Some of you have been playing since launch or even before, if you took part in the beta. Since this forum has a mind-boggling amount of negativity rushing into it every waking hour, I thought I’d ask for some positive experiences.

What one moment or event, in GW2, has been the most memorable and enjoyable for you? Who was there? What did everyone do to make it great and why did you love it?

Another question:

What was one time in-game that someone helped you out and made an impression? Who was it and what did they do?

Looking forward to hearing some good from people. I’ll type something up myself after I come home tonight. I’ll have to think about it while I’m out.

Medieval battles had more strategy than WvW.

Sil.4560

They could just do both, right now most hammers are fairly realistically proportioned, excepting a few with short handles or a slightly oversized head, but none are really really exaggerated to the point you find other weapons.

I’m thinking most of the obviously metallic weapons are actually way too large if you’re talking realism. Even the default white hammer has a head at least as big as my character’s head. That’d weigh like 30lbs…

I didn’t wish to upset you Sil, and I absolutely respect your opinion, however, to use realism as a basis for your argument, in the context of a fantasy game is absurd.

As for making a legendary pole-hammer, well yes with the right effects it could be nice, but in terms of hammer’s its become apparent that realism is just a byword for minimalism. Take the pole-hammer example you gave us. It doesn’t get much simpler than that. Very small, very basic. How do you add ( and what do you add) effects to something that is designed to be so simplistic.

Good thing I wasn’t making an argument and was simply giving an opinion on something totally aesthetic (read: subjective). Gonna have to agree with “chill out”. I wasn’t making an argument. This entire thread comes down to personal opinion.

What the, accurate portrayal of historical weapons fanatics among you seem to be forgetting is, this is a fantasy game, and those hammer’s you linked, no matter how real, look like kitten.

For you to come to this thread and and claim hammer’s are too unrealistic (in terms of size) already and that we need make them smaller is outrageous, considering 95% of weapons in GW2 and nearly every other sword and shield MMO decide not to adhere to the principals of realism.

If you do insist on being ridiculous, feel free to post a sketch of your pole-hammer version of the legendary, and perhaps your pole-hammer version of the zenith weapons. It’ll look like kitten, but realism in MMO’s is very important. I do think however we are going to need a complete weapons and armor overhaul, and dragons? C’mon.

Wow, get a little more hostile over nothing, why don’t you? Whooo-kay.

I personally find more realistic looking hammers to be more pleasing to the eye. That’s an opinion. I guess I haven’t played enough Whack-a-Dredge to share your aesthetic taste. Sue me. As far as legendaries go? You could make a very kitten looking polehammer while keeping it small, if you use the right effects on it. Not everything has to look like this, but I wouldn’t mind seeing one or two available.

Anyway, I don’t need to be insulted over the internet by some guy who gets bent out of shape because someone prefers a different style of hammer weapon. Have fun.

I’m willing to bet there are multiple players who have actually supported GW2 more through the gem store than a number of GW1 players combined. People talking about supporting the original are really just fishing to rationalize getting rewarded again in any way they can.

While I suspect you didn’t understand the nature of my post, I’ll entertain you with a response anyway.

I’m in-game right now. Have been for a couple of hours now. I’m enjoying it. Two monitors = double the fun. My point, however, is that I’m more than capable of thinking of my enjoyment of GW2 as its own reward along with the things I actually do achieve and obtain in the game itself. I don’t need to be rewarded again for it later.

I play a lot of both PvE and WvW, but honestly the thing that keeps me from going hardcore into WvW is the zerg mentality that servers have in general. I love running with organized and small groups. The level of strategy and particular type of group coordination there is something you don’t find in either PvE or PvP.

But when you roll up against a server with a 50-man zerg and it just destroys your framerate and skill lag runs rampant, that isn’t fun. It’s also not strategical in the slightest. Once Anet goes forward with the anti-zerg ideas I think they’ve mentioned in the past, I’m sure I’ll be even more interested.

Why do you need a reward for playing GW1? You got your reward from thoroughly enjoying and acquiring an apparently large pile of stuff in that game. Shame yourself for not being able to appreciate GW1 and the time you enjoyed there as its own reward.

If GW3 makes an appearance someday, I don’t expect to be rewarded for what I’ve already done in this game, because I am enjoying GW2 on its own merits and that is my real reward.

