PSA Regarding MF Items & Choosing The Stats

This is NOT a bug but working as intended as far as I can see.
Never said it was a bug, but the fact that it was roughly omitted unless one paid attention, is what I’m mostly putting up. I was under the impression it would have remained accountbound/soulbind on use. As I was not lead to believe otherwise until I made my mistake.
Intended, yes. But there was still a bit of lack of communication.
PSA Regarding MF Items & Choosing The Stats

Did you change the stat WHILE it was equipped on that Character? Otherwise it’s only supposed to Account Bound the item. If it’s not becoming Account Bound, then it’s a bug and should be reported.
See, if the item is actually on your character and you change stats.. well it will Account Bound it and then instantly Soul Bind it as well since it’s equipped. Does that make sense?
Again, if that’s not the case, then it’s a bug. The patch notes clearly say that the items should become account bound.
That’s not how it currently works. The item wasn’t equipped at all. I’ll use the very example that I had happen that made me make this known for this very reason.
On my main, which is Warrior, I decided to take the exotic LIGHT set of gloves and change their stats. Seeing as how I have an Ele that’s low level, I figured I’d change the stats in advance for them.
I changed the stats to Cleric’s for instance. Now those LIGHT gloves are now SOULBOUND to my Warrior.
Now do you see the problem? It notes such upon changing the stats, but I dismissed it simply as a ‘you cannot change it after set’ warning. Not a soulbind warning. Which was my mistake, but wanted to make sure it wasn’t repeated.
So I ended up having to salvage it since I couldn’t even give it to my Ele no more.

Figure I’d let someone know before they get the same unfortunately incident as me.
CHANGING THE STATS WILL AUTOMATICALLY SOULBIND
Yes, so unless you want that item specifically on that character, do not change the stats on them. Regardless of profession it will soulbind it.
It does say so on the prompt screen when selecting stats, but I figure I’d let people know as its rather easily overlooked.
Personally it shouldn’t have been so, but ah well.
Just don’t waste any precious exotics on changing stats until its on a char you want it to be.
Supply and demand. The more people that want it, the higher the price is so that sellers can earn a buck. The more useful or rare it is, the better.
Not clear-what happens to MF gear I OWN

Your gear will become account bound.
Upon double clicking you will get to select a new stat type for your gear from a selection given.
Plus the +20% you mentioned.
AFAIK, there won’t be any compensation for gold spent on MF gear. Sorry.
Since this seems to be the more appropriate section regarding the MF updates, figure I’d repost it here;
So with the news about how MF items are going to be dealt with, there was one thing on my mind that wasn’t quite answered for. Yes, TP items will be return, and already owned items in personal banks or on a character will be account bound. But…
What about items in the Guild Bank? What will happen to those?
Will they be destroyed?
Will whoever withdraws them simply get the Account status for the item?
Will they be owned by whoever deposited them last (or first)? To be honest this is a pretty important question as the answer regarding this could affect some things in the banks and I wouldn’t want anything ill fated to happen to someone due to a misunderstanding.
Any clarification on this would help. I didn’t see anything on the wiki regarding this issue.
A sales tax? Really? On game cards? I bought 1 once for a diff game and it was a flat rate no HST etc. TY, I’ll avoid that store, and TY for the replies.
Some stores do sales tax for cards, others don’t. It’s rather weird.
I recall Shoppers drug Mart occasionally carrying game cards as well, but given that the GW2 gem cards are in cases, I don’t know how many would carry them in convenience stores.
Don’t give up hope though!
I got mine at BestBuy, its likely just the fact your store didn’t have them, but they do carry them in most cases. I know the one in Belleville did. I’m sure many other retailers carry them as well.
Unfortunately I wouldn’t know where in the Toronto area you would find them though, maybe it would be a good idea to phone up some locations regarding them to save on gas and a trip. (Especially knowing Toronot traffic! lol)
Beyond that, not much I can help you in that regard.
Uhhmm what? We must be playing different games. I have maybe gotten 1 fine stone with dailies since launch playing most every day. I don’t think I have ever received one from map completion and as for chances from keys/chests…those have decreased as items have been added to the chests.
