farming mats for ascended

Well i don’t really know what you guys are talking about but i thought i might see if my stats can help out i am a fresh level 80 new player i have 20 gold, around 27000 karma, my tailoring is at 37 and artificing also 37 before i ran out of low end mats. I do not seem to get them anymore from salvaging even using the basic kits. This is after 9 or 10 days of playing.

Part of the problem is that at higher levels, gear drops more often to your current level, thus when you salvage, you get the mats for that level of gear. However, as I posted earlier, as a level 80, you can still get those lower level mats by getting loot bags (not champ bags). In some areas you can get them with a high rate of frequency. Use the wiki and look for a specific mat you are needing. Most of the bags have drop rates on the wiki as well, so you can get a better idea of where the best places to go are.

If you are going condi try this. It has high toughness, and high condi damage. The added toughness from Corrupter’s Fervor increases your condi damage with undead runes as well as Krait Tuning Crystals.

Also I would consider using epidemic as well to take care of any annoying adds. I am not sure about the raids, but I was able to hit 12k/tick burn, 8k/tick bleed, as well as 2-3k poison in DS. Epidemic is awesome!

i don’t think those option are sustainable. you can’t earn karma fast enough to sustain the need of those materials. also you can’t farm champ boxes fast enough.
the huge decline of those mats in the tp proves that.
yes, there’s always gonna be some of those mats around. the problem is that if they get too expensive crafting an ascended armor might not be possible for most people in an acceptable time.
personally i have to trouble getting another set but what about all the people several months from now that want to advance in fractals but are looking at several months of farming gold?

What low-level mats are you taking about specifically?

I was able to farm for most of the mats I needed for a full set of heavy ascended armor. It took about 3 months total doing nothing but farming. Do some research on the wiki for the specific mat you are looking for. Most of the time they drop from various bags (not champ bags).
For example: Supply bags in Harathi Hinter Lands drop wool, linen, and leather, as well as other low level maps. These are super easy to get a bunch of them. Just do the meta event.

Miners bags from dredge in Timber Line Fall give a good amount of linen.

Char in FireHeart Rise for silk.

And more.

It can be done. But you have to find the right places to go, with the right mobs to kill.

As much as i dislike the idea of everyone running the meta builds…using it as a place to start might not be a bad idea. Once you understand your role as an engineer and how to generally play, you can tweak the meta build to suit your personal play style. I think jumping into one of the most complex classes in the game with a build that is personalized for someone else that they have taken the time to master might be difficult. If you really dont want to metabattle, look at youtube videos and just filter it to be within the recent month and you’ll see plenty of builds, and game play. You should be able to find one that looks good to you and wont be meta. gl to you.

That actually makes sense. I might just go with that.

As far as meta builds are concerned. I personally feel that meta builds are designed for high-level team play. As a “filthy casual” (aka running with a small group of friends, and maybe some pugs.) I don’t see them as something that is more viable than anything other build. Which is why I don’t much care for meta builds in general.

Concerning the raid AFK/LFG groups. While I agree that they do not cause the meta events to scale, but they do increase the map population which means that fewer people are left to do the meta. After accounting for raid AFK/LFG, flax farmers, explorers, people just getting HP’s etc. it is likely that there may not be enough people to successfully complete the meta (but it depends on the map).

A simple solution to this would be to create an instanced raid waiting area. Instead of going through the portal straight into the raid, you go into a portal that takes you to a waiting area, like fractals.
(Although this already could be the case, I haven’t done a raid yet so I am not sure exactly how it starts). This would solve the extra people AFK/LFG in the map, and make more room for those wanting to do the meta.

Yes, but that’s not the point of the OP. Everybody agree on your point. Raid is new and demand 10 man which can be longer to fill up with pug. A lobby for raid is needed, especially since VB have a big meta event.

But OP was talking about Flax Farming, not raid afker. And to be honest, even Raid afkers will rarely make the meta even fail.

True, but the OP edited his post as it was determined that Flax Farmers aren’t really an issue, but rather AFKers, raids, and other wandering the map. I don’t think that there can be anything done with those not doing meta events, but raids taking up space can be dealt with.

I agree, unless you had many raid parties all looking for people, but even then the meta can still be done.

