Unfortunately, we’re still having problems identifying the root cause of this issue. If there are exact steps you can take to reproduce this bug, please let us know!
On that note, please be sure to keep this thread on topic and only with information related to the “siren” sound bug. If you have other audio bugs to report, please create a separate thread. Thanks, everyone!

[EDIT] After some investigation, we’ve determined the effect is coming from your elite “Signet of Rage.” Unfortunately, I don’t think it’s possible to turn off the effect, as it’s designed that way, but you know why it comes up now! ^^;

Did moving near the statue fix the problem? We haven’t seen this issue when we test it on our end, so additional information on what you’re doing prior to it stalling would be appreciated. Also, please let us know if there’s something unclear about this story that makes it confusing; we want it to be as seamless and intuitive as possible. Thanks!

The Whisperers skins are intended to be only acquired if you join the Order of Whispers, but unfortunately a handful of the skins were set up in core loot drops. In the other night’s patch, we fixed this bug and converted the existing weapons into the intended skin. If you acquired the weapon through the intended means (joining the Order and purchasing the exclusive skin), those weapons were not affected by the fix. Only the ones that were erroneously dropped as core loot were affected. Apologies for the mistake! If you loved the skin, I highly recommend selecting the Order of Whispers through your personal story and you’ll be able to acquire it again.
In that case please fix the icon use for Whisperers weapons that was drop as loot, because they are still showing Whisperer’s icon instead of normal icon. Because this change was never communicated properly to us players I wasted my coins buying Whispered weapons through the trading post only to receive a normal weapons.
We are working on updating the TP right now.

Submit an in-game ticket using the inappropriate character name category (for now) until a guild name option is added. There will be no automatic actions taken on the report, so there’s no need to worry about getting someone’s character name changed by accident.
Thanks!

I get this error all the time also. It happens most often if I am switching between characters, or teleporting to waypoints (I will teleport, and then half a second after the loading screen ends and shows me, it will crash). It’s happened a few times also just before a cut-scene starts.
I couldn’t figure out how to run MemTest86, but here are my corupt dat files as a 7 zip link download: https://s3.amazonaws.com/mypersonals3/guild-wars-2-corupt-dat-files.7z
Codeblink, I took a look at your mountain of Corrupt-*.dat files. = )
There was one completely scrambled file, but every single other file showed the exact same pattern of corruption. It’s always a single-bit error on addresses along the lines of “0x?? ?? ?? 10”, and always the bit for “8”.
I highly recommend that you run a thorough test with MemTest86+. Unfortunately I don’t have a good set of instructions on running that for you. Here are a couple of links via Google, though:

Nowadays most computers support booting from USB sticks, and I personally find that to be much easier than digging out a CD-R or hunting at garage sales for a floppy-disk drive. ; )

Your name, a comment, a trade that resulted in someone being unhappy with the trade…any of these things could have resulted in your ban.
Your best bet is to buy a new copy and never use chat again. Go research Mccarthyism and it’ll explain everything.
Good luck to you.
This is absolutely false, and your historical reference doesn’t even make sense. How is a chat issue related to “witch hunts” for purported communists?
This account seems obviously to have been hacked, meaning the suspension is related to its security, not to actions taken by the owner. The OP has contacted Support, which is the right thing to do, and we’ll help as soon as we are able.

We’re on board with the general message that we need to allow more people to make purchases, to adjust barriers that protect against fraud but which may also prevent legitimate purchases.
Fixing this is definitely in all our best interests, and it is something we’ll continue to try to improve. In the meantime, thank you for your patience, and thank you for your support of the game!

