recent changes for “right click use all” on a ton of items are all great, but it seems to be missing from the cooking ingredients you buy for karma in bulk, AKA tomatos in bulk, lemons in bulk, etc..

i don’t really see a downside to adding this to those items as well. discus?

refugee's beet soup TP issue

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Cyto.9401

Cyto.9401

Hello,

when i am not doing pve content with my guild, i make cooking consumables to sell on the tp. every once in a while i will craft a recipe that is making me tons of profits. recently i decided to make bowls of refugee beet soup, and sell them for around 60% profit. everything was going great yesterday, and i put up my soups last night.

the next day i look at my TP listings, and i had not yet sold a single one. this is not unusual as you can get undercut pretty quickly. so i look at the people that undercut me, and i notice i can buy them all out, put my items back as the first to be sold, and resell the items i bought to do this for the exact same price as my own and make a very small profit.

so i buy all of those, and then i notice something.

one listing for 36s00c.

i thought i miscalculated and bought that one remaining one. i did. its still there.

i buy it again, and it is still there.

i did this 5 times (keep in mind, there was only 1 listed at 36s00c every time i did this).

a couple hours later i check, and it is STILL there. i try to buy it, it appears in my TP pickup window, just like before, but there is still 1 item listed for 36s00c of refugee’s beet soup that for some reason does not want to disappear even after it has been bought ~8ish times now.

is this a bug? am i losing my mind and seeing numbers where there are none? did anet put a max price on an item so if it gets more expensive then the max price the automatically add them to the TP out of thin air? is someone putting up sell listings for beet soup so fast and 1 at a time for some reason?

i then asked a guild member of mine to buy that one listed for 36s00c to see what would happen, and it disappeared like it should..

now i noticed similar issues for other consumables before, though i didn’t think much of it until today

thoughts? similar experiences?

Question about Pristine Toxic Spore Sample

in Crafting

Posted by: Cyto.9401

Cyto.9401

it is my educated guess that everything will disappear except the seedlings.

well i guarantee the price is going to move with the spore samples, but the food is really expensive to make (3x peppercorn > average lvl 80 recipe price, and then there is still the other ingredients) so the supply might be quitte.. low.

have fun though, with what ever it is you are trying!

Price total is a bit off since it assumes you will get 77 clovers from 77 tries. Also I’m not sure if you can mark things you have already off the list to get the count down. Maybe if you log in using Facebook it will allow it. If you are using it as a reference to buy a legendary on the TP. Currently its about 400-800g mark up for the skill points, badges, tokens and Gift of Exploration.

EDIT: Also found this: http://calculator.bravevesperia.com/

its because some people are using the clover recipe to turn there skill points into gold since you get high tier mats if you fail as well. not the best way to spend skill points in concur, but you do not make that big a loss if you fail most of the time.

if i were a betting man id say stagnant. more and more people are losing interest and moving on though :P i know i am. once i have my elementalist to level 80 i have every class 80. then i only need a couple of stacks of logs and i can make my legendairy, and then… all that’s left for me is living story. so that means a couple of days each 2 weeks.
if they add new pvp modes that might hook me for a while, though they are taking there sweet time with that one very obvious thing.

i can almost certainly say though, that the amount of time spent in game is decreasing across the board. same amount of people logging in every game, spending less time in game, that’s what id bet on :-)

Personally I would rather be undercut by 1c than 300g. Effectively destroying values of things in a couple listings. Undercutting is pointless anyways, if you match the lowest seller the most recent listing will be sold first (same goes for orders).

You can also catch people offguard on buy orders if you match their price, instead of raising eachother 1c back and forth .

I think, not fully sure, that that isn’t true; I think the TP is FIFO, not LIFO.

