A stealth rework, that is fair (to both mesmers/thieves and non-stealth classes), to a certain degree has been welcomed.
However, what ends up happening is (at least coming from the thieves sides) nerfs roll out across skills and traits… for various reasons… no real signs of a rework. Plus, the belief that a fair rework will be made is very small. Likely if there is a rework, they will rework stealth but leave all other non-stealth traits and skills untouched… meaning a half – assed rework and a nerf.
What: Stealth, CnD, Backstab
Why: Even though OP perma-stealth exploit build has been nerfed… This is still happening:
Clearly, that nerf was not enough. He’s still perma-stealth exploiting left and right using CnD, blinding powder, hide in shadows and shadow refuge. More nerfs are necessary as the last one didn’t do any justice.

You should roll a warrior or guardian.
Second this. You won’t stress much and you will shine in every situation. An up-leveled guardian has arguably as much (and a bit more) sustain/survivability in WvW as a level 80 (exotics, ascended accessories/trinkets) thief, from my experience.
It’s a bit confusing because you said pvp and max level… if you mean sPvP you can just remake/have both.
If you mean pvp as in WvW… yeah thief would be the last option (i would even say pick ranger at least you will have 1200 range (same base armor, more health)).
Between Ele and thief… ele.
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
~200g (186g on hand, more in request orders)
Flipped for months, a bit each day… It’s picking up/going faster since I can gamble/invest more gold.
Original goal was to get a legendary…
Now flipping has become part of game play, maybe even the only game play.
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
Rifle would be cool, sniper like skills, and we would finally have a 1200 range weapon…
Long bow that would give 1200 range AoE skills…
Longsword for some cleave AoE action, ninja-katana-like skill set…
Claws/fist weapons, similar to daggers…
What we will probably get:
focus offhand…
Shields…
Staffs… (no AoE, 900 range)
wands…
Build I run in sPvP:

Relies on bleeds to do the damage, other conditions are there to cover the bleeds up from being removed (remove 1 condition skills), as well as help CnD (to spam sneak attack which is the “main” source of bleeds). Shadow strike is nice ofc.

Would go with G500s, used to use G5 and loved that mouse to bits… it was a sad day when it died :’( …
G600 throws me of with those side buttons… I know you can get used to em but (used to use M570, laser trackball, played quake/sc1/ut2k4 with it well
)… are they needed?
I use G9 mouse now, really solid as well.
…or reroll warrior and have everything heh
Yea I love stealth on my warrior and the clones, also the elements and the spirits, pets and guardian weapons. Love it all on my warrior. The pistols and the staff with the grenades are absolutely epic on WvW. When I jump in zerg I use tornado elite to spin to win! And if I have change to go down I pop up my deathshroud! That’s just epic on WvW!
O.o why do/would you need all that on a warrior… when you’re a warrior…?
Would you like the ability to bind “Win” to a button as well?

I usually die. It removes all the conditions instantly. A universal skill accessible by all the classes.
On a serious note, Hide in Shadows in sPvP gives enough coverage in my build.
WvW… yeah I just get melted… (in zergs)
o.O never noticed/had problems with PvE conditions.

Zero Day ftw, his posts are always worth reading
Thanks!
I’m a bit pessimistic due to WvW’ing with a thief is a bit depressing…
What do you do in a dungeon and what build do you use?
Honestly I don’t dungeon much… but when I do… It’s full zerker 30/30/x/y/z…
Or at the very least 0/30/x/y/z …
Weapon sets, I perfer d/d and sb.
What role do you fulfill in WvW in both roaming party’s and Zerg vs Zerg?
Don’t do roaming. Zerg vs Zerg, I fulfill the loot bag role. Honestly, just a zergling front/mid-line, less usefull than any other class(frontliners best done by war/guards, backliners ele’s/necros…). Can’t even be fully mid-line since max range is 900 (:D yaya!).
Do you feel your class, the Thief is just as effective as other classes?
No, short answer.
Did you swap weaponsets? If so from what previous set to which current set?
So, I always have SB as the 2nd set (in sPvP it has energy sigil, for gtfo, in WVW/PvE sigil of fire for moar AoE).
WvW I either use anything as a main set since they don’t bring the same effectiveness as the SB (in a zerg), so in a zerg basically I use SB).
