They are fun… until you play Vs T1 servers that have random 15+ player guild groups running through them >.<
In general though I do like the new area lol
I was in T1 (against Vizunah no less) last week and although at times the zerg or big groups ran through the area, they never stuck for long. I just avoided the big groups and got back to small group/solo fighting when they left.
I cannot thank ANet enough for excluding all kind of personal rewards from the bloodlust area. It was a brilliant move to ensure the general public will never stick there for long.
Wont happen. Would be nice, the costs would have to be insane though like 2,500BoH as well as 20g or something silly
Wont happen either.
Arenanet gave PvE’ers 2-3k free badges of honor in their achievement chests, badges they are still sitting on with absolutely no real purpose because they dont care about WvW.
Making Ascended available for Badges would just mean they spend their otherwise worthless badges on a “free” weapon. (who do you think has an easier time getting 20g?)
Arenanet essentially killed badges as a currency for anything valueable when they handed em out like this.
Another option would be to add a new say “Seal of the Lord” these can ONLY be gotten by killing Lords of Towers and keeps – these would only drop ONE per a tower/keep and you would need say:
2,500 Badge of Honor, 250Seal of The Lord, 20g and say 25 Ecto.
This would mean you would have to take 250 Towers or Keeps in order to get the Seals to purchase the Ascended weapons
After capturing 250 towers and keeps you should pretty much have the stuff to make an ascended weapon already…
I find it hilarious to reflect two unloads back to back at an invisible enemy, only to find them downed when they come out of stealth.
Mind = Blown
Never thought about this, but it’s the most brilliant and yet simple idea I’ve seen for a while.
Plus it should be easy as pie to code in.
ANET DO THIS!
Skyhammer is a gimmick map. There is a reason it was taken off the Team Arena rotation. Bring stability and/or your own pushbacks/launches or skip and go to the next map.
Yeah I get surprise rallies in hotjoin all the time, because as a hammer warrior I tend to damage a lot of players around the one I am concentrating on.
most of the EU population is german.
Do you have any evidence to support this?
Only personal experiences.
1/ Germany speaks German (duh)
2/ Austria has German as the sole official language
3/ In Switzerland and Belgium, German is a minority language
4/ In the Netherlands, Poland, Hungary and Denmark, German is the most important second language. In Belgium it’s the most important second language after French.
5/ Everyone who works in automation, steel industry, green energy, … on a technical or higher level has to know German to one degree or another since it is the primary language in those industries.Which means that German is the most important language in Europe, whether you want it or not. But hey, I’m a polyglot Belgian. I just try to accommodate. No one in the world knows my mother tongue, no one even bothers. Most in the world don’t even know Dutch is the majority language here. and just speak french for some reason.
Your example fails because the great majority of the German speaking people in those countries also know quite a bit of English aswell.
If there was one language you’d learn to be able to communicate with people all over Europe, which one would you choose?
I’ll give a hint. It’s not German.
EVE has 500k accounts. I would be surprised if it has even half as many players…
Also adding that the stacked sigil procs stay on you even if you stow the weapon into your backpack, effectively allowing you to equip yet another sigil.
So you know that the “Destiny’s Edge 2.0” has been sort of forming already, with Rox and Braham (and perhaps Lady Kasmeer), and that there is speculation who could fill in the positions of the Asura and Sylvari in that group.
What if the Sylvari will be Scarlet? What if we won’t get to kill her, but instead we somehow get her back into her senses and she joins the battle against the Elder Dragons.
Could you ever forgive her (either because her Villain Sueism or her ingame deeds) to confront the Elder Dragons with?
like why he evolved, how and who’s behind that (maybe Zhaitan isn’t fully destroyed yet and we’ll have to REALLY fight him some day).
It all would be just awesome.
Do you really want to know?
Because you might not like the answer, if it, like everything else in the last year, begins with an ‘S’…
omg, can we STOP with the Sylvari? getting SO SICK of Anet’s Sylvari swooning.. on top of them getting all hot & bothered over all things Sylvari (the 2nd least popular race) We have to deal with Scarlet, the most annoying character ever, AGAIN?
I respectfully disagree with your rant. I like Scarlet as a villain and I like Sylvari as a race.
You’re proven to be in the minority about the latter, and I presume about the former sentiment of yours, too.
No. No more remakes. We need to fill the blurred out spots on the map. We need new zones – complete, full zones filled to the brim with heart quests, dynamic events, metas and all that stuff we all loved to go through when we leveled to 80.
We also need new weapons, skills, professions and races. We need new crafting disciplines and more recipes added to the current ones.
We need new, complete dungeons with three or four explorable paths on top of the story mode.
We need Guild Halls, Guild vs. Guild PvP, player housing and more emotes, animations, items and tools for the roleplayers.
