I’m quite sick of people wearing anything less than berserker.
If that becomes the only way to get a group, including the whole “stop being a Ranger” thing I get told very often . . . I’ll very quickly drop this game and go back to something more fun.
It’s okay you like to play that way, but there’s almost nothing for me to join in on now. If that turns into “actually nothing”, then I don’t see a point.
Oh get real. People exaggerate too much.
I never been kick just because I play a ranger. And as far as I can tell, almost all the post on GWLFG dont’ require you to be berserker.
Most of the time, I’m just happy I find a group.
I’m quite sick of people wearing anything less than berserker.
Truth is if everyone is wearing berserker, you can brute force the boss and kill it before it kill anyone.
If it is a hard fight, you’re going to be 1 shot anyway by boss’s big attack. So there’s no point wearing defense gear, you just have to learn to play.
I bought another account…
Not so much I care about the gold.
But just in case some friend whispered me for dungeon but I already did the dungeon for the day.
This whole argument is a result of the Cult of Min/Max. It has been the curse of RPG games all the way back to pen and paper.
I’m not sure which side you are on. The side that min/max their dps or the side that min/max their magic find.
I’m NA server. Play time around 2pm-11pm eastern.
I do have 8 level80 but my main is a warrior. Looking for people to do speedrun with.
Some times I have to wait maybe 30 minutes to an hour. But almost all the time I manage to get a group together.
At the time of my posting there are 2 people lfg within the last 6 minutes. If you are here. you have 3 only need 2 more.
Really curious if these zerker-elitists think that “speedrunning” CoF P1 in ..9 minutes, 10, is way more profitable than 15.
You’ll get 2 more runs in an hour. 1.5 gold? Eh, maybe worth it..maybe not. Depends who you ask. But I don’t think these elitists are racking in 5+ gold more than the regular group that finishes in 15. So to me, you guys are funny =)
This is obviously pre-todays patch.
It is really not worth it for dungeon. at least not cof. BUt for other dungeon where there are lots of trash to kill(eg some fractal) it might be worth it.
1.5 gold is much better compare to mf since you don’t get mf buff for chest.
The benefit for magic find is minimal “in most of the dungeon”. Since MF dont’ affect chest. So only dungeon with lots of trash you get benefit from MF.
So it is really not worth it for 5 people to wear full magic find gear in most of the dungeon.
But if only 1 person is using magic find, you won’t loss much efficiency.
Now the problem became why does one person deserve more compare to the other 4 people for doing the samething.

as usual this subject is highly speculative.
yes there are examples where the price went up by a great margin like halloween.
but there also plenty of examples where the price keeps stagnating or actually went down.
just look at the super adventure, jetpacks and monocle skins.
if you keep in mind that most the skins dont look that special and that anet keeps introducing new flavour of the month skins it becomes rather unlikely that aetherized weapons turn into a good investment.
at least in my opinionMonocle went from 20g to roughly 70g
So does SAB great sword and see the price now.
Point is after the event it stop going up and actually drop in price a bit. No one seemed to buying it and supply is keeping at a constant.
It is only worth investing if you meant to keep it for years. Or you dump it immediately when price is at it’s peak(usually right after the event end).
That being said, dont’ take my word for it. I don’t want to be responsible for any of your investment. I personally invested in 4 atherized skin, didn’t invest in more since it is kind of risky.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
Be prepared.
My warrior carried 18 different weapon and 2 different armor set. I have like 4 sets of axe with different sigils.
My guardian carred 4 different armor set(1 offence, 1 defense, 1 balance, 1 MF), and 10 different weapon.
I’m pretty sure your necro will have enough dps if you just use full berserker dagger/dagger with potion of undead slaying and a +10 dmg undead slaying sigil.
If you spend 6 hours on a boss, you might as well go outside and buy 2 dagger with appropriate sigil, retrait, and get consumable. Just make sure you are not the party leader.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
Thing is, can my GS put vulnerability on them? No.
You mean warrior? Actually GS auto attack do put vulnerability on them. Also many melee warrior use axe/mace so they can actually spam vulnerability. You also need to consider attack speed, weapon attacking faster might have more chance to cast vulnerability if you trait for it.
I actually think those cof warrior will be pretty good players because many of them play this game like a 2nd job.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
Would you guys like to see some sort of a bonus for those of us that do complete all dungeon paths?
Yes I like a repeatable quest for finishing all 25 explorable dungeon path for bonus reward.
But I don’t like your suggestion since people might just spam COF123 or COE123 everyday and ignore the other dungeon path.
For soloing map completion I like warrior the most, durable, 25% perm walk speed, rush and whirlwind provide aditional mobility.
Frenzy, endure pain, sweet revenge. You can face tank kill most thing without thinking.
I think in a group, what GW2 lacks is people working together. Since everyone takes care of their own(dodging, healing, dmg mitigation).
But when I try to solo some of the dungeon. You actually get the idea what action combat mean.
You need to watch enemies animation, watch use stamina, dodge, etc. Use of every weapon and skill to solve problem.
Quite honestly, “for soloing”, the combat is one of the best I ever have in any mmorpg, it is even better than most SRPG. They probably should rework a solo mode for all of the dungeon. Since the combat is actually amazing if you play the dungeon solo.

