Necro can safely be changed by fixing their blood traits scaling. This would open up their diversity slightly for both power and condi builds, you might even see Seraphs stats be run for something other than a meme.

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Vampiric (.006 healing power scaling) …Why ?
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Vampiric_Presence (.0025 for physical damage and .005 healing power scaling)

That makes 0 sense when you have things like https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Soothing_Mist that have a 1.0 scaling and another 1.0 from traits.

for all that’s holy fix this.

And sab would have the reason I returned as well, but if no new sab stuff then won’t bother.

They don’t want to put work into alot of things and wonder why people leave and don’t stick around.

This attitude is what is sending the game downhill.

They can only devote their time to so many things. What would you have them give up in favor of spending more time on SAB?

Until recently i would have said current events. But since that group got their stuff together with the caladbog stuff, i’ll shift to the 70+ people working on expac 2.

It’s one thing that can certainly be delayed considering LS is still an ongoing affair that likely will hinder the release of any expac anyway.

But hey, I’m not Mo i don’t set priorities within Anet.

So you’re saying there’s a chance.

There is a tiny chance that one year we will see it. It will not be this year since they would have mentioned it in the blog and we know resources are spread thin between more important projects. Knowing a desire exists for it, they would def have mentioned it for this season.

Would they though ?

They have a really weird policy now of no hype. Under promise and over deliver.

[Poll] How popular are raids at the moment

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: TexZero.7910

TexZero.7910

Not sure why raiding changed anything for you since if you choose not to raid your experience remains exactly the same.

As very minimum – he is already denied from content that could be made instead of raids. Like, you know, fractals were promised as “ultimate endgame instanced content”, but now changed to mere “gateway to raids”.

and raids are the ultimate 10 man end game content….

So you’d think that people at end game whether 5 or 10 man would do said content.

It actually makes me believe that 90% of the complainers never used to do fractals back at the old 50 scale and only started doing it when they thought fractals of the swamp was hard.

Edit for further clarity: Raids are available to everyone, but to be successful you have to improve and put in effort. Dungeons were available to everyone, but to successfully complete it just took time.

So what this boils down to is people not putting in quality time.

Like that guy you know (everyone knows this guy) who complains he doesn’t have a 6 pack but never goes to the gym/works out and drink nothing but beer ?

Yeah, you know sometimes you just gotta change to get what you want. There’s nothing wrong with that.

So explain what if anything changed ?

Because i sure as heck am not seeing anyone being isolated from raids if the put in the time to do so. Raids are available to everyone, it’s just a personal problem/belief/motive that keeps people who want to raid from doing so, not a game issue in the slightest.

Its time for Anet to look at history and understand the mistakes already made and solved by the 800lb. gorilla, WoW. WoW’s implementation of LFR has been very successful, and there is absolutely no reason why Anet has not yet implemented an LFR system with easier raids that give reduced rewards (ie: less Ascended currency and no path to Legendary Armor through the LFR). That way, casual players are more likely to complete the content, get something for their effort AND see the story. The only argument against this is some weird elitist mental block… which makes no sense since those that complete the real raid will be rewarded more, and have the opportunity for prestigious legendary armor.

WoW’s LFR was and still is very flawed. It’s initial lead developer Ghostcrawler even said as much.

Did it solve some problems, sure. But it isn’t a tool worth of the pedestal you’re hoisting it upon.

Assumedly may be a word (admittedly one the forum dictionary is unaware of), but in that sentence, it comes across as awkward simply because it’s not a word in common use. Therefore I’d recommend “presumably”, given it more accurately reflects what the sentence is trying to convey, and wouldn’t cause any head scratching.

Not in common use in our universe, does not exclude it from the game universe.

You know normally i’d be against this on principal because it’s main story….

However, i can see this being used to bridge the divide if executed properly.

Scale things back and make this a complete novice raid scenario (the “easy mode”) if you will. Make it strictly about telling the story while having some fun fights that aren’t completely oppressive to people who have been reluctant to raiding(For clarity sake lets say its a lane fight akin to DS or a tower defense section). Let it be as rewarding to unlock the mastery track but not so much as to hand out new/unique skins/LI.

2) Spirits to 10 players in range
3) Engineer not being pigeonholed into Static Discharge for power builds (better weapon damage/lower cooldowns/cast timers)
4) Power Necro less reliance on sub 50% damage modifiers (Increased weapon skill damage)
5) Ele i agree on, consistency would be nice but they’ll need to probably remove some of its utility to fix its damage output.

TexZero.7910

Where is this imaginary increase in difficulty?

True. There are so many people in GW2 who confuse mechanical depth with difficulty.

In an encounter every good mechanic is a tool the devs give the players to work with. If used wrong a tool won’t do its job and may very well even harm you. However when used correctly the task becomes almost trivial.

That is why expierienced and skillful players precieve the new T4 fractals as “so easy” because they use the full toolbox of mechanics to their advantage to go smoothly throuh the content.

