I’d dig Vabbian for my Thief.
Too many people mistakenly translated “no zerker meta” in their head as “zerker will now be garbage and nobody will use it” me thinks….
Like many who have migrated to GW2 from other MMO’s your failing to see that the things you miss are intentional points of difference and design choices designed to attract the original player base that made this game so successful in the first place.
Please don’t expect this game to conform to such banality and unoriginality. If you want a cookie-cutter MMO there are hundreds to choose from.
Also, by new I meant new for the guardian, not new in general.
Therein lies my problem with the whole spec.
If I wanted this playstyle I would have rolled a ranger or thief 3 years ago. Thing is I’m not into pewpewing and setting traps and it was my understanding that this class was a support based melee class, with a ranged option like all the classes no doubt, but still founded on being most effective when wacking things face to face in the heart of battle while also having the ability to throw out team support.
Awesome.I’m in thanks.
This spec does nothing to compliment the Guardian play-style as originally promoted and actually goes totally against the grain with very little synergy, 3 years of timesink after the fact.
I know many are loving it, more power to them, but it’s like giving ele’s a “Gun slinger” elite spec when they clearly rolled the class to cast fireballs and freeze dudes.
Like wtf?
Setting traps and pewpewing are new?
Go figure.
Notice the almost unanimous usage of a SINGLE build?
It baffles me that others fail to grasp the import, significance and relevance of this obvious trend.
The amount of people making these broad and sweeping statements that the class just needs to adapt, L2P, or just generally “chill out man…you guys is fine…SB#5, stealth and +1 remember?….it’s still rocking top tier….k going back to my mains section….cya” seem to be completely ignorant to this and it’s insulting to those that actually do main the class without wanting to be retroactively nerfed and pigeon-holed into one singular role and build that falls over dead at the slightest error….or when farted on.
Just such bad play from Anet. They should have learnt from GW1’s Assassin and realized they simply aren’t good at designing and implementing such classes into a working, fair and balanced meta.
I know everyone seems to be on the “Karl…all on you bro…u suck!!!Wah..wah!!” bandwagon atm but seriously, look at Anets history with this class type.
If Revenant isn’t a clearly and blatantly obvious second attempt to get it right, (while hoping for us all to jump ship and erase this whole horrible mess from our memories) , I’m not sure what is.
One thing you learn when playing MMORPG for long enough.
Alway have a back up…..
Look on the bright-side.
At least we are actually discussing a build other than D/P…even…if only for a moment.
The anti-mount people,
Give it up, we already have mounts in the game (broom/carpet).
Which a tiny minority uses….as opposed to every second person being on some completely ludicrous, and knowing Anet, complete immersion breaking pink fluro dragon looking creature or what-ever-equivalent you can think of.
Can you imagine how much more eye bleedingly bad zergs and hubs would be? The wings and glow-sticks are bad enough.
I’d have no issue with a “horse stable” service or some such where you could rent a generic looking horse to get around on that ended once in combat but purchasable mounts would make the game even more of a cluster-kitten on the eyes than it already is and I don’t trust Anet in either showing restraint in art design or being able to implement the mechanics without serious graphical anomalies and annoyances to other players.
If they added an option where I could ignore them entirely and switch them off to just see other characters as per normal I’d be all for it but what’s a vanity item without the opportunity to be vain?
I hope they aren’t added. Not having them is currently a point of difference and adds to GW2’s charm and flavor while meanwhile just about every other game in the genre does the mount thing….so go play one.
I still don’t understand why would anyone pay to dungeon when you can find a party for free
Due to the difficulty of assembling a group that wants to do Arah explorable, I ultimately resorted to buying the paths. Otherwise, I would simply want to do them myself.
I don’t really care that much, but I do wish I could see more advertisements of people actually wanting to play the dungeon.
I dislike the fact that it’s a thing. Dungeon selling is the reason I refuse to PUG The Ruined City of Arah paths with anything less than two personal friends.
I once had a group of three people join and kick me right before the final boss, then list it on the LFG as a path sell.
All of the above are examples of what puts me off such things becoming a commodity although I can’t see how they would police it.
With HoT about to be the new flavor it saddens me that many new players will be forced to pay to get through such content and put themselves at the risk of getting ripped off or kicked at the final hurdle. It really cheapens the whole intent of the content to begin with and path selling does nothing to encourage pugging or new players to such content.
It actually says a lot about the game and the playerbase in general imho.
