And I didn’t have much fun. How gear dependent is the PvP in this game, because I literally just melted while doing barely any damage to the enemy. Very lame, because I expected something better than World of Warcraft PvP.
So you have 20 minutes experience in PvP, you know only 1 class , maybe not even all skills , you got no clue what enemy clas can do , you had 20 minutes farming gear , and you espect to win against full geared players ,maybe with 2000+ hours experience

And even more lool 20/30/0/0/20 on an guardian, 13000 hp much and 2400 p defence ? let me explain you that decent guardians got 3000+ defence and over 16500 hp + 1000 hp heals /dodge… protection/ retailation almost non stop.

Free transfers are only a conveniently timed excuse used by SFR for why they dropped from the top. Maybe it was getting too much anyway. They would have eventually burnt out or egos imploded like BT before. Exactly how many pugs moved to SFR? I’d be willing to bet not as many as they cry out to be. It was the exit strategy that those bandwagon guilds wanted.
If Desolation had free transfers, they would have cooperated with more players and become a stronger server, instead of their WvW guilds deserting. Desolation plays for fun and hasn’t burnt out because it was never a bandwagon server pushing for #1, even if guilds moved there at different times.
You can roll 6-6 on dice 100 times after the match is over

You can even win against Blacktide now, or you can claim that Deso is above blacktide but on podium there is no room for Desolation yet.
i have lower p attack /critical power then you and i often crit for 7-8 k
My lethal blows usualy come when enemy is arround 40-50% hp i stack x10 might from shadow refuge and i refill initiative -then the backstab makes them cry
And to detail it : unde 50% hp /over 6 initiative / 10 stacks of might = 20% +10% + arround 12% – is an 42 % damage diference.
Anyway , why you stack so much hp … is way too much

PukknubSFR won t1 more than once before the mass transfer from piken. I.E without “loads of bandwagonned guilds”.
Some of those wins were thanks to temporary night-capping PRX transfer.
What’s your point? We lost a few guilds since start, we gained a few new.
Deso were in t5 or something before RUIN decided to transfer there.SFR couldn’t win without PRX back then, and couldn’t win without bandwagon guilds now. Your server is the type to collapse if you don’t have a chance of winning.
RUIN is insignificant history – Deso climbed back to T1 without them and have stayed here consistently.
SFR went on tier 1 without PRX.
SFR lost 2 weeks ago old guilds , that were there from day 1, cause free transfers queue.
Deso was betwen tier 2 and 3 before kazz legacy (BULL ) and other non-bandwagon guilds joined them. I even remember when SFR won Desolation on tier 3 or 4 ? how can an desolation player call any other server Bandwagon ?

i never had problems to join fractals with my thief. My lvl is 22 , i stoped at 20 but i did one 38 and 1 42, just to check out how it is.
I got over 600 fractals ,most of them lvl 10 and 20 for daily’s but only 2 times i had party members that , were not confortable with 3 thieves in party. After we done swap fractal in 4-5 minutes and “volcano” in under 15 minutes, 1 warrior that got downed 3 times at volcano boss, apologised for his comments regarding thieves.
i use it on jumping puzzle vs campers, i stealth and pull them before they knockback/fear me
outside JP i find it uselss, skill is easy to dodge /block, and it won’;t pull more then 600 range:)

SO! Looks like just about 15000 vitality, and 2600 armor. At least it sounds consistant based on what I hear you guys said in this thread, I tried to add in everyone’s input with my own little flair!
I am not sure where the hell 57% crit is coming from, I have most of the equipment minus the trinkets and I am currently at 27%… if that is the case I actually can scale back on the zerker jewels and stick in some valkyrie or knight’s jewels instead!

At the moment i use an very defensive build -17000 hp /2700 armor / 400 healing power, since i run a lot in zerg vs zerg.
At 2700 armor/17000 hp i can run in line with warriors and guardians betwen 60-70 enemy’s. However with this investment in defence my burst is mediocre.
Also an personal opinion is thoug > Vit , specialy if you got sword main hand or remove condition in stealth
last time i played rangers they had acces to sword/greatsword/ axe
traps that hit stealthed enemy’s , pets with fear that can kick thieves out of shadow refuge, channeling skills that hit stealthed units, some daze /knockback skills

Cause as far as i see your point is very invalid. warriors got rifles, guardians got wall of reflection, i try to kill shot an guardian and i kill myself, brb i go ask for nerf

