Never let it be said that Arena Net doesn’t listen.
Remember when you guys said you wanted a condition spec for guardian that used more than just burning.
Your welcome, you got it.
Wait..
So..OP is mad that people that had a discountinued version of the game had to be compensated because anet switched the type of accounts they had?
You realize how petty this sounds?
It was a bug, anet fixed it, end of story.
Life isn’t fair, nor will it ever be.
Secondly, not every beta tester got a heroic chest, only people that had old, discontinued versions of the game.
Grow the kitten up
. There are a couple niggles I just don’t agree with, but for the most part I think it’s a solid opinion video.
I read that wrong the first time and did a double take.
I don’t get Anet’s decision to avoid a new race at all.
I mean, end game is mostly about cosmetics. Heck, most of their revenue is from selling skins/outfits in the Gem Store. Adding a new race would open up a whole new line of cosmetics, and even veteran players are gonna invest time (and money) on giving them the looks they want.
Because there isn’t any special gem store item for races.
The cosmetic arguement is moot, because people will still buy cosmetic items because they have an impulse to.
Wasting money, time, and resources to make another race, personal story, hub city, etc.
vs using that money to develop other area’s of the game, and a new class.
That’s the arguement.
A new race doesnt add anything new to the game but a few racial skills which will be overshadowed by the classes normal utilities, and a new racial outfit.
It’s like if someone gives you 10 dollars and says you can buy wheels for you bike so you can keep doing your paper route or you can go buy a baseball card.
Which one do you choose?
i would say go to bronze league but lately there has been only condi teefs and pu mesmers running around >_>
well at least specializations will kill off pu mes
It’s going to give us something much
MUCH
worse
So.
Me and my gf also play this game, I got a portal, she did not.
So, I do what any loving bf would do, I’m grinding the sw on her account to get the invite.
Even if she doesn’t get one, she will be over my shoulder watching and will probably kick me off my computer to play, or explore.
Get on your wifes account. Go grind SW if she doesnt have the time. OR
Be prepared to take turns to beta test.
This event was a really bad idea just had someone link in my map they have 2 portals, so Anet how do you expect to get the amount in if there are people getting more than one as a drop.
YEEAAA
I honestly just wanted the materials, now I feel like if I stay I’m ruining someone else’s luck
Choosing players for closed beta based on RNG? lol)
Over 10 hours in SW = 0 portals.
Anet-style, guys, yay \o/PS: A piece of advice to anet: always prefer experienced and loyal players to lucky noobs.
Rude.
Sorry that your luck wasn’t that great.
But a lot of vets also got the portal so…..
This was probably a move to get more people active momentarily.
I do appreciate the market fluctuation, makes buying materials right now fantastic
So. I just got mine maybe 30 minutes ago. And have been farming 14 hrs a day since this was announced.
Try boosting your magic find ( mine was around 530%)
Don’t give up, and tag as many mobs as you can ( I was on a necro with epidemic)
Good luck guys.
betakeys SW- dont forget about your other GM

So you want to beta new content, which is most likely PVE content but you don’t want to PVE to gain access to it?
I’ve played every game mode and PVP is the most toxic out of all of them..
Funny, I have had the opposite experience with PvE’ers who see you playing a necro or engi and insta kick you
..
To each there own i guess
New specializations locked behind gem store?
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Solori.6025
I think you’re wrong:
Elite Specialization Reward Tracks
Finally, these reward tracks unlock everything for an elite specialization: weapon, unique mechanics, skills, and traits. They’ll also reward items, including new runes and sigils, a fancy weapon skin for your new weapon type, and an armor skin for a single matching piece of armor (usually headgear or shoulders). As long as you’ve purchased Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, you’ll automatically unlock access to all elite specializations in PvP.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/specializations-part-two-reward-tracks-and-elite-specializations/
meaning, you have a reward track for that and if you have purchased HoT, you just get them unlocked right away.
Doesn’t it say that if you bought the expansion you unlock the elite specs in pvp. so you still have to buy the expack for the reward track
I don’t think so. HoT brings changes to the whole player base and one of those changes is that mentioned reward track. Now when you buy the expansion you just get them unlocked from the start. that’s all.