Your forgetting it’s the most popular/profitable end-game farm and how games like this work. You have to have such areas, nerf it and people will just QQ and then congregate on to the next most profitable area to farm ad nauseam. It’s how games like this work and it’s pretty obvious SW was designed from the ground up purely for this purpose.
Thanks for getting us raids in the game though OP.
None of it should require ascended.
Ever.
EVER.Ascended is a totally optional only needed for high level fractals stat level.
The instant it becomes required for anything else, ever, outside fractals, and we’re back to them violating the promises about stat tiers and ascended being totally optional.
Requirement creep is just as bad as power creep.

If there’s one uber high-end raid for such things all good but if I can’t complete 99% of the game in exotics as I can now or if it creates player segregation based purely on gear I’m out. I play GW2 specifically because it’s not one of those games. As it stands I can switch to alts easily for any content and gear them out as such cheaply. If this changes I can’t see myself playing much, if at all.
It’s also a terri-bad way to ascertain player skill. I have friends who play purely to grind and farm out gear, they have multiple characters fully geared out with ascended and legendaries yet struggle in any content that they aren’t familiar farming 24/7 while on the other hand I know players that completely ignore such things and steam-roll everything in the game naked with a rusty spoon.
Gear is by no means an accurate barometer or indicator of player skill. It simply means they have farmed…a lot.
All this does is decrease how much DPS a thief loses when they use P/P over D/D to range a boss down.

This types of threads are the reason, thief is in the state it’s in.

Hard to believe that with all the changes made this is your biggest concern OP?Do you main Mesmer by any chance?
It wasn’t a personal attack, you just took it that way. It was a question…do you actually know enough about MMO balancing to state it’s not that hard?
You’re not thinking of the bigger picture, for example the segregation this would create in the community, the effect all that balancing would have on neglect in other aspects of the game, etc, etc.
These side-effects seem pretty obvious if you put serious thought into it and again, Anet promote this game as being easy to transition, level and play in all modes so I just can’t see it happening.
Doesn’t mean they can’t do it right. It isn’t that hard.
Oh, so you know all about balancing an MMO then do you?
I honestly see this as creating more work for the devs which imho would create more issues than it would solve. Bugs and balancing issues already take an age to fix. This would increase that ten-fold.
You’re also neglecting that Anet has always wanted and promoted GW2, from day one, as having an open an easy transition between all formats of the game so players can take what they have learnt from one mode and jump straight into another only needing to learn the mode type and playstyle….not a whole new set of skill mechanics.
A pistol is used for stealth and daze access, not damage so who cares outside P/P which is just for lols anyway.
Ok…so we already know Anets record with balancing this game.
Your solution is to create two more games for them to balance.
You carebears need to chill out about this f2p “armageddon” on the way, it’s a paranoid and unfounded farce imho. Map chat has had idiots in it from day one and will do till this game dies, f2p or not.
I’d rather have freedom of speech and just ignore the dorks than the potentially abusive restrictions and penalties you suggest.
It’s an MMO, by no means an excuse for free reign of bad behaviour, but seriously it comes with the genre. Harden up or just turn it off and guild chat.
No.
The title is for the characters age, not your in-game time, pure and simple. Sorry you re-rolled so much but for others it’s a great reward for sticking with a character so long hence the terminology used.
I have no issue with a new title based on game time though, just leave these ones alone thx.

Tbh I was kind of expecting this might happen when the new trait system came out and was “bugged” in regards to the Trickster trait giving Flanking Strikes around 40% recharge reduction on haste (from 60sec to 36sec) as opposed to the 20% in the description (which should make it 48sec).
This still hasn’t been fixed last I checked. I mean……kitten me…..how hard can it be to either change the description or do some basic math?
Either 1 of three things has happened here, the description is wrong, Anet fail hard at basic math or lastly they just don’t care.
I’m as kittened off as the next thief but lol at the melodrama.
At the expense of encouraging gold farmers and buyers.
No thanks.
Think about it….
I don’t believe a word given the attitude shown.
Troll is troll.
Sorry if that’s out of line mods but seriously? Obvious baiting here.
Keep in mind that if you are healing you aren’t doing damage and therefore dragging on a fight and cooldowns are still lengthy. You are doing instanced content and people want to complete that instance as fast as possible.
Keep in mind having such an option allows other DPS focussed classes to drop healing skills and damage mitigation gear-sets altogether in order to focus on more DPS.
