Just one question, did NCSoft assign all thier good PvP developers to Wildstar and Carbine studios? Because thier systems in closed beta with Elo, 2, 3 & 5 man arena, ranked and Unranked battlegrounds seem to put GW2 to shame.

I personally think Ll points should be shared across the whole team, regardless of where they are or what they do. It would make life much simpler. Still record the stats and breakdowns, but a team of winners should all be Equel on points regardless of role.

The poor matchmaking and lack of solo/team que and corresponding ladders is the single biggest driving force behind poor player retention in GW2. It’s amazing that people still come out of the woodwork and tell you to “find a team or don’t play” and wonder why the player base has shrunk. It’s simple really, those people followed your advice and just stopped playing.

I personally can’t understand it. I’m no programmer, but an effective matchmaking rating and que system really can’t be that hard to implement considering some of the the content that’s already been added to GW2 would have been pretty complex development wise. Simple things keep players happy but balance changes, either good or poor don’t address the problem of lack of infrastructure.

Feel free to tell me not to play or find a team. I havent logged in for almost 3 months and all my friends and guild mates have moved on to greener pastures. I check the forums for changes and sadly Anet continues to disappoint.

played this game for 3 month, then nothing more new/fun to do.
what would make me come back:
1. game mods like ha, gvg
2. more weapon skills….

More than a nice addition, it should be a staple. At least the ability to have 3 saved sets of everything and sell additional slots for gems. It would be useful for every facet of the game.

I disagree. 5-6 hours a day is t needed to be competitive. Sure, it could help and if we were going pro maybe, but in the GW2 scene, from a casually competitive point of view, an hour or 2 a day for practice of any sort is more then enough.

I got some bad news though. Count me out in the short term. I wish you guys all the best but unfortunately I have to travel for work a fair bit and I’ll be offline for the whole of June. I’ll hit you up in August if you still want another player by then (hope you won’t need).

Aussiearcher is definitely on NA server. I’ve played a few tourneys with him, very skilled player and easy going on teamspeak.

Fri/sat night NA tourneys work out to 8am or so AEST sat/sun, that’s the best time IMO.

What would you like to see most in GW2 PvP? no matter how selfish or absurd or unlikely it is to ever happen. Post your top 3 personal wishes for PvP in gw2, maybe devs will glance over and get some ideas ;p.

Mine:
1. Dueling in HoM
2. Ability to use skills while jumping/falling
3. Ability to use town clothes in combat

Out of curiosity Neglekt, if you could only choose 3 things to change/implement in sPvP, would that actually be your list? Not that I dislike your suggestions, but would you actually put those as the top 3 priorities of changes needed in sPvP?

Each to thier own of course, I like your ideas but can’t see how they could take precedent over real meaningful changes like solo/team que with ladders and plenty of other suggestions already mentioned in this thread.

The only glaring issue regarding big tournaments is the time difference. Most of the time it’s 2am onwards in Australia when these big tournaments start, unless so done starts an oceanic tournament which wouldn’t actually work IMO.

I think touching base with Aussiearcher would be a start. He’s organizing the Mistleague tournament and is also Australian (obviously).

If you need a 5th and actually have an organized practice/team play time structure I can be coaxed in to coming back online.

I prefer VOIP aswell, hate typing.

My playtime is nights, anywhere from 7pm Sydney time just about any day of the week.

Right now we are using Esport teamspeak to VoIP. And so far we have only 2 in the team, still looking for more.Would be great if we can team up and tourney sometimes. Cheer.

I have a full teamspeak server with a tonne of slots available. I’ll see if I can get on and PM you. I can play bunker or hybrid guardian and phantasm Mesmer (I can relearn shatter if needed).

I just want structure. Give me set times to login and play and I’m happy.

Solo que with visible matchmaking rating (by extension, a proper team que with thier own leaderboards)

A shift away from NPC reliance. Not in terms of combat, but the vendor NPCs. It’s annoying with the rune vendor, Sigil vendor, hotjoin vendor and tournament vendor. Integrate it all into the PvP UI somehow. I want to que a tourney from anywhere in the game and be back there when it finishes.

Most maps even if they are conquest. I would like 10 maps by end of 2013 at least with tournaments being maps randomly generated.

Banning leavers is actually looking at it from the wrong angle completely, but not unjustified.

The angle we should look at it rewarding those that don’t leave whilst minimizing the negative effect that a leaver has on those that stay without making it exploitable.

Look. I said in my post that GW2 seriously lacks systems and infrastructure. Yes, some of those better things could have definitely come across from GW1. As far as combat goes though, this is an ARPG in most respects. It is not supposed to be GW1 with better graphics. The combat, movement and effects are light years ahead of its predecessor “in my opinion”.

If Arena net can get the right infrastructure in place, this game will be amazing. It might not be your cup of tea, but that’s ok aswell.

Why am I here? Because I want to be. I enjoy playing this game even with some of its faults, I just don’t play it at the moment due to no solo que and poorly implemented MMR. Once those are fixed, I’ll be straight back in.

