Your asking them to hand hold you though every day in effect. Your asking to be told something new is coming by some one every day of the game over and over even if its the same things. Heck the community over all cant stand to not have a post from a dev. with in the first 1hr of there post. There is something vastly wrong with the mind set on these forums.
Funniest comments on reddit regarding this topic:
“We’re like an insecure boyfriend, having to be reminded every week that our girlfriends still love us even if she can’t talk to us 24/7 because she’s busy at work.”
“Baby, we’re still good, right? Yeah? Then WHO’S THIS CHINA GUY I HEARD ABOUT??!! Am I not good enough for you anymore?!”
Hmm, I think you are greatly overestimating the demand for that kind of content.
Take a look at WoW for example. Their hardest content, the HM raid, only has 1500 guilds participating (most of them 10 man guilds). This is with their millions and millions of players.
The market just isn’t there for that kind of stuff. ANet is doing well not to put it in.
The right way to play is to ignore the forums and jump into game and do whatever you have fun doing.
The new Leaderboards now have a filter by Guild function. If you hover over the achievement points it shows the date they last earned a point.
This may not account for everyone as there may possibly be players that never get a point (can’t quite conceive how but) you can throw those players into a special rank and send them an ingame mail to advise you next time they log in and flush them out if you don’t hear from them.
(btw – our guild of 497 members with generally 80-100 online at any given time only has a handful that haven’t earned a point in over the last 2 weeks. 2 weeks was the longest since anyone has earned a point)
Great fun
There’s a reason it’s the fastest growing MMO ever made.
Extremely little grind in the game -unless you want a grind, then you can grind out a legendary or you can simply take the more leisure route and get it along the way since it doesn’t OP your stats.
And end up like WoW with 2 hour LFR queues? No thanks
Take those trinity training wheels off and have some fun~
I don’t rent games.
WTB a downvote button.
“When the reactor blew, the world’s fabric turned inside out. Some things will never be the same.”
Who can forget that visibly shaken asura telling us not to trust our own minds? I’m wondering if there is a tie-in with the Uncategorized Fractal….
Raving Asura: “(manic screaming)”
Raving Asura: “All of us! Abandoned! You aren’t real. You can’t be here.”
This is the story I want to see!
Fall of Abaddon is so 7 years ago.
Just remember it only takes about 30 people to turn a forums into a mess and that there are certain :ahem: vested parties that are less than thrilled with this game’s success.
I completely agree, OP.
I logged into a WoW trial account and it was so awful and ugly and stale and linear and BLECH.
Can’t believe ppl actually pay for that kitten.
I think undoing progress every month is a terrible idea. If you want to do the hearts again, simply start a new character.
Here’s a great little searchable database that lets you look up food items by level and buffs. Has drop down lists for the searches, just pick the buffs you want and it will give you a list of foods that have it.

Best MMO I’ve ever played. Massive improvements since launch, looking forward to more.
Indeed.
I believe the plan goes like this:
1) Increase server capacity
2) Remove PvE culling
3) Offer free trial weekend
4) Watch Youtube explode.
:D
I liked the Modern Pirate General song Captain Penzan does.
I could not have been more surprised and delighted than when after chasing the Captain throughout darn near of all Bloodtide Coast he burst into song. Thanks for reminding me
I am the very model of a modern pirate general,
I’ve information magical, mathematical and mineral.
I know the Queens of Kryta and can cite matters historical,
From Bloodstones to the dragon spawn in order categorical.
In fact, I write my washing bills in old Canthan cuneiform.
I’ll tell you every detail sewn on Caudecus’s uniform.
The skills and builds of warfare are essential to my strategy,
You’ll say a better pirate general has never sat-a-gee,
For when you know the habits of the Charr and the Elonians
When you can tell at sight a Kurzick from an Ascalonian,
You’ll know my martial knowledge, quite extensive and still myriad,
Myriad…myriad…myriad…ah!
Has only been updated for the Interregnum period!
But still in matters magical, mathematical, and mineral,
I am the very model of a modern pirate general!
Yes
With the all the improvements since launch and more to come on the 15th along with the massive amount of content they deliver so frequently, I have to say I am very impressed with this game.
