There isn’t a subscription fee for this game, so the number of PvE’rs isn’t quite as important as in other MMO’s. Give us PvPers something to spend money on (private servers, a way to use our dye’s in PvP so we actually care about Dye packs, hell, anything) and actual, solid PvP and I’ll gladly drop 15 bucks a month into Anets account.
Agree about giving PvPers a tie in to the rest of the game or shown dyes anything to spend a little money on and help the PvP community expand.
I dont think Thief takes months to master.
Warriors still have to be decent and have the right weapons/utilities to beat a thief.
warrior has a harder time against classes thiefs can still insta gib.
Also caltrops condition thief can wreak a warrior btw, in your months of ‘mastering’ the thief class have you tried all the builds?
p.s. I dont play a warrior my main is Necro my alt is a thief.
the fundamental flaw with thieves and why you can’t compare them to games like LoL is thief takes ZERO skill to put out massive damage. In games that are actually e-sports that balance around that, it takes high level skill to play the class at a high level (shocker) thus leaving casuals balanced since they can’t do the same thing the pros are doing. In GW2 it’s like push 3 buttons and insta-gib anyone that doesn’t have defensive CDs up. it’s dumb.
By that logic it takes less skill to survive a thief.
A thief has to use 3 buttons to kill you.
You have to have 1 defensive cooldown.1 < 3

Really, 1 defensive cooldown is all it takes to kill a thief or get away from one? LOL you are the worlds worst gamer if thats all it takes for you to lose on a thief.
In reality 1 defensive cooldown followed by perfect skill rotations of multiple buttons weapons swaps utilities etc… and you might get away from a thief or kill one (perspective of a necro).
If you dont have a defensive cooldown you are dead.
The PvE players spend more money, and there are alot more of them.
It would also be nice to have something other than the current PVP map style. 4 different maps but exactly the same game. hold point 1, 2 and 3 first team to 500 wins. It doesn’t matter how many maps you have if it is always the exact same game.
A bit of variety would be nice.
Honestly you could have 12 maps and if they are always the exact same theme they get really boring really fast.

I know, right? Like why am I constantly falling down this kittening hole every time I dodge. Why is this map so small? Do the ranged classes get a map where the melee dps spawns inside a barrel and we shoot at them?
You mean the Clocktower point where it takes 5 seconds for people to reach your ledge, the Graveyard point where it takes about 3 and the Keep point where it takes nearly 20?
Yet close range burst dominate the old maps also, more so on the new map. Its a bad map terrible for ranged chars. Not just against burst try to drop a bunker with all the LoS resets as a ranged class on the new map lol.

This is not a give us monks/healers thread. Just my opinion as a long time MMO pvper.
Healers classes are perhaps the greatest buffer for bad balance in a pvp game. When people played poorly there was always the healer to blame, or on the otherside of the coin a great healer can carry average players and help cover some of the bad builds and slow reflexes of the others.
GW2 there is no one Monk/Healer to blame for dying. That leaves two posibilities.
I lost because of poor play/player skills gaps.
I lost due to poor class balance/game design.
I hate to say it but alot of the issues are balance/game design. You take away healers and a game must be perfectly balanced and I’m talking perfect because even a small power gap in a class is overwhelming.
That said for PvE the no healer gameplay is alot of fun, this is one of the most fun PvE MMOs I have played and I tend to hate PvE. For PvP its one of the worst MMOs I have played really need other pvp game modes cant balance for one mode not with the way the classes are built right now.
Nothing new its ok.
Guardians, Engs are alot better tho.
What makes well builds good is bad players there is a fair number of melee faceroll idiots so it melts them. I find Free Tourny games 1 basicly Spvp if you are pugging agaisnt other pugs…. Ask yourself an honest question howmany game 2s and 3s are your winning? Good players just dont stand in wells.
I find Rabid better necros healing scaling is not very good. Also the Shamans PvP amulet is not exactly the same as the PvE one as Haley pointed out.

Dont try to just burst other classes do it better.
When I run power its spectral wall + spectral grasp 3rd slot depends if there are alot of stun burst classes in the match its spectral walk if its bunker city I bring a well.
I always use staff as my off weapon greater marks sooo good in a condition or power build. 30/x/20/x/x is my base power build in most cases all depends on what utilities im using.