No for open world PvP/PK. That sort of thing should be kept in the mists where it belongs. However, I would be for turning OS into a PvP/PK map. Everyone in OS is an enemy. That could be fun. But please keep duels/PK out of the open world. Lore wise it doesn’t make much sense. It would ruin the story, and break immersion in a terrible way. As well as be hyper annoying. Imagine trying to do a JP then some kitten comes along and knocks you off the ledge on the jump before the chest. It would just open the doors for massive trolling and griefing. No thanks.

Thats why we could CHOOSE we kinda of server/world we play – Open PK or NOT-PK. I understand there are differente kind of players, and we must respect it.

The biggest problem I see with it is, is not the trolling/griefing that will happen. But how to you fit the concept of open world pvp/pk fit the story and narrative of PvE? It’s all built on cooperation. As you follow the story in each map, you see that all the events, the hearts, etc. lead up to the formation of the Pact. Which is not only about the Orders working together, but bridging the gap between races as well. Then in HoT, you see the Pact bringing in the Skritt, Quaggen, even the Nightmare Court, as it’s all the races working together to fight a common threat. Open world PvP/PK doesn’t fit. How does the theme of unity work when you have everyone fighting against each other? Especially if the PC is a Pact commander?

While I agree it could be fun, to an extent, the whole concept doesn’t fit into the theme of PvE. Again it could work well in the Mists. We already have The Mist War, or Battle for the Mists there (i.e. WvW and PvP) so it would make sense to have such a thing there. It fits the theme of those places.

I want to avoid the metabattle builds, at least until I get more familiar with the class.
Does anyone have any ideas for me?
I tried running turrets, and nades, but they seemed really weak to me. I am not sure if I was using the right traits or not. I was going for a more condi type build with the nades, but wasn’t sure if that was ideal or not.

Any advice you have would be great. Thanks!

LFG system abuse

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

pdavis.8031

I’ve noticed that the “Looking For Group” system is being abused on a grand scale.

Many people use it for a completely different purpose than to find a group of others to form a party with in order to pursue a common goal in the game.

People use it to find map instances. I know, it’s disgusting behavior! What drives these people? Have they no shame? I’d report them all if it wasn’t so widespread; I’d be reporting people all day, I don’t have the time for that.

I talked to a few of them, and they told me they do it because the game doesn’t have a good map selection system. Well, of course, exploiters always have an excuse ready. It’s intolerable. Something needs to be done about this.

So lets follow this a bit and see what happens.

Taxiing people for large worlds events/bosses becomes “illegal”. Players must rely on RNG to get into a map with enough people to complete said event/boss. Without having a sure way to get into a map where it has a greater chance of being completed, players then start abandoning those events. Thus further decreasing the chance of those events ever being completed.

Yeah that’s not going to work. Taxiing in people into a specific map specifically to do the event/boss is forming a party with the intent of completing group content. Just because the person doesn’t stay within the party, doesn’t mean that it is abusing the LFG function.

Without the taxis, it is likely that most events/bosses will fail a majority of the time.
So what would you rather have? a way to get into a map in order to do an event/boss with a greater chance to succeed, or rely on RNG to get into a such a map, with event/boss failure likely to happen because you couldn’t get into a “good” map?

It is a potential issue.

People can say it’s not, as much as they like, but the truth is that if something like this is available, most people will require people to use it (especially for PUGs, or whatever) and it’s a slippery slope.

It’s the same with DPS meters.

If they are available, even if only to the player, people will require people to post their DPS.

Sometimes that might be a good thing, with certain unfairly maligned classes, but more often than not, it will not be.

I’ve been through all this in WoW.

Allowing inspection, measuring and third party stuff never seems to end well and turns the game into paint by numbers.

This is a potential issue in the same way that the LFG requirements are an issue. It’s not.

Give raids a little bit more time. Once every trick, pattern, etc. has been thoroughly dissected and examined, raids will be able to be run with nearly anyone. Just like dungeons, world bosses, etc.

As far as things like this being a requirement. There is nothing wrong with wanting to play with people of a certain mindset, or have certain builds. That is their choice. There is no one compelling anyone to use this, if they are, they probably are not type of people you should be running with anyway. Such people tend to be petty and cranky when something happens that they don’t like.

