Unable to duo queue in ranked and unranked

Whenever I try to duo queue up in ranked/unranked I am getting an “Unable to connect to server” message OR the queue button simply does nothing. This has occurred today and yesterday several times. Yesterday it took me about 30 minutes of relogging and idling to fix the issue. Today I can’t seem to be able to do anything with this bug.

-for the next 10 seconds all attacks strike twice and also hit nearby foes

Thieves finally getting a 1200 ranged weapon would be nice but this is mostly a pve issue than a pvp issue. A trait in the crit strikes lineup that boosts pistol damage by 5% and increase range to 1200 would be sweet in pve. Ricochet was removed because it was buggy and it made shortbow trivial for AoE ranged damage.

Glass cannons generally suck in any competitive pvp game because players are able to take advantage of the fragility of the build. It works in pve because monsters are dumb (full zerker/vipers) but you can’t expect players not to curbstomp people playing stuff like zerker amulet assassins signet thief.

A blackjack and poker table that lets you gamble in game money. Also a 1v1 coin flip table having an exact 50% chance of win and lose. You can gamble on the coin flip.

Make these tables into items that people can carry around like.
-the tables are a rare drop or an item you can buy with pvp/wvw reward tokens
-you can set these tables down anywhere
-a maximum of 10 tables allowed in pve maps to prevent too many people from ruining map events by gambling

Add chess, omok, go, checkers, solitaire, etc.

-sword 2 should reach out to 1200
-reduce initiative of Larcenous Strike to 1
-slightly increase speed of the initial stun of pistol whip
-dagger 4 should inflict 2 seconds of poison and cripple longer (meant to be used against downed)
-dagger 5 should have initiative reduced to 5

This will be enough to make SD and SP viable.

Pulmonary Impact is overpowered

There a tons of thieves dueling without PI (using EA) and without acro all the time. They aren’t carry trait/traitlines for thieves. The main thing that carries thieves is bounding dodger or unhindered combatant because core thief is the worst core class right now.

I think it’s fine. Tyrian mastery points are easy enough to acquire and grinding for exp only takes a map completion and maybe a few fractals.

Jump staff 3 does not evade twice anymore.

PRE NERF
-use jump staff 3
-the jump swing is an evade
-the character stays still for 1/2 second
-the character evades backwards
-the second evade can be cancelled by using any action other than movement

POST NERF
-use jump staff 3
-the jump swing is an evade
-the second evade does not occur anymore

It looks like Anet saw this as a bug and decided to stealth nerf it. RIP infinite evade acro trick daredevil staff teef.

I’m not saying it’s a problem. I’m rather saying that wvw players are keeping gw2 afloat. Gw2 is difficult to financially manage without it having a monthly fee.

Elitism killed raids just like how elitism killed Heroes Ascent and GvG in GW1.
-you need to do raids to unlock the mastery track
-you need experience to join a pug
-to get experience, you need to raid
-you need to join a guild that will babysit you through a raid
-after doing this, you need to log on at the exact right time of the week and hope that they don’t kick you out of their 10 man because they don’t know you

Actually warrior banner elite is pretty good in wvw and some parts of pve. It was also meta on a shoutbow/hambow warrior pre-hot. Imo it’s the only really good resurrection elite.

Stronghold would have been better if designed to be an 8v8 map just like gvgs in Gw1. Honestly, Anet could have copy pasted Gw1 gvg map designs and it would have still been a good pvp format.

You’re not going to win a 1v2 unless your skill level is far beyond theirs. Just know that a 1v2 on a point that the opposing team holds is an advantage for you as long as you survive. Do jumping puzzles to stall the fight as much as possible.

Only 3 out of the 9 professions rely on condi damage for their meta pvp build. In my opinion, conditions are at a good spot right now. In all 3 game modes, condition damage seems equal to power. Pre-HoT, power was essentially the only way to play this game. I think the game is a lot more balanced now than it ever was before.

Ario that build is slightly wrong. Acro staff uses escapist’s absolution over pulmonary impact due to EA’s synergy with staff’s evade spam. The build also always uses air and fire on staff. Sigil of fire is essential for the staff to track foes in stealth. Also, dagger pistol is good for 1v1s but in arena fights, they are likely using shortbow instead. Dagger pistol only serves as a reset weapon set which is why some thieves opt to use pistol pistol to have a weapon set with a different option for offense. Impact strike is better than venom if you are going into an arena fight without using pulmonary impact. Venom is slightly better for 1v1s but without pulmonary impact, the advantage is almost negligible.

