Best to filter by level in the TP, that way you don’t even see stuff you don’t want (i.e. 80 to 80).
Also, check the wiki page to read up on ascended armor/weapons. The stat increase is very minimal compared to the cost. Not saying it isn’t worth the time to get them, just wouldn’t sweat about it as it is a long term goal for most players.
What class and what aspect of the game (wvw, pve, pvp) ?
More than likely you ran a lower level fractal during the current reset cycle and forgot about it. Pretty much every time someone posts about this they realize that is what happened.
Like to point out that Gold to Gem rate is now at the same point as it was just before Halloween. The dollar to gold rate is once again below 4g for $1.
I think we’ll be seeing a lot of “Mr. Sparkles” minis following toons around next month…
Followed closely by the gold to gem rates skyrocketing again, but this time much higher is my guess.
Too much of the game is based on the trading post. It focuses the game around gold acquisition vs adventuring. Imo it is the worst aspect of the game.
This^^
Also, @OP: I think you severely underestimate the amount of gold some people have.
It’s no mystery why and how there’s suddenly a lot more arah sellers out there nowadays. I’m guessing most of it can be credited to the youtube user “Guildwars2Exploits”.
Most p2 sellers on LFG skip lupi and exploit other bosses. In 19/20 cases when i joined to buy cheap runs(3-4g & didn’t do p2 that day), people had skipped lupi and i doubt they killed the rest of the bosses legit if they had already skipped lupi. Sometimes they have 1 guy sit at brie while the other one afk kills lupi and i bet people use the brie skip/exploit to afk kill lupi in p3 and p4 too.
What sucks is that even legit sellers get screwed over sometimes because of those.
Too bad that we’ll probably not see any fix to those exploits until scarlet invades arah or something.
Are you insinuating that the white knights who kill instances of dungeon sellers are doing it because people exploit? and that the legit runners of the path are getting the short end of the stick because of it?
I don’t care one way or the other, in fact, if anything I think anet should ban the people who kill other people’s instances. It’s childish, rude and unnecessary. People should worry about themselves and things that affect them and not what other people are doing, even if it’s something you don’t like.
Maybe I am misunderstanding your post, but it sounds like you don’t like the people who don’t do it legit as if they are some kind of scum? What is the difference how people get to the end to sell the path?
Disclaimer: I am not a seller and I would never buy a path from someone to complete it.
This is something anet should address but won’t because it annoys players and makes it slightly harder to do dungeon farming.
If you mean expand crafting to included crafting all ascended stuff, well you are in luck because they already did so you can craft anything but accessories, amulets and rings.
(edited by Moderator)
I think the length was good when it was part of the LS, but now that is gone and the path is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too long especially when comparing it to the rest of TA (and even the other dungeons).
I would say it’s probably run about the same or less. My guess is most of the people running it are working on DM title. I used to see TAFU posts in lfg tool all the time. I think I saw an aether post once.
Could have posted this in one of the 300 other dredge fractal threads.
Not going to happen unless anet sells it as a “convenience item” in the gem store.
With things like this not being changed after all this time, I start to wonder if anet really does like to annoy players as much as possible.
Only one I received.
1. Only stat combinations that are NOT craftable can be salvaged for the insignias.
2. Yes, you can salvage dungeon armor for the insignia’s as long as they are of the stat combos that will give the insignia’s.
Can’t remember which few stat combos are salvageable off the top of my head so I won’t put incorrect information here. Someone else can chime in with that list.
It was too easy to get karma before that patch, but now it’s just stupid. Sometimes the devs should think for a second about the things they are doing.
This game would be so different (for the better) if they actually stopped to think for literally one second.
Classic case of overcompensation.
It’s not a question of market stability. With some foresight, it’s evident that Damask will always grossly outprice Deldrimor or Elonian.
Not necessarily true. Most people will make 2-3+ weapons because you can wield 1-4 weapons at a time. However, most people will only make one set of ascended armor and once they are done, the demand for mats will drastically decrease, thus lowering prices.
The guys who paid up front for Bolts of Damask might yet have the last laugh.
Absolutely not. Damask will come down in price along with silk and linen when people finish up their first set of armor. Your statement is that of overreaction just like everyone else freaking out because material prices are high right now.
Damask is going down, linen and silk up and they will continue to rise. Nobody is overreacting – it’s pretty obvious that anet made mistake.
Most of you are overacting. Damask won’t really go down in price as long as the mats continue to rise so much.
