Well grape prices sure skyrocketed. Did someone invest perhaps?
I think one of the reasons for this is to funnel players to the areas that anet wants them to play in.
It was a bad idea when they talked about it 3 months ago and I don’t think much has changed since then.
But to answer your question, there has been no further talk of it.
Back to topic, what I want to explain myself in those post is the bug that occured cousing a loss of 45 minutes and I don’t know if million people “whine” about this every day.
There is only two possibilities.
1. You actually started the instance and somehow didn’t realize it. Maybe you had created the instance, logged for a while or something then came back on the same toon and it was still your instance. Instances can linger for a long time even if you log out to the character select screen.
2. It bugged. I haven’t heard anyone ever say this happened to them, but that doesn’t mean it couldn’t.
@ all the people saying it takes hours, it is 5min max more than ZERKERS!! MAxmius runs. If that sometimes much faster. Cause floors mops be super dps.. Leetzors!
I feel like you are trolling me. Can’t tell if serious…..
Can someone please post some videos of these no-skip/any class/any build dungeon runs? I would love to see a 1 hour CoF P1 run.
That, sir, is epic. The party chat had me dying.
Cranked, on Mai Trin I got only the Healing Spring, condi signet and Prayer to Kormir. My cleric warrior is a shout healer. Got a lot more HP than ranger and ofc the 3 shouts that heal around 2,5k HP each + runes of the soldier that remove my and party members conditions which is the key to beating Mai Trin. So my warrior is far more useful on Mai than ranger.
It may have just bugged out, who knows. Either way, it isn’t something that changed on anet’s part.
I run full zerk warrior and all I need to combat conditions in the Mai Trin fight is “shake it off” coupled with the ability to stand in the correct position and dodge at the appropriate times.
You can’t buy ascended weapons/armor with gold. You can buy most of the components needed (i.e. deldrimor ingots/bolts of damask/spiritwood planks). You need to farm the additional ingredients yourself to make the vision crystals and that would include the empyreal stars (dungeons), bloodstone dust (champ bags) and dragonite ore (world boss events).
I don’t think you will find many people who disagree with this sentiment. However, they want you to go out and play every aspect of the game in order to get ascended stuff. Kind of goes against the whole “play how you want” philosophy, but it is what it is.
I don’t know what to think regarding RNG in this game.
It’s easy to say that some accounts are luckier than others or it’s broken because you can come up with one or two examples of people that you know.
It’s also just as easy to say “RNG is RNG” and that anet says it really is random so it must be true. We will never know either way, so no sense in dwelling on it.
My own experience with RNG: I get exotics once in a while and a fair amount of rares. Never got a precursor. Had one ascended weapon chest drop in fractals that I can’t use anyway. Funny thing is, I ran 100’s of fractals and struggled to get enough mist essence to infuse the two rings I have on my main. As soon as I got enough mist essence for those two rings, I got 6 shards in the next 10 runs that I don’t even need now. Go figure.
Can someone please post some videos of these no-skip/any class/any build dungeon runs? I would love to see a 1 hour CoF P1 run.
I don’t know why you assume it won’t take you 6 months to a year to grind the mats needed to craft a precursor. It isn’t like it’s going to take 20 gold in mats. I would just start farming gold now if I were you. You are going to need lots of it one way or another.
Why did you make two topics about this?
I’m suggesting this to make the game in accordance with the spirit of anti-farm and grind as it should be, and to avoid it to go even further in the wrong direction of cash-kitten games.
What spirit of anti-farm/anti-grind? It is obvious at this point that GW2 is becoming/has become a grindy game. Certainly not as kittenome games, but still grindy in it’s own right.
Also, as was said above, anet has no motivation to do what you ask as gem sales are what drive anet’s profits. You should just be happy that you are even allowed to convert gold to gems.
…..so I playing as a ranger reloged on my cleric warrior, and then we got all kicked…….
Say Wha….?
On topic, you must have opened the instance and not realized it. Re-logging to a different toon will kill the instance every time though. If I were you in that situation having felt lucky that you all didn’t get kicked because you thought the char had opened the instance, I would have just played it out and been happy rather than changing toons. What was your cleric’s warrior going to do so much better than your ranger anyway?
