Not So Secret. Always fail. Never succeed.

What is worse is many people who completed the dives ‘before’ they introduced that dive got their meta-achievement complete without ever having to do ‘Not So Secret’.

Anyone who started the game before the change and completed ‘one’ dive should have been given the same courtesy.

There is a mysterious new ‘step 1’ before the old ‘step 1’. I’m sure it will work now.

Edit: I mean, yes, I saw I get an email, that said there was a new statue. Figured I’d go look when I had the time. Probably about as important as the email I get from the creepy guy in the well.

Then I see the new Dulfy post, which my Feedly picks up! Woohoo! New guide, something new to do! In the original ‘Getting Started’, there wasn’t any sort of indication that this was related to that other email at all.

Never mind, it appears as though the guide has a new added ‘Step 1’.

Reminds me of ‘Fletch’.

Fletch: “You can’t? kitten, really?”

Are you trying to talk to her on your main and did you activate latest chapter in LS? Also only Miyani in LA counts.

1. At Miyani in LA.

2. This is the ‘only’ character that has completed the entire HoT story. Happy to provide screen shot of any relevant completed achievement for verification.

I completed the HoT story on my main.

I searched on ‘Cal’ in her bags and the bank, and don’t see the item.

Looking at the item on the wiki and seeing it is rare, I most likely salvaged it.

Miyani does not have the option that Dulfy says should be there to create the sword again.

I am not going to run that story step again.

How do I get a GM to make me one, or support to send me one in the mail?

Thank you.

Yes I am. My main.

The answer better not be that I have to replay that last step again, because I was ‘not’ planning on doing that, like, ever again.

Edit: Looking it up in the wiki, seeing it’s rare, I would have salvaged it for sure if I was able to.

I’m 500 across the board (no Scribe, not even sure how to do that really? maybe have to be in a big guild with a special guild hall?). Did it all before HoT came out. Not sure how many characters that’s spread across off hand. I had two per character, and I have one of each character class. A few of the characters at the end didn’t need to learn anything. Crafted one set of Ascended and use Bifrost for my main (Elementalist). Run around with a healing exotic offset with a healing Ascended staff I crafted. Haven’t made any ascended for any of my other characters.

I don’t remember off hand what it was I crafted at the end to get it up, but I seem to recall it wasn’t ‘terribly’ difficult? I’m really not much of one to buy crafting materials off the TP, so I must have gathered most of it myself?

It’s been so long, plus the long 15 month break I took up until about 2.5 months ago, I don’t recall.

I did see someone mention in another post that it would make more sense to make the ‘coin’ (or whatever it is) something a crafter could put on the TP, and then have them put a high ‘minimum price’ on them. Crafters would be happy to have something useful to sell, people that don’t like crafting would be happy they didn’t have to craft.

Not much of a spoiler, I guess?

Came across this cat in the story, and of course, I don’t have the food.

Is there any way to get the food on my character without having to leave the instance and do that first fight again and then clear around to that room?

I suppose I know it can be done without doing the final fight, so that’s at least good, but I had some troubles early on during the break-in phase as well. Was not looking forward to doing this again any time soon, but ‘love’ home instance cats.

Can someone send it to me? I don’t see any of the three foods on the BLTP, which makes me think that maybe they are soul bound?

Your opinion on GW2 after HoT (2017)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: notebene.3190

notebene.3190

I’m really enjoying it. I stopped shortly after HoT came out. I complained it was too hard. I was frustrated. The truth is, I had one foot in another MMO at the time, and was basically just doing some dailies here and some world bosses with some alts when HoT came around. I had a full set of Ascended on my main, as well as a legendary Bifrost. Since I was already spending more time in the other game, I posted all my ‘this is too hard’ posts, and left, for about 15 months.

Coming back in the second week of December, I jumped into HoT and the story and was found it to be a blast, and couldn’t really figure out what I was complaining about. Now, I don’t know if it has been reduced in difficulty since it originally hit or not, but getting into all the map metas and learning how the maps worked and working on map achievements for points and leveling all the masteries up…it’s been a great time the past few months!

And then when I finished HoT and jumped into LW3:1-3, I was even more excited to see how it was progressing beyond that, and liked how they brought hearts back and turned them into repeatable options. LW3.4 is especially great for me, as I had commented a long time ago how it always seemed like end game zones took you to these goth, depressing landscapes, and how it would be nice to have a high end zone ‘that was like Queensdale, with centaurs and bandits and saving towns and such’.