I don’t think that’s correct.
“Skill and trait unlocking is transitioning into a new system. Profession reward tracks”
From the AMA, traits follow a track that you have to progress through to unlock.
Secondly
“As long as you’ve purchased Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, you’ll automatically unlock access to all elite specializations in PvP.”
Access is the key word there.
You need to buy HoT to get it.

They explicitly said they’re going to do their best to support currently existing builds under the new system.
That being said, “SO”? We’ll likely lose some builds, we’ll likely gain some builds.
Even more likely there will be old builds that still exist that are overwhelmed by new builds and made obsolete
We can’t treat any build like it’s sancrosanct or special, as long as the general style continues to exist and be viable
they will lose a lot of builds, thats a given.
And there will be a lot less possibility.
They may increase the amount of super top end builds from by a factor of two, but they will kill a tone of middle ground builds by a much larger margin. They will also like force synergies
truth is, the options will be far less.first of all there are only 10 possible specialization choices in the core
then there are only 27 possibilities to choose for any one line.many of these choices will likely have no synergy with some builds.
like you wont take anything dagger related within a trait line if you dont use dagger.
so out of those 27 possibilities, a great many will be false choices.
so yeah, a lot less builds by far.
now, you my think that is ok, as long as you get a few more top end choices. But lets not kid ourselves, a lot of viable builds will die. there is noway around it.
True, but how many of those will be replaced.
How many middle ground builds are there that perform at a subpar level when compared to the high end builds
It’s why I asked the question earlier if you missed it.
Maybe all of this will be answered tomorrow?
reducing possibilities will never increase variability. Thats not actually possible.
making better traits MAY increase high end variability, but making better traits has nothing to do with how many possibilities exist. If any new better builds exist, it will be because they made some traits better, thats it.
But how many variables are viable?
This is my main concern and what I hopefully portrayed in my earlier question.
You can for example have a 6/4/1/3 that is outperformed by a 6/4/0/4
Under the new system you lose the 6/4/1/3 but have a better build because you get to choose 6/6/0/6
and have access to two new grandmasters.Quality > Quantity
Why have the option for 27 builds when only 5 of those are actually optimal or high end?
( not an actual number but you get my point right?)We lose a lot of builds for a focused few.
If you feel you lose builds that perform on the same level or better than the current builds listed as meta, then bring them forth ( I use you as a general you, not directed towards any one person)
If we have a list (hopefully a large one) of builds that are viable ( When I use viable i mean a build that contributes significantly in a group setting) and have no replacement or modification with the new system then maybe we wont have to wait a year like we have for them to fix it. ( new player experience which should have been fixed 3 months after it was released because it is horrible, in my opinion of course.)As a community assume the changes are going to happen. Instead of yelling at the screen about how you lose choices show the choices that you lose are significant, and have no alternative.
If you come up with a thread full of viable builds that have no replacement or alternative with the new system do you really think arenanet as a company that needs players to continue to function will ignore you?“and have access to two new grandmasters.”
This assumes you want the two new grandmasters. Because as it stands now (as a guardian) I’d rather have one grandmaster and two majors. Can’t do that anymore.
“Quality > Quantity

I do apologize if it feels like I am attacking people in the pro choice camp.
What I would rather see, is less pointless crying about lack of choice and more direct concern at the loss of viable options that is both focused and specific so that we don’t lose too many good options.

If we can compile a list of builds that contribute in some significant way to group content, and we compile a list of them.
Then we can also compile an accurate list of the ones we lose because of this change.
And when you actually have evidence.
People tend to take you seriously. Please note.
I am asking for builds that will be totally erased with no viable alternative or modification with the new system. Are you trying to be a kitten or is that just how you go about talking to people normally? When I have evidence? How about 6/4/2/2/0? Or 6/4/2/0/2 or 6/4/0/2/2? There are also some niche traits that come in handy for certain things too. Why limit that?
I don’t know what the new system will hold so I don’t know if they will be completely erased as possibilities. That’s why I’m raising my concerns and clearly I’m not alone.