I’m pretty sure personal merchant express have always been personal only.
I think you are confused it with the one time use merchant which can be used for the whole group.
The simple fact of the matter is that if a dungeon path/boss can’t be done by a well balanced, skilled, coordinated group, then it’s broken. If you have to go get an NPC killed to make 50% of the listed strategies work, then it’s broken. Nightmare Tree in F/U is broken. The only way to beat it is with gimmicks and builds, or getting lucky and having him bug so when he spams his egg attack, no silvers spawn.
The salt in the wounds is Anet saying that not enough people are running all the paths of a dungeon. Maybe, oh, I dunno, if the paths and bosses were balanced more people would run them more than once for the achievment.
Yeah, but using reflection isn’t something that is exclusive to ubergroups. Pugs can use them too.
Actually I’m not sure if some class have reflect. All those uber groups somehow have guardian and mesmer.
Thief has Smokescreen, Mesmer has Feedback / Warden / Temporal Curtain, Guardian has Wall / Shield / Zealot’s Defense / Sanctuary, Ranger has Whirling Defense, and I’m sure that there are plenty of others that I can’t think of.
They are either not on par or they are not a popular weapon choice. You are expecting a PUG with ranger using an axe, or an elementist using a focus. They are called a PUG for a reason.
I was running fotm10 on dredge boss. And the 2 warrior in my group dont’ even carry a range weapon. Not that it is impossible to melee, but for those 2 warrior they should have carry a range weapon.

I actually think i get about 80 silver from cof, with ommon and glided. I presume you don’t have glided.
I already know about the TA farm. But it is much easier to find a group with cof.
I presume the only reason you make a video now is because the nerf is coming so no point hiding it any more because you worry about onyx price.
and I presume the orignial design of varied core and lodestone is to balance the reward in dungeon. Since the more people run, the less the price it will be. Unless I’m over thinking too much.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
I dotn’ know what is more profitable. But the comment is funny though:
Laureate Coin Booster (30%)
6x Rune of the Scavenger (15%)
Guild banner (10%)
Guild buff (5%)
You can use those in cof too.
At least people can shut up now. I keep telling people nerfing just cof don’t matter. You can speed run other dungeon similarly to cof. Only way to stop people from doing it is diminishing return. Which Anet is adding next patch.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
I really look at skipping as “jumping puzzle”. Which is a hard part to master than say killing some trash mob.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
I’m also having trouble with the gate keeper before Lupi.
I keep agroing the trash while trying to kill the gate keeper. And I dont’ seem to be able to kill any of the trash.
Do people try to kill the trash(if possible), or just try to kill the gate keeper best way possible without agroing the trash.
I’m interested. I’m from NA server. I really like to know the schedule.
I’m quite new to arah only ran it a few times. But I’m in the process of learning it and hope I can catch up soon.
I can’t even get pass phase 1. Do you guys anticipate the kick and dodge because you know he will kick because of rotation? Or see the animation he going to kick and dodge?
The new protal is a consumable and is probably very expensive. I doubt people will really use it depend on how expensive it is.
Because I actually want to play a game(called killing monster). What’s the point of me running dungeon when I can do nothing and turn 700 gold into 1200 gold. Which apparently just happened to me in this 2 week.
Tell me what’s the point of me spend 1000 hours killing monster in diablo3, when the reward is so crappy I make much more money in 10 hours flipping the auction house.
I actually want to go out and kill monster. But the reward is so bad, I might as well just sit in the auction house all day.
I don’t want to play auction house tycoon. But when it is much more rewarding to play the auction house, it make the other content pointless.
Uuuuh.
Do you enjoy playing the game? As in, the intrinsic rewards for playing games?
I do. Which is why I WvW and PvP a ton. I’ve spent hundreds of hours in it, because I don’t want to play auction house tycoon. Because I play the game to play it, not for the rewards I get for playing it.
Maybe because part of the game is efficiency. For PvE the joy is to kill monster as fast as possible to get more gold for more efficient(or in this game cosmetic) item.
That being said, dont’ get me wrong. I don’t have a big problem with flipping. I actually find the joy to play the trading post myself.
I’m just pointing out why people are complaining. And I do felt “the auction house tychoon phenomonom” with recent online game, downplay the other game play of those online rpg game.
And lastly, I do care about the reward. Stop being a hypocrite, many people do. If I can find the youtube video on test with monkey about reward… you’ll see it’s normal.