Guess my luck is merely better than others in that regard. I get BL Kits and Stones fairly regularly from dailies.
Chests are even more so, and thats only an hour of my time, can do it again if I don’t get any.
As I said, I thought I recalled them being a map reward (hence the iirc), I never said it was fact. I just remember some saying that there was some, most notably in the higher level tiers. I just find the other methods easier anyways. Get em as they come.
The transmutation stones aren’t that big of a deal given they drop from dailies, a few map completion rewards iirc, can be easily key farmed as well.
You don’t need to put in that much effort for them. Honestly a 5% rough increase in stats so far seems only beneficial for farming or FoTM. I wouldn’t rush things.

This is quite the turn off. I likely won’t be purchasing any upgrades in the future given this information.
Clearly its better to sit and wait for it to improve than to buy it early. the goodies weren’t all that great. Most of the starter stuff I trash simply because after you’ve leveled enough characters, those items are beyond redundant.
Oh well, live and learn I guess.
No there is. For a second, you had me doubting there.
I just went to the merchant and took a screenshot. Rifle indicated with a red arrow.
Ah, my apologies. Jumped the gun. Mixed them up with the winter’s day skins.
In this case, I would assume that they are bugged much like the zodiacs and such were for a bit, or… No one’s put it up on the TP yet. Given their expensiveness and rarity, it might be some time before you see some of them.
The contents of the boxes are dependant on their rarity. Ranging from Fine to Exotic. Some of the gear within is based on your level, but no more than the quality inside the box itself.
The exotics mostly spit out greens, sometimes a rare yellow. If you are lucky to get an exotic, congrats to you!
There’s no fused rifle from the ticket merchant, so either they are super rare, or simply don’t exist. If there is a bug. Looked at the merchant myself and didn’t see any. Only the pistol.
Why?
That is how business have always worked, and always will.
People rush to buy something at release (I pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe Edition about 5 minutes after it was made available) and then get to play for lets say a year with all the awesome stuff in-game (quite a bit that are no longer available).People that wait on the other hand will always have a chance to buy it during a sale or with a special offer, which are more or less always released sooner or later with almost any product.
What if they release an expansion in a year or two and people gets the ability to buy the expansion and get the standard game free of charge? Would you demand to get the expansion free then? Because you bought the game two year ago?
It’s actually very poor business practice if a company does that last part. As loyal customers will then feel cheated. Why? Not only do they not get the benefit of getting the same offer as those new, but if they wanted to take advantage of such, they’d have to pay it over again.
I wonder how many people would buy a product if each time they had to buy everything else just to get on par? No, its not all that common, especially out of digital good services.
Its not the same as something going on sale, as that is something that is typically limited time. As the only difference then is the value, not what’s contained within. Everyone is still on the same level in terms of what was credited. But, seeing as how a ‘sale’ isn’t even the case here, that point is rather moot.
I remember when 30silver for 100 gems seemed expensive. lol. Now I look at it and laugh and laugh.
Glad I got some of the stuff I needed before it rose to insane conversion amounts. Would rather pay than waste hours farming gold in more cases.
Farming happens. Pretty much everywhere you go in a game its there if there’s a way to obtain something. Regardless of its value.
In some cases, I don’t find this to be too big of a problem. As it usually affects the populace little. More often than not, its seen as being skill-less and laughable to do so. As they aren’t earned properly.
The thing about farmers in this game is that, indeed, there is little to no skill involved. The steps goes as follows:
1- A single (or small group) of people figure out how to abuse a broken mechanic in the game not intended with a stat/weapon/tactic that will yield them great rewards and/or in little time.
2- They post it online for others to see and share the success for benefit.
3-The majority of farmers are merely mimics, bearing no skill of their own as they are just replicating the already done steps taken. They rinse and repeat. There is little to no effort on their part.
The only ones that could say they had any skill at all were the ones who devised the method to begin with.
The rest are no better than the bots running around the game near launch. (Except they were at least more efficient.) And oh boy, the crying when those bots were around. Even the ’farmer’s were complaining. lol.