Anet doesn’t really have much credit with me after nearly every change they’ve made so far has been made without 2 way communication with the players. I hope they make this right but forgive me if I don’t place my faith in them.
Sorry you seem to have taken offense to my use of “you” I wasn’t speaking to you directly more as a term for the community.
I linked you a build editor more as something for everyone to use.
Show the builds you lose, when we can show the builds we lose have no viable alternative, and modifing them using different traits wont work.
Then maybe they will take the complaint of limiting choice seriously
Please note I said Maybe.
listing me random numbers and not the class doesnt help.
Another reason why I linked the build editor
And lastly
My warrior uses a 6/0/4/2/2 with leg specialist for the immobilize.
That build will be non existant with the change, and will instead be focused on something completely different, while losing the immobilization uptime that made that build work.
Your turn.
Exactly? If you can make said Fresh Air Ele, why would you pick a different build? You wouldn’t. The concept of tankmages is not a new thing for MMOs.
True, though there isn’t really a tank in this game.
So its really just a burst mage with extra survivability.
But you next point. When the only (meaningful) thing one can contribute to a fight is dps, then the game design is flawed.
This has been the design of this game for a long long time.
There are no roles, you dont designate a tank, or a healer. With this in mind.
How many VIABLE builds are there really. Not 100,000+
probably not even 100+So what does this change really do, besides make already stonger builds stronger?
It breaks the illusion of choice.
This is what I have seen people argue, it’s that whatever random trait combination they made will no longer be able to be made. But here is a challenge ( mostly because I want to see if we can compile a list of builds that will not be modified but instead straight up deleted with the new content patch.)
What VIABLE builds will we actually be losing because of this change?
Pretty much any reasonable Staff Ele setup.

Viable is a fairly loose term. A lot of builds would be considered viable. Basically anything that works could be called viable. Sometimes you (not you specifically) just have to look outside the meta box. That’s been a huge problem in MMOs for a long time.
But even just looking at the current meta builds, quite a few of them (and their variants) are using more than 3 traitlines or sacrifice a master trait for a second adept.
hmmm..Should I restate the question you think?
How many builds that contribute significantly( mainly contribute in some meaningful manner) to group content are going to be modified or added, and how many will we lose because of this change?
better?

There are some traitlines with traits I consider vital in the adept and master tiers. Traitlines that I have no use or desire to go further into. Being able to spend those points going partially into another traitline is a huge part of the flexibility we have now.
You realize this is contradictory? If you consider some traits vital, staples or whatever, they only limit build diversity, not add to it. It means you are, to a degree, forced to choose them.
The new system will force you to make more meaningful choices, instead of augmenting your strengths and covering your weaknesses in the same build. Specialization is what leads to build diversity, not cookie-cutter builds.
I don’t see that being contradictory at all. If an adept trait offers something important to the build/playstyle, being forced into also having to take master and grandmaster traits from the same line does nothing to increase diversity. It’s only preventing those points from being spent on traits that are actually desired/useful.
Having to pick and choose traits to improve your strengths and cover weaknesses is the entire point of the system. It’s what we do every time we make a build. It’s about deciding what is vital to your current chosen playstyle. That single trait is vital because of a choice to go with that build/playstyle. Not because you’re being forced to take it, as if there are no other options.
The point of the system is to specialize, not pick between of handful of minmax cookie-cutter builds.
When you can make a tanky Ele that deals sufficient damage, the incentive to go glass cannon or support is reduced. That’s why in the end, the number of viable builds are reduced.
Depends. If I can make a fresh air ele that has decent survivability while still doing a metric ton of damage then I will chose that build.
If you don’t deal enough damage to kill someone o something then you’re just there to waste time.
Honestly,
How many viable builds go into all 5 lines?
Ranger Pewpew gets condi removal, one of the weaknesses to that build, erased.
Thieves now get access to SA from going full berserker builds
Mesmer’s have the option to get PU as well kittentering.
Fresh Air ele’s get access to huge healing bonuses from the water line.
We are going to see useless traits removed or merged.