I’d love it if they got rid of soul bound and stuck with Account Bound. Sometimes, when I replace an armor set with a new one, I’d like to give the old set to one of my other characters.
The problem is you are taking away a good size gold sink. If you are able to move armor/legendaries/weapons amongst toons, far less people would spend gold on new armor/weapons.
IDK why Anet puts so many location restrictions on harmless items like these so often. If it doesn’t give you an advantage in combat, stats and so on and are purely visual, I don’t see why they’re not usable everywhere.
But what if you are blinded by the radiant sheen of the halo when in pvp? Sounds like an advantage to me…..
This is one of the main reasons why the world is in the shape it is. People being offended by everything and shaming others into conforming to what they feel is the “right” thing. Sad world we live in these days…..
they CANNOT release the dye sets a mere month after just releasing them….i mean they cant be that dumb
The Flame and Frosts sets were released a year ago, not a month.
But I assume you talk about the other dye sets? Why not?
If some people could decide they would have them in there at all time.
It isn’t really dumb at all. They don’t gain more money from waiting a year between selling them.
He is saying it would be a dumb idea to release them one month after the last time they released them, which would be right about the end of the LS arc.
Easiest solution would be to have a little icon that always shows the persons AR level.
@Atriusthegid
I realize why people roll swamp, I do it as well. I was being somewhat facetious given the fact that 50% of the groups I end up in don’t know how to run the wisps well and yet every single lfg post is “lvl x, swamp rolled”
No. It was just a terrible excuse to reset progress that they figured everyone would forget about anyway since no one wanted it in the first place.
It is built into the base structure of the game. They would need to rewrite the entire instance and grouping code from scratch to fix this issue. Since this would cost time and money and they can’t sell it in the gem store it is unlikely to ever happen.
Maybe you are on to something here. They should sell an item in the gem store that allows you to go into a dungeon and get your rewards no matter if the party leader leaves or not. 1000 gems sounds about right…..
Fortunately, the next CDI for PvE is about the Fractals!

They haven’t started the thread yet, but these ideas of yours should go in there once it starts if you want your ideas to possibly help shape the game.
That whole thread is a waste of time. They will go on with it for days and, in the end, the only thing that will change is they will add more dredge.
Not sure why everyone wants to roll swamp all the time and then you get in there and not a single person knows how to run the wisps. It’s like people were told it’s the easiest so they do it blindly, but you could do uncategorized twice as fast because it takes 2 hours to run the wisps.
Nice. I hope the person lost a lot of gold. Noone should have that much gold anyway.
We could always put you in charge of how much gold each person has so that you are happy with the amount of stuff everyone has. I have a little over 100 gold right now, is that OK with you?
On topic, while I don’t think it’s funny he lost that much gold, I don’t feel sorry for anyone in this situation. If you want to play the TP, this is the possible price you pay for not paying attention.
The drawback to what you are asking is people could be real kittens with the guild they are in and then change the name of the guild and most people would not know/remember who it was acting the way they did.
Keeping guild names from ever changing gives people incentive to act more mature.
Is anything going to be done about the massive amounts of lag the last couple days? Pretty fun pressing skill buttons and having them work 3 minutes later, but was more fun when they actually worked right after pressing them.
You shouldn’t be clicking your skills to use them, you should be pressing the appropriate corresponding number keys. For movement, use the mouse by holding the left and right mouse buttons down to go forward. That will free up your left hand to press the number keys. Takes time to get used to if you are learning PC gaming, but get in good habits from the beginning and it will pay in the long run.
Someone made a decision that wasn’t thought out. Obviously when a t2 mat costs>2x the corresponding t6 and the t4 costs >5.5x as much as the t6 something is amiss. Will we ever hear anything about it? Probably not, it’s very hard for ppl to admit mistakes and we will most times do anything to avoid doing so even it it effects other ppl.
I pretty much think this is working as intended to give new players, who lvl their first toon, a chance to earn gold through regular gameplay at a rate that is closer to end game gold farming.