AOE -area of effect -shortbow -works good with direct damage or condition damage
1 vs 1:
direct damage builds :
D/P – strong against any psihical damage builds, fails badly against conditions, since you must add initiative regeneration on your defensive traits
D/D – glas cannon- high burst , good mobility, easy countered by CC
S/D -tanky build – maybe the best weapon for 1 vs 1, good mobility, good condition removal , CC, mediocre/low burst, stealth based build, require a lot of experience and patience
D/D – condition /evasive build -rely on 1 single skill , good for duels , weak against 2-3 oponents
P/D -condition build – good against classes with poor condition removal. High survaivability, can handle 1 vs 2 – 1 vs 3, many might find you borring and just walk away, you lack damage/mobility to chase/kill.
I would say that at this moment Sword/dagger is best for duels 1vs 1 , 1 vs 2. Against skilled players, against newbies anything works
mobile strikes – remove chill /cripple /imobilize
healing sourge -cast time 1/2 seconds
XII in discipline -bursts skills are improved : eviscerate leap -500 range/kill shot -2000 range/arcing slice -add 5 stacks of might, i don’t really used the other burst skils :P
psihical training – psihical skills cast 50% faster
rush (GS)- cast time 1.5 seconds -2 is way too much
shake it off : cure up to 3 conditions ,based on adrenaline lvl , and 1 from ally’s

All those would bring warrior on top, few of them would make it viable
Was chatting with a few people in game. I’m still pretty new, and trying to get a handle on the game. All 3 of them however had just rolled Warrior, because apparently “if you want to PvE, you need to be a warrior”.

what you do try to suggest " increase AOE limit " do not promote skill /tactics at all , only skill spam.
70 ppls attack hills
30 ppls defend hills, by spamming aoe at lord room entrance, (20 are staff elementalists and will do 1500 aoe /25 targets) they sit behind wall so you cannot target them , you cannot spam aoe unless you enter on the range. You enter on range you take 40k damage instant , cause they are pro. the other 10 are hammer warriors who will stun your entire 70 ppls zerg for 2.3 seconds each. cool

Omnomberry is still viable, if you make calculation over 30 seconds, you can heal 325x 15 = 4800 hp over 30 seconds.
mango pie can also provide you 70 hp /second – 2100 hp every 30 seconds.
signet of malice is very strong if you go on zerg vs zerg, considering that dagger storm attack 5 x targets with 2 diferent attacks will be 10 attacks /sec x 120 hp
watter field ( stolen from ranger ) combined with cluster will also provide 1500 aoe heal.
If you know for a fact that these 2 or 3 enemies are gonna’ catch up to you, and you have a couple seconds to prepare, what are you gonna’ do? What’s the most viable build I can use to achieve this? Obviously, for balance purposes these 2 or 3 are mostly lowbies with only 1 actual level 80, and that guy’s that’s not even really well geared or is a bunker.
I have all possible weapons as well as 6 Ascended pieces and full Divinity Runes on my optimized Berserker and Knight mixed armor.
What’s the best set up and mix of damage and survivability would YOU use/utilize when faced with a situation like this?
if you got sword /warhorn -greatsword, 1 stability utility ,they are not going to catch you.
but to answer your question, i would like to have greatsword // axe/shield. (utility’s healing sourge /bull charge /balanced stance/signet of stamina /SOR.
whirlwind betwen them, switch to axe /sheild, use shield 5 and move near an lowbie , axe 2 -3 -shield -4 -1-1 -eviscerate /activate balanced stance -stomp, switch weapon rush in oposite direction , whirlwind, reset combat, come back for the next 1.
Bull charge is great for initiate, and escape same time.
Signet of stamina -50% endurance regen and can cure cripple /chill etc…
balanced stance – imune to CC
an mobile build is the best for roaming, 0/20/30/0/20 with forcefull greatsword , mobile strikes.
IMO Confusion needs to be buffed, it can possibly do nothing if the enemy stops attacking and runs/dodges away.

There’s Shadowed Protector. It’s an adept trait in Shadow Arts that grants Regen to any ally you stealth, yourself included. If you’ve got anything with a rapid attack rate, you could give Signet of Malice a shot.
I only have 10 in the SA tree.. and that slot is taken by the condi removal..

I play an Engineer, that’s probably why. That profession is like playing the piano half the time and lacks a starter’s build. I suggested a lot more good then bad in the OP. I know there are skilled thieves out there that don’t spam HS, HS, HS, but I want HS to be good, but not something that is used consecutively. Maybe make it so it hit’s a little harder, but it costs more initiative. Just something so that it isn’t spammed. Spamming one key over and over is not skill, it’s cheese.
and from all the classes, thieves is the only1 who cannot spam skills.