There was a first wave of people who crafted damask and then bought the rest off the TP to finish their sets. The next wave of people, the one we are in now, are still crafting their set day by day leaving no surplus and using all the mats.
After everyone finishes crafting their first set (36 days from the patch), people will either stop crafting damask all together and the prices of the mats will go down and so will damask with it. OR people will still craft damask and sell it on the TP, undercutting each other until it sells for cheap on the TP. Either way, once the large part of the population who is crafting their first set is done, prices will fall and supply will overshadow demand again, driving prices down. You can’t say anet made a mistake 2 weeks after the patch when demand is still largely outstripping supply.
It’s been two weeks since patch. Most people aren’t even done crafting a set yet. Give it some time. In two months if prices aren’t falling, come back and complain.
The guys who paid up front for Bolts of Damask might yet have the last laugh.
Absolutely not. Damask will come down in price along with silk and linen when people finish up their first set of armor. Your statement is that of overreaction just like everyone else freaking out because material prices are high right now.
I know people have gotten both achievements, but yes they are bugged. It would be better if anet stopped making achievements like this that easily bug.
Cranked my point about the language was simply that people may join that dont speak english to great, or read it to well or at all but could speak it enough on TS to pass muster. You cant guarantee just because you write it its understood, so take a second to talk to them pre-whatever.
PS; And no I never use a bear, under any circumstances whatsoever.
This may sound harsh, but frankly, I don’t care if they can’t read or understand English. There is a reason you can put a description into the lfg system. If you cannot read it, then don’t join assuming it’s a party you are fit for. I don’t always put “speed run, exp only, know the path”, but when I do, I expect that people take the 2 seconds to read it and respect what I am asking for.
Why should anyone have to carry someone threw a dungeon during a speed run? It wouldn’t really be a speed run anyway if you have to stop and explain each and every section of the dungeon now would it? You are basically asking everyone to change the way they spend their in game time to accommodate people who can’t or won’t read the lfg and can’t or won’t respect other people’s time.
I never liked the idea of gear checking or having 500 options in the lfg to weed out only a small subset of people in a group. But, the more I read threads like this, I wish there was a way. Would be nice to put “Zerk only, know the path” and actually get people who fit the description instead of 80% of the time getting a cleric guardian build who spams staff 1 all day and doesn’t know what 1-4 is in coe p1.
Anet failed here bigtime, comparing same types of gear ascended and exotic and we can see an improovement in ascended gear giving +2 stats per piece and for thoose 2 stats we need to spend 40G to 60 depends.
This is a big fail please increase the ascended stats to make it worthy to get.
Another typical casual player with their lack of view ….
Oh the irony. In your “lack of view”, you fail to realize what ascended gear would be like if the stat increases were actually “worth it”. If ascended gear actually added 10-20% stat increase coupled with time gating, this game would not only become WoW, but think of the level of QQing on the forums if that were actually the case. What you see now would be nothing comparatively.
This is why you speculate before crafted gear is released. Did this for Ascended weapons. Did this for Ascended armor. And I did this for Ascended jewelers.
To be fair, If everyone speculated, no one would make profit.
Having said that, I don’t agree with people on this subject. I think this is just another overreaction to price increases. People have a short memory about stuff like this. Look back to the prices of Ori, Ancient wood, iron ore, soft wood logs, and so on….. It was all sky high when ascended weapons came out. Few months later, all the prices are down and far more reasonable. I don’t know how many threads I have said this in, but the prices are really high because there is an initial demand on these materials that were rarely used before now. Give it some time and prices will come down and probably a lot sooner than you think.
The reality is, most of you should be taking the opportunity here to make a profit while prices are high instead of QQing about them. I have made a ton of gold crafting damask and selling these high priced mats. In 2 months, when the “have to have it now” crowd is gone, I will have made enough gold to craft ascended armor for free and still have some left over.
1-4 isnt a lot of information to someone who may have run the path a few times but not be 100% clued up on what the mechanics are. It also relies on you knowing they know what 1-4 means. Simply ask them if they know what to do, then state a plan of attack. Makes things a whole lot easier and smoother when everyone is on the same page.
If you I put “know the path”, you should know what 1-4 means. And if you don’t, you should speak up before going into the room. I don’t mind explaining, but silence which leads to 1-1-1-1-1 is completely unacceptable when the lfg says “speed run, know the path”.
Also non-english speakers populate the servers, so your LFG notation is not guaranteed to be understood no matter what you write.
So, what you are saying is that I shouldn’t write anything and let anyone join because they don’t know English very well?