This may result in completing said content faster.
It consistently baffles me that people still complain about the lack of loot and drops when playing a game that from day one until now advertised, promoted and marketed itself as not being about loot and drops.
Sorry, ANet’s stance on rewards changed back in the period when guaranteed rare at world boss and champ bags were added. Colin said something like, “We absolutely want you to feel rewarded.”
For standing in one spot spamming 11111?
lol
Reward is subjective, in GW2 for me it’s the environment and gameplay, but I came into this game knowing it wasn’t focussed on loot and drops, I play other MMO’s for that…there’s several hundred to choose from. Not sure why others didn’t and if they did I don’t see the game being at fault.
Fallout 4 next month.
It won’t be that hard.
Not sure if your allowed to do such things here but I agree Dulfy gets mad props from me due to saving many a monitor from being smashed due to jumpy jumpy jump puzzles.
Anet should give Dulf a title.
DwaMM.
lol
Way to make another few hundred people check out the site OP.
Why not just ignore it?
People should be free to play anyway they feel within the realms of the UA. Who are you to tell players otherwise or dictate that because you personally don’t agree with such things it should be banned?I abhor this style of play, probably as much as many players dislike my style of half- kitten casual couldn’t care less attitude but what I hate more than anything else is players like you telling others how they should or shouldn’t play.
It’s hypocrisy at it’s finest.
If a demographic of players dig crunching numbers and kicking players based on things like gear and DPS output more power to them….go at it. They payed for the game and help keep Anet running hence they are entitled to the right we all have as a customer….play how you want You underestimate the number of players who don’t play that way and most of these types of players are polite enough to state so from the outset so it’s easy to avoid.
I also dig this kind of thing. I love seeing players take the game to such extremes and smash content as fast as they can. It’s awesome and even if I refuse to take part it’s fascinating to observe.
Your attitude will ruin the game faster than a site like that. Get over it, let them have their fun and chill out.
Seeing as they already dumbed it down due to the new WvW map I can’t see them then making it harder.
Like others said, a separate title or contained completion within HoT alone makes sense.
No more so than comments against veteran players.
Thats pretty hypocritical.
It consistently baffles me that people still complain about the lack of loot and drops when playing a game that from day one until now advertised, promoted and marketed itself as not being about loot and drops.

Now days I just roll a D/D venom spread condition focused build in general PvE for the heals, might and DPS I add to anyone else around but I pretty much rolled a D/D Death Blossom spam and caltrops build from release while I was leveling and it’s a good place for new players to start imo as your pretty much dealing with grouped trash mobs 24/7 and stealth DPS builds tend to be overkill and too single-target focused for that.
It’s really dependant on what weapon set and play style you enjoy more as in all honesty anything works in 99% of general open world PvE so you might as well experiment and just go with what you personally find fun to use.
Best of luck and feel free to hit me up in-game.

This has nothing to do with f2p. The only thing that hurts the community is the veteran elitism.
We have plenty of helpful veterans in this game. However, those few people who want that sense of superiority in a video game can potentially ruin it.
QFT.
You’ll get this type of behaviour in any MMO OP, especially when pugging and even more so in non-subscription or f2p games but reality is there are idiots in any MMO (other than CoH…man I miss that game and community). Letting it effect you just empowers such players.
As someone who has played this game since GW1 release you’ll quickly learn just to instantly forget it and move on.
The best thing I have found is to integrate the requirements of getting a legendary with general gameplay. A slight change in focus can eliminate much of the grind. For example by the time I thought about making one I found I was already 60%-70% there from just playing the game and doing whatever I enjoyed.
If you decide to purely focus on just the acquirement of a legendary at the expense of doing anything else it can seem daunting, and grindy as hell, but I feel it’s the wrong way to approach it as it’s easy to create symbiosis with enjoyable gameplay for the most part and at the end of the day it’s just a skin, you don’t have to rush it.
Best of luck to you.
:)
Ignorance does not equate to right of refund.
Just chalk it up as bad luck. Pretty sure you got your monies worth if you have 50 or more hours logged and hey…log in shinies.
It’s really quite simple, where will you be playing more?
By the sounds of it the expansion would be overkill while your playing catch-up for a month or two in which time you could get it cheap, especially hard-copies which tend to go on sale a month or two after release. Most gaming stores over-stock and flick MMO’s pretty cheap shortly after the buzz has worn off a month or so later.
