max level forever either which means all the grind for BiS currently will be for nothing.
I think if people find it annoying they should use the slider and turn it off…I mean that’s what the slider is there for.
[quote=3391597;Nina.4317:]
cry about the armor choices now available
Yes, you can do toypocalypse, bell chor and snowball mayhem multiple times to also get the 20/20 for the meta
with the price of the precursors as they are and the price of t6 mats you’re generally better of gold wise to sell the precursor than craft it. Take Eternity for example, given you need to apply twice the effort to make it that any other legendary you’d thing you’d make a significant profit right?
Nope. You’ll make quite a bit less than just sellf twillight and dawn seperately. Same is generally true when looking at the matt cost of the legendaries vs the selling price.
This was a rendering from before it was out so not sure it’s 100% possible but you can’t say it doesn’t look awesome
Necro just isnt that fun for me anymore. Have been switching between my alts pretty evenly. Only my necro and thief get neglected. Next class to lvl will be engi and i expect I will play that more than necro aswell. If necro recieved a cleave weapon I would probably instantly find the class fun again.
I have to agree with you on this, Necro and Thief…the only two classes I neglect (ie aren’t at lvl 80) and it’s largely because the play styles are so restrictive to such a very narrow set of option compared with other classes. I compare them with Warrior (which I play mostly these days) and while admittedly there’s a very promoted build with them, there are others you can step outside it and not be completely useless.
I kind of want to see necro with a shield.
Horned helmets aren’t really an “ancient Nordic Viking type” thing, there’s no evidence that viking helmets ever had horns.
I have an app on my android GW2 Event Timer which tells me what state world boss events are at and I just port over whenever they are starting.
TP flipping is the fastest way
having said that, those estimated costs are if you do it the fastest way. If you go to
you can see what is currently crafts at a profit
I have a Cyborg MMO mouse
http://www.cyborggaming.com/prod/mmo.htm
the joystick is a little wonky when going down (it’s low down so if you have a big thumb it’s likely already touching the bottom of the side tray) but other than that it’s fine. I prefer it over the naga because the buttons are spread out more and you can’t really misclick something due to all the buttons being in the same location.
When in pretty much every other MMO that makes extensive use of a cash shop you can buy a DLC for $10 with a lot of content compared with GW2 were $10 will net you a single use skin for $10, it’s fairly in line with their pricing model.