We need more game modes, more maps and more custom arena options in sPvP. We also need different map for each Borderlands and more functionality for Commanders in WvW.
What we don’t need is more of this “Living Story” bullstuff that doesn’t have anything to do with the Tyria we all have grown to know and love. We don’t need more minigames no one will miss after one week from their introduction. We don’t need more temporary festivals that involve timed events with nothing more than zerging with all your server + several overflows.
Give us what we really need, and I promise we will drown you in money.
Sadly I hate this too – i feel i have to log on every day just to keep up.
I can’t just power-through in the weekend to catch up on stuff i didn’t do over the week. It’s becoming frustrating and repetitive. Getting tired of all this nonsense.I just want to get Ascended armor done so I don’t have to do daily nothing for at least a year or so.
You don’t have to do anything. Just play the game and one day you notice you have crafted the ascended weapons and armor.
If you “power-through” your way to the Ascended it’s more than likely after you’ve crafted them you’ll just stop playing because you’re burned out.
Stop worrying about it. You should easily have full Ascended stuff way before the next tier of gear comes out.
Dungeons, once per day
Meta Events, once per day when the timer and overflows allow you
Crafting Ascended, once per day
Daily is daily :PThis WHOLE game is time gated.
Was it the intent of the designers to make the game “play it your way, but only when we tell you”?GW1 had little to no time gated content and this made people happy.
People now are sitting in LA, waiting for the next Meta(after doing their daily runs).Am I the only one that feels this way?
It means the people with 10-12 hours a day to play will not get certain things faster than me, a person who has to work 10-12 hours a day. Since people with a job are more likely to spend money in the gem store, it makes sense to cater to people with a job.
But you most certainly have the advantage of doing more daily stuff a day than me. I can do 3 dragons and the daily xor a few dungeons xor one fractal. You can do all of those and then some.
As “unfair” and brutal as this sounds, it’s probably what they’re thinking too.
People who play 8 hours a day (which is unhealthy by the way, get some fresh air) are not going to spend a dime in the gem store (because they can just farm gold and convert it into gems), while people who have only a couple hours a day to play (like myself) usually have a bit of disposable income to spend in the gem store.
If you put yourself into the developer’s shoes, whose intent is to make money with the game, which demographic would you develop your game for?
Do you already have the Mystic Clovers? The recipe will net you a bunch of T6 mats for every failure.
Either a bug or your friend needs to learn to transmute
If you are letting a warrior use Vengeance you deserve to lose the stomp points.
Because that warrior is always alone. Stomping actually happens in small scale skirmish fights aswell.
Downed state is utterly unbalanced and one of the reasons why points for stomp is stupid. Some professions have better means to stay alive while downed, decreasing or even flat out eliminating the possibility to feed points. And some professions have a flat out better way of landing a stomp, increasing the chances of gaining points.
Funny enough, both lists from best to worst are kinda similar…
Well you know, if the warrior isn’t alone and is still alive when Vengeance comes available, he should be revived by then.
Warrior has the worst downed state in the game (with Engineer). If you cannot stomp a warrior before Vengeance is up, you don’t deserve the stomp.
Period.
And yet people claim if WvW was normalized like sPvP is, it would become a ghost town.
Do they?
Do you?One of the most frequent requests is for better (i.e. more balanced against a wider selection of servers) WvW match-ups.
Why wouldn’t that apply at the player level as well?Personally I far prefer fighting enemies of comparable strength – that way when I win I know I out fought them and if I lose its because they out fought me.
Me too, but when you think about it, why do people run in zergs all the time?
Because that offers them the best rewards.
Why people don’t play sPvP?
Because they claim there are not enough rewards.
So I just put 1+1 and see that a lot of people would desert WvW if there were no phat loot Piñatas. I wouldn’t mind, personally, since I enjoy small fights over zergs, anyway.
What he said. They’re already climbing back though.
Yes I wouldn’t mind if we could downgrade mats too, in the mystic toilet.

Rally off an NPC or another player they had tagged earlier? Warrior Vengeance?
Dark Reverie is another vicious one in that if you die at the Shroom of Doom, not only do you have to waypoint out, but you’re forced to do Morgan’s Leap all over again just to get back in.
You’re talking about the one near the top, which looks like it shouldn’t be jumped on at all? Yeah I’ve died to that one way too many times.
There is the “Effect LoD” switch, but no, you cannot tone them down enough, unfortunately.
1 hour and skipping stone complete.
Admirable. I gave up the first time after around 15 minutes. On second try I finished it in probably another 15. It’s pretty unforgiving, but you can “cheat” it by having stability.