Honestly, for viable meta builds this is a buff.
For people that used random trait line combinations
This is basically going to force you to make a choice of viable or unviable builds.
My opinion.
I welcome the change, I am interested in seeing what happens when already viable builds cover there own weaknessess through traits
(edited by Solori.6025)
Perhaps someone could turn this into an app? Where you have a generic text, and the * insert * bits give you drop down menus so you can mix n match different responses and reasons but all meaning the same thing – then copy & paste the results!
(p.s. joke – if someone out there knows how to create apps I’m joking!)

My idea for this is a link button to random gif or youtube insults that fit whatever you’re trying to potray or accomplish.

I’m hoping it will.
What do you guys think?
- I don’t know what the new utilities should be, but they should either replace spectral or minions skills (probably minions).
I truly hope they don’t replace minions. With my human necro, I tend to just rush in and fight with daggers, while my minions (hopefully) jump in and do damage as well. I’m really looking forward to using a greatsword, and having to choose between it and the minions would ruin my desire to play the specialization.
(Yes, I know what I described is not anywhere near the best setup for a Necro. But it’s fun for me.)
Specialization create new utilities that replace one of them. If you like how you play now, then don’t use the speciality, just keep the standard Necromancer.
I like how I play now, but I’d like it more if I had a heavy melee weapon to go with it.
Back to the topic of the thread, please note that we’ve seen just a couple of the legends in action so far. The other legends may have next to nothing to do with conditions, and result in many a Rev that has nothing in common with a Necro.
Actually, we’ve seen how Rev can out shine Necro, Guard and Warrior if played right, or did you not see the Rev on POI?

I’ve been solo roaming on T1 for half a year now, and two things have finally started to dawn on me.
1. A solo glass roamers life is a living hell.
2. Zergs, and condition builds are the majority of encounters that you’ll find.
Now, after considering my options, and my lack of will to return to a tier lower than 4, I am taking into account two transfer options. The first being Yak’s Bend, and the second being Fort Aspenwood.A few of my friends have told me that players in tier 2 are far more skilled in 1v1 and small scale combat, which is a huge plus point for me. I was also told that the numbers are usually even, and the frequency of getting “Zerged” is a lot lower. The only downside is the fact that T2 has MANY thieves, and what makes it worse is their ganking squads.
I would like to know, which server is better in terms of avoiding ganking squads, and which one would be a lot less straining for a glass mesmer.
To be honest T3-4 will be your best bet.
YB is full of people that will leave you as you get outnumbered to sit next to an AC
FA is full of small and large guild groups so your que for maps immediately starts at 7p
SoS has a sever population dip in the middle of the day, so it will be you vs 3 people and during NA you get guild goups doing g v g.
So yea
Avoid T2 or go FA if you play EU time
I liked the mesmer..
The theif…I just cant enjoy someone playing the easymode condi build, especially when it’s basically carried by SA and passive play
Ok, I guess you could argue for the AoE might on a firefield, but the majority of might from your LB F1 fire field will come from OTHERS blast finishers, and be affected by THEIR boon duration, not yours. You’re just making the ring.
I think this would lead to a lot of powerful, broken combinations.
Like having shadow arts + preparedness and Hidden Killer. It would be intersting, But kitten-awful to balance.
I think you misunderstood. I didn’t suggest removing adept/master/grand tiers. I only suggested we remove the associated stat bonuses with each trait line.
Suggestion 1
Remove stats from the trait lines themselves, and link them to each individual trait in a way that makes sense (ex: Warriors trait Forceful Greatsword adds 50 power/50 precision, while Engineer trait Incendiary Powder adds 50 condi/5% condi duration, and Elementalist trait Elemental Attunment adds 5% Intelligence/5% boon duration)Suggestion 2
Remove stats from the trait lines, and just create a second stat line, where you independently assign points as you please. The end result of either would be the same exact amount of stat points and trait restrictions as we have present, just with more flexibility to assign them without ending up with useless stats, or fear of missing out on 300 of a key stat.
AHHH
You’re looking for a complete trait reassignment.
You’re asking Anet to do extra work…
You cray yo.