However someone not using the mechanics (out of inexpierience or ignorance) will have a really rough time because the tools turn on them.

No, they know it. But they just don’t want to follow mechanics. Thats why they want an easy mode at dungeon difficulty. Raids are not hard but requires you to follow the mechanics to succeed and the majority just doesn’t like it. Thats why bosses get more ‘tendious’ when they got mechanics in the past which you couldn’t ignore.

You got be kidding me? Mechanics are tedious??
So a boss without mechanic that just sit there doing nothing and you just spam all your skills until it dies is what is fun
?
Boss that have almost 0 mechanics and are just HP sponge are the most boring thing you can bring to a game.

obv because those clique of people with toxic attitudes exist in this game.

Hard to be a ‘positive’ force when someone (or a group of someone’s) metaphorically slap you in the face. Is it your idea to hug and embrace them in response?

….And why are you so insistant on joining other peoples groups that you clearly don’t mix well with.

It’s not about being a follower, anyone can go with the status-quo. However, if you have an issue with it, it’s nut-up or shut-up time. Either do something productive to change the problem (in this case its forming your own group, with your own rules) or not adapting and quitting.

You may not like how it’s phrased but that’s exactly what’s going on. People get their feelings in a bunch and whine that players P,Q&R wont let them play instead of forming their own group like players P,Q&R did before them.

Gw2's Combat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TexZero.7910

TexZero.7910

Gw2’s combat consists of the soft trinity of damage, control, support. I admit, although I’ve given it a chance for a long time, I’m starting to reconsider it. With the release of HoT and the elite specs, gw2 has taken a small step towards the trinity. Why not embrace it?

Whether in dungeons, fractals, raids or the open-world, damage is still king. The soft trinity guarantees this. Why? Control doesn’t exist and support only exists to sustain damage. There really is no punishment for stacking as much damage as possible against enemies. The way gw2 does “control” is by disabling enemies with cc, knockdowns, stuns. However, disabling only lasts for a couple seconds and you lose control of mobs. There’s just no reliable way to draw aggro and mobs in this game so support can be more viable.

IMO, the hostility against the trinity just doesn’t hold up to scrutiny. A lot of people say that the trinity limits build diversity and roles, but look at what we have now: “PS/warr” “condi chrono” “DH GS/torch” All for the sake of MORE damage. Raids are yesterday’s dungeons. If you don’t follow the meta…gtfo.

It’s just NOT true when people say the trinity is limited or obsolete. The trinity is just a way to structure and organize combat. It works. There’s a reason why multiple MMOs have historically used it.

The conventional trinity is limited.

The way GW2 handles it technically allows for anyone to fill any role (some will fit easier than others) which makes them less limited however, just with any game an optimal play pattern (Meta) will arise and people will still complain about it…..

Raids prepare you for raids. Fractals are a 5 man content, and if you think they’ll make you better at raids, you’re wasting your time. And fractal devs should probably concentrate in making 5-man content unique.

If anything Nightmare CM is the best example of the difference in high level gameplay between 5 man and 10 man content.

Yes, they can make you better at dodging, dps management, and etc., but so does the rest of the content in the game.

That’s the point though.

Everything is a learning experience that culminates in their “toughest” content. No one said its content for everyone, that’s what the other pieces are for.

Everything from QD dodge device to Teq and Fractal 100 is prep for raids.

Core profession balance [suggestion]

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: TexZero.7910

TexZero.7910

What about classes whose elite spec replaces their mechanic instead of adding a new one (DH, Reaper)?

The best thing ANet could do is to heavily nerf all elite specs. Bring them in line with core traitlines, don’t allow an elite spec to be good at everything, make them compromise on some aspects, just like core lines do. Reduce their boon and condi output, reduce their damage modifiers to that of core traitline levels, reduce their utility to slightly above that of a core traitline.

Elite specs should always have been an optional playstyle, not a buffed up traitline that is almost always better than core lines.

You say this…But as someone who plays engineer it’s quite possibly one of the most frustrating things in the game that scrapper is a literal dumpster fire.

I know it sounds counter-intuitive now, but if they want specializations to feel good they all need to be strong. The downside is yes core feels like garbage (unless engineer) the brightside is you can only ever use 1 elite specialization. In that regard nothing will ever be as OP as people want to believe because you’re still heavily limited by the base professions existing lines.

I know some people like to bring up logic when it comes to underwater combat and skill not existing but if that was the case ele would be limited to 2 of 4 attunements (can’t have fire / lightning[without serious drawbacks]). Seeing as they can however it makes no sense not to give other classes their skillset even engineer flamethrower/turret could have real world analogs as merits for their existence.

I’ve said this in plenty of threads before now.

The common retort is, “Why should I” have to ? or “But i want my loot”….

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

I don’t raid, so me forming my own group wouldn’t do anything. I complain about it because its useless. The people enforcing the meta are the ones who aren’t good enough mechanically to raid. They aren’t good enough to adapt to anything, if it wasn’t in the meta battle rotation they can’t comprehend how it works. These people are a major source of toxicity, and also push away potential raiders who might want to try.