However, despite the other downsides that farming can bring, the -real- issue is not the people who do so, but their attitudes. Which many quite disgust me for. The Queen’s Gauntlet was the biggest thing that showed me the black side of that coin with how aggressive they were just to abuse a broken mechanic for reward. And to me, thats not cool. Any farmer that did so deserves any blacklash they might get. The rest are cool with me.
There’s probably a few who’ve witnessed it, or did it mostly for the kicks and giggles but I was quite surprised when I saw them in action myself against the comparable AI components.
And I gotta say… They kick some kitten .
Whoever trained these guys was quite clearly above Logan Thackery. And if these guys are the ones protecting the Queen, I don’t think there’s much worry.
Saw them take out some events all on their own when activated. The Champion of the Stony Shield seeming to be the most effective out of all of them.
I’d be a little scared if these guys ever worked together. Why worry about the invasion. These guys got it covered. But it sure is quite fun fighting along these guys. (Just don’t get in the way lol.)
Anyone else see these ‘legendary’ guards fight the good fight themselves and what were your experiences?
Jennah – 1
Scarlet – 0
To be perfectly honest, I thought they were trakittenems from picking up from mobs during the event just taking up inventory space. I deleted them.
Hasn’t inhibited me at all from continuing.
I am a tad disappointed if its not retroactive.
Though even if it was, I wouldn’t be getting very much out of it anyways save for an extra set of Primevil skins. (Which I also paid for in gems… sigh.) So, it’s kind of a double whammy in that regard.
Even if its not retroactive, I am curious how much they will charge for DD buyer’s to get the upgrade, as paying another 2000 gems or even the full $49.99 is a bit out of the question.
How long will it take me to get the achievements for the watchknight tonic? I don’t have much time to play, maybe a 2-3 hours every few days. If I just went hardcore, balls-to-the-wall achievement farming, could I get it done in about a week?
I got it in about 2 days. If you just follow around the different maps and such, its rather easy to obtain. Especially the funhouse achievements when you get them.
Also, each day has a daily which also counts toward the meta. So, doing those could also save you a bit of time in that regard.
To be honest I haven’t see any of the bonus objectives in that regard. Funnily enough, the only area i didn’t manage to avoid mobs was the centaur one (and the one before the pot boil).
Everything else was cake.
But I don’t see any related achievements or rewards for it even if so.
- The Shrapnel mine is also very good, it is a low cooldown trap with long duration bleeds and 5sec cripple.
VERY useful racial skill for charr, especially in low levels. Does some considerable damage for a utility skill. I used it quite a bit on my squishies or the like defensively. Even though it later gets replaced, I do find its still quite a boon when starting out. No other racial so far has done so, besides just for kicks or looks.
Guild Wars 2 Wiki Notes
Previewing transmuted equipment will display the skin of the item that provided the stats instead the item that provided the skin.
Build: 22,579
Now why would anet make it so that the skin you picked is not the one that shows up in a preview. Honestly i can’t think of any reason to change this.
It’s likely a bug, not intended. Or if it is, they decided that the origin of the weapon was priority over its appearance, in case it was wanted for its base. As, me having a exotic beserker’s Ebonhawke shield could be misleading to whats actually available? Just assumptions.
But I think it’s just a bug, much like how you couldn’t preview weapons or armor that you couldn’t wear before.
The wiki was updated by a user most likely, not Anet.
To be perfectly honest… I found the loot first annoying in this case. Often times all I saw was “LOOT” from trash mobs I wanted nothing to do with making it impossible to kill finish the enemies off. Also extremely annoying how loot often times is prioritized over revive. Had to pick up several trakittenems just to revive people on numerous occasions. x..x
The portal device has a chance of not working at all and knocking you down as well as teleporting you somewhere. It’s unfortunate your use was a dud.
The karma jugs were a compensation for the lack of forewarning about the change to karma jugs/consumables no longer being affected by boosts/banners.
Keep in mind, the MINIMUM level is 25. it can go up as level 80 areas for this event. If you want to survive these events, stick close to the zergs, keep on the outer ring of the fights and just focus on mobs. You won’t do enough damage to likely tag any of them, but do enough for participation and that’s all you’ll need.
However, you are going against the grind with this event bud unfortunately. It happens, don’t let this one aspect ruin it for you.
