Great post! Though we did a CDI to discuss Living World and covered many of these topics and concerns in there as well, I think it’s always good to stop and brainstorm and give feedback on how to improve the living world experience. A lot of very valid points in there, and things we generally agree with as well in retrospect on season 1.
Constructive criticism with great feedback and suggestions is exactly what these forums exist for, +1 to you OP!
Why couldn’t you tell us that earlier?
What I mean by that is why wait more than a week after the patch hit to tell us. I can understand not saying anything before the 18th now so you can avoid a influx of last minute pves
We had to wait for wardrobe to be announced so we didn’t spoil the surprise for the people that didn’t already figure it out. I meant to mention two days ago, but was so busy I forgot to necro the thread. Sorry.

We removed glory and match reward chests early to prevent a flood of PvE players from coming into PvP just to fill their wardrobe. While the our team would LOVE everyone playing PvP, some super smart economist peopleguys said it would have negative repercussions on the in-game economy or something.
It’s really unfortunate that we had to do this, but we explored other ways of handling it and nothing was really feasible except holding wardrobe back until the next feature pack (which also meant holding back lots of other PvP changes) or removing some of the PvP rewards for a month.
Edit: Tune in this Friday for news about the next phase of the new reward system.

Justin, out of curiosity what build do you run in PvP?
I usually run a lockdown build, but like to experiment.
It’s because you’re a mesmer that you’re “only” in the 80s, don’t you agree? XD
I think the biggest thing holding me back is keeping track of my illusions and knowing when to shatter. I have really hard time effectively using the diversion and distortion shatters.
I’m a better engineer than mesmer, but I keep coming back to mesmer because it’s more fun to play.

OK
Can you cull out the ones that are not playing Warrior, decap engie or Thief as their main?
Done. Hugh plays a Hambow, but he played it before it was cool. I’m pretty sure he’s been using that same warrior (Nightmare) since launch.
OK, which one plays a Mesmer? Which one plays an Ele?
I main Mesmer, and I think Evan has a Mesmer alt. Branden plays Ele, and Allie use to play Ele before she went over to the dark side and started playing Necro. I don’t know what Roy and Tyler B run.

With that said, you say “not possible”, and that’s just not true. It IS possible, they just don’t want to bother with it, which is incredibly stupid. Skin replacement is one of the easiest things out there in coding, when the skins are already present. It’s essentially like turning a light switch. That’s not entirely true.
Each of the armor weights in the game is constructed differently, which is probably one of the reasons we haven’t seen mixing and matching between different weights. It’s also likely the reason we see so many trenchcoats on medium armor—it’s specifically designed to support coats that go over pants. Light armor divides at the waist, and town clothes followed the same rules. If you read this blog post, you can pick up some hints as to how things were coded and why going back to change things would be more difficult than just find-and-replace:
In Guild Wars 2, weight classes determine the profession distribution and the seam rules for our armor coordination. We realized there were times when we desperately wanted to break those rules, so we developed a solution to do so. For example, town clothes work similar to the light armor system. There is a waist seam that allows mixing and matching to work relatively smoothly between pieces, which gives the player as much creative freedom as possible. But for clothing, it would be a travesty to never have a long trench coat, which has a seam overlap that would follow medium armor seam rules.
To solve this dilemma, we have created sets. Sets are two or more sections of armor fused into one to prevent mixing troubles that allow us to design with far less seam constraints. For example, we could have an outfit with a large trench coat, an inside vest and shirt, and pants. You’ve seen this before in my previous clothing blog post. That outfit is one piece.
I suspect this is why many town clothes pieces, such as the pirate captain’s outfit and Bloody Prince set, operate as one piece. And although I have zero technical expertise in this area, I think it probably follows that in order to make town clothes body pieces wearable in combat at all, it either works as an all-or-nothing system or they have to go back and change all of the armor in the game to follow the same seam rules (which might break several current armor sets, too). That would be a massive undertaking, and in the end it’s probably better that the lesser-used system takes a hit.
I’m not exactly happy with it, and I wish things hadn’t been designed that way in the first place (mostly because I’d like to see mixed armor weights), but establishing outfits as an overlay allows them some freedom to keep releasing costumes for holidays and making some sets of “universal” armor which don’t necessitate revamping the whole of GW2’s armor system. Since outfits use a separate system from transmutes, they can also probably be disallowed in PvP if it becomes a problem.
I can only speculate as to the choice to make some pieces tonics, but that might be the place to lean—respectfully—if we’d rather see them as outfits which can be dyed and used in combat.
Bonefield has a pretty good understanding here of why some mix and match is not easy at all. Some armor and clothing combinations are fundamentally not mixable, (for more than just clipping reasons)
A few more details on toys. Costume brawl toys are not tonics… Almost all of them will be usable with armor, outfits, tonics and other transforms.
The exception is boxing gloves, which is a brawl toy plus tonic in one.. so it will not combine with other looks, and Sonic Tunneling Tool… which scrubs transforms off you when you go underground.
Definitely tune in, because we’re going to try and answer some questions as well as show a lot of new stuffs.
For our 9th episode of Ready Up, we’ll be talking about the next phase of PvP rewards. On the show, we will have Evan Lesh and Hugh Norfolk along with our Champion Genius host, Josh Davis.