Necros as they stand are not a top competative class, there is even a thread in the spvp forum with hard data backing it up.
For PvE play what you like any class works.
Deathmatch is alot more fun….. and I cant understand why they have no dueling.
Deathmatch must be added and quickly I like the game but am finding fewer and fewer friends playing they are sick of spvp and tpvp just like I am.

Oh if they remove conditions right before they die sometimes you dont get anything if you dont attack them again or stomp. Its rare only happened a few times to me.

I wanted to qoute that, I used to play on normal NA hours but have been working night shift the last month… What I have noticed during Euro hours is not as many Thiefs, Mesmers and Eles but more Gaurdians Necros and Wars. The numbers of Engineers and Rangers seem the same. I play a Necro so really see the boost in necro numbers during Euro hours… never see them in NA hours.
This data makes perfect sense to me and I think its very close to what a total global population might be.
Conditions will get you glory, however farming glory for fast kills direct damage classes are faster.
Necro is extreamly boring unresponsive slow class. I would say ditch the necro take a break for a week or two chose another class like the Mesmer or Gaurdian, ele or eng if up for a challange.

You put alot of effort and time into making the vid… but man need to work on short and too the point no more then 10 min vids one topic at a time.
The issues are more other classes then necros…. some classes have massive numbers of avoiding damage leaving the fight or insane burst.

Likely they are people that beat undergeared kids in WvW or some rank 3 mesmer in spvp lol.
That said it was a good patch for necros I dont understand your complaints, yeah we need more but at least some bugs were fixed and other classes were looked at. Anet should continue on the path of smart small changes and bug fixing in 6 months it will be a solid balanced game.

They don’t hate necros they just did not do much testing. Its hard to know what is truly OP and what is weak until you get a ton of players competing looking for any edge finding the OP classes and combos for you.
Two wells + Flesh golum works with any power build.
I like it more with 20% recharge on the wells I tend to go more tanky 20/0/30/20/0
Yes you must DS to get top play out of a necro.
No you do not need to spec into the DS line to play a necro well.
My best power builds use DS only as an O-ship mechanic I put zero points going into the DS line and play it like Xel says.
My best condition builds use DS alot and i spec to 20 or 30 into it.
A glass cannon power build would use DS (I think its a terrible build because I have played real cannon classes)
Are you a casual gamer that does not care about your classes power level vs other classes? If you don’t care and just like the class roll one.
If you like having a balanced strong class for PvP WvW and PvE roll something else.
All you people saying necros are great strong etc… need to stop it and play other classes seriously like a mesmer. You would get better results with half the effort.
People like Kravick and Gamefreak are who you listen too, you dont listen to players that only played one class. (am talking more then an hour trying other classes in Spvp and Tpvp)

My numbers are the same after testing, I wanted to see if Axe Number 2 did get 10% damage buff and if that would justify using it over a scepter in a power build now.
Damage is the same for other skills. Stealth buffs are not going to happen if Anet buffs something for necros they will post it because of how pissed the necro players have been lately.
Good patch, other then losing stability but they lowered downstate health that helped some.
Now you are talking your utilities are off however…… , spectral wall, spectral grasp, well of corruption (or suffering or spectral walk)
Pro tip for spectral wall, if you fear the target back into it thats 20 stacks of vuln almost instantly. (some melee will actually run past it again and have 25 stacks lol) I like to spectral wall, spectral grasp fear back into wall as an ideal open.
Yes it works and is fun if you are good at laying down marks quickly and on target. I have tested a power crit based version and a condition crit based version.
0/20/20/0/20 is the base starting point the other 10 points can go to bring something to 30 if you like.
For most situation I like 0/20/20/0/30 what you want is soul marks + spectral recharge…. DS lasting 25% longer is not as good as soul marks for the staff build. Path of midnight over spectral recharge is also a good options I like it more when i take near to death, only must have is soul marks.
Its really a staff + DS build I like the conditions version more because it gives a condition build lots of lifeforce building skills something a scepter build really lacks…. the power crit version is ok but honesty dagger or axe + wells will serve you better. That said because my pve gear is all exotics knights I run the power crit version to great effect (got bored of wells).
Is it as good as a pure scepter conditions build? Probably not but the gap is not that huge and I find scepter boring.
Perfect I was about to settle for Con + prec + toughness gear as my second set for necro.
Now i can get what i really wanted and I want that ring
Faster greandes, thats a buff then you have the damage nerf…. the faster grenades is a buff for spvp and because damage was not nerfed in WvW/PvE is was a very nice buff.
Spvp alot of skills and classes had damage nerfs and tanking nerfs. With the Guardian bunker bug/exploit fixes and Eles super heal mode nerfed Engineers just moved up a great deal they were good bunkers before might be top dog now.
Calm down. Read what happened to the other classes it was a good balance patch.