This is a great thread.
A few minor thoughts:
The TP is part of the world of Tyria and spending your time interacting with it is just as legitimate a play session as dungeons or jumping puzzles or any of our other fantastic content.I think it’s the part where people playing for thousands of hours making less money than people who sit infront of auction house is the problem.
We call that auction house tychoon in diablo 3. People who farmed for thousand of hours killing monster make less money than people who flip an item in a few second.
And the game changed from killing monster, jumping puzzle into a game of auction house tychoon, not everyone of us want to play.
How does the income rate of a TP flipper make playing the game less fun for you? If your idea of fun is making more money than other people, then I hate to break it to you but you aren’t going to win that race by driving a Vespa. Good news though, ArenaNet has provided you with a free Drag Racer.

How exactly do personal guild vaults work? More specifically, can you accidentally disband the guild and lose the vault contents? Or do you have to empty a vault first to disband the guild?
I never tried, but I think if you accidently clicked step down, you lost everything. So I dont’ put anything of important in my guildbank. Mostly trakittenem.
Anyhow, I think the best way is to keep a “mule” to represent your guild bank all the time. Instead of keep representing guild to guild, so you won’t accidently click leave guild.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
I disagree with this. I love the idea of sharing money across all my characters so that I no longer have to rely on putting money into the bank anymore.
I don’t really see why people need storage for gold. But I don’t see why anyone wouldn’t have a mule guild to store stuff anyways. I have 2 mule guilds for storage.
Human errors. If I could have a dollar for everytime I see someone complaining about typo and lossing huge money from TP on the “some other game” forum, I’d have a few hundred dollar.
I’ve made lot of error on TP before. I put offer of 30 silver instead of 30 copper, input item price and item amount in reverse. But everytime I was saved because “I didnt’ carry alot of money on me”.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
The people that are complaining about all characters having access to the gold with this patch….you realise the bank was there for that reason, so that all characters can share/pass between them gold, so with this latest implementation, there is now no longer a reason to have that.
I understand the concern that you want each character to have their own little bit of spending money, but I really don’t think it’s a reason to quit the game over. You will adjust to it and quite possibly come to prefer it. Also, new players that join GW2 after this patch won’t miss what they didn’t experience, to them it will be easier for all their characters to be able access gold.
That’s not the reason.
Having make human error in TP, and seeing how people makes many typos in TP in other games. People are in fear, they make human error and loss like 5000(make up number) gold just because of a typo.
To answer a few of the questions:
- Pristine Fractal Relics are not included. I am not a designer so I cannot accurately comment on why they are not included.
- At this point the wallet supports core currencies, not seasonal/festival/temporary currencies. At this time we have no plans to add those to the wallet.
- Jugs of Karma will remain an item and can be used as usual. The karma you gain from them will then be stored in the wallet and will be accountwide.
And the gold collecting achievement, is it still possible?
Yes, the “Golden” title can still be acquired, simply by having 200g, since depositing coins into the bank is no longer possible.
Can you address the developer it is a terrible idea? Everyone make mistake, I’ve put typo wrong on the TP all the time. The bank makes an extra protection for people not to make human error and loss all their gold.
And coming from another game, which don’t have the bank feature, I see post on people complaining they loss a huge chunk of their gold because they put an extra 0 on the auction house.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
wait, so we can’t put money in the bank any more? What if I’m stupid and make a typo on the TP etc etc?
I’m trying to learn the Lupi fight. And I think the easiest way to learn it is try to solo it.
Which path is the easiest to solo up to Lupi?
In that case you can also limit the number of items you can list per day, instead of limiting the maximum number of items you can list at a time. Make it so crafting material can have a max stack size of 250 to count as 1 listing and make everything else count as seperate listing even if you sell in bulk.
Either way it is annoying and can affect the normal player too. I been there and played another game that limit sell listing and have to buy another copy of the game just to sell things in the trading post.
Or maybe make it so items price can only rise and fall 7% maximum a day. Like the stock market…
I suppose all my suggestion are bad, that’s why no one use it.
(edited by laokoko.7403)
There will obviously be more people running COE. And with the promised more way to get lodestone from interview, there will be more supply.
The question is will there be more demand to dry up the supply. Since the developer also talked about releasing new ascended or legendary item. And they might use lodestone. And the precursor hunt might encourage people to go for legendary.
It’s a coin toss, hard to speculate. If it’s me I’ll wait for this update and hope charged lodestone price drop because more people is doing COE. But not wait too long in anticipate of new ascended and legendary gear.
Maybe they could limit sell listing. Some other game limit the number of listing you can put on the trading post.
Say for example you can only sell at most 20 item listed on the trading post. But it’ll also become really annoying if you are just a normal player and trying to sell more than 20 item.
They do limit sell listing already.
Care to elaborate? I’m not a power trader so I dont’ know. What’s the maximun number of listing you can put on the trading post?
ya, that path is quite buggy. There is also another bug where some of the trap stop working and can’t drag the ooze to power it.
I dont’ know. But I don’t think fractal is changed. Since fractal dont’ give gold anyway.
This topic was already beaten to death and put to rest once a group of 5 people made level 35 alts and cleared it with ease.
Funny thing is if they actually bother to check. A level35 alt have almost the same stats as a level80 character in AC.
And same traits. And the experience. And several utilitys to select. And all elites to select.
Ya I understand. The trait probably make the biggest different. Take a level80 warrior probably have sweet vengence, heightened focus, berserker’s might etc etc.
But everything else won’t make that much difference. If you are an experienced level35 alt you probably picked all the right skill.
All I’m saying is if people dont’ have problem running AC on their level80, they wont’ on their level35 too. So people dont’ need to make a video to prove their level35 character with 5000 achievement point can do AC easily.
On the other hand, I saw a few video on level35 claim they are noob. But they used all the right skill, ice bow, etc etc, and know how to dodge… I don’t believe they are newbie at all. At least I know when I’m level35, I’m quite terrible. I’m not sure how they are so pro at level35.