No balance patch till spring 2016?

Please don’t derail the thread with silly conspiracy theories.

Hardly silly conspiracy theories. Their balance process involves sykping with abjured (and a few other) players and getting feedback. So these players get to shape balance towards their needs and desires. They also get 1 month + advanced warning of what is coming balance wise. So they are ready for every new meta when other players and teams are not. And then anet run supposedly fair tournaments and give away real money. This is how the system works and it is a complete joke. I have told friends from other competitive games about this process and they are shocked.

Imagine mesmer is good and you dont have a mesmer main? Well they get it nerfed via skype. Imagine you know mesmer is going to be good 1 month before everyone else. Now you have 1 month extra to get good at it. Things similar to this have happened.

Sources? If not, then it is a conspiracy theory and nothing more.

This has been discussed almost as much as the “mounts” topic. And each one falls into oblivion. Although personally, I think it would be a neat feature, I don’t see it coming into the game any time soon. As many people as are whining about how toxic this community is, and how there are so many horrible people, just adding a faster and easier way to communicate would be a CS nightmare.

At least with third party you can invite only those you want in, and at least have some control. An in-game VOIP limits that control. So you’ll be stuck with that one guy who decides to play “Never Gonna Give You up” into his headset at max volume all day. And no one wants that.

Premades vs soloers.

in PvP

Posted by: pdavis.8031

pdavis.8031

I never really understood the whole premade vs solo argument. I’m certainly not the greatest player ever. But I’ve done solo queues and won some and lost some. Some of the time it was vs a team, other times, another group of random pugs. I’ve also done team games. Again, sometimes we win, sometimes we don’t. Again, facing either pug groups or teams.

So it seems that soloers (i.e. pug groups) are upset because they face a team and get ROFL stomped. So it’s the fault of the match making system? It’s not lack of communication, which also includes listening and acting? It’s not due to people seeing a team and basically giving up because they assume they are going to lose? It’s not due that maybe you as the player are not as good as you think you are?

Why does it HAVE to be the fault of the system? Where many people are using the exact same system, and have little to no issues with it. (or if they do they aren’t coming here to talk about it). Even some people in this very thread don’t agree that the solo vs pre-made is an issue. To me at least it seems that people are trying to blame something else for their own shortcomings.

But I agree that the current LFG interface could use a bit of tweaking. At the very least have some filter options.

That’s the transfer interval.

F2P account which upgraded to paid account are supposedly to have a free transfer, which means, having to pay 0 gems. However, some F2P players who upgraded to paid accounts have told me that the gem cost is not 0. So, what is the procedures for free transfer?

“The transfer fee is waived for accounts without any active characters. This allows players just starting out to change to another world that is not full. You also can transfer without cost if you delete all your existing characters.”

From the wiki: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World

Thus, if you delete all your characters you can transfer for free. Those F2P players who later bought the game likely had characters, and thus had to pay gems.

You can, it’s not native, but you can make it work with third-party applications. I had it set up for my wife for a little bit and checked it out. I personally didn’t much care for it. However, with the action camera it might be more feasible than it was.

I followed this thread: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/Xbox-360-controller-and-Guild-Wars-2-merged/first
People were using an xbox controller, which is what I used. But I am sure there are some other xpadder like programs that you could use that essentially to do same thing. You’d have to find one that works with your particular gamepad.

Farming as Necro

in Necromancer

Posted by: pdavis.8031

pdavis.8031

If you are going JUST for farming (i.e. tagging lots of mobs for kill credit) I would suggest going condition. It’s a bit slower to play, and not so much “in your face” but you can tag tons of mobs.

I run something like this:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNArYRjk0QLN2dD20A7NWSGMpLQG4nFPD3hBxoc21KAA-TRSAABUcIAi+EAImyPAeAAMt/Qoq/0xRAgQ9BtpEUUQsF-e

Epidemic is almost a must on the Dragons Stand map. So many enemies always so close together. If you see a champ/legendary just getting drowned in conditions, just pop epidemic and watch every one around them just getting 5-6k burning, 5k bleed, and 3k poison. (Yes that’s per tick. I was able to get 12k burning from epidemic once, it was basically awesome.)