Paul,
Make sure the 64bit users are using memtest86+ or they will get erroneous results and you guys will chase the issue around in circles.
Thanks for the tip! I haven’t needed to use MemTest86 myself in a while, so I didn’t realize it was forked. x_x
Ya I tried it, but it just said Theres been an error contact support
Can you please give us more details about the error ? Thanks.
Also, as Remembrance.2639 pointed out in another thread — make sure to use MemTest86+ for 64-bit platforms.
Spy, I grabbed your files and ran my scripts on them. Screenshots of the comparisons on those three files are attached below. (Note that I assembled these screenshots by hand, so I can’t exactly do this in particular on a regular basis.)
In each of the three blocks from these corrupted files, there was only a single-bit error. The error was in the exact same ‘column’ (address 0x??AE) and always occurred for the bit representing ‘4’ (evidenced by 1 changing to 5 and A changing to E).
Apologies if this is a bit technical, but I wanted to share my exact findings with you. To me this strongly suggests an issue with your RAM; I have no theories otherwise at this time. Believe me when I say I’d love for this to be a bug so I can fix it and get all of you playing for days straight without issue. = (
(Still looking into what options we can use to receive more files.)
The self-help system is live today for testing for the players who need to reset their passwords or turn off email authentication on their account. Keep in mind that, with email authentication off, your account security relies on you using a unique and strong password for Guild Wars 2 that you’ve never used anywhere else.
You can find the instructions on using the self-help system here: http://en.support.guildwars2.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9222
If self-help solves your issues, please make sure to close the tickets you opened with Support. Thank you.

[EDIT]
Current Issues:
There is currently an issue where completing certain story steps as part of a group can change the path of your character’s story if you are not the story owner.
While we’re still working on identifying the underlying issue , we do know that the bug is triggered by players completing story missions as a group that include making a big decision or completing story missions as part of a group that check for the decisions you’ve made.
We will continue investigating this bug, but in the meantime, if you want to play it safe and lower the chances of running into this while doing group story, here are the quests you should complete solo (these are the story steps we’re aware of; there may be others).
— Chapter 5 —
- Skritt
- Set to Blow
- Ogre
- The Lost Chieftain’s Return
- Grawl
- Attempted Deicide
- Quaggan
- Evacuation
- Hylek
- Unholy Grounds
— Chapter 7 —
- The Battle of Fort Trinity
Unfortunately, if you’ve already run into one of these issues, we cannot reset your progress or change your existing story path.
The problem is that there is literally no difference between a character who intentionally picked the Vigil and one who got sent there by the bug, so there’s simply no way to automatically fix affected characters. Our CS team does not have the ability to change your current quest or order, either, so it’s not something that we can manually fix on a case by case basis, either.
We will continue to monitor and update this thread as information comes in and changes are made.
Past/resolved issues:
- Initial bug: Players skipped 18 levels of personal story content after completing “Kellach’s Attack” in a group.
- Resolution: Affected players were reset back to the personal story step they were on before the skipped content.
- Initial bug: Players who completed the story step where an order is chosen as part of a group ended up as part of the Vigil by default.
- Resolution: This cause behind this issue was fixed in the 10/22 patch; it should not reoccur. Unfortunately, we have no way to retroactively fix this for players who have already been affected.

Hey guys, I’m sorry you’re running into these graphical issues! It is a known issue that when your camera gets near to the ground or up against a wall that your visuals may “flicker” or unload weirdly.
If you could post a screenshot of your minimap (zoomed in) with the sector name (the name that appears at the top of the mini-map when hovering your mouse over it) and the direction you’re facing, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks for the reports!
Y u mad its vydia, I completely understand your frustrations. This is something we’re looking into. The designers are working hard and long hours to make everything as enjoyable as possible. We appreciate your patience while we examine each issue.