Dungeons, I went from p/p unload spam to d/d, both zerkers. Though my dungeoning experience is mainly a lot of CoF runs, with some other dungeons (AC… some low level fracts…)
sPvP, played around with many… stuck with p/d condi… just works for me.
Do you feel underpowered, balanced or overpowered compared to other classes?
Balanced, in the sense of there’s always QQ’ing how thieves OP with stealth/backstabs and kitten (look at those videos!!!! OMG he killed so many in that montage, clearly that ALWAYS happens)… and underpowered since in WvW thief sucks, PvE other classes do it better, sPvP meh (high-level apparently thieves are kitten).
What stats combination on your gear do you think is the most effective now?
WvW/PvE, I have only zerker accessories (ascended, pain in the kitten to switch, thanks!), for armor i have full zerker and pvt/knight mix, switching between the two depending on the situation…
sPvP, runes that give condi damage and extend bleed duration.
What I feel the thief is exceptionally well at doing, and this will probably get nerfed is:
From the bank/crafter’s in LA using shadow-step+dodge roll+infiltrator’s arrow to get to the TP fast to pick up items/gold… :\ really slow on my warrior and guardian… thief is best for this.

I know ‘quests’ aren’t exactly what Gw2 does. Hearts are the nearest equivalent – but if I could posit a thought.. what’d be wrong with unlockable, repeatable hearts?
“Daily” hearts would be sweet. Multiple hearts across all the maps, should bring people back into those map (especially if we’re not limited into how many we do, as in there are a total of 40 across all maps but we can only do 5 that would be bad).
They’re almost in line with some of the dailies anyways, where you have to kill 40 (don’t remember, I do sPvP since it’s easier) in a certain region… I mean that’s the same thing has having a heart for that in that region…
What: Thief player ego
Why: The world would be a better placeI could actually get behind this nerf.
I think it can go across the board… since defeat does hurt regardless of class, hence the QQ’ing when they die to backstabs.
What: Thief OP status
Why: Like branches on a tree, even though the thief gets trimmed/cut (nerfed), their OP status increases, grows and regenerates. Pluck the tree from the ground! Burn it to the ground! Plant a flower instead.
He answered, “look this is all we can do, so get over it”
So…….
Isn’t this the same way Arena.net look at thief class?
Not even close. To the tree trimmer, it is profitable for them to come back several times a year to trim the tree. There is no profit on “trimming” the Thieves because the nerfs we received is similar to “plucking out the tree.”
no
when you pluck out the tree, you pluck their roots
no matter what trimming (nerfs) thieves get, they are still OP?
like the tree branches; they’ll keep growing.
why not just redesign the thief root and start over?
why not just plant a new tree that doesn’t grow to much?
why not just redesign a thief that would not be OP?
wouldn’t that make sense?
wouldn’t you agree?
So when your teeth hurt, why not pull em out? (sure the wisdom teeth…)
So if a person gets cancer why not just kill them, right? (there’s no way to cure it that has been excepted by the medical institutions).
If there’s weeds on your lawn why not torch the lawn and be done with it?
Actually, wtf is the point of trees?
K, pruning is a pain, lets say someone “redesigns” the root of trees to grow w/o branches. Just a long kitten stick growing towards the sky with leaves coming out from it. Then the leaves will become pain in the kitten to clean/blow away… Why not then “redesign” the tree again? make a long kitten stick that’s without branches and without leaves and just produces oxygen. well kitten it, now there’s a bunch of sticks sticking out of the ground. why not redesign it again to have it not grow from the ground and spit out oxygen from the ground. well, why not find a way to just produce oxygen w/o having to plant those trees… why not find a way to not breath the oxygen…
Never mind the function of the tree… why prune and keep the trees around you in general? I mean there’s enough trees out there for not really needing to have one of your own… Beauty?
Slippery slope… but up to now there really has only been nerfs… with “buffs” just for us to not say “only nerfs”.
Jesus man, i thought you were an awesome troll/poet… but this… Gotta say, our artistic views don’t exactly match.
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
OMG…. how about we just ban these threads of any such mention of pay to win…
Clearly you haven’t seen the new gemstore item called “Win”.
What: Longbow thief
Why: Because it just sounds OP
That’s a good idea, pre-nerf weapons that we might get….
So might want to expand it to: Longbow, rifle, axe, greatswords,…
What: “placed” AoE (i.e. Caltrops, Choking gas)
Why: Everything Thieves do must apply Revealed debuff, even if they fart in a crowded bus.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Condition-Damage-and-Stealth/first#post3225311
Yup. There was a complaint about it…
…
:D tell me what I scored and what it’s out of.