Well…there I go!

So yeah, really enjoying the game again.

Leather Farm

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: notebene.3190

notebene.3190

Personally, i don’t see why they added this. Simpler solution is just playing with the crafting tables again. All leather used to be 2 to make 1. Thick is now what 4 to make 1 and hardened 3 to make 1? They can just reset those #’s for a time, much like they did with soft wood. That used to be 2 logs per plank, then to 4, then to 3, then back to 2. In another 6 months or so watch it go back up to 3 or 4 logs per plank. They can do the same with leather. Would avoid the “need” to really farm it or spend hours to farm for minimal gain.

Might also provide a little extra income for them. If they changed to this method, where they changed the requirement from time to time to help nudge the market, it might encourage people to craft when it’s smaller and stock up, which means they might be inclined to pick up some more storage space to weather the storms.

Is this game for solo players?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: notebene.3190

notebene.3190

Hi.
I’m just wondering how much content this game has for a solo players?
Is there anything at the end game for solo players?
If I don’t have a regular party/group/guild/friends to play with, am I missing a lot?
Basically is it worth playing if I’m playing mainly solo?

To me, this is the beauty of the game.

I don’t have friends that play, not much one for guilds (there’s always some extra baggage that comes with that). I like people just fine, but need to be able to turn it on and off, depending on my energy level.

The way tagging works in this game, other than fractals and dungeons, you don’t really need to be ‘in’ a group to do anything, except Triple Trouble. When you need people around for things, they generally are anyways. And when you don’t, then you don’t. And because there isn’t really ‘mob stealing’ in the game, if someone happens by and kills some of the things you are killing with you, it’s not a big deal, unless the kill it before you can touch it, that’s a bummer, but that is super rare.

It’s a pretty friendly game, and jumping in and out of squads as you see fit is not a big deal. About the only time you really need to be super organized is maybe if you get deeper into fractals, and of course, learning Triple Trouble, but that’s a matter of showing up and listening and following directions and being open to learning new things about your class.

I’m largely a solo player, but I play ‘more’ with people just ‘organically’ in this game than I’ve ever played with people in other games, simply because of the way it’s designed (and having a nice community helps).

You can’t kill it, you have to let it blow itself up.

I can’t believe this is the last thing I have to do to finish Triple Trouble. The problem is the you part. It’s sadly not just me, there are lots of other folks there, and it’s worse on bad maps because on bad maps, everyone that does Amber seems to want to go on the escort together, completely super-sizing the escort mobs, and then they dog pile on the abomination, with all the cc and knock backs they can muster.

We shouldn’t have to be looking for our own personal map to get this thing done at odd hours of the night. It would be nice if they fixed it.

Or, let us submit a screenshot of the toolbox (like a zerg, but with … tools) dog piling on the abomination, to show we at least tried, and then just give us a ‘coin of completion’ we can click on to complete the step.

Just to be sure, you do know about taxi right? About right clicking on the commander and picking “join in xxx map”. Not being sarcastic

Else as stated, its more often a lack of commanders then people (often the commander dont even need to do anything, just be a tag). I blame it on “/how many others are in this map” mentality, 99% of people will asume that a map is emty if there are no tags, even if its a 95% full map

I didn’t know that either.

I’ve seen these a few times, in full pelt. They seemed fun but I didn’t know how to join or who to ask.

I suppose if you play 24/7 over the weekend you could do it, but remember, your character level and effectiveness is shifted to fit the level of the zone, and even the area within the zone you are playing in. Just so happens I just now got it finally! That let me up the last 2 points I needed to finish ‘Legendary Crafting’, so now I have that and ‘Pact Commander’ done!

I was doing just that, Slippy. Once or twice a day, I’d look for an Event raid and hop in. Those seemed to also keep the defense high.

Interesting enough…

1) The map I was on wasn’t a big SW event map. I think someone was trying to get it organized, but it was maybe 30% in, and defenses were all at level 1. I started to pitch in and try to get defense to level 2.

2) Very shortly after we hit 2, the thing almost literally spawned inside Indigo, or maybe slight outside to the north and it ran in. The whole fight took place inside the fort during a defend.

Very excited. Been putting a lot of work in recently reading up and learning how to do things I’ve never done before to help secure that final 9 points. Finished Tequatl a few days ago, and have managed 1 of the 3 heads + victory on Triple Trouble.

Thanks again!