This is indeed correct. Matching buy orders will do nothing for you. Their buy order will get filled first.

just in case there was still confusion. it is first in first out, 100% sure

skritt hit daily is rude

in A Very Merry Wintersday

Cyto.9401

in the name of the Cumulative Union of Smart Skritt (or CUSS) i call out to Anet to change the daily that consists of hitting skritt (and only skritt) with snowballs.

i know the intent was to hit the “theiving skritt” that try to steal presents from the ministril and ho ho tron, but ever since the daily released more and more skritt have been the subject to pummeling after pummeling with snowballs. not only that, when pointing out it was racist to some one who was doing his daily on the LA plaza, he told me he deserved it because the skritt in question must be a theif.
the skritt in question was just trying to enjoy a nice time on the LA plaza with a multicultural snowball fight when he was ganged up upon by multiple players, and while he kept on a brave face by laughing it off, i know he was crying inside.

while it is true that a lot of skritt have to resort to thieving this is not only there fault, as skritt are currently not accepted as one of the major races (so they can’t get loans to start businesses or build suitable housing), and with how the skritts cumulative intellect makes it hard to understand the meaning of ownership, these are all things that make it hard for skritt to integrate into society.
i have no doubt in my mind however we can overcome these prejudices and move into a better future with education and open minds!

as for the daily issue, you could fix the intended purpose and make it so only the theiving skritt count (and make another daily that is, lets face it, a goldsink).
or
you could make it a universal thing. trow 10 snowballs to all participating npc’s or players! this would increase the feeling of unity amongst the races and bind us together in a bit of harmless fun!

Each collections expander gives you an additional stack for 344 different material types, not including minis.

Assume gold-gems at 9g/100 gems (higher than I’ve ever seen it). 3 expansions @ 800 gems each = 2400 gems or 216g for 1032 additional stacks of items stored, not including miniatures.

Influence for a personal guild costs 20g/10,000 influence. For just the storage upgrades and their prerequisites, you’re spending 52,500 influence, or 105g for 250 slots.

105g/250 slots at 0.42g/slot
or
216g/1032 slots at 0.20g/slot

Seems cost-effective to me, but then I intend to do both eventually anyway.

only works if you use 4 stacks of every material, you cant eg fill up your collections tab with only slabs of red meat. the guild stash seems a lot more usefull. it might be more for you then for me of course but i buy nearly 6 stacks of butter every day, and a lot more other stuff that would not fit otherwise (like 20 stacks of saffron thread)

- the next election would be better as a more European style democracy, with more then just 2 parties to choice from. i like the multi-votes-per-person system ONLY cause this is a game
- CHAIRS for the rp community.. they have been asking since forever, or at least crutches without back support to prevent some clipping issues.
- id want them to make dyes acc bound again, so i can look good on all my alts, without having to spend 1000 gold to unlock all dyes. also make dye achievements and titles like artist if you unlock 150 dyes
- click on a craftable recuired item for a recipe and go to the recipe for that item (omnomberry compote in omnomberry bar recipe; ball of dough in every pie recipe; tomato sauce in…)
- player housing/advanced home instance decorating system. (become the majoy of your patch in divinitys reach cause you where traherns lacky for so long, design your lab to be better suited for your brainstorming sessions, gather different kinds of booze for your homestead,..)
- give the karma % gain the same treatment as magic find, and i would say gold % too, but that will increase the inflation aaaaaand.. no
- post the “you bought gems in this month, here is your reward” in stead of keeping it hidden untill you actually send out the mails (wintersday is a great example, though the numbers (2k gems) are kinda silly). this will insentavise people to buy gems once each month, in stead of just when they need too.
- an in game browser of the wiki in stead of an alt tab out would be a nice addition as well
- i like a lot of the “do this and if you are good enough at it you get a mini” minis, as it proves you actually have done something besides buy it from the trade post, more of these would be awesome!
- solve the content id thing with youtube, we know gw2s stance on it, but people are still losing revenue nonetheless
- choir bell-> extreme edition with multiple intruments (flute, vuvuzela, bell,..) and more songs!
- complex riddles and puzzles, cause we all know some people are too bookah to solve them on there own, but they will just have to type /wiki NameOfThePuzzleHere to get the solution and all the asura will just get a kick out of that
- one for the forums: the error message that pops up when you try to click the reply button after making a long list, that tells you your message must be 5001 characters or less, should tell you how many characters you are over the limit, cause now i’m just going to have to split my post into 2