I like Logan, even if his priorities are a little askew or backwards. Loyal as he is, sometimes his loyalty cripples him in the areas.
A character isn’t without it’s flaws. And his aren’t too overbearing like some and not too lacking in others. It’s believable as it has happened in alot of cases to people.
Logan’s problem is that he loves the Queen and that is his priority. However, because of such, others suffer who NEED protection. The shining blade had the Queen protected. Why didn’t Logan evac the civilians to a safer spot before they got utterly bombed? Likely because he didn’t want to stray to far from the Queen, thus numerous people died.
In numerous instances he’s been rather reckless or too caring for Jennah. If it were anyone else in power, I doubt he would be quite as ‘dedicated’. Even though he is, just a bit more towards what he’s supposed to.
Well, the main reason I can think of for the gender biases is simply this; Scarlet isn’t the REAL boss. She’s an underling controlling underlings.
Secondly, these groups banding together may not be mutual, but forced. It’s been referenced in the events in the case of the Aetherblades she says “Have you met my Aetherblades? They work for me. Because they like living.”
So, its not so much they WANT to help her, it seems like they are more likely forced into that. Something or someone is powerful enough to cause these disputes to be set aside, regardless of personal preferences or ideals.
For some character’s I think its rather impossible for some to ‘recognize’ her. As in the case of me being a charr main, the only Sylvari I can recall ever meeting was Trahearne and the group of undead hunters in Orr. None of them were A.) Evil B.) Super geniuses C.) Anyone notable outside their function for that part of the short story.
The ONLY connection I can think of for Scarlet in ANY story is the Asuran one.
I personally haven’t had a use for it. It lacks good range or damage or cooldown. For an elite, its pretty terrible.
Tried it in WvW, had little success. Found the Charrzooka alot more viable. (lol, seeing those red splashes, people going down and scattering from the walls is absolutely golden. =3)
I found it was much easier to do the achievement solo. The mobs are easy to run past until you try and save Faren. Just cut them down asap and do your best to take out the ones that merge/repair first.
The Rox horns used to not scale at all, guess they fixed that.
Ears were always shapable/scalable if I recall.
Actually, your char can run while in an upright position. Just not when moving forward. If you strafe, your character will run on two legs at roughly the same speed all the NPC’s do. Only difference is for the player is the direction your facing isn’t really forward.
Also your walk animation is also upright.
The only time you are on all fours is running directly forward (albeit that is most of the time), and some special combat animations.
Given their animal anatomy, their hunched over look is alot more natural. Most anthropomorphic creatures are slightly hunched in alot of sources. GW isn’t the only one to do so. D&D lizardfolk and various others are a prime example. However as mentioned before, there was lore reasons for the previous postures. And in cases of a salute, its still also used as a sign of respect.
I wouldn’t mind some additional charr customization, even if minor in that regard. But I personally think they are the race with the most unique array out of all the others. Just my opinion though, but it never hurts to add a bit more. Be it claws or horns.
Hiding some clothes could be an option. As some do look pretty bad in certian cases, or if you are going for a particular look. (I for one, have a barbaric looking ranger with axes. Little armor as possible.) So, I don’t mind that, but if there’s too much hidden, we’ll be having everyone running around in their skivvies!
The default black I think is fine, given alot of animals are so. Changing it wouldn’t have that drastic of an effect compared to claws or horns. Especially if they are covered by boots anyways. Unlike what most gloves or helms do.
This… Is mostly personal taste. I personally like it and enjoy such. The animations are rather nice and it compliments their body counter composition when moving in alot of cases. But its personal preference. Alot of the races suffer from ‘anti-rp’ idle animations. Charr are just one.
Yeah… I still laugh at the footprints thing a bit. Not a big deal though.
I’ve gotten used to it to be honest. But if it were ever to be fixed, it would be nice, but its beyond something I can nitpick about given how most games or other things treat characters with tails.
I was quite disappointed that after the rather neat cutscene of the Queen’s speech, that it wasn’t going to be available for replay, after the rather pleasant reward of doing so for the Dragon Bash festivities. I personally enjoyed the Lord Faren scene most especially. (lol got a good chuckle out of it before the sadface moment)
Hence why I wouldn’t mind the journal some of us got to be changed into a Living Story book. That would contain those cutscenes even after the event is over into one nice little spot. (Keeps the inventory from being cluttered from other books being added as well.)
