Immunity always trumps any amount of boosted bonus.
Now if it had said “ALWAYS crits” then we’d have a problem.
+1000 toughness once per 40s (for hambow) instead of Ire/Merciless Hammer/Defy Pain? Or incredible 30 Str trait worse than new Sigil of Intelligence? Yes, awesome traits.
Especially since defy pain = damage immunity + stunbreaker > boost to toughness.
The only GM trait that I actually thought was useful out of the bunch was that Might sharing, but its sadly tacked onto that Tactics tree.
I personally think that it might be better to be reworked in a more offensive/defensive manner.
Striders Defense: Block ranged attacks for 1 second every 2-3 seconds in melee combat as long as you are attacking.
Could be worded a bit differently or duration changed, but reworking it in this fashion would encourage Rangers to fight in melee with significant benefit from taking the risky fighting style.
Alternatively instead of the cooldown, it could simply be the duration is for however long an attack is going on. (The more you attack, the more blocks you get.)
This makes it so that a ranger in combat can time their attacks, without relying too heavily on RNG. Also, it doesn’t clarify what defines ‘melee’ does it mean in range of the opponent or simply weapons? The fact its so vague is also a problem.
Well, I’m thinking that the active won’t be reworked this round. Even if they left it, it’d still be better than what HS was 2 iterations ago. (Pretty much anyone but 5 sig wars found it garbage.)
In its new state, it’s still usable in passive form even with the slight nerf. So they will likely be taking the time to brainstorm something to make the active worth pressing.
I don’t think its off the table, but they never gave an ETA when this change would come.
Gw1 did that also once. Everyone was the size of a mini and all the minis were people sized.
Picture is blurry, but you can see the large “miniatures” with the small characters beside them.
I can see this would be a problem for those that own Teq. XD

I will say one thing:
Still a better love story than Twilight.
Beyond that, I knew this end would wind up disappointing me. But I underestimated just how much.
Worst part is, got nothing to distract me from this until the next patch as nothing else is going on.
12, not bad. Got 14 myself. =3 Might use my crude PS skills to do so at some point.
Everything in this game is crafted. So nothing is rare.
Not everything, but even still, T6 mats don’t get slapped on with Exotic grade just because they create Exotic items.
Plus this extends to rare drops that are common that aren’t crafted as well.
It’s become increasingly more and more that there’s been a notable skew on what is ‘rare’ in the game as of late.
A perfect example of this is ascended materials. The top tier crafting materials that are used to make the BiS items at this time. Given a whole new tier of rarity just for it.
But they are the furthest thing from rare. In fact quite the opposite since in some cases, these materials are actually guaranteed. Defeating their value and making them more of a common annoyance for those who view them no better than trophies. (At least give those coin.) These materials really should be reduced to Fine or around there.
Ascended weapons or armor dropping? That’s rare. Not these materials who are rare in name only.
This has been occurring in a few other cases as well for other items whos rarity isn’t appropriately labelled or noted for how hard it is to obtain. Most of these are for items in most of these event specific or LS. Either being far too common or far too rare compared to their labelled status.
It’s slowly been skewing what is actually rare and what isn’t. However, easily acquired and obtainable materials shouldn’t ever be considered ‘high tier’ in the rarity chart.
Regardless, that’s just my thoughts and opinion.
Thing is, most of the material costs are set by players, not Anet. About a year ago, getting copper and iron and whatnot was a fraction of the cost of what it is now. These prices increased because of the demand of the players and the people who play said market.
This is why there is no ‘set cost’. Because as long as materials are controlled by players via the market, there will never be such a thing.
Just be thankful, Anet’s original intent was to remove both Glory and Rank.
Honestly I’ve been getting most of mine from PvP. Given that SoloQ gives 20 bags and TeamQ gives 40 on a win. Let’s just say I have enough blades for all 14 of my alts and then some right now. Only thing holding me back is the other mats and expenses. ;p

Also, its so cool!
Dude, spoilers. =/
Though I don’t see how Lore fits into that argument since alot of things regarding scarlet are Lore breaking. And, if they were already present in the game visibly, why would I be asking these questions? Cuz if they are there, SHOW ME, please?
Because otherwise, there is nothing and I doubt there will be more to support the questions. This is the end and we only learned the obvious.
I too am reading the Dark Tower and love the novels. But if there’s anything that would make me upset would be if Roland found the Dark Tower had no significance. Just a big ole cop out with no answers. That’s what I’ve felt has gone on at this time.

