  • Fourth, please get back to the point of boon sharing. Alacrity and quickness are fine, but one is not a boon, and its not exactly boon sharing if its only 1 boon. I realise that sharing quickness and giving alacrity is very important, but can we see how well mesmers can share the other 10 boon they have access to. For instance, the mesmer can uniquely share 2min of regeneration because the base duration of BD for distortion is quite high.

On this topic:

The build I was using was NOT a boonsharing build. I took BD, and had an incredibly high rate of shattering, and this manifested itself in happening to produce a rather significant amount of might (10ish stacks), and vigor (close to 70% when considering the pulses from the heal well on a 12s cooldown). This, however, was not the intended purpose of the build, just something I noticed happening.

The purpose of the build is to produce tremendous uptime of alacrity and quickness on your entire party. When I first started using it, I assumed it would fit into a team composition containing a PSEA warrior for might, and other assorted sources of fury. Producing this quickness and alacrity is something unique to chronomancer; no other class or build can do this, even in a remotely similar fashion.

Now, as it so happens, the 10ish stacks of might produced open up the possibility that a PSEA warrior might not be necessary, considering the amount of boons that revenant is able to produce.

All that being said

The particular chronomancer build I was using has absolutely zero bearing on the topic of this thread, namely the fact that revenant is actually better at providing massive boon support to a party (quickness and alacrity notwithstanding) than a dedicated mesmer boonshare build, while producing top tier dps at the same time. An additional point mentioned was the passive permanent upkeep of swiftness due to simply activating a utility contrasted with the given reasoning for nerfing the swiftness from SoI. These points all remain valid and rather puzzling for the most part, until you consider the additional information of which devs designed the classes, and which classes seem to have been designed with anything remotely approaching balance in mind.

I would just like to say, a full party of guardians has permanent quickness…

Is there any use for Shield? I find it’s so niche that it’s basically never used. The only time I might use Shield is if I’m headless chickening vs Lupi as a Warrior, but even then a Warhorn is better.

Well… in PvP there is!

Perhaps new content in HoT will be designed so you can no longer ignore your own survivability, in which case shields may make a comeback.

But I doubt it.

Most “challenginng PvE content” involves unblockable things that kill anything that isn’t mid-roll (or out of the AoE).

So yeah, I doubt it. (And warriors use shield in pvp?)

So, I want to comment. I would like to say that PU is completely balanced as long as you always break your portals making you roughly the same effectiveness as a thief :p. I would also like to say that PU condi is not viable for Spvp atm because PU Zerker should never die except to full team focus including large amounts of conditions…. because vamp rune s + stealth.

Problem is they can not wear shoulders at that level, so they lose on some defence.

Shoulders should be available from level1.

Yes you can. A level 1 can go into W2W and buy a full set of all six armor pieces from the karma vendor there and use them anywhere in game. I’ve been doing it on my new toons for years.

spvp only counts shirt, pants and boots so shoulders don’t matter.

I have no problem with pve lowbies but I’m just a bit curious about the Lvl 1 that end up in my team when solo queuing ranked.

They get flamed and insulted by pugs for being a noob lowbie but what fascinates me about them is that they know map rotations, small and large scale combat. Often, they carry the same people that insulted them for being a noob.

I’ve never fought along a Lvl 1 who didn’t know what to do. Is it safe to assume that Lvl 1 characters are veteran pvpers? The lowest lvl character I could pvp with is lvl 2.

I make lvl 1 characters to troll people or play them on my EU account because its only for spvp.

Unreasonable Ping

My internet is fine, I am getting much better internet than normal and I used to have 80 ping so this is a problem with something ANet has done or something to do with their servers, or is resulting of some other problem like ANet’s routers or ISP dropping packets. I and several other people I have talked to have started getting worse and worse ping inside of WvW and SPvP. At this point the game has become unplayable with constant 500 ping all night. If anyone has a solution that is on my side i’m open to it but my internet connection is running perfectly so unless its a Guild Wars Client option or some new port that needs opened idk what it could be. The problem has started recently.

Necro, the weakest light armored class

Let’s see.

- No reflects/projectile mitigation, which both elementalists and mesmers have.

- No decent escapes for when you’re cornered/outmatched. Mesmers and elementalists have quite a few.