I’d just be happy if it didn’t randomly throw you into the worst place possible when you’re using it after a knockdown. If you’ve got the skill slotted and are using it in the right situation then it should work well.
you try to run from 3 guys, you get stunned, (your stun breker is RFI), you are dead for sure.
Shadowstep will blink you 900 range away and has an better cooldown.
It is only viable in 1 vs 1 duel
1.get an gamming mouse, an good pc, without those you cannot be good
2.train in heart of mists, try the combos
3. make all profesions lvl 2 and try every single weapon set in heart of mists, you will learn to counter them , and wich skills to dodge.
4. remember , those movies are always made against below average players, with high ping that cannot react , against good players they will lose even 1 vs 2.
Death blossom – evasion duration increased to 1/2 second
dancing dagger – 25% chance -remove an boon
double strike -increase damage skill coeficient with 50%
stolen skills : – from elementalist – increase casting range to 500
– from guardian – increase casting range to 220
remove stolen skills when you enter/exit water
whitdraw + move forward – dodge forward
needle trap – change damage for 5 seconds of burning
Roll for initiative – add 3 seconds of stability
blinding powder – add stun breaker
P.S. after rolling a Thief I can say even more emphasis that Heat Seeker needs a nerf. There is absolutely no reason that any profession can have this heavy hitting skill with this small of cost. Spam, Spam, Spam is not skillful.
My suggestions:
-Make it cost more (5 initiative) or
-Shorten it’s range (or remove the leap)
-Reduce it’s effectiveness if used consecutively.Other than that I have immense respect for the people that play this profession!
The side effect of removing the mobility from dagger is :
against mesmer : he blink 1200 range away with weapon skill (staff -8 seconds cooldown)
against elementalist – he run 1200 range away with weapon skill (air 4)
against warrior – he run 2000 +range away with weapon skill – rush +whirlwind -savage leap
against ranger : greatsword 1100 range leap
guardian -greatsword leap + knockbacks /knockdowns.
*Thief : 4 x leaps at 450 range -1800 range(Cast time 3/4 seconds x 4) = 3 seconds.
With your Ideea thief 2 x 450 range leaps = 900 range.
Taking mobility or stealth away from thief is like taking clones from mesmer , or50% hp from warrior .
Yes thieves got also utility’s for mobility but so do other classes got : bull charge / mist form /blink /judge intervention … etc

P.S. : Damage from heartseeker was already nerfed twice, and does horible damage on targets with > 50% hp
on 0/30/30/10 build , i got no real problem vs them.
when they drop turrets (Elite ) i use blinding powder, change to shortbow and destroy turrents. i also use CnD + shortbow (surprise shot ) / cluster/ disable shot / hide in shadows /surpirse shot.
They are very vulnerable against imobilize and dagger storm, how every you must watch for conditions on you , before you use dagger storm.
A way to fix the cheesing? ICD on individual stealth abilities.
Hear me out. The issue with cheezing thieves in WvW is spamming CnD back to back. But how about a way that doesnt effect all aspects of thief players, just WvW cheezing?
Lets take CnD for example. Give it an internal cooldown of say, 4-5 seconds before you can use that specific ability to go into stealth again. Now you have to utilize more than one skill for keeping your stealth up.
This forces you to use something else, blinding powder, BP + HS, SR, etc. Put an internal cooldown on each of these abilities (to stop a group of thieves grouping together and cheezing, but maybe not as neccassary).
This wont hurt those who dont cheese, and allow them to continue doing what they do in each part of the game they like PvE/PvP. I think it would be a good solution to stop the chain CnD’s, while still letting thieves that play it more offensively and being able to use stealth skills/utilities as they see fit.
The ICD on CnD is definitely neccessary. But I’m not sure how well it would work on the other utilities (Blinding Powder for example) if someone where to do it near you. Maybe those wouldnt be as neccessary if at all needed. However, I think it would be a better alternative than +1 second to revealed, or 3 seconds of revealed no matter what. As once all of your stealth skills are blown, all you will have is CnD if you run X/D.
why you want to bash the thieves again ? isn’t 4 seconds revealed after an backstab enough ?

Game designers should get through their thick skulls: Powerful game mechanisms, like stealth, should always either have a hard counter or be made extremely scarce. Stealth is implemented badly in this game.

infiltration runes are not the best for warrior
condition damage as 101 is useless, sword and rifle benefit from condition damage the most, but 101 is too low value, if you want to go for condition damage (bleeds)
also healing power will only help you if you use shout builds or banner regeneration
but since i see you got 30 points in discipline and 30 in strenght your healing power is also useless
there is a lot to discuss here however :
if you want survaivability try to add 30 points in defence or tactics, use shout build /banner regeneration.
Power/thog/vit armors or knight , or combine those 2
it all depends on what you aim for, an berseker -Dps char, support , tanky CC or an mix

I’ve also did fractals untill lvl 38, and i can tell you conditions are not an issue specialy when you walk in an group with elementalist /guardian.
my only problems with condition is when i face necromancers that got high condition duration / damage and confusion in zerg vs zerg.
and with melandru /lemongras you won’t clean confusion fast enough