Seems to me you trapped yourself in all those community made theories that were never relevant in-game. Most of the things were answered if you pay attention, and the other part was not, because the story is not yet done.
I wouldn’t mind knowing which things were answered. Would be rather nice. So far all I’ve gotten was vague speculations as to what they might or might not be. Neither denied such answers are true or not.
Alot of the other questions I have likely won’t be popping up to get answered simply because the only one who knew the rhyme or reason to them was Scarlet.

Wait until the epilogue in two weeks.
I expect only a few questions to be answered in that patch. Not nearly enough to sate what’s needed. Especially considering its also coupled with alot of other changes to boot. I hardly expect them to go too deeply into what was really supposed to be the end here.
No doubt it will be just a follow up of what will happen next.

I will probably start off with that I never really liked scarlet, as a character or villain. The start of the LS was very rough and started quite sour. By the time she arrived, it didn’t bode well and her entry seemed to only make things worse for me and many others.
However… Things just started to begin unfolding as to her plot, her motives and how she managed to do all of this and why. I became interested in that part of the goings on, even if I still had a number of issues with her that can’t be overlooked, she had me intrigued at this point.
But sadly, little to late as we neared the end of the story. Things were just getting interesting and they had to end. The more major disappointment was that one of those last patches contained absolutely NOTHING in terms of learning anything. Which was a major disappointment.
Finally, we are at the end. Some of us know how it goes down too. But instead of having everything answered, all I seem to have is more questions. I’m not shocked or surprised in any way. I am disappointed that everything ended before it flowered so to speak.
Teased and taunted as to getting these answers only to have them stripped away and only be thrown more speculation and others with no chance of them likely ever being affirmed now.
In any case, this end was a mix for me. It meant there was some interesting things to look forward in the future, but at the cost of feeling empty and incomplete now. What did I learn? Why did I learn it? What was it all for? It almost seemed wasted getting invested. The one thing we did learn was going to be thrown at our faces no matter what we did, but the rest… Sometimes it’s the little things that matter.
I doubt the follow up patch will explain much, maybe a few but might as well throw down my questions as well. Perhaps you too had questions that didn’t get answered, throw them down here too.
-Was Taimi connected to Scarlet deeper than her technologic fascination?
-Why did the Nightmare Court aid Scarlet? There was no mention of motivation or gain compared to the others.
-What was Caithe’s secret? How does Caithe Know Scarlet?
-Why did her alliances continue to fight for her after each one was foiled miserably?
-Did Scarlet have anything to do with Southsun?
-How did she manage to get a Thumper in LA unnoticed?
-Why all the attacks and invasion when the goal could have been accomplished much more easily discreetly?
-How was Scarlet so accepted by the other races so easily to master their finest methods? Not to mention this went wildly unnoticed for something so strange.
-Where did she get all the resources to pull off all these elaborate plans?
-Why did Omadd help her and inevitably break her mind?
-If Scarlet had been successful, what would she have done then? What about the voices?
-How was she able to ‘bully’ the Aetherblades into fighting for her?
-Why the pointless invasions?
-Who was Mister E?
-Why so little involvement from the Orders and other factions?
-Why a multiracial Inquest faction? How did this help the composition?
-How did Queen Jennah amass such an army of Watchnights?
-What were the details regarding Zojja and Taimi given the relationship?
-What did the Inquest know about the ley lines prior to Thermanova? How did they discover it? Why did they discover it?
-What was the point of the Marionette in the grand scheme of things?
-Why did Scarlet free Mai?
-What did the EOTM have to do with Scarlet and her plans with Mai?
-Why did our ‘Heroes’ dismiss any opportunity to learn ANYTHING when presented with it? Especially when it mattered most.
This is just a small list but… you get the point.
As a decap warrior, I found a well played and spec’d Guardian is the biggest pain to deal with. The numerous blocks, stability and also heals they have access to make it quite hard to remove them off a point.
Honestly the ones I’d rank really good bunkers are Guardian and Engineer. Don’t have too much trouble removing MM necros or Rangers defending a point. Warriors built for it fair better than those two imo. The rest are kinda eh…
Evon Gnashblade - Hero of Lion's Arch
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Talonblaze.3175
This exactly. Gnashblade wasn’t using his supplies for anything except making a profit. He had to be conscripted under threat of death to get him to do the right thing. That’s no hero. That’s a greedy coward.
#TeamKiel
The fact the Lionguard were undermanned and under equipped was beyond pathetic. Evon shouldn’t have even been forced to hand over his goods if there was a competent captain and council to actually handle the military force they control properly rather than essentially mug a businessman to cover their kitten .
Would you give up your legendaries, ascended trinkets and gear just because you AFK’d in LA and someone decided that because you had the goods, you are to be forced to hand them over to others with no question or return reward? I doubt many would so willingly hand over things they grinded over constantly and worked for at a mere whim.
Evon Gnashblade - Hero of Lion's Arch
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Actually….Magnus is the leader of the Lionguard…
Kiel took her orders from him…for those that recall events prior to the election.“Captain Magnus “the Bloody-Handed” Irondawn is the norn captain of the Cormorant, and the current leader of the Lionguard."
Of all the people to listen to Kiel, Magnus should have been the first. Either she failed to suggest recalling all non-essential Lionguard back to LA, or Magnus like the rest of the council is just as daft as the rubble I’ve been salvaging heirlooms from for their mistakes.
Either way, Kiel’s fault or not, I doubt the captain’s council will be much of the same after this incident. For a faction that prided themselves as notable defenders even from attacks from Zhaitan, this is just… Sad?