Two people working on balance is very good, balance is not the same as bug fixes as someone with basic comprehension skills has already pointed out.
The patch was well done. Anet tackled a ton of balance issues, no huge nerf hammer a lot of bug fixes and careful changes to classes. Very good balance patch.
I still have issues with Mist pvp being so isolated from the rest of the game, balance issues is not what makes pvp zones empty ‘fun factor’ and rewards is what gets the casuals into it. PvE and WvW side of the game needs a tie into sPvP even a small one like RA had Z-key farming HA had chest with skins, Spvp and Tpvp will be a very small community if the casuals have no reason to do it over WvW.

Yes they do complain about thieves, its just drowned out by complaints of Mesmer and Guardian (rightly so)
Its not normal for the min/maxers to complain much about balance they tend to just roll the OP combos and are the one discovering them in the first place.

None of these thief players could do any better then you did no matter what they say.
I made a thief to test the combo and learn its weak points. Its easy to the extream and has zero weakpoints, its the perfect glass cannon build never seen anything so fast and strong in all my MMO gaming days.

Maybe if you get the life force bonus and gluttony works it might be viable but even then I would not go for stability but for the faster recharge… because if you go that deep into DS you want to have faster control of going in and out of it. The base cooldown is just toooo long in the fast paced burst pvp in this game.
Now if you are talking pve/wvw then sure anything works.
Yeah I found the same thing in my tests scepter outdamaging axe in a power build.
Well… i know the perfect rune for my shortbow hunter.
Weapons use Sigils. Sigil of Air is Fine. It’s the Rune of Air proc that’s over the top. I don’t think there’s any doubt it will get nerfed eventually.

Yeah did you look at the screen shot… 6.4k? That was a glass cannon HB war. The runes proc alot they work great with a glass cannon because nothing is going to live past a glass cannon busrt + a proc. Its instant death did not help my mark of blood a week kitten 300 damage attack proced the eles runes also.
10k damage from procs instantly
Again 10k damage from procs instantly its happened multiple games on the server ele was burst dagger dagger war was burst HB. Dont get my wrong if they were tanky and a proc of 10k happened it would still be unbalanced perhaps more so.

Yeah I love getting killed in seconds by something I cant see.
I also used the ele/necro exploit.
Thief is one option I found the Mesmer even easier… stopped doing spvp and moved to WvW after i got 340 points my first game as a Mesmer.
Yup, I remember not understanding why people cried about Thiefs until I started running into ones that did this to my at the time 2000 toughness well bunker necro….
All happened in a few seconds and use I used stun break no hope.
Sorry for double post… Ele was running flame blast it doubled on me all the time and a war with lighting rune also doubled on me all the time. Im kind of tanky always 1700 toughness at least with 26k health here I think.
Yes I ate the full HB stun break was down… and Im not crying about HB seen it comming but had no answer at the time… still I would of lived to respond if not for the procs GG.

Make damage and burst faster then any MMO I have ever played…. yeah that might be problem with no healers and very limited stunbreaks (for some classes).
I tested the runes lighting is out of control so is the flameblast.
I have tried it to make it work for a long time, no matter how many settups I try build and gear combos, high DS spec just does not work…. I would call it terrible its a traps for new necros to waste points and be even worst…. its that bad.
Spending 30 points into a useless line just so we can get 3 seconds of stability is a joke.
Yeah I do the same with spectral walk and wells.