Honestly…there’s not much left to “immerse” you in this game….how about the other way around.
What immerses you in GW2?
Playing solo, going offline mode and just exploring a fantastically created game-world……while avoiding hubs at all costs.
To be honest playing this game like an offline RPG works for me with a sprinkle of co-op when I run into random people. That’s the most fun I get now-a-days and it reminds me just how immersive this game can actually be if you avoid the rat-race and work-simulator aspects of this game…..at least until a zerg turns up.
consider also: what do you actually gain from forcing people to represent you if they wouldn’t really want to?
Conversation and interaction.
Whoever thought up the representation mechanic, especially it’s effect on guild chat, needs a slap. It’s one of the most destructive and anti-mmo mechanics I’ve ever encountered.
The lack of aesthetic variation in a game that apparently prides itself on it’s aesthetic variation.
Most hubs are just a 90’s rave party gone wrong. People running around waving glowsticks everywhere with way to many people wearing wings and that one dodgy dude just standing in the corner watching…with a pair of aviator sunglasses on.
I observed a naked 10 foot tall Norn male mesmer running around the other day which I can’t say I’ve seen too much in-game, nakedness withstanding.
I thought it was 80’s night at the pub for a second.
Welcome to Inventory Wars 2.
It does turn me off though and is one of, if not my biggest, complaint in this game. Sometimes I’ll log in for a quick play, remember I need to spend at least 30 minutes sorting out all the crap I have on every toon as they are all full to the brim with crap that needs to be clicked, salvaged or organised before I can even start having fun, only to just log off and avoid the mundane forklift driving simulator.
At times I’ll just destroy items, use up boosters, consumables, etc I know I could put to better use purely to avoid the hassle and make what precious space I can to only have it filled with more crap mere moments later. My alts have transitioned from characters I wanted to play when bored with my mains to now becoming over-burdened mules that have done nothing but stand beside the LA bank for the last two years taking on the garbage my mains collect at a rate that defies logic.
This issue needs addressing as it’s totally out of hand with the amount of never-ending crap the game throws at you and endless inventory management is certainly not my idea of fun. It’s just so far off-kilter compared to any other MMO I’ve played.
Is “right click/use all/salvage all” or bigger stacks on low-end items/mats to much to ask for?You mouse hating sadists Anet.
Oh…I forgot….you sell inventory space. Nevermind.
There are a plethora of guilds that play exactly how you’d like too OP, highly organised and structured, but they can be hard to find in-game as most don’t openly recruit there for obvious reasons. Forums and guild websites are way better. In short if you make an effort to find them, fill out a recruitment form and be proactive in your explanation of what your after you’ll find one in no time.
The more “serious” or structured guilds work as such for a reason, to find people like you and not endlessly have to deal with casuals or players that will waste their, and the guilds, time.
Looking for guilds in-game or in map chat isn’t the best way to find what your after. The majority have a zero tolerance when it comes to recruiting via such methods.
Just roll Venom Spread and SoM. The rest is preference.
Way to completely cheapen the title Anet. WvW completion was annoying as hell but it made it way more rewarding when you eventually got it.
To retroactively cheapen such effort is unforgivable imo. What a joke. kitten this game. Nek minute, legendaries for logging on.
Classes are symbiotic.
To just dream and theory craft fixes really doesn’t accomplish much unless your into wasting your time with “what if…” or “if only….” type hypothesis which really counts for squat and detracts from actual class mechanics and issues.
Without being more specific you’ll just get a bunch of dorks posting for lols.
Whatever floats your boat I guess but I’d say this is another thread from an OP that never replies while others use it for giggles.
In saying, more than happy to be proved wrong.
Instanced game play that frequently embraces and requires a small group of random players to group up and have fun together.
More aesthetic variation and differentiation amongst players so they can actually express individuality and creativeness with their character.
Free beer….for everyone.
Gear grind sneaking in even more….and Donald Trump.
A Trump-esque character would be hilarious though. He would call everyone a loser and his grand plan to keep the elder dragons out would be to build a giant wall.
Bahaha.Nice one bud.
Do it.
The thing I dig about this class is it’s the underdog or black sheep of the family. I knew that at release and nothing has changed. It’s a hard and brutal class to main and expect to be the bane of the community…..but I love that.
If that’s your buzz and you enjoy the play style and the challenge the class will bring roll one and enjoy.
If not play Warrior, Mesmer or Elementalist. Easymode.