- No decent elites. Lich is a joke. Plague makes you harder to kill somewhat, but you’re also a bigger target. Flesh Golem doesn’t even attack half the time.

Admittedly, elementalist apparently also has weak elite skills as well, while mesmers stick to either Mass Invisibility or Moa Signet.

In addition to this, several other lingering problems like lack of reliable Stability and decent combo fields/finishers remain even now, leaving necromancers still subpar compared to the other two most of the time.

and yet, a good necro is strong both vs of these professions…

A good memser will destroy a powermancer of equal skill quickly in a 1v1, in a team fight being babysit a powermancer is incredibly survivable

A conditionmancer can be a major problem for a mesmer in a 1v1 but has most of its damage cleansed away in team fights and poses no threat to the mesmer there unless the mesmer has no shoutbow / d/d ele / other cleanse bot with them

Cele necros are vicious and can pose a problem for mesmers in a 1v1, but i believe they should lose the matchup most of the time.

thief is gonna do nothing, ele is gonna cap and outheal everything while thief needs to constantly disengage as soon as he gets hit by some random condispam

and war lol…let’s say that atm going 1v1 with a cele d/d while on war (Any spec) is the fastest way to suicide after jumping down on skyhammer since the only war spec that could fight a cele d/d ele was shoutbow and they nerfed it to the ground (While ele got even stronger after patch…ofc)

I know it sounds pretty reterded but this is exactly what they did

Shout bow was not nerfed to the ground, there is a very succesful shoutbow build using a settlers amulet.

Not even that, since a D/D ele can probably sustain 2 D/D eles for as long as he wants.

First completely untrue thing you have said so far, and even if it was true the point would remain in your favor so you won.

Short Answer is have your own D/D ele permanently stall the enemy ele while the point remains in your favor, or get a good cele necromancer to 1v1 the d/d ele.

Execution, if ANet bans everyone who every exploited this bug 90% of wvw players and hundreds of man hours would disappear which is why no one will be banned for it.

If they can’t play by the rules, then they don’t deserve to play period. The moment they decided to intentionally exploit the game for their own benefit whilst abusing other players in the process, they violated the Terms of Service in an appalling manner. I don’t see why they should be allowed to play anymore.

Keep in mind, players have been banned for lesser offenses…

Keep in mind lots of hackers on sbi and in general WvW go around unpunished. Your own server is populated by a significant number of hackers and I don’t see you advocating them being banned.
Notable common occurrences, SBI player has speed hacks, SBI player kills you w/o leaving damage in your damage log greater than 50% of your hp, SBI warrior ( still roams on sbi) uses elementalist skills and these are all pulled from the same day.

So yes, winning a 15v50 against HoD is just because maguumans have a double damage buff? Yeah I don’t think so. I have witness today blobs of 60+ HoD (50%golems) lose to 15 maguumans who had the buff, it just makes the odds closer.

Not fighting HoD this week.

The reason the characters on foot who are exploiting this bug are winning is because they are more mobile, have more attacks and do more damage than the golems. Although, despite the bulk of the Maguuma server cheating in WvW this week they are still in 3rd place (currently). SBI seems to be a bit more honorable with many fewer people exploiting.

Anet, end this event.

Sry it’s CD this week, a even more salty server, I apologize for being stuck with HoD for so long I will always think they are in the matchup, same with SBI. Btw you win because your population is 5x as high as maguumas, sbi even more so. Don’t pretend CD never got 15v50ed by maguumans before the buff and pls do not lie and say your server does not abuse it.

I doubt Anet would ban them but I can dream……. As soon as the exploit bug was noticed it should’ve been hotfixed or the event suspended but apparently Anet doesn’t care about massive exploiting. They haven’t even made a comment on it yet and the bug has been known for 3+ days.

I got a lot of faith back in Anet with the redesign of Lion’s Arch and the new trait changes but this event b.s. is two steps back for them. Don’t get me wrong, in WvW our server is still winning at this point despite a large percentage of our opponents running entire zergs with the exploit bug (mainly the cheaters, err players on Maguuma, to a lesser extent SBI).

I hope all these people I’m reporting get at least a week suspension. This is pretty much a WvW breaking bug that we’ve nothing from Anet about. I encourage everyone to keep reporting the exploiters.

Look at all these guys just chillin here peacefully dueling despite the exploit.. I thought the buff ruined WvW guys? btw this has beeen going on like this all day.
Could you guys be over reacting a bit?