But this of course is my preference, and found it works amazingly well for farming. It allows you to be rather tanky, yet still remain somewhat effective, as well as the ability to easily tag literally dozens of mobs in a very short amount of time.

Firefly mining flute vs watchwork pick

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: pdavis.8031

pdavis.8031

Lots of people in this thread who didn’t do their reseach. There’s test data out there that shows the watchwork pick offers little to no monetary gain because it sacrifices ore pieces in order to harvest sprockets from the node…

Its only good on Mithril, Silver, and Gold Ore.

Sounds interesting. Source?

Its easy enough to test yourself with several characters, a list of rich iron nodes, and a watchwork and normal orichalcum pick. Tests showed that whenever the pick would get a sprocket from the node, the bonus ore was lost.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1wfp5r/watchwork_pick_looking_for_data/

I quote from the thread:
Just tracked 120 swings of the watchwork pick on plat ore nodes.
Platinum Ore: 69
Platinum Ore + Watchwork Sprocket: 37
Platinum Ore + Jewel Shard: 8
Platinum Ore + Watchwork Sprocket + Jewel Shard: 6
Platinum Ore + Platinum Ore: 0

Just tracked 120 swings of the Orichalcum Mining Pick on plat ore nodes.
Platinum Ore: 112
Platinum Ore + Jewel Shard: 8
Platinum Ore + Platinum Ore: 0

Even for such a small test sample… 69 vs 112 speaks for itself. So this pick offers very little profit on valuable nodes like iron (currently 2.7s/ore on TP).

So it trades the bonus ore for a sprocket. That not trading ore for sprockets. That’s trading the chance for an extra piece of ore for a chance at a sprocket. You still get the standard 3 pieces regardless.

As much as I love my watchwork pick, it certainly hasn’t made me rich over night, as some like to imply. At most I’ll get an extra sprocket per node. Sometimes not even that. Even if it was a mistake, I agree with Anet in not removing that bit from it. However, perhaps if they introduced a infinite gathering tool add on in the gem store that allowed an existing infinite gathering tool the same chance to add another material, that might placate people.

Have a molten pick? for 200 gems you can get a pick addon that allows you a chance at additional [insert special type of crafting mat here]. Or even perhaps an Axe addon that does the same thing. However, it shouldn’t be a type of mat that can already be harvest normally (i.e. jewels, ore, etc.)

Happened to me earlier too, was probably on the same map but it’s not a bug. All maps have this mechanic. DS map was low in population so the pop-up asked us to change maps. People ignored this and minimized the pop up. 50 mins later, the pop up warned us the map would be closed out in 10 mins. Then again in 5, at 0 it removed everyone during the final boss fight.

Even though this isn’t a bug, I have a suggestion. The map should be “pinged” at specific time intervals to see if the map is full. Our DS map was full, as soon as that happen the change to another map option should have went away. Instead, it stayed and no one could dismiss it without changing maps. I hope Anet, listens or at least comments on this suggestion. It will help all the Heart of Thorns maps which are initially underpopulated but then fill up quickly. The game should not force players to move to another map, when their current map is full

Yeah thinking about it, having that pop up come early in the map asking to volunteer or remain, and then kicking us out makes sense. However, if it still remained even after the map was full, and still engaged transferring us to a new map shard then wouldn’t that be a bug?

I seem to remember being in other maps when that pop up happened, but elected to stay, and the map population rose during the “countdown” and it went away. But I could be wrong.

  • Request/Suggestion for an Option to Park Characters in our Guild Halls*

We can do it at the Royal Terrace, and to my knowledge the Airship as well. In Guild Wars 1 also. With Guild Halls in game now, this would be a Godsend for a few reasons I could think of below.

• Faster load times compared to most major cities and especially the newer maps (ehem LA).
• Hit guild gathering nodes before taking off to the land of Tyria.
• Checking in with folks prepping events while doing your own prep work.
• Inst-Repair, bank access, guild bank access.
• Proc/See/Check on guild hall progression and seeing what is still needed instead of hounding that one guy who happens to be in the Hall when you ask. Adds a bit of added emphasis on the Hall itself.
• Guild Portal. Sure it has limited uses, but if you’re trying to hurry up and get to a mission etc it’s there, it’s helpful, and hell….we earned it already might as well use it.