As for OP, acro trick daredevil thieves using staff are always open to attacks as long as you know when you hit them.
-At the end of vault (when they are coming down from vault)
Hit them here and it will count as an interrupt. The issue is that in the heat of a fight, it is difficult to tell if they are dodging or using vault. With daredevil runes, watch for a dodge followed by a vault. Thieves constantly do this to trigger DD runes’ 6th bonus and to hide the aftercast of dodge.

-After the swing of jump 3
Jump 3 delays the second action of staff 3 and enables the thief to evade twice with 4 initiative. The actual swing of jump 3 will be an evade but right after their swing they are open to an attack. This does not count as an interrupt as you are essentially hitting their aftercast.

-After the roll of staff 3
Again this is not an interrupt but this is a guaranteed hit.

-When the thief uses dodge, bandit’s defense to hide the aftercast of dodge, you can actually interrupt the cast of bandit’s defense to negate this commonly used combo
However, this is VERY DIFFICULT to hit and isn’t exactly a reliable way to hit a staff thief unless you practiced timing this. You have to hit them as they land their dodge to interrupt the cast of bandit’s defense.

A staff thief will constantly use dodge, steal or staff 2, steal. Knowing this, dodge when you see them dodge into a random direction. If you are lucky, you may be able to dodge their steal which translates into less evades for the staff thief. If you see them wind up their staff 2, dodge immediately to dodge the thief’s steal. For staff 2, steal to actually land all 3 hits, a thief has to wind up their staff 2 a bit which makes this combo telegraphed.

Watch out at 600 range as a thief will engage with staff 4 and use the time you are blinded to land in as many auto attacks as they can. If you are blinded, remove it immediately with condi cleanse or an attack.

Watch out for a thief’s staff auto number 3 as it will hit hard and reflect projectiles. A staff thief will occasionally stow weapons to save the third autoattack of staff to either hit you hard or reflect any projectiles you are using. A staff thief mainly inflicts damage not with evades but rather with staff autoattack when they are confident you won’t use anything dangerous on them.

If you are using a condition damage build, land a ton of condis on them and don’t attack them. Acro staff relies on EA to remove condis. Other than double shadowstep, they have no reliable way to remove conditions (sigil of agility only removes 1). Don’t give them an option to evade anything after landing a lot of conditions. This will work especially well if you are using a corrupt necromancer.

Jump onto places that can not be teleported onto and range the staff thief if you are forced into a 1v1 with them.

I mainly watch Gw2 twitch tournament streams to see how the meta changed and to change my build accordingly. Of course, I don’t run exactly what the top teams run all the time but I feel like the top teams adapt much faster than metabattle.

-Just use metabattle! It’s what they are running.
No the top players are almost never running what metabattle tells you is “meta”. Also, the EU and the NA meta is always slightly different.

-But they do cover the builds!
They go through the builds way too fast or they simply forget to cover the builds at all. For example, Jebro constantly fluffs up the stream with talk that doesn’t matter and forgets to go over the runes, sigils, and even the traits because he assumes that the viewers already know what the top players run. We don’t know what they run! Please cover them slower and please explain why you think they switched to X rune, X trait, X sigil compared to the last balance patch. If you don’t understand why, at least just SLOWLY cover the build for each player. Don’t rush into the matches until you properly cover the builds! Don’t just omit the builds because you covered their builds in their last match against a different team. It’s very likely that they switched their builds to counter the opposing team or to cover ground better in a specific map. In particular, Jebro never shows what sigils the players run and just assume that we either know what they run or we just don’t care. We care so just cover the builds better! Thanks.

I would prefer throw gunk to just have a larger AoE radius. The reason why it’s so weak is likely because Engies are supposed to hardcounter teefs. Their numerous revealing skills also supports this idea. Despite this, a good staff teef eventually beats a scrapper.