There is a grind …..for legendary weapons. It’s intended.
People take what Mike O’Brien said out of context.
“Here’s what we believe: If someone wants to play for a thousand hours to get an item that is so rare that other players can’t realistically acquire it, that rare item should be differentiated by its visual appearance and rarity alone, not by being more powerful than everything else in the game. Otherwise, your MMO becomes all about grinding to get the best gear. We don’t make grindy games — we leave the grind to other MMOs.”
All other gear comes very easily in GW2 and you can play all content in blues and greens if you want.
Not a fan of the new animation, can we have it reverted please?
I will NEVER pay a fee just to log in a game again. GW2 has proven that you don’t need sub fees to maintain and grow a MMO, heck they are putting out more content than sub based games.
But..but..I need them for my alts. Seriously, I can deck out an alt really fast with these, I love them <3
It’s a bit on the shortsighted side to think just because you find no use for something that others don’t need them as well.
Big thumbs up to this post!
I’ve had more fun, more smiles, more great MMO experiences in this game than any other. Imaginative, creative content keeps pouring out the gate and I never even had to pay a sub fee. Spectacular!
This daughter of Ascalon will not pay a sub fee for ANY game. Those games are blatant ripoffs and not worth a 2nd look.
However, I gladly throw gems ANet’s way when
1) I want to show my support and approval for what they are doing with the game and
2) When it fits in my budget
MY choice, MY budget. It’s the only way to play games now

It’s funny because the gear grind here is worse than it is in WoW.
Ugh, nothing is worse than the grind in WoW. Raid for months and months hoping against hope for your item with a teensy tiny drop rate chance to drop, then when it finally does, you have to roll on it against all the trolls that want to shard it in front of you.
All this is before you can play the current content. Then 6 months later they drop a new raid and you have to do it all over again!
I enjoyed the dungeon
You should have seen it before they nerfed it
Kilrik, it’s actually unlocked on your achievement tab, just like HoM rewards.
Don’t panic, you just withdraw it on the character you want it on
Was wondering how long it would take lol…
ikr?
These people won’t be happy until they get a free legendary for logging in.
Then they’ll complain they didn’t get two.
Most GW2 boss encounters can’t hold a candle to WoW’s finer boss fights
Hahaha. As an ex-WoW hardcore raider, those “finer fights” boil down to gear checks with trinity training wheels. Tank takes aggro, healers play whackamole, Dps autopilot rotations and every now and then you stack or spread out and get out of the fire. Addons tell you what to do when and the fights are tuned so they cannot be completed with current gear thus giving the illusion of ‘progressing’.
Absolutely. Don’t know why anyone would pay a sub these days.
I know exactly how you feel.
I can no longer play MMOS that do not have:
1. A Buy-to-play model.
2. Up to date graphics. The fact that the world in the distance looks like concept art is mindblowing to me.
3. A massive world
4. Level sidekicking.
5. A ridicolously high quality, and quantity, of animations.
6. Upleveling in PvP as well as instant access to best in-slot gear.
7. Dynamic events.
8. A personal story.
9. Jumping puzzles.
10. A dye system for your gear.
11. Cross realm auction house.
12. Great underwater combat.
13. Armour sets of a size that you can actually imagine wearing.
I remember a certain game where the power of your character would depend on the size of your shoulderpads.
And where there would only be new models for head gear and shoulderpads, where the rest of the gear would be re-painted versions of gear that has been around for years, if not just having the “gear” being paint on the character’s body.
That’s a mighty fine list you’ve put together there sir, but I can add a couple more things
WvWvW – this is the epic week long battle we’ve been yearning for
Let’s me use in game gold for cash shop items
Active combat – I can cast while running
No server downtime for maintenance
Overflow system means no queues to play
Shared nodes
Dungeons that are actually challenging
Detailed/custom character creation
Waypoint travel
Flat leveling curve
Player rezzing
Dodging
Transfer costs – 1 price for all toons (can use ingame gold for that too!)
And finally – Mesmers!
As an addendum OP, you salvaged 145 ectos for 279 dust.
John “Balthazar” Smith, setting pants on fire since 2012.
I suggest reporting any player that is verbally abusing you. ArenaNet is extremely strict about that.