I could go on and on, and I’m sure others have their own reasons. I get that people enjoy the ability to hop into guild hall, do what’s needed to be done & then exit and go back to the last place they were in the open world. That discussion is the purpose of these forums. Who knows maybe even have it as an option to “Stay in Guild Hall upon relog/character select” or simply uncheck the box and don’t do that.

Regardless, I know I’d love it to death as well as many friends and guild members I’ve talked about it with. All input appreciated.

Although it would be cool, the Guild Hall is essentially an instance. And for whatever reason, the game doesn’t allow logging into an instance. It would be the same as parking a character in a dungeon, as dungeons are instances. There are a multitude of reasons to allow logging into a dungeon directly would be a terrible idea.

Also the Royal Terrace and Airship are part of the map itself designated as a landmark, instead of an instance. Which is why they can allow logging directly to those places.

It could be something they did purposely in order to prevent abuse, or simply a side effect of the very nature of instances that prevent from logging into directly.

Here’s a thought.
But perhaps since the new borderlands require HoT, a majority of HoT players are still in PvE, exploring, leveling masteries, etc.

Actually…. you don’t need HoT to play on the new borderlands maps.

They are horrible for WvW are the reason why they are empty and EBG is always full.

Really? I was under the impression that HoT was needed for the new maps…oh well…

But either way, I am sure there is a more reasonable explanation for the lack of people in the new maps, other then they are THAT terrible. But thats just me…

Oh I’m sooooooooooooooo sorry mr white knight sir…..
I couldn’t remember we got content every 3 weeks for the first 6 months then we were promised content every two weeks after a that. Probably because the game still had plenty to do six months after release…

it was three years ago…

…and Anet still delivered on its promises back then.

In reference to content packets:
“No need to buy them, Gw2 will feature consistent free content updates and in-game events going forward. Our goal is to make it so you get more from Gw2 for free than you get from a game you pay a subscription for.” – Colin Johanson

Also…. people asked for MORE content when they asked for an expansion.

People never asked for living world to stop, so that anet could save up all those releases, and SELL them to us all at once.

Fans of the franchise who were familiar with the game’s content doubling or even tripling with the release of every expansion in the original Guild Wars title don’t consider GW2:HoT an expansion. Hell… many people who never even played Gw1, but played gw2 from launch feel the same way.

HoT was not a true expansion…. and you can’t deny that.

It was a marketing tactic to get more money from fans by making them pay for content they were already promised for free.

Story time.

You go to an amusement park on a hot day and you decide to buy a small refillable cup, which lets you get free refills every two hours, you are able to refill the cup free of charge with your favorite soft drink…

but it just doesn’t seem to cut it…
and you are not getting enough to drink to keep yourself hydrated.

You are still thirsty.

You would really like it if you could get enough soda at once to keep you going until you were able to get a refill again.

You express your concern to a gentleman at the concession stand, he offers to “upgrade” your old refillable cup and he trades it for a different cup which he says is what you want since its much bigger. It is going to cost the same amount of money for the upgrade as it cost you to buy your original cup, but you assume its worth it and you happily pay the man.

That is when you get the new cup.
…and the cup itself is only 25% larger than the cup you had before.
You don’t get any refills… and must completely rebuy the large cup from now on.
You also have to wait 4 hours before you are able to purchase a new cup.

You immediately realize that you are going to be getting less of your favorite beverage less often…. so you say that you would rather have your old cup back.

The man at the concession stand instead of honoring your request, laughs and says…. “…but isn’t this is what you asked for?”

In your mind what is a “true expansion”?

While I am not saying the new maps are perfect, but before jumping off the bridge because “WvW is officially dead”, maybe consider that WvW in general is in a slump because of the excitement over HoT. I know I’ve barely ventured into WvW, and then just to peek at the new maps. I haven’t done any PvP either (and was doing that nearly exclusively for awhile).

But then of course that would be reasonable…nevermind….