Personally, I think the active skills should remain what they are, override if better, but we all should just get a passive 3.125 speed boost every 10 levels until we’re 80 and all just 25% faster, so I can swap my runes out.

I don’t need to be faster than everyone else all the time, it just ‘feels’ right at this point, and it’s terrible without it.

in Players Helping Players

Oh I see. It just depends on what kind of build you are going for, as far as priorities go? Eventually, ‘everything’ will be maxed out, assuming you do 100% map completion on a character, or some other combination of things to get you that many hero points. I suppose it’s possible to hit all the hero points in AB and then ‘not’ need 100% Tyria completion, or some such.

As far as what to do first, it just depends on your class and the build you are trying to achieve, really? I think with my Staff Elementalist, who is my main, I favored Signet Training over some of the other ones, though in WvW, I don’t think I use any Signets. But back when I was leveling her up, the method of progression was ‘really’ different back then. I also like the healing glyph and the elemental glyph in general PvE. It just depends on what you feel like doing.

There is not ‘wrong’ choice, you will eventually get to pick anything you want.

What's changed in 2 1/2 years?

in Players Helping Players

You want to use that in conjunction with the build tab, which is one tab above it. At different levels, you can gain access to being able to select 1-3 of the Specializations to have active at one time. You can change specializations at any time.

They are all passive, but are meant to compliment weapon choices, armor type choices, etc. As an example, I’m working on a Revenant for the first time, and wanted to mostly be a staff support healer type, so to compliment my choice of weapon and armor with lots of healing power, one of my specialization lines is Salvation, which has some abilities ‘specific’ to being triggered using a staff.

On that tab, you’ll select 1-3 specializations to activate (depending on your level), then you can active one of each of the 3 square specializations between each of the ‘given’ hexagon specs in that line, and it draws out a neat connecting line to help you see the path you selected.

It’s been awhile since I changed any of my characters, but I’m pretty sure there is no cost to changing them. I think there was once upon a time?

I stopped playing shortly after HoT came out, and complained a little bit about it, and found it kinda difficult at the time.

I don’t know if it has changed a lot in that time or I have, but I picked it up again about a month ago (after being away about 15 months) and I’ve been having a really good time, for what it’s worth!

I’ve played through the story, did all the maps (still have a few things to get in the last map), and participated a half dozen times in each map’s meta (except AB, I do that one once a day now, I really enjoy being a North-Gater and using the armor!) I need to spend some more in Tangled to learn what I’m supposed to be doing with that meta so I can be a better team player, as well as the last map. The times I’ve done it, I’ve just kinda followed people around.

I’ve played through the 3 Living Story S3 steps areas and mapped it all out. Those were really good. They each come with a little half-map and these neat ‘infinite hearts’, which is a great mechanic. I still want to go back and spend some time there picking out some things to save up for to buy.

I still spend a lot of time in the old world, knocking out some WBs each day with various characters. It helps build up Tyria mastery. I’m also slowly picking away at achievements to pick up some more mastery points.

I’ve gotten quite a bit of the HoT and Tyria mastery done as well.

Also working on bring up a new Revenant (sp?), she’s getting close to 60. I have an insta-80 booster, but I wanted to level her up the old fashion way. It’s been a lot of fun. I think I might use that 80 booster on a character of a class I already have, possibly to focus on one of the advanced classes. Maybe a second Elementalist, my main, as I’ve always been quite fond of my staff build with her. Working on hitting some hero points in HoT for my Ranger so I can explore that elite class.

It’s been a really good time so far. Little sad I waited so long to start playing again.

On the character select screen, it would be nice to make it so when your mouse is over the carousel of characters on the bottom, to make it so the mouse wheel scrolls the carousel left and right. And not like ‘one character at a time’, like how the left and right arrows work, but an entire page for each ‘click’ (or short movement, if your mouse doesn’t have ‘clicks’) of the wheel.

Today one of the things I can do is a Jumping Puzzle in Southsun Cove called ‘Under New Management’. I seem to recall there were two there, one was easy by where you ported in, and the other was that ‘timey-jumpy’ one.

How do I know which is which? I don’t recall jumping puzzles having names (3 weeks into not having played for 15 months before that)?

Every single jumping puzzle has a name, ever since the game was released (and even before that iirc). They’re in the hero panel, found under General > Jumping Puzzles.

If you don’t know the names of the puzzles, you can always “/wiki Under New Management” while in-game to open the wiki page on it. Or google it. Both are legitimate tactics to quickly and easily find what JP it is.

What is a good HoT Mastery to get next?