Armed Robber
The armed robber can be a far ranged attacker or a close ranged CC threat. They utilize shouts to control their opponent. This elite specialization gains an f2, f3, and f4 skill.

f1- Steal
f2- “DON’T MOVE!” Enemy is immobilized for 3 seconds. 20 Second cooldown. 600 Range.
f3- “PUT THE MONEY IN THE BAG!” Enemy is stunned for 2 seconds. 30 Second cooldown. 200 Range.
f4- Cheese it- Break stun and dash away from the enemy. 800 Units and 40 Second cooldown.

Rifle 1- Bang- A 1200 range auto attack that deals a random amount of damage to the enemy.
Stealth attack- Shoot and steal- Shoot the enemy (1200 range), teleport to them, and knock them down dealing mid range damage.
Rifle 2- Personal Lesson- Punch the enemy with your brass knuckles, can be chained 3 times
Rifle 3- Butt- Melee range attack that teleports you 1000 range backwards
Rifle 4- No Witnesses- Uses all your initiative to shoot your opponent once per initiative spent in rapid succession
Rifle 5- Panic- Can only be used when you have less than 3 initiative, stealth yourself for 5 seconds and gain 3 initiative- has a 10 second cooldown

Loud crashing noises -Self heal that grants quickness to you and your allies for 5 seconds
“Where’s the money?”- Inflicts fear and recharges your steal.
“I ain’t going to jail!”- Shoot yourself instantly putting you in the defeated state.
“This is a robbery!”- Pulse might, fury, and swiftness to you and allies around you and stun your opponents (600 range)
“Get in!” You and your allies enter the BMW you stole and cruise around.

The game’s 1v1 matchups are rock paper scissors, this doesn’t work.

No it’s mostly skill based even against hardcounters. I’ve seen hardcounters lose too many times spectating duels to say skill has nothing to do in 1v1s.

Necros are poor in 1v1 at the moment. With that said, spite curses reaper using wanderer’s amulet and krait runes with staff scepter dagger triple signet is likely overall the strongest necro 1v1 build right now.

The thief likely was not hacking and you really shouldn’t be losing to a dp thief in a 1v1. Yes, condi shatter mesmer has the advantage in a 1v1. Try to avoid them in 1v1 situations but go for them in team fights. You should have a disadvantage against a DH in 1v1. You really can’t do anything against meta druid in a 1v1 but you may be able to hold the point longer than a kiting druid. If the druid is bad, you MAY be able to kill them in a 1v1 by getting the mace f2 f1 into them before they get their astral force up. You may also be able to pressure them to death after they enter astral form as they will only have one reliable condi removal (signet of renewal) left on their bar for at least 15 seconds. Meta scrapper should beat you in a 1v1 assuming equal skill. Meta condi necro, invoc rev, and support tempest will lose to you. Yes, power warriors will have the advantage over you due to berserker stance+healing signet resistance uptime plus cleansing ire.

A build you may not see often is acro staff thief which will have a slight advantage over you in a 1v1. I suggest going into the custom arena’s dedicated 1v1 arenas and fighting against the other players there to get a sense of what you can and can not do.

After getting champion ritualist in season 3 and 4 to division 6, I would say if you are playing an Invocation power Revenant.

-Chronophantasma Shatter- DISADVANTAGE 20% chance to win
-Meditrapper- NEUTRAL 50% chance to win
-Bunker Druid- DISADVANTAGE 30% chance to win
-Power Shiro Invocation- NEUTRAL, ADVANTAGE 60% chance to win if you jump on them with Shiro
-Power Shiro Retribution- DISADVANTAGE- 40% chance to win
-Power Scrapper- NEUTRAL- 50% chance to win
-D/F Auramancer- ADVANTAGE- 80% chance to win if given enough time
-Corruptionmancer- ADVANTAGE- 60% chance to win IF you jump them, DISADVANTAGE 30% chance to win IF they jump and kite you around
-Macebow warrior- DISADVANTAGE- 30% chance to win
-D/p unhindered combatant thief- DISADVANTAGE- 40% chance to win

You’ll notice that Invocation rev has some bad matchups against a lot of the other meta comps which is why revs are usually placed in team fights instead of 1v1s. Revs are excellent cleavers and chasers. I still think revs are the best arena profession right now with all ESL teams playing one.

Yes ineptitude is a bad trait but the issue is that meta condi mesmer is already top tier as it is in arena pvp using master of fragmentation. Giving mesmers a stronger grandmaster condi trait would only overpower an already overpowered build.