I must have missed the paywall. I didn’t realize I was forced to use real money in order to gain ANYTHING in game that I wanted. The legendary I made, as well as multiple sets of ascended, fully geared out 6 characters, completed various collections, etc.

Oh that’s right because it never happened!!!

It was designed that way to encourage you to buy the game (which is HoT and the Core game. The free version is a glorified demo). Also part of the design is to promote the games longevity and re-playability. The masteries, legendary “journey”, backpacks, etc. Make sure that A) You can’t just do it all in a couple of weeks, then complain that the game doesn’t have anything to offer, B ) It encourages you to do a variety of different things instead of just farm gold by doing the same things over and over and just buy what you want from the TP, and C) it encourages people to buy the game and not just forever play the “demo”.

Plus I would recommend revisiting “paywall”…it might help you out.

Are you in a guild? Simple question. Yes or no answer will suffice.

Yes I am in a guild.

Then you are already past the pay wall.

What does being in a guild or not have anything to do with a pay wall?

They removed guild features from the core game, repackaged them, and put them in HoTs exclusively.

Are you sure about that?

I haven’t seen anywhere that says any guild features have been removed from free accounts, and only available exclusively in HoT.

It’s nothing to do with ‘free accounts’, the paywall applies to players who bought the base game.

They removed the old perk system allowed guilds to earn them via Influence and made the Scribe craft do the same thing, which they put behind the gate of Guild Halls which is behind the paywall called HoT.

THAT’s what they removed from the core game, made people buy HoT to get back but also in the process screwed-over small guilds who used to be able to earn the perks but now can’t unlock the Guild Hall needed to do the same thing.

Once again for those who cannot read. You do not need HoT to gain access to Guild Halls. Also, “Guilds without a guild hall can use the Guild Initiative Headquarters in Lion’s Arch to gain some of the bonuses before unlocking the hall itself”.(https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_hall)
And again, as a member of a guild you receive all the same bonuses with or without ever having purchased HoT.

Is it more difficult for smaller guilds to get the guild bonuses? Sure. But that doesn’t mean it’s locked behind a paywall.

Time Gate Philosophy

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Still don’t get it. Why do we care about slowing things down? Why do we care about “protecting” the market?

Imagine if you could run through everything, be able to craft everything near instantly.
You don’t need to wait to do any bosses, they just auto spawn on repeat. Meta event chains, ascended crafting, etc.

What happens then? There is nothing left to look forward to. Nothing to work towards. No reason to continuously play. No reason to log in everyday.

Also with that, the economy goes haywire. Suddenly tons of gold, mats, items. flood the market. Then nothing is worth anything, or costs the sky.

Then at the very extreme, people stop playing. They have thousands of gold, but nothing to buy. Nothing to work towards. Everything has been done. And the game slowly dies.

Time gates are a great and easy way to keep players playing. It’s become almost an industry standard. Even super popular games like Angry Birds, or Candy Crush are time gated. You only have so many lives per day, but you can spend some money and buy more, or wait. But it keeps players playing. That’s the sole purpose of it. And it seems to work rather well.

They removed guild features from the core game, repackaged them, and put them in HoTs exclusively.

Are you sure about that?

I haven’t seen anywhere that says any guild features have been removed from free accounts, and only available exclusively in HoT. The only things I found was free accounts are unable to access guild storage, but core game accounts (i.e. paid accounts that haven’t purchased HoT) can still access them.

Also Free accounts can access guild halls, as well core accounts, but HoT exclusive features will not be accessible.

You can get into the Guild Hall map if you do not have Heart of Thorns and hang out with people, but most of the HoT guild features in there will be disabled for you. For example you will not be able to enter the Arena. I’m not going to go into detail on which specific things will be accessible and which are not because I’ll probably get it wrong

However, such things were not removed from the core game, they were added in HoT.

Also: “Free Accounts receive identical benefits from Guild membership except they have no access to the Guild vault, regardless of how permissions are set.”
https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild

Now can you be specific and give specific examples of features that have been removed from core game accounts in regards to guilds?

Edit: Also this: https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/97283837-Guilds-and-Guild-Halls
You’ll see that several of the guild buffs have been removed and reworked. However, as a member of the guild, you’ll still be able to receive the benefits of them.