If that is truly the reason, it is a poor one. It doesn’t take that long to level a toon to 80 and you don’t need to earn gold at a high rate when at that stage of the game. Plus the fact that you shouldn’t gain gold at the same rate as end game content especially considering the end game stuff is meant to be much harder which, in turn, should reward you more.
I think its way more challenging to do a map completion on level on your own than running the champ train with a lvl 80.
Champ trains are not end game content. They are a byproduct of the introduction of champ bags.
Also, I thought about what you said a little more and I do agree to a point. What they did with metal was good because it was farmable. Doing the same thing with fabric was poorly thought out. I don’t believe for a second they ever meant linen to get over 8 silver.
40 scraps of linen are farmed incredicly fast when you know which mobs drop the right bags/garments/rags.
I think you know what I mean in the differences between farming metal and farming cloth. Everyone knows where the nodes are, most players don’t know where to farm linen and I think that the price on the TP reflects that.
Exactly, so the price of Linen can be accounted to lazy players who rather run the champ train and pay inflated prices on the tp to players who farm it in the appropriate maps.
It’s not necessarily laziness. Many players probably have no idea where to get 40 loot bags “incredibly fast”. Most 80’s never play on the low level maps. Even then, loot bags drop lots of different mats and not just linen so it’s not like it’s something you can actually just farm for reasonably like a mining node.
It happens because it’s easy for people to be kittens when they are sitting in front of a monitor as a nameless faceless person. But, we all already know that. People’s true colors are easily exposed with anonymity.
I always find these threads kind of amusing in a sense. I always think to myself, “is this the first time the OP has ever been on the internet?”

Romek has a good point about nerfing champ trains.
What they should do is make it so that you can only get one champ bag per champ per day. Would reset daily like everything else and then people wouldn’t bother running around killing champs for 5 bags a day.
This is not needed. If they wanted to infuse more cloth into the market they could simply adjust the drop rates.
Plus, there is no way to really balance the amount of cloth coming into the market if it is left up to players to create it. It will never happen and isn’t a very good idea.

The 2 new craftable backs cant be infused, you will have to make a infused fractal back and transmute it together.
This really sucks and I have asked why not let us infused them, but seems no one cares.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/crafting/New-Ascended-Backs-cant-infuse/first#post3385887
It’s not that they don’t care. They want you to run fractals to get your infusible back piece as that is the only place you need it anyway. It just makes sense that way. The new recipes are just a way to allow people another option to get an ascended back item without having to run fractals.
I have never received a fractal weapon. The best thing I got was a knight’s ascended chest, but even that is useless to me.
Don’t you think that if it was designed poorly it would have already been redesigned?
Circular reasoning. There’s a lot of stuff overlooked by the developers, and Fractals and dungeons certainly are one of them.
So you are saying that the people that manage this product have overlooked something? I doubt that.
This made me LOL so freakin hard I almost spit out my drink.
The subtlety and word choice are pure genius.
Turn the settings down in your options tab.
In a run the other day a guy was lagging so bad when he would pick up a wisp it would cause him to drop it right away and reset it. He finally said the lag was too bad he had to drop out and he left. So, it isn’t just you unless that was you I was partied with the other day.
PvE Players complain about Gift of Exploration requiring going into WvW. Devs make Gift of battle even more WvW-dependant.
Ah, the logic…This is a good change. Legendary weapons should require participation in all aspects of the game.
The problem with that is people who don’t want to do wvw will now spend a lot more time there. This will lead to people not doing a whole lot to help, but rather just enough to get their rank up thus hurting your team in the process.
It’s official. Anet actually hates it’s player base.
Join my groups. I have gotten dredge once in like 30 runs. Thankfully, the group I was in was good.
Having said that, I expect to get dredge every time now.
Poorly thought out……. -err- working as intended.
They won’t do anything about it. They either want you to buy gems to convert to gold or spend 12 hours a day logged in to farm the mats.
As said above, you are the 1 millionth person to post this.