I’ve seen screenshots of your guildies spawn camping others with the buff. So in a way you guys are ruining it for people that you kill that do not take part in exploiting the game.

So, don’t pretend you never had the buff on you. Don’t pretend that 7 people with the buff have an unfair advantage against zergs mad of golems with 100s of thousands of hp,
And last, make the fight “fair” and get the buff yourself or simply log off if you aren’t willing to get the buff in order to have a fair fight with others who have it.

so far inspiration is bugging me…currently the first trait menders purity is kinda buggy (if running mantra of recovery it will prock once without HM and only twice max with HM. HM=3mantra chargetrait)

the third minor trait is kinda meh (although it was op without the cd HAHA!) mainly because in terms of hps its crap. maybe reduce the cd to 5s? or increase the healing? or remove the trait and give us back the phantasms give us regen?…i dont know it just needs work.

lastly but most importantly 2 traits are in the wrong area in terms of diversity and balance.

currently you can grab restoration illusions and mental defence which is a questionable amount of passive sustain. in addition restorative illusions is kind of the most useful trait in the trait line so your not gonna grab the focus trait or the protected phantasms. which begs the question of why it was merged to be super effective with shattered conditions and then moved down a tier?

i think restorative illusions should be moved up a tier back to grandmaster and either temporal enchanter or illusionary inspiration should be moved down a tier. would be more balanced and open up more viable options.

currently in this new trait system and the new meta of things there are tons of buggs and balance issues such as trait placement and number scaling and polish…..so many issues

lockdown is nice though. dat free buffed confounding suggest is ermagawg…got a feeling thats gonna disappear soon….for some reason <__<

i know things are gonna be shuffled and re balanced by the time the expansion is released but i thought it worth mentioning these.

any issues buggs and annoyances on mesmer currently you guys want to share?

Mass invis with manipulation trait causes you to be revealed by flying projectiles extremely often
Duelist discipline does not trigger on duelist except at seemingly random times and over rides sharper images, Blinding Dissipation can not be evaded ( same with ranger trained pet taunt, Ranger pet blind un tested.
The 3rd minor chaos appears to have absolutely no affect.
These are just some examples: Guild Wars 2 now in pay to enter BETA!!!

Pretty sure restorative illusions only removes 1 condition per shatter now, not 1 per clone per shatter.

it removes 1 per clone + heals. ive tested it with a good condie friend of mine. also works with the base illusionary persona giving a max 4 condie removal per shatter…..

why is this master and not grandmaster?

I am told it sufferered a nerf to its healing with the patch and that the slight bug with it longer appears to occur.

Check my 2 build guides on into the mists for power builds, buy any of the rune sets listed for them and have fun, or I will come up with a working cele / condition build for / you if that’s what you would prefer. They are both under Spvp, for WvW get proportionally the same stats.

I was taking 4-4.5k shatter hits, something gonna get nerfed hard I suspect. Maybe that’s normal? I don’t know I havnt mesmered for like 2years.

It’s normal considering how much damage everyone is doing now.

12k backstabs on a 4 to 5s effective CD if landed…. shatter hits don’t seem that unbalanced to me.

But they’re Mesmers! They need to deal 1k with Shatters on pure glass cannon!

The only trait that is genuinely OP on mesmers right now is PU, but it’s MtD that gets nerfed lol.

I stealthed from the gate of foefire all the way to the point at mine. There was an ele at the point. I decided to simply stand there. Breathing down its neck. I then went for the burst and wiped out 75% of its HP with just mirror blade spike. Then I went back into stealth for about 15 seconds. The ele got bored of being there and left the point. When he did, I capped the point and he had to come back. I then got back into stealth, went mid and blew up some thief.

Long story short: You don’t.

Mesmer is completely broken now. There is absolutely 0 counterplay with blind on shatter going through evade, a guaranteed stun whenever you want to burst (which 100-0’s almost anything), PU making mesmers godmode, and a whole bunch of other things I can go on about. Pretty much this tells the story lol.

Rylock, you say this as one of the top mesmers looking down upon all those your fight in tpvp or randoms in wvw who are comparatively bad and have decided that there is no counterplay to mesmers because of your experience of wrecking everyone even harder than you did before.

