Zerg WvW necro is useful but so are guards war eles (three classes needed in all game modes).
Solo roaming necro takes some real high level skill but its fun and I enjoy it nerf to chill is going to make that playstyle pointless its already hard stopping runners.
PvP conquest necro is just focus fire fodder good players will CC you to death there is a reason top teams do not use Necro, in EU not a single necro or ranger in a top team.
PvE…. groups actually request NO Necros. I dont pve so dont care but I still think something is wrong there.
The problem is as they balance necro to require using your brain less proc based. They make other classes more brainless proc based button mashing strong.
Its unreal how perfect you need to play necro to win where other classes can make multiple mistakes and still recover.
My other class is ENG…. its just plain good even if you are average you will do outstanding, if you are a really good player you are OP.
On necro a really good player is at best as useful as an average eng, war, ele, guard in most cases even less useful.
I suck at war, hardly ever play it but when i do shoutbow… in alot of cases I’m stronger then my necro for conquest just button mashing war.
It was nerfed because it might be a strong combo with reaper. Nevermind how good players are going to dominate the slow reaper with ease.
I was grouped with a 4man Anet team during stronghold, they are some of the worst players I have ever seen. We got crushed by a full pug group.
The issue is, they are bad at the game and they also play the game…. so they see necro as strong and ignore all the data showing its not strong.
This will never change, necro will always be one of the weaker classes. If it moves to average power level it will get nerfed quickly.

Its a really large nerf, perhaps one of the largest nerfs any class has seen since the game came out.
There was a great solo q leader boards.
The try hard bads carried in Tpvp that could not climb it complained and complained about long queues so Anet removed solo q ranked so the bad tpvp VOIP kids could farm with a huge edge.
I hear you on the feeling you are being forced down a certain path for war…. but you really lost me on the complaining about MM necro part. There are a ton of very good warrior builds to handle MM necros condie necro and power necros all at once. You liking hammer already puts you in a good spot. You dont like bow thats fine, get a shield and say axe or mace and you will have a huge edge on necro.
All that said, GW2 is going to be more of a spam fest with more RNG after patch.
Its hard to feel sorry for anyones complaints as I main a necro.
A dose of reality is needed go to a dueling server, see what decent players on other classes can do.
Nothing necros has is OP, they are not a part of the top PvP teams.
Every necro still playing from the start has tried it at somepoint…. its not even close to viable.
I have been branching out into other classes…. necro is in a really bad state with so many useless traits.
You should have a exotic armor set of zerk.
Do not invest in ascended armor until after the new traits are tested. The few stat points don’t matter anyway unless you are hardcore pve min/max…. and if thats your style playing the wrong class.

The average thief player doing well on a real class? lol no I think not. They would mostly roll pewpew ranger and that’s fine because it has counters.
If that is what you label ‘Vicious’ I would recommend working on growing thicker skin. Or just troll back.

Calm down, im no fan of conquest but some folks like it and Anet supports those few with ‘official’ matches.
I doubt it slows down development of other pvp modes like deathmatch because there is no development of other pvp modes like deathmatch.
but mostly because they seem to have much more access to things like stability and stunbreaks and all around better sustain than necromancer.

There are too many hardcounters for condi to work well at a high or even mid level in pvp games, more are being added.
As much as I love condi…. its flat out useless when you run into more then a few common builds others are running now. Warriors are way to popular, and revenant will likely also be popular really limiting condi builds as a main focus.
I bet the majority of people that leave their main for Revenant as a main will be Necros.
The condi manipulations is game over for necros that want to spec condi, as if shoutbow was not killing condies in the meta already, Revenant will really end condi necros.

If you spent as much time writing this post as testing you would know how good the skills is for both condi builds and power builds.
BTW try scepter with a power build, close to death and eagle runes.
I did some testing years ago, and it still holds true.
Scepter, with all power gear does more dps then Axe. Or is so close really does not matter, Anet took away the old mist test weapons and the target dummies HP is so low its sometimes hard to tell. But Axe is that bad, scepter as power will drop the target just as fast while having +300 range and better utility.
You’re complaining that there are more premades?? Oh lord save this community! We’re supposed to ENCOURAGE party play. Sheesh how else is this supposed to get more competitive.

Well, it’s a team game, so an actual team is going to be better than 5 random. This is a team game, not a solo one. Anyone who is sensible or serious about pvp should be looking to form teams.
I’ve been playing with a mesmer main lately, and we’ve been able to do some great portal plays. It’s transformed the whole game and added a new tactical level. Awesome stuff, cool guy as well.

Oh and solo queue is still a team game, just no VOIP MASSIVE edge.

I agree so much, the vast majority of Tpvp folks are carried, solo queue was the natural selection that shut them up.
I remember climbing solo queue casually to top 50ish, playing against alot of carried by team folks that eventually gave up because they never topped 500. They cried and cried to Anet about long team queues and how bad solo queue was how meaningless kept telling themselves that over and over, but lets be honest they discovered how average they were and did not like it so wanted solo queue removed.
Props to the very few elite that climbed to the top of both solo and team queue those were good players.