Thanks for the update Evan. I’m really glad that you are working on an update. Both my gf and I have however completely stopped playing, until the issue is resolved.
I really hope it doesn’t take “weeks” to resolve…
That is certainly not the goal.
As a recommendation, this may be a good time to try out another profession or race. My only warning is that once you reach the level 30-40 missions, you run through them individually until a permanent fix has been implemented. That, or you could avoid the story altogether while you tackle map-completion or dungeons (my style of exploration).
Is there any word on whether or not it will be possible to fix this issue in a manner that allows us to experience the content of the storyline properly at a later date?
I personally do not mind if I have to wait a few weeks to continue the storyline after a reset to make sure issues do not recur. I think most people just want to know that they will be able to experience that content on their characters EVENTUALLY.Thank you again for your reply, and I am certain all people who are experiencing this problem look forward to further updates.
The designers are discussing a fix for people who have already been affected by the issue. It’s critical to ensure that a reset doesn’t lead to larger issues down the road: such as the ability to choose a second path along a storyline where you’ve already chosen one, leading to what could only be explained as a “timeline paradox” which would surely cause all sorts of unhappiness to the time-space continuum.
The short answer: a permanent fix for those who have been affected by the issue is being investigated, and we thank everyone for their patience in an obviously frustrating situation.

Hi everyone, thanks for the reports! We’ve been looking at this from the back-end, and we could use some help from you to identify where it would be breaking. If you could provide some additional details, it would help us track down the problem:
- Your previous story choices (i.e. race, profession, etc.)
- Whether you’re doing the story solo or in a group
- What you’re doing in this story step prior to the point where it stops working
Screenshots, etc. are always helpful as well. Thanks again for helping us track this down!

Hey everyone,
First off, I’d like to extend a personal thanks to everybody who has taken the time to post the details of your situation. These specifics have been extremely helpful in finding the root cause of the issue, and the design team has been hard at work on not only a fix, but a solution for those who have been affected by the bug. I apologize for the inconvenience caused by this unfortunate issue, and assure you that the designers are hard at work addressing all of the critical issues detracting from a positive game experience.
As mentioned by others already, the issue revolves around playing through the missions where you choose your order as a group. The design team is currently exploring solutions for the issue and is working towards implementing a fix as soon as possible.
In the meantime, I would encourage everyone to please keep the discussion civil and on-topic. We are actively working towards a fix and are constantly on watch for any new issues which may arise in the first few weeks of the game! =)
Good hunting!
Why is the dev tracker tracking community relations people when they just close posts?
Posted by: Mark Katzbach
After having a look at the dev tracker, I have to say I disagree with your assessment that 90% of the tracker is lock notifications. The dev tracker is set up to track all ArenaNet employees, not just the ones whose posts you wish to follow. As such, this feature is working as intended and is not a bug.

Hello, twwizzie!
A quick note: our downloader is not peer-to-peer; we use a Content Distribution Network (CDN) to ensure quicker updates.
The process of updating the game’s data is more involved than just downloading files from a server, though. We use a special system which sends minimal patches for individual files, which can greatly reduce bandwidth-requirements. However, now your computer has to do a whole bunch of slow processing of data to apply this patch — reading the old file from Gw2.dat, applying the patch, verifying the data, compressing, and finally writing the new file to disk. It’s frequently the case that this intensive work is the bottleneck in the downloader, so you’ll see this manifest as slower-than-expected downloads.
Hope this is helpful. = )
Hey guys. We’ve been looking in to this issue. Did you speak with Vracken the first skritt before moving on? I have a feeling that might have caused your issue @cupcake. If you do try speaking with him when you first meet him, let me know what step is still not completing. A screenshot would be really helpful as well.
@roark I have a feeling Tybalt not showing up may be an issue not related to this quest. When you joined an order, did you do that quest with your friend? It would have been when you spoke to the order reps and selected which order you want to join.
(edited by Alexandra Triplett.1280)
Hello everyone! I think I figured out what’s going on with this quest. When you get the dimensional anchor, try using it on the area the stasis bubble was appearing, not directly on Maeva. You should be able to see the bubble when you enter the basement for the first time, but it seems to disappear after getting the anchor. We’re currently tracking this issue, and working to making the information clearer. Sorry for the confusion! If this does not fix your problem please let me know by replying to this thread.