PU shatter burst mesmers are very strong right now, so are CI interrupt mesmers.
Due to the nature of zerk PU shatter mesmer it is nearly impossible to fight if you have no invulnerabilities or burst damage, Its like fighting thieves, they now have high stealth uptime, extremely high burst, lots of immobilize, boon rip, an instant cc, and tons of blinds. At this point a good mesmer can likely beat anything other than a good mediguard / thief the majority of the time.

How to counter play PU shatter. Mesmers have to leave stealth sometime, they will become revealed when they burst from stealth, or leave stealth shortly before the brust to avoid revealed. Use earth attunement and stone heart to counter almost 50% of a mesmers burst damage by staying in earth attuenment, upon the mesmer beign revealed use skill and skill 2 in earth. then swap to air an updraft and proceed with ride the lightning and stun aura. Lightning rod is incredibly potent against mesmers because of their near utter lack of cleanse and landing the updraft and earthquake are very important. Then proceed to dps the mesmer until they stealth and hop back into earth attunement to await the mesmers next burst.

There is only one problem. While this is a great way to counter PU mes (I actually didn’t think of stone heart), what happens if you aren’t an ele or you don’t have stone heart on

Use stoneheart, because it counters anything that crits and this is a crit burst meta, if your not your running a build that is not viable in this temporary meta.
If you are a thief, wait in stealth too, its an whoever gets hit first instantly dies thing here. Bunker Shout cele hammer lb ( the build I would recommend using over shoutbow now) hit fear me. Watch your hp bar and as soon as it begins to go down hit that skill. you have 24k hp, and 2.7k toughness so the first hits will not down you.

I think the OP needs to go get a law degree before making claims like this. This would never go to court. Anet is offering refunds to people, and a FAQ for an unreleased game wouldn’t be considered advertising anyway.

Look at what happened to mcDonalds though. A consumer spilled their coffee on themselves and won a court case against McDonalds, anything can get into a court of law by that logic.

I’m not a lawyer, but I have experience with consumer law regardless, from the other end. So my experience may well be more than the OPs. Regardless, it’s not up to you to tell me what to do either way. I’m as entitled to post my opinions here as you are.

The entitlement meme will stop when people stop whining about how they are entitled to more than they are.

As a player, you are entitled to get exactly what you paid for. If you paid for the core game, you are entitled to the core game. If you paid for gems and bought things with those gems, you are entitled to the things that you bought with those gems. If you buy the HoT base kit at $50, you are entitled to the things listed in that base kit.

Nothing more.

If you are whining about how ANet has “betrayed” you or “owes” you anything, then that is entitlement, and if you don’t like being called out on that, then stop being that.

lol, so not being able to play the new proffesion offered by the expansion without paying extra is feeling entittlement? or complaining as a new player that bought the game on sale 3 weeks ago and is getting 3 or so months of gameplay for the price of the full game when they could get it free 3 months later is being “entitled”?

You seriously need to read the arguments first and learn common negotiation skills. You likely will not succeed in a negotiators role with the attitude you adopted and seriously need to read the opposing arguments before you respond to them.

Clarification: the only thing that was changed was that you can’t use “Spectral Walk” in air. You can still use “Spectral Recall” which is the skill that returns you to your original location. This means you can still use Spectral Walk, jump off a cliff and teleport back.
What you can’t do is jump off a cliff, double tap Spectral Walk (and then Spectral Recall) just before hitting the ground to nullify falling damage.

This makes perfect sense. It may be fun, but it is ultimately cheating the new maps if you pull this off. The air camp will have areas with buffs that prevent fall damage. There are no gliders in wvw. This skill as it was is an unprecedented unfair advantage in wvw. You are suppose to capture an objective that prevents all fall damage. There are areas of the map that you will die if you fall even if you have a 50% reduction.

I understand this trait was fun. I would go into skyhammer when I was bored and explore the area on the floor.

This trait is also cheating for the purposes of gliders. We have glider mastery but we can only open them in the air a certain number of times. In a large fall necros would have an unfair advantage over any other class. They would bug the glider so they can open it more times than they should be able to.

No they wouldn’t because your glider resets the fall damage speed quickly enough that even without more mastery points you will be able to rest your fall damage before hitting the ground when timed correctly.

You can break out of skyhammer on any class, it is the easiest map breakout in the game.