But here is the thing, how is a new player supposed to GET experienced at the content if a guiding hand is not there to show them the ropes? I mean I took a look at LFG earlier and the listings for CoE & fractals 0-10. All of the listings stated “experienced only”, “speed-run” or “Wars only” with 10+ listings for each.
I have no problem running paths with inexperienced players as long as they speak up about it. Most people who ask for help and want to learn get the job done the first time because they listen and follow instructions. Why would anyone want to wipe 15 times in a row, because people don’t know what to do and don’t respond in party chat when you ask if they know what to do?
I have absolutely no problem taking new players through any piece of content ive done, or even not so new players who haven’t done specific content yet. All I ask is that they tell me it’s new to them so I can explain to them and get everything going properly.
Exactly. As I said above, I said “1-4, stack and I’ll defend”, if you don’t know what that means, ask. That seemingly never happens.
And one last point; Stop kicking players as soon as they join without a word. I main a ranger but I have 4 other characters I can pick from to do content. When I join a team, and Im with a class you dont need, or want just say so and Ill change over to an alt. To many times now Ive joined a party and been kicked without a word, just because I have a ranger. NEWS FLASH PEOPLE; Not everyone is a bearbow, and wet behind the ears.
I really don’t think I have ever kicked someone from a group for not contributing/knowing the path/being bad. The only time I have ever kicked someone is for being afk for long periods without saying anything or for DCing and not being back in a timely fashion.
Maybe people would be more welcoming to newer players more often if ANYONE would ever read lfg posts. I can’t tell you how many times I put “speed run”, “80’s only”, “know the path”, blah blah…. and don’t get what I ask for.
For example. CoE p1 the other day. Put something like “know the path, speed run”. What do I get? An entire group who doesn’t know what 1-4 means. I even said right before going into the room: “1-4, stack at side of panel after 1 and i’ll defend at 4”. What do I get? A group who ends up doing 1-1-1-1-1 and not stacking on the side of the panel. Seriously? As soon as more than 50% of people read the lfg posts and actually respect them, I will take more time to help others.
I, for one, enjoy contested dungeons. They really add up to the immersion.
It’s also highly realistic. Imagine having to go to the store. You can’t just teleport there, you have to fight through either traffic or the endless hoard of noobs. Every grocery run is an adventure, as is opening a dungeon.
Glad to hear. Please come to TC and keep CoF open for us at all times. We would really appreciate it.
Also, your analogy doesn’t make sense. First, as said above, you like traffic? Second, you CAN teleport in this game. In fact, you can teleport straight to the entrance, so I guess I am not seeing your point.
I must be blind.
He is black and he is where the floor panels are missing to the right of the boss.
I would say it largely depends on the player skill and knowledge of the dungeon.
I started a FoTM group two weeks ago for 20. Another group of 3 necros merged party with me and, of course, I immediately wanted to leave. So, I made a comment about having too much condi damage and hoping they all weren’t all specced that way (they were from the same guild). They said no. Ended up being one of the smoothest PUG groups I have had, especially considering we had 3 necros. Granted, that was with a 5 man party, but the same applies anywhere.
Your not forced to craft anything unless you feel you NEED Ascended armor.
Very good point and I will expand on it a little.
It’s just like Legendary items. You don’t need one, but if you want one you need items from all over Tyria. Which basically forces you to go out of your comfort zones and do different things. Ascended armor/weapons is the same thing. In order to craft them, you have to go out and do things you may or may not like to obtain them. Neither one is necessary to play this game and all the pressure you feel on getting ascended stuff is self imposed.
Note: Before you say: “But you can buy legendaries off the TP”, anet already admitted that was a mistake and they are right about that.
there is no “mad rush” for ascended armor, I dont know anyone in my friendlist who is rushing it, personally I am even skipping it if i dont get it as a drop
There always is a mad rush for new stuff in anything in life, not just limited to video games. You can bet there are many people crafting armor right now. That is evident in the prices of materials at the moment. Everyone wants the new shiny object of desire, you are just seeing the opposite from a small sample size of people in your guild.
I do, however like your suggestion of demoting mats. Although, gossamer is way more expensive than silk already so more than likely it would be no where near profitable to demote.
It is anet’s way of time gating to get people to log in every day. I don’t necessarily like it but I see what they are trying to accomplish.
Having said that, I look at it two ways.
1. Crafting, while boring and tedious at times, is really easy. Follow a guide and spend 30 minutes to max craft. Then it’s like 20 seconds a day in refining time. Not really that bad in the grand scheme of things.