That’s a clear 10/10, you are really good at this!
Imo the S/D nerf hurt most in areas where we were already fragile.
Magic bullet, fearspam, engineer condi spam.Personally never had any bigger problems with warriors, taking a skullcrack on top of the shadow return point was ofc annoying, what I’m mostly concerned about warriors is them pretty much outhealing 60% of our dmg output in active fights.
Nailed it! (10/10)
Personally never played (but tried) S/D in sPvP, or the D/P perma-stealth in WvW (dislike roaming, and being full glass in a zerg doesn’t help – plus SB cluster bomb spam is the only thing I think “works” in a zerg, if you use it like a shotgun(I can see this being nerfed, making it not possible to detonate right after firing))… But it’s pretty kittening obivious they both got hit hard. Forgot to mention in my post too, the build that I’m running got no MASSIIVVEEE buff, i really can’t notice the difference before and after Dec 10 patch. I, personally feel, conditions are OP (if your kittened opponent doesnt bring a cleanse of some sort), and they work pretty well on warriors especially #3 on P/D (:D torment then kite4dayz)… they’re still a kitten cuz (even though they nerfed the damage) if you get stunned by those hammer warriors, you’re a bit screwed….
What build?
sPvP: 5/0/30/20/15 (close to it…):
http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?fYAQNAqYVlUmCN3aS3E95EB3jk60mqp4m2sTBWlPA-TsAgyCuIgRNjbGDMSfs+MCY9xcBA
PvE/WvW: um random kitten put togather since it doesn’t really matter… as in what exactly are we good for?
What did you play before the patch?
Same thing, the my build for sPvP didn’t really get touched… PvE/WvW um, we were never good to being with?
Did you reroll something else?
Yup, Guardian (lvl 47) and Warrior (lvl 38). Leveling is boring… but at least easy with those two.
Is GW2 still installed?
Given I have 3TB drive used for storage/crap, it probably always will be. I believe the only post i said i would quit if X happen was someone suggested priority queues for WvW that can be bought off of the gemstore. If that happens I WILL quit, you can hold me to it (but i will still troll the forums <3).
Waiting for better days perhaps?
Not really. I’m waiting for them to nerf us down into oblivion so they can move on to nerf other classes. In fact I can’t wait for the next nerf, and really wish that kitten on the Nerf Wish List comes true.
Are thieves ok and those who QQ are bad?
No, and no. QQ’ing is part of the Interwebz (welcome! if you’re new to it).
Should thieves be nerfed?
Yes. Why shouldn’t they? I mean, is this really a question? Are there other classes they can nerf every patch?
:D tell me what I scored and what it’s out of.
Use your imagination.

I was and still rocking this build in sPvP:

Didn’t really notice changes post Dec 10 to it… ugh :/ (no MASSIIIIVEEE buff either)
Still effective against scrubs, just like anything… Normal/decent people will probably kitten you. Guardians are sometimes a kitten with that build. Poor rangers go down extremely quickly. Necros are a bit tough/last longer… warriors you just need to dodge a lot and abuse #3 and CnD. Mesmers, try not to get confused with the stupid clones use them to CnD off of. Fellow thieves, well we don’t have a lot of condi removal so yeah. Engineers, dodge and abuse #3… :\ It’s probably a sub-optimal build but for me it works. Thieve’s guild is great. The ambush trap i use it during fights to spring up another thief or when i’m capping a point i lay one down to prep for a fight (if don’t “well”/lucky, you can end up with 4 thieves (2 from thieves, 2 from back to back ambush)). The thieves help in damage, and provide a bit of chaos(main reason for use and bring ambush…) in the fight for the opponent(s).
Apparently there’s another build floating up/becoming popular p/d with preplexity runes, haven’t tried it.
I don’t tPvP…. and I really only do the stupid 3 match dailies, which is enough pvp for me until i get bored…. :/ (I truthfully try in this matches, don’t get me wrong.).
Also, in a sense it’s a one trick pony, since you relay on bleeds, CnD, and unload.
Only reason for poison application is to cover up the bleeds from being removed first.
the immobilize is there for you to get a CnD in.
torement is helpful, same as poison but better.
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
What: Thief in it’s entirety.