Just right click their name in chat or their portrait in the world.
wait less then 25 people wont trigger swords? so we wont have any idea if a keep is being attacked?
Will make it less zergy – more tactics needed, more scouts to watch different areas.
After 3 hours and many deaths, I finally dragged my poor naked broken bleeding self out of the Murderpit with a big kitteneating grin on my face.
I love that JP – Ty Anet for putting a cache achievement in there
Don’t watch the timers if they bother you. Roam the world and hope you run into one
I went to the Greyhoof Camp waypoint last night.
Seraph: Help! We need your help!
Me: Yes, I can see that! There’s a huge vine grappling with the Asuran waypoint here!
Seraph: What? No! There are centaurs making trouble, we need you to deal with them!
Seraph never could see the forest for the centuars.
I predict the Year of the Dragon.
Hit a home run with this one – ty!
Tip: If you use an Invisible bag or box in your inventory, the items in it will not be deposited to collectibles nor will they appear in vendor sell panes.
So late last night I log in and decide I’ll go visit Shadow Behemoth since I haven’t been there for awhile.
I jump into Queensdale and start gathering and getting some kills on my way over to the swamp and this low level unguilded player runs up next to me and stops. So I stop too but he doesn’t say anything.
I start running again and he runs along me again and stops again. This time I stop and say Hi. He says hi and I ask if he needs help with anything. He smiles and says he’s doing good so far.
I see the Champ Oakheart is up so I party with him and say, “Oakheart -let’s go.” He runs after me and as we top the hill there’s the oakheart with a handful of people, maybe 6 or 7 players battling him. The new player says wow.
I figure if he is wow’d by old Mr Oakheart he really needs to see Mr Shadow B.
So I tell him there’s a big event that happens near but we need to make sure the monastery is clear before it will start. I start running over, swinging by waypoints along the way so he gets them and people start chatting about Brenda being on the move in map chat. I tell him Brenda is tied to the monastery event.
We get there just as Brenda walks up and there’s about 20 players. Waves of centuars roll in, we kill them and then the portal events start. I figure to skip those and just tell him let’s go to the swamp now!
So we’re running through the swamp and just as we round the corner we see a good hundred players and Shadow Behemoth blows out of the ground. New player says WOW.
Made me smile. Can’t wait til he sees the dragons.
Asura 1: What does a sylvari think about?
Asura 2: I’d say no matter what subject, they are astonished and contemplative, wondering and wild.
Asura 1: I was going to make a bad salad joke, but now I don’t feel like it.
I just have to say something.
I never played Guild Wars 1, but a friend told me about Guild Wars 2 and I started playing in the beta. Within the first 20 minutes I knew this game was going to be special. And it is.
Having fallen in love with the world and the stories and the combat and the game modes, I’d considered picking up Guild Wars 1 to delve a bit deeper into the backstory, but if anything has convinced me to not play GW1, it’s the GW1 players that post on this forum. All this stuff about soul-crushingly hard content, 800 skills and builds and heroes and henchmen has been an absolute turn off to me. Not to mention the attitude and demeanor of this small minority of GW1 players with their continual bashing of this game and their sour, bitter and hateful treatment of anyone or anything to do with GW2 which is hands down the best MMO I’ve ever had the pleasure of playing.
I honestly wonder if you folks have ever played an MMO before because if you’ve seen the garbage that’s out there you would know that this gorgeous, fascinating and immensely interesting world the devs have created for us is one of a kind jewel in an ocean of mediocrity and to be treasured.
Seriously, if you like GW1 better, why don’t you play GW1 instead of posting here?

Under navigation there is a Random Page link. I hit that today for the first time and got this:
Hrothbeir’s Rest is a small iced hill with one tree at Lake Mourn in Hoelbrak. It is named after a norn, Hrothbeir, who chipped away a glacier that was threatening to crush Hoelbrak during its early years, creating Lake Mourn. It is said he didn’t rest day or night until the glacier was gone, and when his task was done he sat exhausted on the island.
I would love to have a Vision of the Mists and an Anomaly for my mesmer, but since there’s no ilvl requirement to do any of the content I don’t feel that pressure of “need”.
I can get it at my own pace which feels really good