Starting with 100% LF is a little cheesy, but fine…. however you will not really improve with that crutch. Start at 50% accept the loses that will come you will get better.
Most ET players just like to fight out in the open and are fairly good at it.
Taking things is just not that big a deal, except to get more open field fights. Defending things… ha only if we happen to already be inside otherwise naw we have open field fights to look for.
A sever that did not buy into the silly flipping and holding treadmill and just WvW for the group fights that’s ET.
If anyone ever loses to a necro with zero LF they really are not good.
Start at whatever you want, when you start facing good players you need LF to have a chance. This is very true for condi necros…. for power necros because they can actually gain LF starting at 100% is kind of cheap.
Too bad, too, as I absolutely loved random arenas in GW1.
RA was what got me hooked on GW1.
So tonight it was premade after premade, yeah once the group of pugs beat one premade but all the other games vs premades loses.
That and I waited over 5 min every queue….
Whats even better is that kitten talking premades, pugs work hard lose by 100 at least make it a fight and the toxic premades talks trash for no reason.
Fine part of pvp, I can deal with it but clearly others cant as queues get longer and longer.
Seems more and more people are doing PvP just for the daily not because they enjoy it.
Please just bring back solo queue, clearly 2v2, 3v3 5v5 etc deathmatch will never happen. At least bring back solo ranked games.

Wont happen, the true talent from DAoC is long gone. All that’s left is a hypeman a smooth talker saying what everyone whats to hear, he wont deliver. The talent is gone.
ET is fine if you like to fight other players. Alot of WvW folks really don’t like doing that so its not for them.
Really does not take much to do fine at that tier, 5-10 organized people can get some really good fights and roll double-tripple etc numbers back into hiding behind walls or wipe them.
If the question is whats wrong with ET…. my answer is nothing and I wonder whats wrong with you? With lower number fights it really comes more down to skill then zerg fest where all you do is toss skills into a mass of bodies, I find that play unrewarding.
I’ve been playing necro for a long time, I don’t post on here much.
I do a lot of solo-queing, and honestly? Terrormancer just feels weak. And I know I must be doing something wrong.
I can’t win 1v1s on it, I don’t feel like I’m making a difference in teamfights. Nobody dies, I can’t really do any worthwhile CC, and when I corrupt boons they just fall off and come back. Condi application is pathetically slow, to boot.
It feels… So underwhelming.
When I play power, I can shred people with my dagger, blow up a point and deny all kinds of access with wells, support with staff while I build lifeforce and deal some pretty heavy damage with lifeblasts from the safety of the corner.
But I just can’t make myself feel useful on terrormancer, and I can’t help but feel I’m doing something wrong.

Terrormancer is weak against any decent player with stun breaks or classes with alot of condi removal.
Another thing that really limits terrormancer and condi in general is shoutbow warriors a meta ‘hardcounter’ to condi.
You are doing nothing wrong.
I’m a die-hard condi necro but have been rolling power lately. When I do condi its my special brew, still take terror of course but I always felt the pure terror build (as seen on metabattle) was not optimal. It works fine I win the vast majority 95% of 1v1s in ranked however still think power is better by a fair margin right now.
I’m shocked they removed solo queue. The crying of a very very small playerbase of VOIP teams caused Anet to screw over a much larger solo queue population so the VOIP teams could farm the pugs.
I have even less respect for the players on ‘top teams’ then I did back in solo queue days. Most of them I found to be average at best when they stepped into solo queue, clearly carried players. Very few held top spots in both team leaderboards and solo queue.

Did you quickly forget about Nos? He’s also the main target in every team fight while the rest of Abjured comp supports him. At least that’s how it was on their old composition. They only show abjured on finals now and I never watch until the end because it gets very late in my country. (I live in EU)
EU had zero, and Nos would serve his team better if he learned another class. That said its great they are willing to work with him and support his choice, lets be honest there is no real money or rewards at stake so who cares if a good player is on a less then optimal class does not matter if it costs a few game losses.
I tend to pick a single class in games and focus learning it spent by far more time on necro then all other classes combined, but I’m well aware the two other classes I play eng and mes are better for conquest game mode.
I dont join solo ranked because I guess even not playing for two years I’m still considered the greatest player NA and am constantly put against full groups or close to it.
Unranked is faster queues.
The only time I join ranked is when I’m in the mood to face slightly better players.

Staff yeah you will always be viable with staff condi or power.
GS for pvp NO. Its too slow, remove all bias and cool factor then tell me you see a GS necro beating a Dagger necro in melee. Still not convinced? Tell me you see a GS necro beating anyone with lots of blinds or interupts/evasion/dodges.
GS is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy wayyy wayy wayyyy to slow to be viable in higher level pvp.
Its a great PvE weapon and will be fun at times in WvW or against new players in unranked.