- id love they’d fix underwater combat in a way that makes it fun to do, and then add it to wvw or spvp or both :P (give all skills a underwater variety and all underwater weapons an above water variety)
- i also love more guild related activities
- more skills for all classes (build variety+)
- more dyes (glamour+)
- different spvp modes (i hated capture points way before gw2, and still do)
- a system that balances material prices to what anet intends for them to be (the higher the price difference the more quantity of mats you get for every node, or something similar)
- different trait builds saved on one character, maybe even each with its own set of gear etc..
- guild halls (i find it really weird this does not exist yet considering the overflow system works so similar, same basic location but with different groups of people, and guild unlocks decide whats what)
- make dungeons and fractals work like max 5 people overflow servers, so people don’t get kicked when the starter guy leaves (bug still in game after sooo long..)
- different guaranteed ways to get precursors (but still very hard to do) (been datamined but still not in game so i thought id put it in here anyway)
- more different dailies and more permanent dailies (crafting permanent daily would be great in my case, daily leveler also seems like something you could do every day)
- max daily achievement points to 5 each day OR make a daily meta achievement for 5 points which requires 5 dailies which each give no points.
- make living story less about single characters that change the world. make it so the areas change over time, one map each 2 weeks, starting with orr cause zaitan has been dead for over a year and still they haven’t taken back even a cm of land yet omgwtfbbqsauce
- more recipes with different stat combinations, and no more silly recipes that require more then 2 of a single material (eg 20 beets for refugee beet soup.. rly?) and no more consumables with stats that already exist.
- make more repeatable achievements (and more achievements overall). make the repeatable achievements infinite, each time you complete them they give more points, but they also become harder (eg salvage achievement. 1st time: 100×1.1^(0) #salvages, 2nd: 100×1.1^(1), .. salvage achievement for the 100th time: 100×1.1^(99). the 100th time you complete you’d need 1.252.783 salvages)
- more jumping puzzles! they are great :P
- link forum and ingame accounts so you can get achievements based on how active you are on the forums.
- no more RNG boxes (/sactastic tone: “thanks Gnashblade”)
- devs respond to every thread they read, even if its just a automated message that reads “we have read your thread and are considering what you posted” or something, that way players will feel a lot more heard, right now people are thinking the devs don’t care and don’t read.

and for arenanets sake, how can you turn this into a moneygrab with the gem store? you ask the queen to release ho-ho tron in your custody so you can chat with him about the living story in your home instance, as a permanent account upgrade, all for a measly 100 gems? i would buy this, then again i only buy permanent things ever.
so no permanent no sale. it would also make for a cheaper account upgrade option, the second lowest minimum being 500 gems for a finisher once.

While in general I agree with you, people following your advice should keep in mind that if they have any chance of switching servers, the collections expander might be a better option, since guild upgrades don’t transfer with you.

you could loot and switch server and make a new guild with 250 slots multiple times for the money it costs to get all stack expansions for the collections tab. but its true, only people faithful to there server can rely on this :p

interesting… ima check in on this, i need the crafting stations close by aswell otherwise my methods wont work, but thanks for the tip!

Crafting stations are arranged in a line in EH, with bank/guild bank/TP access at one end of the line. The closest stations are closer than in RS, the furthest (I think artificer) away is still no further than in RS.

it does not work for me on the second look, i was really hopeful but i have 2 issues with the location. the waypoint is to far from the actual tradepost, as i jump around getting the karma items i need for cooking this gets annoying. i enjoy doing my daily gathering in my home instance, the quartz and the candy corn. now that last issue is not as big as the first one.

Crafting…not profitable….?

Okay, I guess you won’t be making mountains of gold with it, but you can still make some decent coin. Even if you don’t make money off of it, you can still save money by making all your own stuff.

….Especially since I managed to make 20g-40g this week from crafting alone >.>;

i make 30g a day selling material to people who crafts…..

You would need to somehow farm those materials to sell, and those methods that you have used to farm, are also available to people who craft.

However, if I am a crafter and wishes to make a profit from crafting, obviously I would only choose to craft those items that are worth more than their ingredients put together. This route of profit is only available for crafters who have obtained the relevant crafting rating in that discipline and have learnt the relevant recipes.