As an alternate solution to my first one, ANet could just split the Stats/Traits into their own lines.
One for traits, and one for stats.
I would suggest dropping the stat bonuses from the game entirely, but that might hurt certain builds which rely on unique stats, like Boon+, and throw things a bit out of whack.
Longbow has no boons?
You sure about that m8?
If im wrong, by all means, correct me!
F1 then LB3 = Might
^ I mean that is longbow boons.
Anyway.
I think this would lead to a lot of powerful, broken combinations.
Like having shadow arts + preparedness and Hidden Killer.
It would be intersting, But kitten-awful to balance.
Is anyone else bummed that there is so much extra lore and information on ADDITIONAL Hylek tribes instead of a new, exciting race that would make sense in the lore? Yes, culturally and psychologically they’re different from the Vanilla Hylek, but still… Why did you choose to bring frogs, not once but TWICE…..?
You had the ability to add a lot of new, interesting races. Stick-insect like races, or other insect-based races. Perhaps a humanoid version of Wind riders, or an arachnoid race. WHAT EVER. Anything other than Hylek.
Truly, frogs are boring when you compare the possibility of what you could’ve done otherwise. There is NOTHING exciting about frogs.
“Oh hey Bert, did you hear about the new Guild Wars 2 expansion?”
“kitten ed if I didn’t, Bort! I heard some cool new frog people will be introduced!”
“You mean like the Hylek?”
“Oh no, silly, these are NEW! One tribe is high as f*** and the other one seems like that bully you had in middle school!”
“You can be such an kitten sometimes Bert.”
Like what?
Tengu (tangu?) Are secluded in a walled city,
We already have ogre’s, and snake people.
The newest race we haven’t seen are the Mursaat ( I’m assuming they are mursaat)
But as was noted, what could be brought into this game that lore wise make sense?
We are getting new enemies, maybe dinosaurs?
My opinion though, I don’t really care. I am most likely going to power game through the story( Actually Binge play through is more accurate as I enjoy this story), power my way through masteries ( I hate grinding so the faster this gets done the better), then WvW.
Uh, is it a physical box? Did they say? More than a few computer games have opted for purely digital releases, since boxed purchases have been in decline for a decade.
As much as ArenaNet is looking forward to scoring easy money off of all of GW2’s existing devotes, this is a critical opportunity to put the game in front of people who aren’t playing yet… and the #1 way you do that is to take up physical space on a shelf where gamers are browsing.
Many/most of us here will likely buy it digitally… but we’re not the (new) people the boxes are targeting.
ehhh boxes dont work too well for expansions, unless they are packaged with the orginial. Nothing makes someone put down a box quicker(impulse buy) than learning they need to buy something else to get it to work.
…WoW,GW1, FF, and Starcraft say hello.
If it is something people are interested in, they will buy it.
If the price is too much, most likely they aren’t looking for new games in the first place.
Second, as for your determination of the height from the jungle floor, you’re forgetting something, that isn’t the jungle floor just below them. We now know that the jungle is composed of 3 biomes, canopy, floor and underground. I’m guessing from what I’ve seen is that the top of the canopy is itself at least a 1000 ft(approximately 300 meters) above the floor(ground), if not higher. Based on that premise(if you haven’t seen the Beta portion of the map, then you wouldn’t know this) with the pact ships 200 – 500 meters above the canopy(top of the jungle) we’re looking at anywhere from 500 – 800(1000) meters above the floor/ground. You can also tell the ground is a lot farther down just by watching how far the vines have to travel upwards into the air to hit some of the pact ships, which are all at different levels. In order for the bombing to be even remotely effective you need to be at least in range of your ordinance otherwise your bombs will explode in air and not even reach the target
This…
Like I said.
If someone gave treaherne false intel, then they were doomed to fail in the first place.