Yeah it does make sense to unload maps that are not used. I can believe that. Never go to Southsun to harvest so I haven’t noticed.
i only do certain jumping puzzles that give me the highest ammount. per each lvl 80 char i usually make kitten fragments doing those certain jp.
And that’s the sad part, because there are dozens of brilliant JPs out there of which only a handful are worth doing for the reward itself. They should go through each and every one and balance them manually. I don’t know what algorithm they used originally but it’s laughably broken.

Yeah, stat buffs are a great way to encourage open-field fighting. It makes the game extremely fair and balanced
I can see that they maybe upset the field when two zergs clash, but having been smashing a ton of “high-ranked” players in the bloodlust area I can say the problem within the zergs is not the stats…

Looked like a good matchup in the first 24 hours, but now it’s just crushing… Too bad
Well I’ll probably keep looking for worthy fights in the bloodlust area. Meet you there!
Improve capture drops so people will start defending even less? Isn’t WvW already enough trading keeps/towers as it is?
I wish my server’s zergs would realize that. I’ve been getting them 2+ buffs all the time and last time I ran with the zerg everyone was still happily whacking the downed enemies dead with their weapons.
Such a waste…
Hats off to Riverside already. Your ascent in ranks has been great. No doubt you will pass us this week to the well deserved 3rd place (or even higher!).
2+ hour queue after reset last night in my matchup (Piken/Elona/Jade Sea). Never got in last night.
I’d like to add that this area really shows how some people have no idea how to PvP. I’m seeing bronze ranks who are absolutely horrible in 2v2 or similar small fights. Shows pretty well the rank doesn’t tell much about the skill of the individual, but rather just how long they’ve been running with the zerg.
Zenguy do I understand correctly that you like to roam but don’t want to fight people in small groups? What do you do as a roamer then? Ninja cap camps and run when enemy players come around? Or am I missing something here?
And I prefer small fights in interesting terrain. Good thing now with the bloodlust ruins we can have both
Had a great time this morning at JS BL. In the end there were only 2 of us Pikens in the area (me with my warrior and he with his guardian). Very nice 2v2/3/4 fights all the time. I think we managed to win most of the encounters where it wasn’t 1v3+. Respect to the JS people who stuck around and fought (and died) even when it started to go downhill for you.
I think what he means Tom, is just what you said. What is the point of trying to find fun in a battle that is already lost. He can log and go do something more productive.
(edit: I was replying to the first post, so kinda a moot point)
Yes, but it’s exactly what he should do, if he doesn’t find the gameplay fun and so should everyone else.
Of course if despite all this, WvW player amounts still keep rising it tells the devs a lot of people still find it fun enough to spend their time on.
And since Devon has already said that negative forum posts are discounted IF WvW participation keeps increasing, the only way to change bloodlust or the server matchup issues is to NOT PLAY.
Well that goes without saying. If you don’t find the gameplay fun anymore you should stop playing, period. Playing a game you don’t like playing sounds like a drug habit. It’s not healthy.
I agree. Sadly there wont be any drastic changes this year, and they make much more profit in gem store with rapid updates tied with “living” story.
Rapid updates are not bad, if they are systematic and tell a coherent story. The stuff we have got this far has been far too disconnected from the lore that we experience when playing the game and leveling our toons.
Sounds like a bug, so you should post it to the Gameplay Bugs forum. Mine works just fine, although I haven’t used it since the permanent super explosive finisher came out.
So this leads to… if you are severely outnumbered and cannot take back the Ruins… just log out. Its the best defense.
THAT is what is wrong with this whole thing.
But when you think about it, logging out will still end up to you losing the match. If you stay in, at least you get to play and maybe even have fun, which I believe is the reason anyone plays, or should play computer games.
Sure, if every fight is 1v5 then it gets old pretty quickly, but as I said that is more a problem of ANets terrible matchup system which pits servers as much as 4 tiers off against each other.
I am against this.
You can drop banners at a ridiculous rate and they are quite cheap.
These will give gold sellers more advertisement promotion.
What gold sellers?
+1 for the effort. You must have been exhausted after your ginormous feat
Hope the emptiness is result of people not playing due to the bloodlust buff
That is the sole reason i have not stepped into WvW since the patch.Remove kittened stat boost and i (and many other players i’m sure) will come back
Could be, but I would bet it’s the new Tequila.
After all, on invasion weeks WvW was empty too, except for those 15 minutes between the invasions.
It doesn’t work like that and you know it.
Go WvW…
And no, no more new capture points please..
Guess where I got the idea from.
I love the bloodlust area, but I’d like a bit more controlled environment for a change
Indeed would like to see a tunnel/underground type map with tighter confines. Diversity is always good.
Also would like to see a map that has more than 3 capture points and that is much larger than the current ones.