Why: Since we’re free loot bags, this is a merge of all the requests, Not only should the class name change to “Free Loot Bag” and take away our limbs so we can’t run or do anything, instead a total remake should be made (I agree with Burnfall! He’s totally right when he said it.). Our character creation screen should show a 8 slotted bag that we can then customize (pick out ribbons and colors…), and as we level-up/gear-up as bags we progress into a 10 slotted loot bag then into a 15 and so on. Or we start off as “Tiny Loot Bag” and progress into a “Small Loot Bag” and so on.
Lol @ me complaining … I just made a statement and people get mad and upset now. No wonder barely anybody visits these thief forums. I was just merely asking what they did to the thief class that now makes alot of them run the condition builds. Did i not say that warriors have cheesy specs as well? And that video I posted was from June 2013 … which was like what 6 months ago???? It’s been popular for awhile although I don’t use it very often, i just never tried it before at the time
Here’s what happened bud.
Recently we had a nerf bat slammed into our kitten (again) to nerf a “cheesy” build (“perma-stealth”), leaving a rash like usual.
A few days later you show up, and point out that you’ve noticed that there’s a new spec that the thieves are running around with, you include the word “cheesy”. Being the Internet forums here, there’s little to no sense of tone, whether you were mocking us or not is unclear to some or whether you came here with bad intention towards thieves. Afraid of being smacked with the nerf bat for another time, people started saying kitten (including me), pointing out how specs that we’re strong with are always considered cheesy and that you’re a warrior.
:| you just had bad timing with this post… if you posted after we got a decent buff or two people might have reacted differently. What scares me the most though, is that you’ve noticed a new spec running around… and i’m sure it’s not just you either, and without a doubt people are already calling it cheesy… :/ and we all know where that’s gonna go…
Fixes and buffs for thieves!!?!?!
THIS IS MADNESS
why is everybody so sour, I guess I opened a can of worms that I shouldn’t of but dam … the thief forums are depressing lol.
:D We have a nerf wish list if that excites you, you can pitch in, i already added your original post to it, left out your name since it’s not really YOU but the idea that I’m sure others will start to follow.
P.S. I rolled a guardian and warrior too. I don’t talk on those forums simply because, even though dieing, thief is and will be my main (even if i store it away and don’t use it…).
Sweet! I’ll ask for a nerf to the devs nerfing thieves for you guys
Clever and sneaky. Sorry you can’t do that, that would mean it’s a buff for thieves, and we can’t buff thieves * shakes head*. We can, mock buff them
. That works too and has been done already.

What: condition P/D or P/P thieves with perplexity runes running caltrops and venom
Why: It is a really strong (but cheesy) build though, like the thief version of the blackwater mesmer build.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Whats-up-with-thieves-nowadays
(edited by Zero Day.2594)
Did they nerf you guys or something?
All I see in WvW are a bunch of condition P/D or P/P thieves with perplexity runes running caltrops and venoms. It is a really strong (but cheesy) build though, like the thief version of the blackwater mesmer build.
Someone doesn’t read patch notes. I love how all Thief builds are “cheesy” by default. (because it’s perceived as strong, I’m sure.) bookitteninghoo.
Here comes another set of nerfs for our new found builds…
I think he’s most likely warrior.
Tl; Dr: Popular thief builds got nerfed. People are using what’s left over.
To be nerfed again (cuz they’re becoming “popular”, thus clearly “OHPEE”). I will add it to the nerf wish list, in 5 minutes (too many infractions/bans).
The two main areas for discussion will be Horizontal and Vertical progression, however please understand that the commentary and ideation we are really looking for regarding vertical is around its accessibility in game.
I’m not sure I understand this bit; could you clarify?
Hi,
To clarify I am looking forward to hearing the communities thoughts on speed of acquisition such as how long crafting time takes? or drop rates in fractals and other areas of the game etc.
I hope this adds some clarity.
Chris
In that case …
In both interviews and I believe one of the blog posts you guys mentioned the inequality between obtaining exotics through drops versus crafting/dungeon tokens. I had taken that to mean that you would fix this inequality for ascended but the current drop rate for ascended seems low to the point of irrelevant. What was the point of bringing up those difference if there was no plan on fixing the inequality?
Furthering this. You’ve said that there was a “gap” between exotics and legendaries. You’ve added ascended to fill that “gap”. However the original “gap” still remains. The “gap” between acquiring exotics and legendaries is largely based on the chance of a precursor popping up, which has not been addressed.