What makes all of this quite sad and intriguing, however, is why the Pale Tree chose to never tell Trahearne about the sylvari’s origin. Had Trahearne known, perhaps he could’ve kept the sylvari Pact members at a distance, thus avoiding this tragedy. I can understand Caithe keeping it a secret from him due to her reasons, but to the Pale Tree Trahearne is the first of her Firstborn, the chosen one who purified Orr and led the campaign against one Elder Dragon already. Surely he deserves to know the truth at least in the present day when he’s grown as a character and proven himself worthy as opposed to what he was like in the past? I do hope Heart of Thorns will elaborate on this and give us a decent enough explanation but I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
I also wondered this, If Trahearne would have known this, then he might have left the sylvari behind. On the other hand, what if he knew this, and that is the reason he wanted to attack so soon.
Knowing that the enemy could turn every sylvari against the world now that the pale tree was significantly weakened.
He rushed to end mordremoth before he woke up, and caused chaos around the world.
This could explain why he was in such a rush to kill the dragon.
Could you imagine the chaos around Tyria, Sylvari are in just about every corner of the world, in high places even amoung the orders. Mordremoth could, if fully aware, cripple nations from the inside.
as long as HoT not release, we gona stay on the current situation forever.
no LS, no new map. regularly release some useless stuff on TP. so Boring.
well i may consider to press the stop button.
Go take a break.
You arent getting HoT tomorrow, and you clearly are bored. Go take a break. ESO is b2p,and there are hundreds of free ones. Netflix binge watch something.
Heh. Would you have committed the entirety of your forces to that one big dramatic all out attack?
That’s basically what we did at Orr, One big giant push.
We took the fort with one big giant push,
Rushed orr with the entirety of the fleet.
And fought Zhaitan with the entirety of the air and ground armada
It’s why the pact was still recovering afterwards
Building Ships
AND
Asking for help in filling in the ranks for the battle with mordremoth.
The military strategy isn’t a good one no. And most general’s would play it safe UNLESS
intel provided proved otherwise and you believe you can overtake the enemy and set up a strong base of operations.
The folly is that they tried to fight a dragon that
A. Just woke up
B. Has no real intel built up ( unlike Zhaitan which trahearne studied for years)
And the priory has no real records of the dragons either.
So no one even knows bubbles real name ( but thats a discussion for later)
I face-palmed when Trahearne just started barraging an otherwise silent forest.
Like, did he even see anything vital to hit or is he just suspicious of all trees now? That is how warfare works though.
You have a general target. You hit general target with bombs.
Just look at some pictures how London and Berlin looked by the end of WWII.Not to mention Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Nope. Trahearne’s attack was nonsense, just like the non-defense of the Pact base in the Silverwastes was nonsense. I’ve already written about it on these forums, not going to go through it all again. Look it up if you feel inclined to disagree.
“Fire!” was all about making a dramatic cutscene. That’s it, and that’s all.
!?
Bro do you even war?
If you have an idea that an enemy controls a large general area,The SAFEST thing you can do is weaken that force as much as possible before you start a ground campaign.
This is what the pact attempted to do.
What I think may have happened is that a sylvari with the whispers went deeper into the jungle, got corrupted and gave false intel as to how deep the jungle was.
With what we know now. Carpet bombing would do minimal damage to the forces below, but much more to the ones residing in the top. and mid-sections
( also everyone realize trahearne is not the only thinker for the pact, as we have the vigil, and whispers who give intel and strategies on warfare).
Making them easier to get would reduce the value of the treasure hunter achievements. The droprates would have to be adjusted to keep the amount of items coming into the economy low.
Why?
Why do they need to keep the grind for achievements high and the RNG for said items low?
This isn’t a legendary.
It’s an achievement, people who spend time doing said achievement should be rewarded for there time. Not punished because RNG never roles in there favor.
I don’t understand the mentality of “lets keep a profitable item that I have profitable by punishing everyone else”
Increase the drop rate, fix the event. The 1% can take a loss of a few hundred gold, not gonna kill them.
It will be $40 or a bit more. If you are too cheap to pay that then the rest of us will have fun in the jungle without you.
They lost so many players in this recent years, putting way too much price will drove ppl away.
Probably not.
There is no way of knowing who will buy it unless you make a pole.
And I’m going to guess, the majority are going to buy it.
The people that left the game didn’t leave because of the price.