2. Something like this is much better than some terrible RNG plan they would likely implement in it’s place. Do you really want to be grinding some dungeon or other area at a chance to get ascended stuff? I’d rather stick to something that is guaranteed (like crafting), at least I know I will have it the day I finish crafting it.
Yes. Anet reset the discovery of all exotics so it was easier for us to level up to 500. You can still make them, you just need to rediscover.
Protip: Refine ori and gossamer to 425. Will save you some coin.
Silk’s not going back to its original price — that was 1 c over vendor. I just tried to buy 210 scraps at 1s 18c but by the time I clicked Buy they were gone and it stayed up at 1s 37kittenil I gave up and decided to farm the stuff during world exploration.
It probably won’t ever go down to vendor price again. However, what you are seeing now is the mad rush for people to get their ascended armor set done. Where the final balance comes, I don’t know. All depends on how much is being hoarded again. I think Silk is one of the most abundant items in game next to mithril. When it was cheap, I was getting 10k buy orders filled in like a couple minutes, so I know there is a LOT of it being generated which means after the people rushing to get ascended are done, the price will come back down.
I don’t think there will be too many people crafting multiple sets of ascended armor, so once that first group of people finish, it should start to settle.
I can’t imagine them introducing JC to 500 and not making it desirable in some way. There would be no point to it.
in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t matter.
However considering the build versatility of guardians and the probability that you may want to build your own sets, I would say put armorsmith on guardian.
Why? Everything you craft is account bound and can be swapped to other characters. I have armorsmith to 500 on my Mesmer and change everything over to my warrior whenever I craft something.
If you already have the crafts leveled, don’t waste the time or gold to change them around.
Is this guy right? I still see a very high price for those specifically crafted exotic armor pieces on the TP. Seems to me that some people are convinced you can get insignia’s from crafted armor.
Zaxares is correct, you cannot salvage crafted armor for insignias. The reason the crafted armor on the TP is so expensive, like the sentinel’s for example, is because the price is a lot more to craft it.
I think a lot of the “play how I want” talk comes from people who ask for build advice then tell everyone here how wrong they are.
Another thing is people constantly want to run these support builds, which aren’t really necessary in this game. People come here from other MMO’s where the trinity is the norm and act like they are helping the team with their low DPS builds that heal a little, when in fact it causes more harm than good.
Zerk is the meta for a reason, not because that’s the way people want to play. This games design is, for the most part, a DPS race. A Large part of that stems from lack of creativity in game mechanic design and hard hitting mobs/bosses with large health pools.
I PUG because I am not in a guild and I will say this. You can tell when people are running zerk and when they aren’t. I can’t ever remember a time where a group with mostly/full zerk wiped in a dungeon, things die too fast. On the other hand, when I am in an obviously low DPS group, wipes can and do occur fairly often.
My guess would be that a big portion of the silk that was available pre patch got used to promote into gossamer.
I know a lot of silk was used for this pre-patch. I bought probably 50k-70k scraps if not more and converted it all to gossamer in the days leading up to the patch and I could not have been the only one doing it.
Maybe reduce the ecto refine recipe to 50 bolts of silk…
It’s too late for that now. Can you imagine the QQing on the forum of all the people who already made a ton of Damask at 100 bolts per?
Personally, I think the price of silk rising is a good thing in the long run as long as it doesn’t get crazy high. Plus, most of this price increase is the initial surge of people trying to craft their first set. Give it 4-5 weeks and the price will settle. The more concerning thing is Linen at the moment.
@Wanze: Working As Intended, didn’t you know?
Prices for linen and cotton now are normal.
Lower level items from drop now have some value.
What do you mean by normal? I like what they did with silk. Taking a mat that was at vendor value on the TP and finding a way to increase it was a good idea, especially since it didn’t get ridiculously high.
On the other hand, stuff like linen and cotton was always at a fair price. Not too high and not too low. Certainly way above vendor value, but now it’s getting a little out of hand. Keep in mind stuff like linen and cotton drop from lower level bags and salvage from lower level light armor. There is a much larger portion of the population at level 80 that doesn’t see a ton of drops of lower level stuff, hence one of the reasons the supply is starting to dry up. I remember many people on this forum predicting this would happen simply because there is no real good way to farm this stuff like running to a node as there is for metal and wood.
They really need to take Wanze’s suggestion and do something about it before linen gets to 20s. And all you people were worried about silk prices? LOL
Me and another 2 guys just got booted at the fourth fractal by the other 2, both from the same guild. That problem can and should be attenuated by making it necessary at least a third vote for booting someone out.