PART 3/3
Is the balance of acquisition of Ascended out of whack between different game-modes (i.e. Easier in PvE than WvW, easier in the open world than it’s intended game mode [Fractals])?
YES, very short and simple. WvW and PvE are two different beasts. It’s a bit weird going to WvW to only chop trees or mine ore or pick some berries (why can we even do this is a bit weird in itself) to say the least. The question here is, do you want to mix the two modes together (they are at this state)? Let’s bring sPvP for a sec, gear(stats) is completely isolated from other modes, why – to supposedly be competitive (another topic) and provide an even playing field. I’m out of any advice for this though, not too sure how you can separate or create a natural feel between the two. The only game that I’ve played that happily married WvW and PvE was RF:Online (their version of WvW was War that occurred every 4 hours). How? Well aside from “war” (let’s remember it’s a game) being fun, there was a little subtle almost unnoticeable reason to participate and get people to participate. That reason was (as malicious as it is, but that’s what comes with “pvp”) to screw over the other race(s) (the war was between 3 races/factions), to gain victory which allowed you to mine(gather) for 1-2 hours (don’t remember the exact time) at the core of the war map, which you couldn’t do that unless you race was victorious. Mining at that location would give you special resources to make more and more powerful gear, in turn making you more and more powerful for the next war (never ending cycle). Well what if one race hogged/won all the time? Never really happened, at times it was an all out war 1v1v1, and at times two races would mutually agree to cooperate against another race (Dirty? yes. This is war.) (for a deal of saying, we will win this war, but the next war you will win, or don’t kitten with us when we’re leveling and we will let you win (there was world pvp, so in a sense there wasn’t pve)) (how did races even collaborate like that? there was Race leaders(possible character progression here for you guys to think about, war leaders? world leaders? (Something higher than a commander, there’s also room for something lower than a commander(this is after all has it’s roots in war)))). This subtle unnoticeable idea, because there was pvp in pve, provoked players to fight, it provoked and impacted both the war and PvE in every sense(If one faction(not going to use race, as it may give kittenociations) went around killing other factions while they were leveling this would in turn help them in the war as other factions might not have their characters leveled up yet. To get a chance of peace was to be constantly winning wars for your faction). I guess what I’m trying to say by giving this anecdote is, as simple and stupid (there was one map, that can’t even compare to your WvW maps) as their wars were in RF:Online, it was magnitudes deeper(though, for a foot solider it was pretty basic, if you were able to climb higher (socially) it became more apparent or if you thought for a second) than WvW in this game. So the only take away for youhere is: decide on if you truly wish to have WvW and PvE in some sort of mix and if so find a way to happily marry the two (give some depth to WvW, incentive to participate (Not talking about the season bullkitten, as it’s temporary thing. Instead get a theme, a deep reason, going (realistically, why do we go to war?(I’m contradicting myself here saying not to bring real life in and then asking this question, but yeah)))). Sorry I can’t speak for how easy it is for Fractals to acquire, if it’s chance based (drops) then it would be hard without a doubt.
Just a food for thought. :P Pessimistically, it probably won’t even get read. I will probably post something on “Character Progression” as opposed to gear. For those that thought it was a waste of time reading this, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean it to be.
PART 2/3
Focusing on the gearing and the quote above:
How easy it is to attain the Ascended gear?