There’s plenty of people out there that tried GW1 and didnt like it, quite likely more then than the people that did.

We are all entitled to an opinion, mine is that GW1 was terrible and felt as clunky as they come. Yours is different, funny how both are valid.

You know how they have Karma Vials in PvE? I want them. To add EXP vials to tournament win chests. Every vial is worth 25% of a level in PvE and only comes from winning (chests).

Sorry lads. Can’t agree. Gw1 was atrocious. Point and click, No jumping and had a high learning curve that unless u played from the start it was almost impossible to make any sense of the game without outside website information.

It also looked extremely weird watching your characters move. The skill system was interesting, and the game modes were fun but that’s about it.

GW2 seriously lacks systems and infrastructure, but outside of that it is light years ahead of GW1. It certainly is far from perfect and quite different but here’s a red hot tip you can take to the bank, Arena Net knows some of you will dislike this game.

That’s why they didn’t shutdown GW1. Feel free to go back and play that.

Whilst your on your way there, take your whinging with you.

Try Smite. It truly is a quality game with really good infrastructure. Full ladders, solo and team que, tournaments etc and all in 3rd person view. 36 classes (gods) and counting.

Rank 30 in sPvP but that’s irrelevant anyway. I have played other classes actually. I used to play a warrior. Did I stop because of balance though? No. I stopped playing warrior because I played it all through beta and realized I needed a change. I am normally species as a DPS Guardian, far from optimal and certainly no bunker. My Mesmer isn’t Shatter spec either.

I’ve dabbled in necro, Engi and Ranger but besides the Engi, none of them appealed. I despise pet management and reliance and I’m not very partial to range classes either. I prefer melee, with Greatsword Guardian being my personal favorite.

Expansion? The game is out less than a year and sales are plummetting. I don’t think the NC Soft rep they talked to has a clue. If they try to push out an expansion now it is just jumping the shark.

Fix what’s there first, then MAYBE you can talk about expanding.

Sales are plummeting? GW2 has sold easily over 3 million box copies, making it one of the highest indavidual selling MMO games ever. It smoked SWTOR and Rift, Tera, Aion and most likely Neverwinter aswell.

I don’t think Arena Net are overly concerned.

The more premades and guild-teams you have the more competitive this game becomes. GW2 forces ppl to soloQ because the game lacks of a LFG-Tool and splitting them into 2 regions, 20 servers. That’s not healthy. And insulting players that want to play on a competitive level is not right. It’s A-Net fault of being incapable to generate a working SoloQ.
I know hundreds of ppl that actually wanna play in a premade but they just can’t find ppl for it due to this splitted playerbase. Then they are forced to soloQ and getting frustrated because soloQ is in a horrible state. Ergo they stop PvP or rarely play it.

I think my intent was lost among my context. I wasn’t insulting him, I was bemoaning the lack of a healthy solo que option for those times that forming a premade isn’t viable. I actually agree that HOTM should be inter server wide to better facilitate group making, so they can play in the team que that is needed.

Neglekt is right, but, and its a big but, there are numerous systems out there in the MOBA community that could work well within the sPvP format. I can’t be bothered going into them all but solo, duo and team que, seperated ladders, visible matchmaking rating, goodwill (Smite), tiers, better item acquisition (less NPC interaction) and being able to party and que from anywhere is just some of them.

Balance is, and was fine. Small tweaks are good for the game and Anet is doing a great job in that regard.

PvP infrastructure still has a ways to go, but much improved over what we had in Jan.

You have completely lost your mind in my opinion. GW1 is light years ahead of GW2. The only thing great about GW2 that’s missing from GW1 is the ability to jump and the level of graphics. GW2 is a gorgeous game but the game play sucks compared to GW1. The combat and skill system in the original game blows the doors off of this Dynasty Warriors hack and slash of a game that is called GW2. It took a lot of time and practice to play at a very high level in GW1. In GW2 any super noob with the right class/build can click “play now” and be extremely effective.

Like I said, each to thier own. The skill system in GW2, the GvG etc was a nice concept but combat, movement and fluidity were out the window. I much prefer the action gameplay of GW2, it just needs more infrastructure behind it.

I’m very surprised that the majority still prefers to have small balance changes, considering the ‘class balance’ votes shows the game really needs some obvious big changes.

Because small changes is the “obvious” answer. However it’s interesting that there’s a big number of people demmanding big changes.

How is it the obvious answer?

It’s politically correct. “Hey, let’s do small changes and see how the meta evolves, let’s not rush into nerfs & buffs and make mistakes” <— very valid opinion

However I think a few big changes should be made to certain professions & builds.

Because balancing with a scalpel is far better then balancing with a sledgehammer.

Yes PvE i soooo balanced…..
And that because obviously they consider PvE ans the most important part so PvP is unbalanced to preserve PvE balance…..

Infact they keep buffing warrior that is UP in PvE thus resulting in being OP in PvP.

Same with ele that is OP in PvE/WWW but then became UP in PvP.
