GW2 is just a casual grindy game with no proper endgame or challanges.
Pretty much. You forgot to mention the cash shop though, where you can buy skins that should’ve been obtainable in game, and cosplay in the LA chat room with your friends.
WoW is a hard-core grindy game with forceable endgame, no combat, no exploration and mounts etc. to purchase even-though it is pay to play.
Wow is less grindy then GW2 currently.
In Wow I gear a character in fully tiered current raid gear in less then half the time it would take me to craft one ascended set. Wow as it stands right now is the most casual friendly game on the market.
There is no way you can get top tier raid gear in WoW in less than 6 months. It often takes much longer than that and you can go whole tiers and never get your missing pieces.
In GW2 I can be in full rare quality gear in a day (comparable to LFR gear in WoW which can take months)
In GW2 I can be in full exotic gear in 3 days to a week (compared to months to never in WoW)
In GW2 I can be in full ascended gear in 2 months (compared to full heroic tier in your dreams in WoW)
My alts in GW2 are fully geared exotic instantly from all the tokens, badges, relics, karma, commendations, etc. from my main. In PvP I don’t even have to level and all gear is free.

I am. But I’m not really that focused on it.
I love the game and play it for fun, hate farming with a bloody passion and pretty scattered in my activities from sussing out dynamic events to fractals or pvp in the EB jump puzzle – just whatever I feel like playing that day and what my friends are up to.
I’m better than half way there. I’m in no mad rush, it will happen when it does and I’ll be thrilled when I get it but I’m not about to ruin my fun by trying to prove something. BTDT in another game and never again
It started with a double mesmer team that use to offer a taxi service to the top of the Obsidian Sanctum JP, way back when that was the only way to get siege blueprints
Too much to type out on a forum thread

Colin interviewed with the fine folk at MMORPG.com and gave some details about Guild Missions coming this month.
The griffon would. I know because I sent a mail to someone who thought a griffon was attacking him at first.
Hahaha, can you imagine if a number of players with the griffon carrier were to send a mail to an unsuspecting player all at the same time? New guild: Griffon Mail Bombers [EEK]
It was in the game for about a year and a half, you needed Wolf rank in PvP to get it. I got it back then and made a number of posts encouraging others to get it before it was removed since they did give us plenty of notice.
It was removed when they took out the PvP Mystic Forge earlier this year. Grouch said then on a Ready Up livestream that it would possibly come back as a Reward Track reward, I’m thinking we haven’t gone far enough into the Maguuma Jungle to see it. Maybe watch the livestream tomorrow to see if he discusses it again?
They are not attacking the games directly, they are attacking the internet backbone that these games are hosted on.
So I was watching Towelliee(a popular WOW streamer), and he said this:
“GW2 has the best PVP and combat out of all MMOs, If GW2 had Holy Trinity, with that pvp and dungeons ,it would be the No.1 MMO in the world” this is his quote, When I first heard of it, I thought it’s totally nuts and holy trinity is bad so gw2 don’t need it, but later when I think about. I actually think he is legit. GW2 might not be unique and a better game with holy trinity, but I really do think it would be more successful. Because as I know 90% of the people were turned down by no holy trinity, which is the only reason people play other mmo(WOW, SWTOR,etc.) instead of GW2, imagine if gw2 went with holy trinity, people often say XXX mmo is WOW killer, I think GW2 would actually kill WOW.
PS: all my opinion.I watched a bit of Towelliee’s stream the other day and honestly this is the last person that anyone should take advice from when it comes to GW2. He knows nothing about the game or depth of combat whatsoever, it was a constant stream of “I don’t know what’s going on”, “I don’t know what’s going on”, “I don’t know what just happened”, “What was that?”, “I don’t know what’s going on.”
Sounds like he can give excellent feedback on the effectiveness of the NPE.
I don’t think there are enough NPE’s in the world to teach someone that doesn’t want to learn. It was like watching someone that only knows how to play checkers that saw a bishop move diagonally in chess and said. “Oh, it’s the same thing!”
Then when he jumps into a chess match goes, “I don’t know what’s going on”, “I don’t know what’s going on”, “I don’t know what just happened”, “What was that?”, “I don’t know what’s going on”, “This game needs to restrict to diagonal moves only!!”
Yes, you could pay 2 gold every 2 weeks to keep the arena from being removed.
Fyi, the Explorer achievement is not the same as World Completion. The 174/175 you are looking at is for Explorer and has nothing to do with vistas, poi’s and such. Look at this link for any missing areas you need to uncover:

Hope that helps!