So even though it doesn’t affect me personally, I still hate it because its the cause of toxicity.

That’s an extremely shallow and biased view of the community you don’t have any interaction with because you don’t raid. There’s also something extremely wrong when someone who doesn’t raid, but refuses to adapt points fingers at the community for not adapting. Additionally how would you know something is toxic if you don’t interact with it, unless its a preconceived notion because you’ve never given it a fair chance ?

I agree that the meta is boring. But you have to remember that in GW2 its self imposed meta.

The meta is 100% player imposed, and frankly its annoying and disheartening. Too many players are inflexible, and don’t care <snipped> .

For every person that follows the “meta” there seems to be 2-3 that don’t and complain.

What i find wholly ironic, is that instead of forming their own groups that don’t follow the established meta they come here and complain.

For something that is a “self-imposed” community problem, it seems that the real issue is a lack of desire to form an anti-meta/freeform raiding community by those who feel isolated and shafted.

but to buy ascended from Fractals you need fractal pages and they are also time gated and limited.

and does it take you 3 weeks to get 1 piece of gear ? Because that’s what it takes for a raid.

Only for chest. There are pieces that can be done within one cap, without needing to wait for even one week. Also, you get magnetites from doing normal raids, but rewards from recommended low tiers aren’t exactly encouraging, so you’d be doing them only for pages.

at 150 a week (the max sans bonuses for salvaging extra/returning mini’s) you can get exactly 1 piece in 1 week(either shoulders, gloves or boots). In 2 weeks you can get 1 of the following including the above Helm and Leggings. In 3 weeks you’re able to get Chest.

Now then in that same timespan and even saving some days. You can get a chestpiece from fractals. it takes 24 pages (8 days of fractals) to do so. 8 days…Not 3 weeks 8 days.

Please tell me why this is such a bad shaft cause i’m not seeing it, especially considering it’s cheaper than crafting currently (if you exclude the cost of leveling)

A fun topic regarding Raiding on MassivelyOP

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: TexZero.7910

TexZero.7910

tldr: sometimes kicks are necessary. More dps slots should be power thief, power engi, and condi mesmer.

I think it is more nuanced than, ‘be a jerk’ or ’don’t be a jerk’. Wiping for 30 minutes then disbanding does no one any good. Sometimes there really is a single player who can hold a group back, such as not throwing bombs at Sabetha (ironically Sabetha seems to hit enrage frequently in my pug experience).

However as far as under performing dps goes, I think a good practice for this community to address this issue is to push people towards the higher dps yet easy rotation classes. In particular power thief, power engi, and condi mesmer. Too often we try to just stack 4 eles at encounters where ele isn’t that much better (note: for gorseval no updraft and kc I recommend you stack 4 eles lol). Both power engi and power thief clear 22k dps just auto attacking. And condi mesmer will often be top dps on a single target boss like cairn and matthias.

Yesterday i got kicked on my ele from group on Gorse because we did no updraft and instead of afking during cc phase i dropped some damage in, but our druid refused to heal me so i got kicked for going down and was told to not dps Gorse + all other “nice” things in direction verbal harassment.
I join another group (accidentally ended up with couple ppl i killed deimos with on first week) and we cleared all 4 wings without much a problem in one evening (ca. 3 hours?)…. This is gw2 raiding community for you. And this happens all the time, one group just flames and blames 24/7, i join other and we clear wings quickly and without any issues~

3hrs isnt quickly at all. I cleared w4 with a pug in 2 hours the first few days. If it took you guys 3 hours something is really off, especially now that the mechanics are known.

They said they cleared all 4 wings in 3 hrs. Not wing 4 in 3. Slight difference.

T1 fractals are too hard. Anet could hit a wider audience if they made an easier tier of fractals.

I have no idea what you are trying to say, but percentage of people who participated in T1 fractals is ~90%. Raids couldn’t even dream about such popularity.

You missed the satire.

They were saying clearly T1 has room for improvement, even by your own metric. If 90% do it, that leaves 10% that don’t for whatever reason they make up. It’s not on Anet to cater to every possible % of player type. It’s on the players to play what they feel like playing. If you truly feel like raiding, you’ll do it. Otherwise you’ll join a very loud vocal minority that constantly complains about difficulty even though the lead dev has come out and said raids were not designed with scaling difficulty in mind.

Anet was pushing PVP so this game could be the new league of legends. Now that they realize that won’t happen they are pushing raids because reasons.

It’s not about pushing one mode or the other, its about making the average cost and time investment for the items nearer to even. Before they were wildly out of touch with a rational time frame for acquisition (way to fast), now they are closer to what Anet feels is normal (excluding shelling out raw gold to circumvent time, and even time has a set value to it). It’s far from perfect, but it’s not nearly as bad as the hyperbolic statements being made are making it out to be.