Depending on how much gold you have, along with materials and the time you can invest. Personally, for me, it’s too much and yet the increase in stats makes me at unease that I don’t have the max stats. But never mind me. The problem stems from the ability to generate what’s required to make ascended gear. Farming seems to be frowned upon when players find/optimize dungeon paths, yet zerg trains still go on, this effects gold acquisition among some mat acquisition (side comment: Sorry to say, there’s a larger mass of players then developers, given this mass players will find optimizations/best-ways to acquire something and will prefer to do them if you guys don’t find/predict them yourselves). Some of the materials themselves are acquired by chance/“RNG” (potent blood, claws, so on, especially the tier 6 mats), supposedly to make the player feel “lucky” to have found the mats for whatever they’re crafting. Wood gathering, there’s no forests we could go to collect our lumber, instead we run around plains to find “special” trees. Gathering ore, same deal as wood, even worse for Orichalcum which is time gated (first occurrence, and it was there for so long). Leather, there isn’t skinning (as tedious as it was, WoW nailed it on skinning, kill an animal and then skin it), last I remember getting it is getting lucky on drops/salvage. Cloth, same thing as leather. So that’s just basic mats. Now you’ve introduced mats that you can only acquire so many a day, time gated. I understand that it’s to make crafting profession have their worth, but it’s done in a very wrong way, in a sense of how much their worth. Time gating in itself adds a how slew of problems, for instance the player’s play-time preference, where in the simple example player A and B dedicate 20 hours of gameplay per week, the difference is A does it over the span of 7 days and B does it over a span of 4 days, with your current ways player A benefits more than B. The feeling that “I’m” not progressing if “I’m” not playing today is a bit wrong, and it crosses the line where the game starts to impact real life (WoW was bad at this, commitment to raiding on certain days, then again GW2 has “reset” night for WvW but it’s not as bad as the raiding commitment)(it’s on a very small and unnoticeable scale, but it deteriorates “fun” over time as the player realizes(funny, we’re playing games to relax/escape/have fun, let’s not tie in real life a lot)). Time gating is also an artificial way to lengthen the time it takes to acquire something, so why have it(sorry to say, everything comes to an end someday)? Where do your intention truly stem from with trying to lengthen our gameplay? So why am I talking about this (and if you’re at this point, I’m a bit surprised you followed)? Well, to remind you of what basic paths we have for acquiring gear. (Funny, there’s only crafting that’s dependable for ascended. Exotics were “so easy” because there was also dungeons aside from just crafting, mind you it wasn’t chance based either (you had to collect a number of tokens to receive something, and pre-nerf/fix/DMR no artificial limits), there was drops just like ascended (though I would say very few depended on this), it was also accessible via WVW tokens). So, to make it “easier” to acquire ascended, please provided more than one dependable path (craft at the moment, drops – heh, no). Choose what you’re going for with gearing and what it takes… Is it luck? Is it dedication? Is it time? (don’t mix them much, see what’s happening now, though time and dedication go hand in hand most times). This could be done for each avenue of how to acquire the gear, or they can be their own avenues. Luck based, is similarly on how we acquire T6 mats (crude sense). Dedication based, in it’s extreme, Obsidian Shard, the player has played quite a bit of PvE/WvW and they have leveled X many times and now they can buy Obsidian Shards. Time based, time gated mats.
A bit of a detour, from the above topic but this still got hit in the crossfire. You wanted crafting profession to have worth, for them to be able to sell their merchandise. Well the only way (in my mind) that can happen, and easily happen, is if they sell upgrades for gear, which they do already. The only bit of problem is, not all upgrades are accessible through crafting (you can call me out here if I’m wrong), also goes back to the very top of this massive paragraph, the way in which these profession acquire their basic materials to craft the upgrades. Keep in mind unless it’s the same difficultly to acquire/buy through crafting professions, we will find a better way and abuse it (CoF p1 farming back in the day).
PART 1/3
I will try to keep it as clean/dry (un-sarcastic/kitten) as possible, given my infractions/signature.
So, right away there’s a bit of a question mark springing up in my head: You’ve titled the thread “CDI- Character Progression”. Few posts down:
The two main areas for discussion will be Horizontal and Vertical progression, however please understand that the commentary and ideation we are really looking for regarding vertical is around its accessibility in game.
I’m not sure I understand this bit; could you clarify?
Basically:
- How easy it is to attain the Ascended gear?
- Is the balance of acquisition of Ascended out of whack between different game-modes (i.e. Easier in PvE than WvW, easier in the open world than it’s intended game mode [Fractals])?
Couldn’t have said it better myself DaiBish. Thanks.
Chris
So are we dealing here with character progression, which is a VERY wide topic, or just gearing (pretty narrow, sub-topic of character progression)?
(Before I get going, let me allow that without a doubt Ascended gear impacts both WvW and PvE regardless how much of a stat increase it is.)
(I gotta wait 5 minutes before each post… so it’s going to be spread out)
Broken skill is broken.
And LOL at learn to dodge.
Do you WvW?
Do you?
I think your V key might be broken, not the skill. Or perhaps its one of your many other keys which also counters killshot. What class and build are you running? I think I can help you.
Oh I was just commenting on both your and Aridia’s replies.
Guys, guys,
Why are you turning to Killshot, when thief backstab is so much more OP?Backstab has 1200 range and the ability to hit an infinite amount of targets?