It also, will not allow you to use spectral walk if your on certain terrain just like the air immobilize bug that can occur when statically sitting upon certain slope angles, this will cause more problems for necromancers in pvp scenarios trying to use spectral walk in a way considered legitimate

K can you take away all the broken things mesmers do with portal now? It’s not fair to take away our only trick and not touch the most broken class.

Or just let us be immune to fall damage and let the mesmers break everything else.

The game survived this long with these things why change it now?

1st)
I agree that neither of these things should be touched. They were not game breaking, OP, or necessary to use.

2nd) Portal mesmers have huge counter play. They have to hide in a enemy objective for 5 minutes with extremely limited to invisibility on almost no mobility. There is absolutely no way this was OP. And in PvE who cares nothing in pve is competitive and dungeons speed runs are basically a series of exploits so portals are the least exploit like mechanic you will see in them.

Recently my Guild Wars 2 client has been crashing without listing errors or logging a crash report. Is this an error caused by the patch? I typically happens when in spvp matches or wvw. I have not noticed it in PvE content but it may just be that I have not done very much PvE.

I absolutely disagree with this suggestion. Do you know why engineers got the kit mechanic like this? Because they have no weapon switch. Elementalist dont have it too, but got the attunements instead. Elementalist already have 4 weapon skill sets as class mechanic, giving them more skills to use every time they want to would make them just totally OP.

Im pretty sure that was the other person’s goal….

LF: Really good thief, so can anyone multiclass and play a really good thief? Preferably D/P thief. Must be really good, otherwise it wouldn’t be a challenge and we won’t learn anything right?

Goal: Don’t you feel like the generic forum tips on how to fight thieves don’t work anymore on higher MMRs? I thought about setting up practice duels against really good thieves so that we can have an idea on how to fight back.

I felt like “yes they hard counter shatter mesmers, but I would rather put up a decent fight than accepting this as a reality”

Event After I get thieves to practice with us, then I will schedule days on when it will be held!

I can try and contact a really good thief I know but he has been on hiatus.
( I mean like rylock lvl. except for d/p + p/d thief ).

Anyways if this is for after the patch i’m all for it until then ill be theory crafting XD

Nice, I mean even if this was before patch, it would’t really any different than after patch, I am guessing it would be the same rotations, etc but with more traits. So knowing when, what to dodge and do will still be a good thing to know.

If you wan’t to know what to dodge I can tell you pretty fast, how to dodge it maybe not as quickly lol…

Mistrust is the new condi-lockdown trait on the block, and boy is it exciting! It currently inflicts AoE 2x confusion on interrupt and if it doesn’t recieve an ICD then it should be a fantastic new addition. On it’s own, 2x confusion doesn’t seem so great, but keep in mind that you AND your illusions inflict 1x confusion on crit (which makes Scepter’s Confuse Ray look extra lucrative) Combine this with Perplexity Runes (5x Confusion on interrupt, 3x confusion when hit) and there is potential for Mesmers to be master of confusion yet again!
While we’re at the subject, in this build each interrupt will cause 3s Immob/2s Blind,Cripple,orChill/3-8x Confusion/25% Pistol reduction


CHRONOMANCER – DOM/CHAOS/CHRONO: Intertial Exchange (Personal Fav)

- Confounding Suggestions, Furious Interruption, Power Block
- Master of Manipulation, Chaotic Dampening, Chaotic Interruption
- Delayed Reactions, Illusionary Reversion, Seize The Moment

Really looking forward to this one. Shattered Concentration is an excellent and almost-mandatory trait, but I could NOT pass up the chance to inflict Slow AND gain quickness on interrupt.. It’s as if we’re literally stealing their speed! The problem here is that this build lacks DE and could potentially fall into the pit of being too single target-focused, but landing even a single interrupt in this build yields fantastic bonuses. Despite marking Chaotic Dampening, I’m thinking Greatsword/Sword-Shield may actually be best here if not Staff/GS.


Whether interrupt or chain-stun focused, we’ve got some excellent options coming to us next week. What will you be working on playing?

For paranoia I highly recommend staff + s/p and the trait VI (staff protection trait) over V (condition damage from toughness conversion)

First attempt at what my EchoRupt build “may” look like. Its no longer just a “Mantra Lockdown”, but a “Mantra-Phantasm-Lockdown” build.