Depending on how diligent I am, I can earn much more than 30g a day from crafting. Since reaching level 80 and maxed my crafting disciplines, I have no need to craft unprofitable items just for the sake of XP anymore.

you do not need to gather materials to make a profit from crafting. i just buy everything from the tradepost and still make decent coin :P

hearts are various npcs around the world of tyria.
if you help them out enough, the yellow heart icon will become completely filled up and you can then trade with that npc.
the currency you trade with is called karma.
you get karma from helping out npcs (hearts and events).
sometimes these hearts sell cooking ingredients such as “lemons in bulk” or “celery stalks in bulk”, each cost a bit of karma, and each contains 25 of the item (lemons in bulk contain lemons ./derp)
the more hearts you have the more of these cooking items you have access to.
so if you have all of them unlocked you can use every cooking item.
if you only have some unlocked, you can not craft certain recipes cause its impossible to get them the ingredients any other way!

hope this helps

the idea of a collections tab expansion is silly to me. here is why:

most materials in said collections tab are trade-able, and as a result you could store them in a private guild bank, which is A LOT (please do the math, you wont believe me if i post it here) cheaper per stack you can save. all you need to do is buy a guild for 1 silver, and then buy the drinks for the city for a week (or other versions) in one of the major cities. those will get you influence you need to get your private guild bank up in levels of architecture and eventually guildbank space.

keep in mind that you can not store non tradeables in there. but i find my regular bank is more then big enough to keep those.

its very possible, i have 800 gold all made with crafting and like 10 gold starting capital from leveling :p

Please do share your divine knowledge, cause I never made any profit ever.

haha you see, thats no something ill do cause then i will make less profit cause more people will demand the resources i need, and even less profit cause those people will also undercut me. i will tell you this though.

lets take omnomberry pie at this time:
you can sell omnomberry pies at 4s at the moment.

to make an omnomberry pie youd have to buy 1 omnomberry from the trade post, 1 butter from the TP, 1 lemon (karma, in bulk), 1 sugar;starch;flour;water each for 8c (10 for 80 copper or 8c a piece).
lets add it together:
omnomberry: 2s06c
butter: 48c
lemon: 0c (karma)
sugar: 8c
starch: 8c
flour: 8c
water: 8c
———————————————————
2s86c total to craft omnomberry pie
it sells for 4s00c right now, but you also have to consider the 15% tax soooo:
4s00c * (100 -15) / 100 = 3s40c money in your pocket, if you sell it for 4s00c

to sum up, it costs 2s86c to craft omnomberry pie, and you make 3s40 per pie, so that is 54 copper profit right there. now making one pie is kinda silly i know, but consider making a stack of pies. thats 250*54 copper, that is 1g35s00c profit. now if you do this every day, and with more then one profitable recipe, eventually you will get to 800g.

protip: look into google spreadsheets and gw2trade.com’s api system, mix both up and you might be able to keep track of ALL interesting recipes at once without having to spend hours calculating each day!

I wrote an app to do this for me. Realize that calculating the profit for selling more than one crafted item (e.g. Omnomberry pie) can be tricky. If you don’t do this right, you can even make a loss in the end.

The reason why it is tricky is because it depends on the availability of its ingredients being sold at certain prices. So how many Omnomberry pies can you make and sell at a profitable level depends also on how many of its ingredients you can buy at a cheap enough price.

agreed, that is why i only make 1 stack of tropical fruit mouse, but 12 stacks of mango pies. one sells a lot quicker then the other :P (guess which one, you can be wrong 3 times, but the first 2 don’t count)

i am well aware that my sheet 2.0 is only an individual frame of the constant tradepost movie, but it is never wrong by much (updates every 15 minutes, if googledocs want to work anyway)

Why crafting is so unpopular.

^^ I typically see this and faceplam … you’re inability to efficiently source your materials is not a reason to make it easier to get them.