1. Salvaging is the obvious answer
2. Putting in 4 rings and getting a different one you don’t need is just a waste. I would rather sell them for 5s. Maybe put 4 regular and get an infused or something?
3. Still like the salvage idea better.
You can “deposit all collectibles” in the backpack screen. Not sure why you would need to craft anywhere but in a town. You can always go to wvw for free to craft.
On the surface some folks are asking for upgrades, but what they are actually asking for is a product release model that does not devalue their past purchases, a model that does not leave them feeling like a sucker or have them counting how many times they have been fooled.
But it has always been like this with the world. The new version of Windows is suppose to be better (i.e. more features) than the previous one and you would have to pay to upgrade to that newer version. Same with other software like Microsoft Office or computers. I never complained when newer PCs come with newer and better features than the one I bought 10 years ago. I never complained when newer Toyotas come with better features than the one I bought 10 years ago. So on and so forth.
The reason why these companies bother to keep building better versions of their old products is because they need to entice people to keep buying from them. ArenaNet has the same need, so I don’t see what is so surprising or disappointing about their actions. This should be expected. How else are they going to survive? Furthermore, they have never ever promised that the molten pick would be the best-in-class pick forever and ever. Some of you guys just imagined this extra sales clause in your heads.
They have also never promised free upgrades to the best-in-class pick with all its features forever and ever. That is another thing that complainers HOPE for but that doesn’t means ArenaNet is obliged to provide for free. It has never been in their sales agreement when they bought the molten pick.
Let me start by setting the record straight. I have the MAMP. I don’t plan to ever buy the sprocket pick and it has nothing to do with the complaints on the forums. I am perfectly happy with the on I have and don’t need sprockets. I don’t care what anet does so I have no horse in this race.
Having said that, your constant analogies about MS office and cars are not even close to applicable here. First off, when you buy windows you do get free upgrades for a LONG time. If this particular pick was released 10 years after the other one and people were complaining, I would be inclined to agree with you. However, it was released 2 months ago. If Microsoft released new versions of windows every two months and made you buy the latest version to get all the new features at a price tag of $129 would you accept that?
To your point about people wanting free upgrades: I think a lot of people would be happy to be able to spend 100 gems to add on the additional ability to get sprockets. But, instead they would have to flush $12 down the drain by getting rid of their old pick and buy the new pick for another $12 and then another in two months and so on…. I think for the most part people don’t mind spending money on gems to support the game, but stuff like this is crazy and you can’t deny that.
I also find it very interesting that they don’t mention anything about the ability to mine sprockets in the description in the gem store. I don’t know why, but it has suspicious behavior written all over it.
Spoj is right. It’s one thing to buy a few paths to get the DM title. It’s another thing to buy hundreds of runs for some slayer title. I think stuff like that would be pretty safely earned the legitimate way.
I’m not asking pugs to play any way. They can play however the hell they want.
Sounds like a wonderful PR message there.
People are free to play any way they want. No one really cares. The problem arises when these same PUG’s who want to play the way they want constantly join speed run/zerk only/meta build only runs. At that point, I am not being allowed to play the way I want. All you folks who want to run garbage builds are just kindly asked to do it in your own groups and stop joining groups that clearly advertise for something else.
You can’t have it both ways.
I repeatedly get kicked out of groups for not playing a Guardian or Warrior, and sometimes even receive major hate for maining a ranger. I don’t know what has to be done to change this, but something needs to change. I am getting sick of getting kicked from fractal groups for simply not playing a heavy armor class. Nerf heavies into the ground, buff mediums and lights, add a report option for kick abuse. I don’t care which, just do it so I don’t have to be forced to play 2/8 classes from fear of being kicked otherwise. The foundation of this game is supposed to be about playing what you want how you want, but with the way things are now, that is impossible to do without getting some sort of grief in return.
Patience is limited. Sometimes this crap just makes me want to quit the game for months at a time.
Do you even realize the irony in that statement? The people kicking you are playing with heavy classes only and that is the way they want to play.
I didn’t read through the whole thread because this is about the 10029949247th time someone posted about this and the answer is always “make your own group”.