I got 16 alts. XD Still in the process of equipping them all. Getting there though!
Granted there’s no telling how much for the new tiers of backpieces will be needed on the 4th.
Lol, I doubt Evon is able to shut down the gate.
Given his Ash Legion background, it’s rather hard to tell what he is and isn’t capable of.
Ash Legion Spykit is your best friend.
I think the GW2 jokes thread is somewhere else. ;p
Evon Gnashblade - Hero of Lion's Arch
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

I can only imagine the situation Kiel would have been if Evon wasn’t there. Undergeared soldiers and lack of reinforcements and supplies.
If Kiel hadn’t forced Evon, she’d be doomed and the failure would fall on the Captain’s Council (which does now include her).
Evon, even with him not wanting to help, even by threat of firing squad (yeah, real good guys with that threat) he does have the entire city in his debt. Something he could clearly hold over their heads and I bet he knows it.
Honestly, I think he is feigning his disgruntlement. LA was and just suddenly became alot more profitable. War brings profit. At the moment, its not yielding results. But it soon will. Either way, Evon has the advantage here. Once his conscription ends, I think we’ll see the crafty charr put Kiel under his thumb.
Plus, if they ever want to rebuild LA, guess who they are gonna need for proper trade routes and services?
why? chest you still get + the bags
Ah, I figured it was replacing them or whatnot with their whole phasing out thing. Jumped the gun I suppose.
Sigh… I was still trying to collect skins. =/ This slows things down to a crawl.
I saved mine for high rank levels and when i have some vacations to play!
glory boosters don’t affect rank level afaik XD
It used to, at least right?
I mean:
glory booster = + glory per game
to gain a rank lvl you need glory
Am i missing something?
Nay, Rank and Glory were always seperate, but were often confused with each other since the looks and icons were both purple. But they are both tracked separately and the boosters do not affect rank.
Those are from other players, when you pick up the trap power ups, you will also get these abilities to use on other players. The fewer the players, the less these will often occur. To prevent them from happening you can time your shield power up to block such attacks if you have one.
What they are planning to do is just a no go and would put the nail in the coffin for me. Doubt they will listen to the massive amount of negative feedback concerning their decision though. They never do when it comes to PvP.
Well they did listen in regards to rank and finishers, but I honestly don’t understand the current logic here either. Removing a reward system, implementing nothing till much later. Which is a problem, since it lowers the incentive to play.
Also, if they remove the vendors to boot instead of making it just cost gold, there’s absolutely nothing you can earn. No exchange tokens, no reward chests. Earning skins will be nigh impossible or extremely difficult. Even a bigger pain if salvage kits are also still glory oriented.
Coupled with the removal of Mystery coffers, the skin acquisition I think will only be limited to Solo and Team arena now. Making earning coin the only incentive to play in most regards.
Major Runes I often use in the Mystic Toilet for a chance to get Superiors. Beyond that, they are cheap slot ins until you find something suitable.
Other than that, no idea.
If they polished up on the mechanics and stuff a bit, I’d welcome it. But it was far too clunky and a pain when it was released. Most of those I saw in there were usually AFK for the meta as well.
It has potential to be interesting, given I liked the crossover of Zephyr like powers in a pvp environment.
Honestly, I like the unified teams by server group. This allows even low population servers to benefit from the action and not get completely stomped in most regards whilst still allowing notable competition.

When they raise their hands up above their head, they are about to drop a banner. It’s the same for the normal warrior skill, its rather telegraphed.