Gear setup for Condition reaper

This is what i’m currently using and i’m quite happy with it now.

2100 condition damage
88% condition duration (100% bleed/chill)
2000 Power
41% crit

The rotation is fairly complicated, and I am still fine tuning it. Right now it goes:

Scepter 2->dagger 5->CPC->Bip->Scepter 3->Dagger 4->Swap to stafkittentaff 2-5->RS 4->RS 5 -> RS 1(x6) ->Staff 2-> Scepter 1 (x3) ->repeat.

Fill in scepter 1 while waiting for CD’s on repeated rotation. It’s a work in progress but seems to give pretty good damage. During burst phases it is almost always better to just spam RS1. The vuln application, high burn and high direct damage is very nice for burn phases, but it can not be sustained since a single hit will knock you out of RS.

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNArYGjc0QzNWdDe34oYokF9Qf00mYKu1YAMAJAA-TRyFAB7+AA49EAwkyPb2fYR1fO4IAAwhAwN9BXpEMAwBwu1tu7Gwu7u7u7ubpA6btF-e

I run something like this.
Rabid gear with Undead runes.

The undead runes convert toughness to condi damage. Plus The tuning crystals also add to condi damage. Plus while in combat you get another small boost through Corrupter’s Fervor.

I can get average 3.5k bleeds, as well as 600-800 poison. If you use epidemic (which is a must in Dragons Stand) you can push that even higher. Just last night I hit 12k burning, 5k bleeds and 3k poison just from epidemic alone.

I’ll have to revisit it now that we have HoT and see if it’s still an option.

However I do agree that the guardian health pool is a bit on the light side. A small buff to that would not be out of order.

Maybe I was wrong in my understanding, but I thought that with HoT that the identity of Mister E would be revealed.

Unless I missed the dialogue in story about it, there seems to be no mention of Mister E at all.

This really irked me about the story. Although I thought it was good, there were far too many loose ends, new questions, and lack of closure.

Does anyone else have any new information on the elusive Mister E that I may have missed?

HoT story feedback [Spoilers]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: pdavis.8031

pdavis.8031

Ok I just completed the HoT story last night. It was awesome and amazing!!! Aside from a few bugs at the final battle, I was rather impressed. However, there are some negative things I would also like to address.

First of all, the Good:
-Sense of Urgency
Loved how the PC was on point the whole story. The PC had really stepped up to the plate, and took charge. Making quick decisions, and being matter of fact about it really made it feel like it was a race against the clock, that if I didn’t move fast enough I was going to end up losing everything. It was awesome!

-“Commander”
Got rid of that silly “Boss” nonsense. Being called commander again felt good, and like I played an important part.

-The Dialogue.
Simply Amazing!! It was well done, the voice actors really out did themselves.

-Emotional
I love how you made the story so emotional. Killing Eir and Scruffy made the danger presented by Mordremoth that much more real. Although it was sad to seem them die it really was well done.

Now the not so good:
-Lack of Epilogue.
There was no celebration at the end. No follow up with Logan, Zojia, or Taimi., no reunion with the pact, or with the Exalted. Just a reward, and a little bit of dialogue with those that were there. At least when we killed Zhaitan, there was a celebration that followed. Not so much here.

-Too many loose ends.
Unless I missed it, there was nothing about who Mister E was. I was hoping for that to be revealed, but it never was. Nothing about the Pale Tree, who was dying. No new information from Rytlock about what happened in the Mists.

-Caithe.
I must have missed something. Caithe comes back, loses the egg, and we recover it. Then she disappears. Then comes back again when rescuing Logan and Zojia. No word on what she was doing, where she had been. But then is suddenly asking why she can't fight. What? I didn't even realize she HAD returned at that point. Other then a small part where someone just says "Caithe!". And then she fights with us, then asked to be allowed to fight. So confused!!!

Overall I thought the story was great, but these were just a few things that made me go “Huh?”

I also agree that Guild Halls need a personal bank. I would be ok if it was something that had to be unlocked like the rest of the buildings, as long as there is access.

But if that is not an option perhaps allowing the Guild Treasurer to access materials from your bank to add to the treasury, similar to how crafting works. As long as it’s it your bank you can access it to make stuff.