Getting the system changed to three people needed won’t solve all the problems like people think it will. If players can find a way to grief, they always will and no system ever created will change that. I do agree it should be a majority vote, but people need to stop acting like this will solve all the kicking problems.
Great system, I just got booted from a level 5 fractal for refusing to use a staff when I was told. Play the way you want to, yeah right.
I have no idea what situation you were in, but games where you team up with other players are not “play how you want” games. If you are in a party trying to accomplish a certain goal and it can be done faster/better by changing what you are doing or changing what you are doing would be a help to the team, why would you not do that?
Should I join a group and run around killing random mobs and not helping the team because that’s how I want to play? If you want to play how you want, do content solo.
At least you can find the jumping puzzle. I’ve searched across all of Tyria and no one can tell me where the Jumping Puzzle is located.
In the main area of Lion’s Arch by the mystic forge. It’s the “winter wonderland” activity. It’s highlighted on your map by a peppermint symbol.
Google is your friend when you need information, but alas, it seems like people like to cleverly act like things are impossible to find when all the information you will ever need is right at your finger tips.
What mathers is that you play what you want and feel confortable to. Just because some meta says you to play something doesnt mean you have to. As long as your doing very good
Crippling yourself because its more fun is at the cost of 4 other players in the group. This is known as being selfish.
Technically speaking that would be the detriment of 3 other players. OP said he runs with his girlfriend who apparently doesn’t mind the extra long runs either.
Please don’t run PVT armor in dungeons. Bare Minimum is Knight’s with as much zerk as you can handle before you feel you go down too much.
I always see people lfg for the instances.
But to answer your question. You can’t repeat the ones that are infinite for an infinite amount of points toward the meta, they all only count as one. You can, however, do the daily achievements to advance the meta. They can be found under the “daily” tab of the achievement panel, today’s was “hit 10 skrit with a snowball”.
I’m wishing I had bought more stacks of Silk than I did. XD I didn’t expect it to go THIS high though.
On the consumer side though, if you’ll just be patient, Silk prices will more than likely fall back to a much more reasonable level in the coming months. Prices are sky-high right now because everybody is rushing to craft their Ascended armor. In a month or two, when people have done that, supply of Silk will most likely outpace demand again. (Right now it’s about balanced, so it’s unlikely to go any higher.)
Pretty much this^^
So much overreaction on these forums about every little thing that occurs. Does anyone have any semblance of patience anymore these days?
It’s no different than Ori and Ancient wood skyrocketing to 9s and 15s respectively when Ascended weapons were released. The supply can’t keep up with demand and prices rise. Look at the prices of those mats now. Most people will craft one set of ascended armor and be done as it costs so much to make them. Slowly, as those people finish, prices will balance out and fall.
I think most people are especially critical of this because silk scraps were always so plentiful and people always expected them to be cheap. As Zaxares said, it’s only going to be expensive for the people who have to have that small stat increase this very minute. I have been selling all my Damask since day one and will continue to do so until prices level out and fall. I love logging in every day for a free 10 gold.
Keep in mind that it’s likely supply on the TP didn’t rise beyond that 3 million mark because once Silk hit 8c each, players realised they’d earn more money just merching Silk stacks to a vendor than putting it on the TP. There was likely a lot more Silk supply in the game than what was being shown on the TP.
Maybe those NPC’s who bought all that silk from players should list it on the TP and make a huge profit…… =)
Please remove the user name as you are not allowed to single out specific players or groups on the forums. You should email Anet instead.
Don’t waste your time emailing. Anet won’t do anything and you can’t vet people publicly on the forums so your SOL. Also, anet doesn’t care.
I ran around for a long time before I realized there was a ladder looking structure laid horizontally kind of near the center of the map a little away from where that giant present spawns after beating the golem.
EDIT: Moral of the story, hit things even if you don’t think it’s something that can be smashed. Like others have said Staff 1 and flamethrower work great for spamming areas.
What level are you? And where are you already getting 7-10 gold just from events?
Running dungeons is probably the most profitable with a good group only behind playing the TP.
Dungeons are fast leveling. Find a group and run it with your lvl 80 and politely ask if you can switch chars at the end for the exp. Most groups I have ever been in were cool about that.
No such thing exists that I know of. If you go to the GW2 wiki site, you can find maps of Tyria and you can compare the maps to what you have unlocked. It’s actually pretty easy to find what you missed in most cases by really looking at the outskirts of the map for areas that are greyed out but look like they should still be part of the map.