We are gathering all the feedback, suggestions, and questions for the Dev Teams. Thank you!
I just played through as a L33 character, and didn’t have any problems. The pirates don’t have any regeneration boons, so I don’t see how they’re getting health back unless you kite them too far away and they heal up when they hit end their end of their leash and return to their starting location.
EDIT to add: Take out the tower (crow’s nest) right away, since you can destroy it without drawing the pirates into the fight. If you try to fight them and the tower all at once, it can be tough.
Howdy there!

Hey all,
We’ve been seeing a lot more threads popping up about skill lag & other lag related issues lately. Also, we’ve experienced it ourselves.
I would like to get some more information to see if there’s something we can do to mitigate, or fix the issue completely. Here’s what I’m looking for (please try to answer every question if possible):
- What kind of issue are you specifically having that could be related to lag?
- Skill lag, rubber-banding, etc.
- What server are you on?
- Has there ever been a time when you or a friend are experiencing lag, while others in your party are not?
- Has there ever been a time where one party in a map is experiencing lag, while other parties in that same map are not?
- Do you experience the lag at very specific times?
- For example, when 1 zerg is facing another zerg.
- If so, can you estimate how many players are in each zerg?
Please try to be as brief/concise as possible. We’re not looking for stories of when you experienced this, just some solid data.
If you can think of anything else you believe is pertinent to this topic, feel free to share that as well.
Thanks all!

Please leave your feedback on this thread. Thanks!
Everyone, I’m just as upset as most in this thread, but can we please keep it civil? As devs have said in the past, they care about the game and they do not make changes to “slap the community in the face.” Can we please not threaten them with any sort of violence and refrain from assuming they are out to spite or ignore the community? Even if you feel this way, it is not productive nor will it help the situation.
Yes, thank you. Please keep it civil to not only our staff, but to each other, while you are giving us your feedback. We are compiling it all together and we should have more answers on a variety of topics regarding Wardrobe when we do.
Thanks for your patience and understanding.

So, I logged onto the game today and found I had 1001 gems. I don’t remember buying any gems, so is the game glitchy or have I lost it?
EDIT: Never mind, I relogged and found I was back to 0 gems. Not sure if I should be relieved that I’m not insane (or worse, my account been hacked) or disappointed that I no longer have 1001 gems.
You could still be insane, but what you’re noticing is a minor bug.

Likely an oversight. I’ll let the team know.