I’m actually glad that there was a thread made about this because now I can see that I’m not the only one thinking this is really odd. When I saw what had happened, I couldn’t believe it either.

It’s all well and good to get some kind of praise from Anet for playing the hell out of their first game. As far as I’m concerned, that’s what the exclusive skins and titles they already had were for. But now they’re getting more boosts towards other rewards. Where does it stop?

I didn’t bother digging through this entire thread because I’m sure there are a lot of repeat posts and repeat counterposts. Anyway, to throw my opinion on one side of the pile, I don’t think it’s necessary to continue rewarding GW1 players. Good for them, for their accomplishments. Their primary reward for that is what they achieved in GW1 for their effort. This is GW2. To put it simply, when I think of achievements in this game, I want to know what a player has achieved in this game.

Making all Gap Closers like Savage Leap

in Warrior

Posted by: Sil.4560

Sil.4560

Hell even Savage Leap could use some work. It covers some distance, sure, but it’s in almost the same boat as Rush when it comes to how it actually functions in terms of getting weird on different elevations and changing direction to follow a target. For masters of weapons and martial combat, we sure have some clumsy and highly telegraphed skills.

I wouldn’t mind seeing skills that close gaps like that gain a moment of Stability or evade and share Savage Leap’s disregard for movement conditions though. Or just…

Use OP’s idea for Shield Bash, make Earthshaker give temp immunity to blind, just please FIX how Rush moves, and make Rush/Whirlwind Attack ignore movement conditions like respectable motion skills. Also things like Eviscerate…

How is warrior's survivability in general.

in Warrior

Sil.4560

It has the least survivability of any class in the game.

Hope that answers your question.

Hopefully it doesn’t, because that’s far from true.

That’s why the good spvp players unanimously agree survivability is the warrior’s #1 crippling issue at this point, right?

Name one class that has less survivability than the warrior while still being efficient in combat.

(Hint: Full PVT shout-heal build is not a correct counterpoint)

Oh, actually, I read your original post wrong I think. XD

I read “at least the survivability” rather than “the least”. In the case of what you actually wrote, I definitely agree with you!

Is there any reason gravity doesn’t work properly when I’m trying to use it down an incline? I am, of course, talking about trying to Earthshaker down a set of stairs or the like in WvW and having it impact the air above my enemies, never dealing any of the attack to the targets below. There is so much terrain that isn’t level in WvW and I’m running into this problem more and more when trying to CC a group of people. As much as I’d love to fly, it’s not helping. >_<

More than half of a year, still no Balance

Sil.4560

The biggest problem with warriors, is not the class itself but the players on it.. they wanna be DPS beast like they are on PvE, expecting to go glass cannon and own. players just need to learn to spec better, warriors now have good condi clears, and easy acess to stability and CC, which is a direct counter to most meta builds. but people rather not spend those 20 points on Defense and then come on forums and QQ about how much warriors suck on PvP

How long did it take you to come up with that fallacy?

What kills me is how they’re apparently so terrified of giving warrior any meaningful buffs, as if it’s something that can never be reversed. They sit and they say, “Warrior will be OP!” Meanwhile, they just admitted that they’ve made necros OP with the last patch, and already have plans on fixing it. So why can’t they take a risk with warrior? So what if it’s OP for a couple of weeks – apparently that’s already okay for every other class.

Achievements treadmill

Essentially it means that if someone decides to take a break from the game for a couple of months he/she might be looking for hundreds of missing points after returning. A treadmill no matter how you look at it.

This is exactly my problem with the temporary content and how it works with AP. And it’s hilariously absurd to use this strategy…we don’t pay a monthly fee, why pressure people like that?

Axe chain nerf

in Warrior

Sil.4560

And in the case with any competent enemy in a competitive scenario, you have a DPS loss because landing the entirety of an axe chain on a moving opponent is a stupidly hard feat for what it has to offer. We need some sort of trait that increases melee range or reduces movement speed for enemies within X range around us.

Thieves are ridiculous in WvW. The amount of escape they have via invisibility is just broken. It’s one thing to be able to flee a fight, but it’s another entirely to be a class that entire groups just go, “Oh, don’t bother, it’s a thief.” Stealth needs some sort of more solid counter for multiple classes to be able to track it or something.

You can try to burst them, but most will just lolshadowstep and stealth every single time they kitten up.