They left because the game offered nothing else new they were interested in.
Put in a new shiny and the majority of those players will come back, clear the content and leave again.
But they will come back none the less.
Then you will have people that wont buy it because they don’t want to pay for it.
5 months later those players will be left behind or cave and buy it sooner.
I’m guessing the latter.
The price honestly has nothing to do with people that have already left. They didn’t leave because the game cost to much. That arguement for a $20 dollar price tag is kinda silly.
39.99-59.99 is what I expect
that is reasonable for a company like Arena Net ( especially seeing as how other games that had a monthly fee charged you the same thing)Not really.
The expansion feels like Living World Season 3 with a few extras. If we didn’t already have a lack of content in game due to the Gem Store I would still agree with you, though, in that 39.99 would be a fair price.
But with ArenaNet saying that they will only manage to add a “handful” of legendaries with HoT while they keep a steady flow of new complex weapon skins in the Gem Store… Sorry. We don’t pay a monthly fee, but we already lose enough due to the in-game store.
Actually you don’t lose anything because of the gem store.
You don’t lost the ability to play.
You aren’t forced to buy skins
You aren’t forced to grind.
Everything you pay for in this game is by choice.
YOU CHOOSE to waste money on skins.
Secondly, having played the entry level beta, I had fun. I look forward to the change we get to classes and I look forward to the Rev.
I could understand if the information we have gotten was the entirety of HoT.
So far, we have gotten vague responses and speculations.
But unless you know more about the expansion, How do you figure its a Living world Season 3?
Do you know specifically how many legendaries they are adding?
Do you know how the classes will change with specalizations?
Do you know of the other boss and world encounters they are adding?
Do you know about how guild halls will work?
Did you see the new game improvements they are adding(like the condi cap raise)?
Have you explored all the new maps?
Do you even know how many new maps we are getting?
Did you find the new achievements to be to trivial?
Do you have any indepth information to basically compare this expansion with the living world seasons?
They can live up to it, if they couldn’t, Balthazar wouldn’t be so good then.
…and seriously people, stop it with whining about outfits, it’s really getting annoying. Some don’t like outfits, some (including me) love them.lol chill, nobody is “whining” about it. Im glad you like them, so do I, but think about it, if they were armor then you would still be able to use them as a full set (outfit as it currently stands) and as matching armors (for the rest of us), and everybody is happy
On another note; Im waiting for the Lyssa armor now
You do realize, if they were armors, it would look different depending on what you are. My main is mesmer. If they make it so light Balthazar looks like heavy, it will have nothing to mix with since all light armors are dresses, same goes for medium armors. If they made it so that they all look different depending on your armor, many will be sad to see another dress for light.. in that case, it’s nice to have outfits so you get to use something different that is not usually made for your class.
I’m going to say this is incorrect.
I also own a mesmer ( an all other light armor characters, and heavys, and medium :P)
I could find plenty of armor combo’s that I would like with this.
44$ is too much for that kind of content. This is maybe preorder. Fair price would be 20-30$ (if they want to bring back players)
…
So a new proffession
Specializations for every profession (including the new one)
New maps ( cause we dont know if it will be 3 with multiple layers or 5)
Guild halls
New in game mechanics ( condi-cap raise, gliding, crafting + what ever they decide to reveal)
New story
New WvW map ( which is huge )
New PvP game mode
New skins
New achievements
New jumping puzzles
New legendaries
New weapons
New Armor
AND NO MONTHLY FEE’S
39.99-59.99 is what I expect
that is reasonable for a company like Arena Net ( especially seeing as how other games that had a monthly fee charged you the same thing)
Would I like a new dungeon added to that
Yes.
But, seeing as how they can add them later, I’m not to worried
Skill based gameplay makes zerker viable. GW2 is a skill based action game. Because of that, zerker, or more specifically, full offense, will always reign supreme for skilled players. Nothing will ever change that unless GW2 specifically implements gear based difficulty, as seen in traditional RPGs where it’s not your skill, but your gear that is the deciding factor.