I think it would be a neat touch, but I might be the minority in that regard. These sort of scenes are very well done and its quite a shame in seeing them only once ever.
I personally enjoyed the previous LS instances where they did actually fight and were surprisingly a lot more competent/useful than any NPC ally in the game thus far. (I’m looking at you Trahearne!)
But yeah, I would like to see them a bit more involved. But this instance was a pretty short lived one to begin with and the difference between the Flame and the Frost and now is that they are representatives like most of the other races. So… them getting involved and a chance of dying wouldn’t go well with Kryta.
So, at least flavor wise that reason could satisfy some.
Remember that the events scale with players, if you get a nice low number of people to help ya, it goes rather quickly as long as you aren’t unlucky enough to have a champ spawn.
Had mine just randomly pop up after an event. Wasn’t even keeping track in the heat of the moment. It’s not too hard if you go with an organized group.
I did it solo, you were pretty much able to skip 90% of the fights if you were smart.
Scarlet’s boss mechanics were pretty mundane as well.
Not sure if this scales with more people though. But “recommended 5 players” really? lol
The dragons aren’t even actually evil to be technical. They only do what they do so they can eat. They don’t understand the need for civility or diplomacy or even empathy for anything. they only understand their wants and needs. Evil is knowing something is wrong(by an ethical standpoint and to be very technical evil and good is purely an opinionated thing. it’s only because most people share an overlying code in ethics that it seems they are fact).
Well, by most Tyrian standards they are a ‘Great Evil’, even if they are simply going by instinctual. I just remember that there was a few I recall that weren’t bent on consuming the world like a natural disaster.
Perma-stealth thieves. Clearly need nerfing. lol (jk)
The thing about the tablet and the dragon issue is… Even though our known sylvari are spawned form the Pale Tree as we know it, whos to say this dormant Dragon is even evil to begin with? Hence why even Sylvari from other trees might be good natured if there wasn’t any ‘corruption’ to begin with.
If I recall, there are a few good dragons in the lore. But hey, don’t quote me on that. I was wrong once already in this thread. lol
One Sylvari =/= All.
Not to mention she is also from an alternate universe. Likely one where sylvari are smart. ;p
Not be in overflow. If you are in an overflow, you have about a 50-50 chance of it having an event at the same time or within 10 minutes. If there isn’t, you can safely assume your zone isn’t one.
These are exotic minis though!
They might drop, but I doubt it. The original sets of minis went all the way up to Rare. I just think they just added a new rarity set to the minis on the second set is all. Make them even more rare.
Minis Set 2 on BLTC.
Gotta love how when there’s NPC’s around that don’t seem to instance their voice or text to the person like most beckoning ones do. This is just another one of those moments where the zerg was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
He kept going like this for quite some time too!
This was Scarlet’s plan all along. “Enjoying yourself? I know I am.”
Personally this almost tops COF’s “I THINK WE HAVE MOAR SPIEZ” bug. XD
Mobs spawning isn’t the only chaos she’s wreaking havoc on!
How about you guys? Encountered any odd mishaps regarding zergs in places that normally would have them with some odd tidbits?
I doubt they’ll be adding DR for deadeye since it’s out at tomorrow’s patch anyway. It’s fine if farmers want to farm. It may be unhealthy to play 10 hours a day but that’s your choice (and sometimes mine too, lol).
What I dislike is the inflation, but that’s not the farmer’s faults it’s Anet’s. (woot apostrophes!)
More crafting material drops = good.
More raw currency drops = bad.
More cosmetic options= good.
More time gated endgame gear= bad.
Incorrect, the only thing being removed tomorrow is the Opening Ceremony instance for the LS for the festival. Everything else will continue to remain until Sept 3rd.
But I doubt it will get DR during that time, since its here for only a short bit more, i don’t think they are even gonna bother with it till next year.
The only thing that needs to be completed by the 20th is the opening speech. Everything else lasts until the 3rd.