A little added note here, Outfits will still respect the ‘hide helm’ toggle so you can absolutely wear Wintersday or Mad King outfit without the hat or pumpkin.
But we want to dye them! And mix them up with other items!
Behold the beauty of an Asura with a pink wintersday outfit and a pink quaggan hat. This has been possible for a year, and now it suddenly isn’t anymore? I thought this patch was supposed to allow us more flexibility with armor? Seriously, at least tell us why you are doing this. As it is now, I can only assume that you just hate cute Asura in pink Wintersday outfits and pink Quaggan hats. And that’s evil.
Outfits can still be dyed, They will have up to 4 dye channels depending on the outfit.
Sorry about the mix-and-match. Converting things to be armor and combat compatible did come with some trade-offs. For the most part we tried to favor mixing with armor slots and skins (a lot more possible combinations). Hopefully we’ll see more consistently usable customization now that part of it isn’t hidden in town clothes that get turned off every fight. Outfits come as a set and equip as a set with the added benefit of not costing charges or requiring items to apply onto additional characters.
I think if anything this was a lesson in how efficient the market is and is a great argument against that idea.
…
I love to use my Wintersday town clothes on my human male, but I really hate how the hat looks on him. I much prefer the coolio aviator sunglasses that he is currently wearing.
I would be very disappointed if he always had to wear that hat. x_xI do like the Mad King’s outfit on my Norn, but I would also like to show his face while wearing it. I would also be very disappointed if he had to wear the pumpkin head all the time. :/
A little added note here, Outfits will still respect the ‘hide helm’ toggle so you can absolutely wear Wintersday or Mad King outfit without the hat or pumpkin.

After three separate incidents of botting, the account will remain closed and no further information will be provided.470346 – is not resolved. there was absolutely no research done into the problem. it was given a generic response of “common slang spelled backwards will be censored.” there was no use of slang it was a use of phonetics that one player had a problem with and suddenly I’m being forced to repeatedly change my character names. this is a severe lack of customer service for players who spent several dollars on both the game and in game items, not to mention those who support the product as a whole.
This case was given a great deal of careful consideration. Because other players were concerned about the names, and because at first glance they were quite questionable in nature, the team felt that it was best to uphold the actions already taken — multiple times — on the names in question. Please do not make more characters with that particular letter combination and you’ll be just fine. I know you’re not terribly happy with the decision, but it was made without malice, in considering what is best for the game as a whole.

Thanks for the link, Cassocaster!

With the removal of Dye’s from the random drop table will there be any change to the requirement of 250 dyes for the Gift of Color?
Yes. We just received verification from Dev that we will be reducing the amount of unidentified dyes needed to 100.
The only reason that we use account “snapshots” is to in the course of an account restoration, which would be offered only in the case of a verified compromise by an unknown third party.
Snapshots and restorations are not relevant to game updates.

I agree with the suggestions given above. If you have any doubt that your e-mail is secure, then you should not request assistance through that e-mail account, because the hacker could view every response and continue to jeopardize your account.
I do suggest you work with your e-mail provider to try to regain secure access to your account. But in the interim, you may wish to contact Support from an alternate e-mail account if you are certain that one is secure. You’ll be asked to answer account ownership verification questions, to make sure that all is kept secure from our end.
Not swiping at Gaile, but if that email account has ever communicated with another email account (i.e. you’ve emailed yourself in the past), don’t use the second one, either. In that case, you’re better off CALLING CS, because then you know the only eavesdropping going on is the NSA.
Generally I find that when people have an e-mail account compromised, they set up a completely new E-mail account with a new provider. In such a case, doing that will address the concerns you mentioned.

If you do submit a ticket, it would be very helpful if you would write out the entire name and/or display name of the character, since we do not have a means to accept screenshots at this time. Please offer:
- Name of offending character
- Display name of offending character (if known)
- Date
- Time and time zone
- Game world
- Content of comments
These details will allow our agent to pull “game logs” for the period around which the comments were made, thereby providing them with a means of determining what was said and whether it involved an infraction.