If we did a test where you were on power ranger and I played every meta class against you, I would bet I would win every time. If I played power ranger and you got to play every meta class than I guarantee I would win at least 6/8, depending on your skill level 8/8. To me, that would suggest it isn’t power ranger that is strong nor that I’m a good player, but that you lack the ability to stand behind a wall, in a game mode where you can place yourself between the ranger, the wall, and the objective the ranger is trying to get to. That would mean, therefore, that it is a learn to play issue. I heavily encourage you to do so as many people don’t have problems with this class that you complain so much about. You also mention not seeing the ranger. This is again indicative of a learn to play issue, if you do not have the awareness to see a high dps class coming to kill you, then you deserve to die in this dog eat dog world of PvP that we have.
I also find your reasons to nerf ranger unsettling, “I’m bad, I die to ranger yet most people don’t, it makes the game unfun for me, please nerf it because I can’t learn to play”. Thought processes like this are what makes the community become toxic. Take some responsibility and learn to play, please.
You’re talking about dueling…. whats out of control is in conquest mode how much damage they do from so far away so easy. Other zerk classes have a much higher risk for the same reward/effectiveness.
The skill level it takes to play zerk shatter mesmer is much much much much greater then a zerk ranger… rewards are the same.
2v2 3v3 or RA style deathmatch would be great…. the rest of your post is crying about mesmers…. practice and you will kill them more times then not.
What I absolutely hate though, is that winning or losing never feels like a direct consequence of your actions. We won because the points ticked all the way to 500 and not as a result of taking the key objective. Just like the combat itself, the actual winning/losing has a passive component that trumps everything else.

This is why deathmatch is always a larger draw in PvP MMOs, you have a team you kill the other team or they kill you. Simple concept, but makes for some outstanding gameplay and fun, great meta development team builds that are true team builds players skill level advancement.
There is a reason GvG draw nearly as many views as the highly advertised official conquest ‘pvp’.
10 v 10 to 25 v 25 is not for everyone… but there are a ton of people that would love some offical 3v3 5v5 and casual 2v2. WvW folks have been doing it since the game came out.
Powerful effects that have no counterplay is not good for a games PvP.

Its easier to mash buttons and get carried, and if you’re too heavy to carry just blame other factors. My favorites are, lag, other team is hacking, someone on my team is actually worst then me(rare but happens).

Lost 3 ranked matches today due to leavers and afkers…. kept facing the same few names.
Probably just random luck for them, I dont know how someone could time a second account to be on the other team.
Best players I met in GW2 always came from the GvGers group, the clear higher skill level is what pulled me into that game mode right when I was about to quit due to being sick of boring PvP. Got months of enjoyment doing GvGs.
Just started playing again after nearly a two year break…. The story back then was pvp folks here trolled GvG supporters to no end, ‘no skills zergers’, ‘pve kids’ etc…
I was convinced the best players I had seen in GW2 I met doing GvG not conquest mode, and I set out to prove it.
I entered PvP conquest and casually climbed to top 50 on the solo queue. The next time a conquest mode ‘pvp’ player flamed GvG, and they did it often. I posted a screen shot showing my standings on the pvp ladder, higher then every single person trolling GvG by miles.
I figured having climbed to a decent level in GvG unofficial ladder and PvP official ladder I was speaking from a position of first hand knowledge and that Anet/pvpers would respect that.
Anet locked the thread and gave me an infraction after all the complaints flooded from the PvP folks on this forum.
Glad to see GvGs are still happening and pulling in to many supporters. I always thought it was a more complex involved game mode that took great teamwork and great builds at high level.
Agree it would be huge, many people would take it very serious and even more would casually play it. Big draw for WvW players.

Last night I tried a shoutbow war….. easy mode.
I have not played in two years and was owning people with the war. Even killed some Char war with an Anet tag on, I had to talk smack the whole time I was killing him. It was so easy I could stop hitting buttons to do some typing mid fight. Try that on a necro and watch how fast you lose.
Solo queue used to filter and shut up these kinds of teams in VOIP talking trash to solo pugs.
Sure the clowns liked to say solo ranked did not matter but they know it did… the best players where top in both team and solo ladder…. the carried players never could climb solo ladder.
You could climb higher then them in one ladder that was about individual skill and ability to adapt based on in game observations.
I took nearly two years off of GW2, came back with zero rank my first few games where against very good players much better then average, one team was a guild group.
Matchmaking is busted, must really suck for new players trying to leave pvp and improve against players close to their skill level.
Make queue longer if you have to.
Anet is stuck in circular logic…. they have a low pvp population so dont want to split the low pvp population by adding more pvp game modes…. because the pvp population is too low.
The thought that more games modes might cater to more players that enjoy anything that’s not conquest never really seem to cross their minds in three years.
Deathmatch is a must option in all MMOs that want a PvP community.
RA was great fun, the random groups that would work great together great and went on long winning streaks was so much fun when it happened.
deatmatch isn’t bad idea… map itself is horrible though… i can’t see crap half of the time because of random walls/stones/trees etc.
Yes the map is terrible, so many objects getting in the way of playing the game.
Deathmatch is the top of all MMOs PvP, there are other game modes but where there is the choice of deathmatch it always rises to the top. Anet fears this, has since day one so they make the deathmatch map a pure mess and make it never show up in ranked.