Selfless pot not useable in dungeons/fotm?
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Talonblaze.3175
Considering most consumables are blocked in dungeons/fractals I wouldn’t be surprised if there is only a ‘whitelist’ of allowed items. Chances are these potions aren’t one of them yet since they’re new.
Any long term investment item has been proven to suffer from this. First the picks, now the convenience areas. Just be aware that this will always be the case for anything that isn’t something like a booster, skin or consumable.
Cost for a single use superior sharpening stone = 12s for 30min or 24s an hour
The station is equivalent to Master iirc. Don’t know if that changes the budget.
I think they’d be useful for WvW in my opinion or large raid content that can be fairly lengthy. These last 1 hour instead of 30 minutes. The cost is a little meh, but it can have its practical purposes.
So, I’ve been looking over the escort reward merchants and found a number of useful things, figure I’d make a list here for those who are interested in it and maybe add their own if there is additional hidden merchants.
Moa Escort – Moa Feather from Tigg – Priory Camp
A consumable feather that grants a 30 minute speed boon, which seems to be 25% movement speed. 24 silver each.
Lighthouse Escort – Tuning Crystal Station from Ellyna Graidy – Whispers Camp
Acts the same as a Master version to be used by anyone in the area for 5 minutes. Lasts 1 hour instead of 30 minutes. 5 gold to purchase.
Dolyak Escort – Maintenance Oil Station from Evon Gnashblade – Vigil HQ
Acts the same as a Master version to be used by anyone in the area for 5 minutes. Lasts 1 hour instead of 30 minutes. 5 gold to purchase.
(Good Guy Gnashblade~ <3)
Ogre Escort – Sharpening Stone Station from Urmaug – Priory Camp
Acts the same as a Master version to be used by anyone in the area for 5 minutes. Lasts 1 hour instead of 30 minutes. 5 gold to purchase.
Lawson Escort – Scarlet Army Potion from Lawson Marriner – Vigil Camp
The 10% boost and resist; at 24 silver each, not really worth it.
The only one missing that I haven’t been able to report any rewards for is the Children Escort mission, so far it seems there is no bonus merchant item for completing this event, will update if reported otherwise.
Each of these merchants will only sell their goods after you successfully complete their escort mission.
Seems a good chunk of them were bought up prior, there are only 63 up for sale at the moment. Thankfully I had an extra one sitting around and cashed that one in rather quick.
I’m pretty sure the bug where if you die in vengeance and revive before it expires you die again. That was always a fun one for me. Twice the punishment.
The only time I ever used Vengeance was not for a kill because that usually was a failure, but often to save an ally. I know I’m dead. But I can at least save someone else.
They won’t be gone until the 18th of March.
But I’m also curious what the rank rewards will be. Since there’s no more bonus chests to yield skins, the vendors are being removed and the Mystery Coffers are going with them.
Still no word on Glory Boosters or forge mats either.
I, for one, welcome the Scarlet Era

I think the player character should be the Red Comet. Why would it have to be a- Oh! Ho! Well done, sir! I think any player character Charr should have a shot at joining Scarlet and be the Red Comet…Scarlet Comet?…Scarlet’s Comet? And then get to betray her again later.
As for Bright, that is obviously Logan. I mean who else could it be?
Ironically I think a blood legion CHARR would be fitting to taking Charr’s place. ;p
I can now unfortunately not unsee Logan pulling off the very famous Bright Slap sequences to everyone.

Nay, I think they learned from that. Upon entering LA, you will probably be moved to a story instance automatically just like in Kessex hills. Then, after completing it will you be returned to LA as per normal. Which you then will encounter the many overflows.
That’s just my take. Which I hope is right.
Why LA Won't Be Completely Destroyed
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath
Posted by: Talonblaze.3175
I highly doubt they’d toss out all that hard work for Halloween and Wintersday versions of the city just for a one time LS event.
At most the city will look slightly different, much like what happened to Kessex Hills, but LA as a whole will probably remain.
Not only that, but there’s PS missions attached to it along with several other areas in the city that currently wouldn’t have any place to go logically. (IE; Moa Racing, Fractals, WvW Portals, Dungeon Vendors etc.)
It’s a slight shame that this is indeed the case as it kinda lessens the blow of the effect of the whole event knowing that anything ‘catastrophic’ won’t be all that heartbreaking.
Here’s to another deadly event where we once again have to rebuild that darn lion statue. (With how many times its been repaired, I can only imagine that’s where the TP fees go.)