For example .. you needed Cayenne peppers and you ran around for HOURS getting 2? Do you realize that you could have made the 9 silver they cost to buy off TP in a 15 minute round of Orr trash farming? The problem here isn’t that there is a lack of nodes dropping peppers ….

yup

also, there are plenty of recipes that make money even if you buy everything from the trade post. usually it goes like this:

i check my math sheet and decide what to craft this day
buy 1 or more stacks per mat required to make the crafting items (anything less is not fast enough money)
do dailies
get mats from the tp
teleport around to get the karma materials in bulk i need to make today’s recipes
go to cooking master and buy the flour/water/sugar/.. i need
craft
sell
repeat the previous, once each day, for a couple of months
buy legendary

i do agree though that the nodes should be more random.. let me explain.
every once in a while you get that gray vendor trash gathering mat right? in stead of that, why don’t it give a random mat based of a dynamic list of materials that are above the by arenanet projected price. lore wise it could be something like “oh you found a hidden cayenne pepper under these onions”. and it would balance the material prices better. also better for the farmers, cause they will be getting expensive materials even when farming lower level nodes!

You lost me at math sheet……

my math sheet is an google docs spreadsheet page, usually refered to as “The Sheet 2.0” as there was a previous version which became obsolete once i made 2.0, and it is now plotting its revenge.

regardless, its like excel and it uses the gw2trade.com’s api (which in turn uses gw2’s api of the tradepost) to input the prices of materials, like omnomberry and butter, and ofcourse omnomberry pie, and then it calculates howmuch profit i would make if i were to craft it. the same for all other level 80 recipes. right now its at 20% something.
it is very mathy, so i call it a math sheet!
it could also work for other programs such as excel.

Is gold to gems rate fair in gw2?

in Black Lion Trading Co

Posted by: Cyto.9401

As always, depends on who you ask.

Current rate shows that not as many people are buying gems and turning them to gold as there were in the early stages of the game. Might see a dip in price as X-mas season comes and goes with new players coming in and gem cards given as gifts. Or not…who knows.

Do you really think that the gem prices will ever go down?!?

Gems are ANet’s only source of income. The less players there are, the more gems for dollars ANet needs to sell. So you can safely bet that ANet will drive the gold price of gems will go up, else people won’t spend dollars.

The game depends on that price never comming down.

they have been fluctuating at there current price atm, all because people are buying the gems to get the rewards :P but i agree, if they don’t offer those rewards ALL the time, prices are going to go up.

Accountancy Waypoint at Rata Sum offers the same thing and crafting stations within arms length for all professions. No one hangs out in Rata Sum, so loading is fast, too.

Perhaps the instance from the jubilee is reopening?

i hang in rata sum, all day baby

Ebonhawke has all crafting stations way closer and you can use the npcs for the tp, your bank and your guild bank at the same time as they are so close together. The downside on it is its location at the edge of the map resulting in higher wp fees, if you dont use the portal in DR.

interesting… ima check in on this, i need the crafting stations close by aswell otherwise my methods wont work, but thanks for the tip!

its very possible, i have 800 gold all made with crafting and like 10 gold starting capital from leveling :p

Next season...

they didnt say mush about 2014 except for spvp, ladders and working twards a goal.

id like it if they stopped doing the character driven living story and in stead focused on time progression living story: aka zaitan is dead, so now we take back orr bit by bit..

big tip for this game → join a guild. it makes everything more fun, and you have a place to ask questions. since you are still leveling i suggest a social guild, but that’s just a suggestion, pick whichever you want :p.
im eu player so i dont know which server is best for you
elementalist is probably your class then, though dont be shy to try other things, it might just be you like explosions and then engineer is best for you! i never liked warrior before this game, now its my main
money making tip? okittenep telling this to people, but if you find the “unidentified dye” item, sell it on the tradepost, and just use the money to buy a color you want! another tip would be, vendor gray/white, salvage (basic kit) blue/green, and use a high tier salvage kit to salvage yellow, and if its orange, check which is worth more, the rune or the item and then salvage or sell accordingly.

i also like to add another small tip, if you complete a heart (it will make sense) it becomes a shop where you can buy lots of different things with karma (a currency you get for helping npcs out) sometimes even armor and weapons! always check :P

Crafting…not profitable….?

Okay, I guess you won’t be making mountains of gold with it, but you can still make some decent coin. Even if you don’t make money off of it, you can still save money by making all your own stuff.

….Especially since I managed to make 20g-40g this week from crafting alone >.>;

Legendary Dyes would be amazing. Weapon dying would be incredible.