The thing with DR is they can always give us “more variety” of thing to do. Maybe the problem is there are so limited amount of activity that can make money.
I actually really like the idea of DR. If they give us many activity we can all make money from, we won’t be worry about DR on 1 activity.
Maybe they could limit sell listing. Some other game limit the number of listing you can put on the trading post.

If it really is a level35 dungeon, it won’t give level80 reward.
If you think about it, new people do have ac story to run.
I do think however, making AC easier might be a better game design. As it is the first dungeon for new player. But on the other hand, I think too many people are abusing AC to fast level.
Well it’s your fault for putting your eggs in one basket. Or in other words, creating alts for the sole purpose of running the same dungeon multiple times.
If you love your alts so much, just run them on different paths depending on the need.
Why run them on alt, when you can just run every dungeon on your main? I’ll never play my alt now. What else I’m going to use them for, I finish all the map completion and personal story.
I’m not complaining, I’m just saying my point of view. For me “personally”, I find no use for my alt now.
So the only reason you made your alts was to run specific dungeon path all day? That’s the main reason they are revamping the dungeon rewards so people don’t do that…
I can’t run them all day. I only have 11 level 80. Unless I have 60 level 80 I can run them all day. Not to mention dungeon have diminishing return of 30 token if you run too many of the same dungeon.
And doign cof on warrior/mesmer group is much better than doing those 10-15 minutes pug on my alt. I only play my alt for fun. Not to make more money. Those no rule pug get no where close to the warrior/mesmer group.
I’m not complaining. I think it’s the right thing. Else everyone will just use it to abuse dimishing return. I’m just saying I won’t be playing my alt much.
The truth is if only Anet make things “soulbound on acquire”. there might be some point on playing alt. Now there really isn’t.

Some dungeons are better suited for certain classes. Having the ability to choose gives you more options.
For example, in Twilight Arbor, it can help considerably if you have a guardian with staff. If no one is one in your party, switch to it and you can clear blossoms safer.
And people here seem to forget that the other rewards other than gold are the same.
If I read it correctly, tokens rewarded upon completion are separate so you can still farm the full 60 extra tokens on your alts.
oh come on. is those blossom really make that much difference. Even if it’s true, i’ll only play my warrior and guardian.
that being said focusing on gearing 1 char is much easier to gear a bunch of them.
I’m not upset with the change, I just felt I’ll rarely play alt this point on.

Are they actually adding new runes and sigil? I’m not sure where people get the idea/info they were adding it.
The problem is unless you play “only” 6 minutes a day. You are forced to run other dungeon path.
I kind of perdict arah will only give 3 gold at max. Since if you use the speed run matrix, people really can finish arah in 15-30 minutes depend on the path.
