Contrary to popular belief, all the classes are actually fun and viable in ways. You need to work at it though. You do t really see players who only dabble in all classes rocking the rankings. Pick a flavor that suits you and learn it inside and out, as they say, the rest will come.
Top players are top players for a reason. They generally play the same class religiously and actually push it to its limits. Take Hman for example. He is an exceptional warrior player and any team would be mad to knock him back for a tournament on thier team.
Admittedly he has changed to ranger, point still stands though.

Really heavy condi builds and high burst wreck me as Phantasm (which is all I play, GS & S/P) depending in utilities.
In a team spec u need portal and signet of illusions to be relatively useful. In a 1v1 build I would swap them out for arcane thievery and null field which would help a bit more but still, a HGH Engi or condi ranger will still eat you up though.
D/D thieves can wreck me aswell if they get a backstab off.
More maps plus a random generator for tournaments would be sweet.
I hope we get at least 3 more before the end of the year. Variety is the spice of life.
As interesting as that is Teutos, in most cases underwater combat is a non factor.

Probably rare but something like Kaypuds build, or another top level player out there rolling DPS Guardian.
I’ve wanted to do a DPS guardian guide with a certain NA player for awhile, it’s the sword/focus + scepter/torch build (similar to old oppa dps guard build). I’ve just yet to get around to recording with him, I can be rely flaky sometimes lol (plus I tend to agree to help everyone with their projects, a ton of tournaments lately, so I can get sidetracked by those a bit).
I’m hoping to do ele or thief next, I have a few EU players in mind that I’m going to try and get for those ones. After that, my hope is that someone will have found a stable warrior build that we can put out there.
To answer your question though, DPS guard is something that you can expect to see in the near future, but the next vid will probably be for Ele. Thanks for watching!

You and your mysterious build aren’t even on arena nets radar a d neither would your complaint be.
With all the ledges and high ground, I find that ranged dps really helps to crush potential orb runners and people roaming between points. At the initial gate open, if u get 2-3 ranged players on a ledge focus targeting, u can drop people easily and stop orb pickups.
I actually find Phantasm Mes with greatsword zerker to be perfect here. It’s fire and forget and stops orb pickups and does good AoE damage on the team fight.

Broah, let me explain how builds works.
You start playing the pvp. Or you just switched to a new class in pvp.
*You copy your build from youtube,friends that want to tell you, webpages….etc
*After a while you start getting experience and you chose the build you prefer to play with.
*After another while, you start evolving that build into your own personal build.
(Most of people probably even tried making their own build from the grounds up, sadly, most of that attempts were a fail. The ones that were not are the build we know now.)
My point still stands. Either play in tournaments or non spectator matches if you think it’s such a big deal.
Every competitive game in the world allows for build visibility by spectators. It’s going to be a given, no amount of whinging will change that.

I don’t disagree. The problem is definitely a system issue. This isn’t a new thing though, free 3 round tournaments had this issue from the start.
I don’t even know if thy will bother to fix it. I would like to see a good will system like in Smite in addition to deserter panelties.
A proper solo que would be a fkn good start though.
Strange to think a competitive match that only takes 15 mins tops has people that que and bail.
People do 2v2 in wow for longer then that.

Even though I doubt match making even works as it is, I think a rating reset would break it even further.

In a game that has no seasons, no working matchmaking and allows teams to play against uncoordinated solo players all day.
Any game where the top 20 – 50 people have a win ratio over 75% screams poor matchmaking.

It’s got absolutely nothing to do with being Australian. I’m also Aussie and never had an issue with lag or dc’s.
If template swapping is allowed after seeing the enemy team and map you are playing on it will just be a case of build wars.
A well timed placement of portal and a Mes can escape just about any fight. It’s a bit of a waste but useful at times.
Meh, lags and disconnects are rare, and if not, then it’s your own problem. People who DC but don’t log back in or are inactive for 1min or more should be Insta kicked and have a debuff.
Admittedly, it’s not thier fault the game sucks and isn’t worth playing, but if you que up for a tournament, at least make an effort.
Or do what I do, don’t bother logging in at all until its fixed. Why be part of the problem? Haven’t played in almost two months and barely miss it at all.
Selecting what map u want for tournaments is even more kitten then not having them randomized.

Here we have a game that’s supposed to be competitive. A “tournament” mode which is the only competitive mode with a ladder for GW2, and if you don’t like the game, just leave. Sure, apparently you lose rating, but no one cares anyway.
It’s the first competitive game I’ve seen that has this plague of people who either leave or que and don’t even bother to play. It’s hilarious that’s been this way for 8 months lol. Free tournaments had the exact same issue, but hey, that’s what you get when you let premades farm solo players.

Sounds like a good nerf to me. To play a Guardian with a scepter then complain. Worst range weapon I’ve tried so far.
Surely this isn’t that big of a deal? Either play tournaments where this no spectating, avoid those CAs that do or get over it.
All competitive games have this functionality.
Nowadays it’s standard to have observe-mode / custom servers and leaderboards in a game. They released GW2 just too early with the consequence that 80% of all players left after 1 month. So now they working under pressure to implement these futures for the rest of us. Imagine if custom arenas/spec-mode and leaderboards were there after 1 month of release. Would be a completely different game.

Don’t blame NCSoft IMO. They are also publishing Wildstar and Carbine studios aren’t releasing the game without leaderboards, ranked and Unranked battlegrounds, 2,3& 5 man team arenas all with built in Elo ratings. There’s even a warplot mode for building forts etc in pvp and fully customizable player housing.
Arena net made thier decisions on thier own.
You aren’t forced to pay for dueling at all.
You a renting a fully customizable server, where you can duel if you wish. You can also do lots more with it.
Just use the empty servers if dueling is all you want
Tournaments are random. CAs will have actual teams in real tournaments and casting.

No matter the MMO, every patch day in history has had teething problems especially if there are new features being implemented.
It’s called custom arena beta for a kitten good reason, to work out the bugs on the live client. If you can read, you would have known this already.
Don’t whinge about it. Play and provide meaningful feedback instead of rage posts. A PTR is a waste of time, bugs still occur when released into live status under heavy load.

Fair dinkum, never seen so many whingers congregate in one place until I found the sPvP forum.
The light at the end of the tunnel is definitely dim, but without people willing to go that extra mile it will never take off. No point telling them they are wasting thier time because you never know, 2-3 good patches and we could be somewhere.
As a side case, look at Forge. It released and got slammed and no one liked it. It re-released on steam recently with changes and is averaging 6k views on twitch. It’s on the up and up. Anything can happen.
We just need to wait and see.
I don’t get the fascination with the cookie cutter builds. You can almost make any weapon on any class work relatively well in this game. You just have to adjust your play style a d your role in the team.
TLDR: don’t wait for buffs to non cookie cutter weapons, make a build and work with it.
The live game is the test server.

Tbh, observing custom arenas will likely prove much better. Tournaments are random at best where as CAs will probably have community run tournaments that will be advertised and possibly shout casted