I also like the Tomb Raider idea someone mentioned. You have a PvE utility skill (like Light of Deldrimor) that can open up randomly generated mini-dungeons in PvE zones with scaling boss fights for a treasure chest at the end. It would certainly introduce a little incentive to revisit zones after world completion. For that matter, they could do the same thing in WvW and it would create new focal points for opponents to fight each other over loot.

I know I’m dreaming with the next one, but:
Player housing, guild halls, and the home instance also have huge potential for customization. Let us design our own houses and create our own furnishings using the crafting disciplines. Let us design and furnish our own guild halls. Let us commission blueprints from players known for making cool designs. The player’s house and guild hall should also be part of the home instance. It could determine which guild hall to show based on which guild you’re repping when you enter the instance.

you might want to take a look at this game that is coming out called “everquest landmark” :-p

- max daily achievement points to 5 each day OR make a daily meta achievement for 5 points which requires 5 dailies which each give no points.

5?! I think 10-12 is a little more appropriate, considering most people can complete 5 in under 20min and I, being a casual, can get 8-10 without even thinking about it during normal play.

Either way this and many of your other points have nothing to do with the topic of horizontal progression. Your post was about changes you’d like to see in GW2. OP is asking about horizontal progression suggestions.

I agree with some of your points, though.

well i mainly want to limit the idea of dailies being the main part of your achievement points score, because that way only the ones that where there from the beginning have a chance of reaching the top.
i actually want a system that limits daily achievement points, and removes the limits on the repeatable achievements, and make those the primary source of achievement points for the achi hunters.
the repeat achievements would increase in numbers every time you complete them though, so to do the salvage repeat achievement the 100th time, you would have to salvage 1 million and more things. this would remove the limit of maximum achievement points that we have right now (count together all one time achievements, together with the repeatable achievements times the amount you get to repeat and get points for them, and then add the # of dailies since the launch of the daily system and you have the max possible points) and make the amount of achievement points potentially limitless (though millions of points would require insane amounts of time and money and dedication (maybe a extravagant goldsink?))

i agree that a lot of my points where not horizontal progression related :P but i keep this .txt file with all my issues with gw2 handy, and i just copypasted everything in here, hoping a dev would read it and maybe perhaps finally change 1 of the things on the list potentially. maybe? please? at least the dungeon leader bug? perhaps?

Psst! Hey you... let's get horizontal.

- id love they’d fix underwater combat in a way that makes it fun to do, and then add it to wvw or spvp or both :P (give all skills a underwater variety and remove underwater weapons)
- the next election would be better as a more European style democracy, with more then just 2 parties to choice from. i like the multi-votes-per-person system ONLY cause this is a game
- CHAIRS for the rp community.. they have been asking since forever, or at least crutches without back support to prevent some clipping issues.

but most of all
id want them to make dyes acc bound again, so i can look good on all my alts, without having to spend 1000 gold to unlock all dyes. also make dye achievements and titles like artist if you unlock 150 dyes

you might not agree with some things in the list and that’s great, cause that means you have the ability to have an opinion! however this is mine (opinion that is) and thus in my honest opinion these would all be great additions to the game.

thanks for reading!

What to spend karma on?

they reduced the amount of karma you get from dailies, but you get a lot of it if you do fractals 10 levels under your fractal level.

irregardless i spend my karma on the armor the hearts sell after i finish em with my alts. i also use it to buy the various materials in bulk to make money with cooking.

Request: Discussion w/devs about Underwater

underwater combat is a flop, but here is how to fix it:
-remove underwater weapons
-give every (weapon and utility and elite) skill in game a underwater variety, that acts the same as the regular skill but maybe in 3d, or slightly altered so its usefull underwater
-aquabreathers craftable by the various armor crafts, and give them the same stats as helms (or get rid of the aqua breathers stats all together and make it a skin slot)

if the above terms are met i believe underwater combat will be like all other combat in this game, unlike right now, cause now its a chore :P

also if these terms are met id love to see a complete underwater spvp map with a quagan theme and with capture bubbles in stead of circles! maybe even make a wvw underwater week and make the keeps look like those quagan houses you see in pve, and every entrance has a gate in it :P