It’s funny you guys are saying that, while other’s are/were complaining how a thief can backstab for ~15k….
Why is no one talking about Everquest Next when it’s the one MMO with the most GW2-like ambitions? With horizontal progression and pretty much everything else promised in the manifesto and free to play too, to me it looks the more promising and I know I’ll be sure to try it (and Landmarks too).
:P I did mention it in my long kitten post on the first page (bottom).
This is my p/d build (or at least found it from someone…):
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fYAQNAqYVlUmCN3aS3E95EB3jk60mqp4m2sTBWlPA-TsAgyCuIgRNjbGDMSfs+MCY9xcBA
I use it in sPvP, for me it works :P . Pretty basic too.
So, basically we have a thread full of people pointing out that the only strong point GW2 will have against the upcoming competition is the fact that you don’t play a subscription…
Lol, nice. Nailed it for some.
Guys, guys,
Why are you turning to Killshot, when thief backstab is so much more OP?
…
Sad but true! (Still, thieves are getting some pretty nasty buffs with initiative next patch, they will be even more OP than they currently are…)
If you wish to request any nerf for thieves, please do it in the following thread (specifically designed to request nerfs for thieves):
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/thief/Nerf-Wish-list
:D cheers!
What: P/D thieves, their bleeds.
Why: Bleeds and conditions OP! Remove the bleed from #1 .
They need to nerf our Armor from being so Trenchy. Trenchcoats are OP and restrict movement.
What: Trenchcoat armor.
Why: Trenchcoats restrict movement of those that wear them.
(Almost forgot, this clip is awesome)
What: Heartseeker
Why: OP as seen in this guide:

Yep, when I see a Thief invis near me, I swap to GS and swing around like crazy.
Draknar swung a sword. Draknar swung a sword again. Hey! Draknar swung it again. That’s great!
There ya go folks and future developers, top notch AAA stealth and counter stealth mechanics right here that will stand the test of time and be written in the history books for all future mmorpgs!
:)
But… But… how does one know where to swing their sword… Or where to place/aim their AoE skills that can hit invisible units.
thief can never keep up with a warrior that wants to get awy. not after 3000 range its not gonna happen. the initial sprint yes….
zero day i hope u are being sarcastic
:D
(Though, to a certain extent I do wish they nerf thieves to the ground and a couple feet under. Just so that they could move on to nerfing another class
and I will get to enjoy those tears…. most likely mesmers as warriors would be the last thing to nerf)

lets keep track.
- 1st fight is you against a guardian that didnt fight back.
- 2nd fight is you, a sentry, and your thieves guild against a warrior that continued to only fight the sentry until it dies, and he engages you at 20% health.
- 3rd fight is you against the 1st guardian again, who again runs away and doesnt fight back after the warrior drops.
- 4th fight is you, multiple guards and yaks against a thief and guardian who are both at half health from fighting said guards.
- 5th fight is you killing an uplevel who basically died to guards anyway. His guardian friend was at half health (from guards) by the time you swap to him, and he tries to fight you inside the camp with said guards.
- 6th fight is you killing an ele, who is already at 40% health from fighting guards…
- 7th fight is better. You stomp a commander i can only assume someone else already downed, evade attacks while pressuring an uplevel ranger, rez a guy and pick off a mesmer that for some reason had 10% health. Then down but fail to kill a longbow/bear ranger who didnt fight back.
It was better because you did this while living through an outnumbered situation.- 8th fight is even better, you win against a guy with full health. But: its a ranger with a longbow and a bear. Maybe next time?
- 9th fight is against a full health engineer. Engineer almost drops you, you shadow refuge and full reset. Reopen with thieves guild, both of you go down at the same time roughly.
- 10th fight, an actual win against a full health non-bowbear. Well, we’re 1-9. Might make the playoffs with a wildcard right?
The good news is, did not see you try to exploit any permastealth. The bad news is, not really any good fights in this video.
All I saw was how OP thieves are.
Look the warrior was running away but the thief could keep up with him (via steal).
He totally used stealthed which confused people and granted him the upper hand.
And he won 1v2+ fights.
CLEARLY, thieves OP.
I think P/D should be nerfed… next-next patch. remove the bleeds.
You can see Warriors coming at you. Warrior attacks wildly telegraphed. Try again.
Thieves can expect no negative outcome in a fight. It’s either: you win or you retreat safely.
Ditto.