Dark Souls for example is a challenging skill based action game. Those who can will stack offense whereas those who can’t will stack defense. The elite are capable of playing naked, so why would they ever bother with defense unless they wanted to play casually.
As GW2 continues to increase the difficulty, some people will find that they’re no longer capable of wearing zerkers, then the next step down will be the next popular. This will create a wave however, where everyone except the most elite will be shifted down and the worst players in the game will find that not even nomad’s will save them.
There will never be a solution to the “zerker meta” since it’s not a problem. It will however shrink over time as the game becomes more difficult.
^ this and +1
Another problem is the AI we have is predictable, and the rotation is stale.
I’m waiting for Anet to design an AI that randomizes its attack pattern and uses skills depending on the situation.
I would also like to see an AI that is made to win, not just to be there and be a hindrance.
But in changing the difficulty of the game.
You also have to change the rewards it gives, otherwise, we end up with an open world aether path that no one will want to do but once. Because it isn’t worth the difficulty.
I couldn’t help but notice you offered no solutions to this problem. This is an MMO, what do you even want them to do? How are your choices supposed to matter when there are a few hundred thousand other people who are also supposed to be the sole hero the story is centered around? They can’t change the world as experienced by everybody based on the decisions of one player, and if you’re looking for any permanent change in the environment based on your decisions, you will never find it in a non-sandbox online game.
Except world of warcraft. Through tech known as “phasing” they were are still are able to craft unique experiences in the stories and quests for characters based on choices the make and where they are in the main quests. The worgen starting area uses this heavily. It is not hard to have player who make choice A in a separate phase than a player who makes choice B, especially in the ALREADY INSTANCED story quests.
Yes, lets split up the community in the open world.
That will solve everything.
Waiting for new content is very hard for me as I want everything RIGHT NOW.
Most people get over that phase when they’re above 10 years old or so.
WoW

@huntroll.1489: lol’d? My Tank warrior does twice the dmg than my ~zerker power ranger, and it really works at least same efficent while I’m watching a movie and drinking coffee at the same time. Except in WvW, there it got conditioned badly.
.
I’m no expert.
But I believe that’s mathematically impossible unless you are really
REALLY
REEEEAAALLLYYY bad at ranger.
Like you have to be day 1 brand new to ranger to be outdamaged by a warrior.
A tank one at that.
You need to be 3 papers clips away from full on state approved slow to be outdamaged as a zerk ranger vs a tank warrior.
bruh…
I’ma need you to share your ranger build so we can actually help you.
Cause my heart hurts from your lack of understanding.
…and there’s my simple april fools for the day. now I can get back on my plane and fly through Tyria.
Be careful not to fly too close to mountains..
“Additional details have also been revealed related to the most recent revenant stance, the Skritt Burglar. Rumors have it that ArenaNet is “caving” to pressure from those who have not played the original game and have given up on limiting the stances to heroes of Guild Wars. While channeling the Legendary Burglar, revenants will be able to toss tonics that turn their foes into various “ambient” creatures – rabbits, siamoths, chickens – making them easy prey. This same forced change can be seen in the mesmer skill, Polymorph Moa, and can be quite devastating. Colin promised that more details regarding the Revered Terebinth Stance would be released in the very near future.”
Today is the day you should NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING on the internet.
Don’t care if the president says it.
Today is not the day.
You all realize you don’t have to read what I say right? You could just ignore it if you have nothing constructive to say or don’t agree with it.
You make a post on the forums and immediately don’t want feedback unless people agree?
Do you how forums work?
I found it funny for the first 10 minutes… but i agree about the plane crash, Oh and the crucifixions. Those too. Have you people never seen KIDS play pretend to be an airplane, they do the exact same thing, does it offend you then?
The difference here is that a company did this knowingly. They have the resources to research what is going on in the world. Regardless of if people found it offensive they should have realized it might cause an issue. It just makes them look kind of silly.
The only people who look silly are the ones trying to find a reason to be offended in a video game.
It’s like trying to taking offense to to killing people in WvW because it promotes violence in the Middle east.
Neither of the two are connected, its idiotic and illogical.
A wise man once said only a fool seeks to take offense where none was meant.