Weird. Here’s the cached version:
There’s an event in Iron Marches I believe where you free Drakehounds from cages and they help you scout out enemies hiding in trees.
If the hound uncovers a landmine and it blows up, the poor dear limps around holding one paw up and I just go awwwwwwww : ’ (
Not only do they put distinct music in each city/zone, they also give us holiday music. Not just one theme either, there are distinct songs of amazing quality for each holiday activity.

Another cool thing to try out:
If you want to see how the profession plays at 80, you can go to The Heart of the Mists where you will be boosted to 80. There you can try any combination of gear, sigils, amulets, traits and skills and practice on the target dummies.
You can access that from the crossed swords icon. There’s a brief tutorial when you first enter, but you can skip it. Vendors are on the right after the tutorial.
I’ve noticed they drop more frequently in lower level zones, however looking at gw2spidy demand is FAR exceeding supply with a dramatic dropoff in supply around Nov 5th through Nov 12th. However the volume of trades has steadily increased. It looks like the dyes are being listed and bought up immediately.
http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/20323
Now one thing to keep in mind is that they are used as a component in the legendary staff, The Bifrost (need 250 for Gift of Color).
With roughly 5000 supply at 15s each, that’s 750g. Could someone be manipulating the Unid Dye market? (Note: 5000 Unid Dyes would be enough to make only 20 Bifrost legendaries – TWENTY worldwide.
I know I’ve been hanging on to my dyes rather than listing them. I imagine many others are also.
ANet has steadily expanded server capacity since launch.
The queue times for WvW are biggest reason not to increase server caps any more than they already are. As you may be aware, only 2,000 players from each server may participate in WvW at any given time and some servers have very long queues, especially after WvW resets on Friday evening.
Just this last Sunday I queued up for WvW and it took 1 1/2hours to get in. Increasing server capacity would only compound this issue.
I understand your distress but many people have tried to get on Full servers and succeeded, just keep trying – generally very late night, very early morning are the best times to try to get in.
Wishing you Good luck!
I think mounts would be pretty awful in the open world and here is why I think that.
Right now, GW2 has THE best gaming community par none. This can be attributed to the core game design. We share nodes (people often call out on map chat alerting others to valuable nodes), we get rewarded commesurate to our contribution in killing monsters (no mob tagging) and we support each other with rezzing downed players.
Now imagine if mounts were introduced. A player is in a down state, arm outstretched, desperately trying to heal himself while fending off a mob. Currently, if you are running by that area you stop to help heal the player and help him kill the mob. If you were on a mount however, you would have to dismount, heal the player and help kill the mob, then remount to go on your way. People would be less likely to do it, it would introduce a “convenience over cooperation” element that would be detrimental to the culture of the game.
Look, I came from a game that had mounts and I had a period of adjustment when I first started playing. Then I started to understand the brilliance of this concept and now I fully embrace it.
No mounts, please.
This is the right call. I did get my chest but I don’t mind waiting to ensure it’s fair for everyone.
Thank you for giving us the heads up, Mark.
“great”——— 50min drum talk……
Here is an idea… stop kittening making the annoying instruments! and get pack to fixing the game.-
“Dear Anet Audio department, Please refocus your efforts towards game balance. Put those music composition degrees to good use!”
I guess that means they’d have to pull Mr. Diemer out of composing and recording music and send him back to school to learn how to use a computer
Rusts wins the worst color combinations.
When you draw back your bow, you close one eye to take aim.
If you shoot an arrow through a fire field, it catches fire and does more damage.
That’s an impressive accomplishment! I managed to make only 1 ambrite weapon – the shield (which I love to bits btw), I cannot imagine all the work you did to make the entire set.
Some nice suggestions for titles
Commander tags in WvW:
- Right now anyone can purchase a Commander tag for 100g and that’s fine, but an idea to consider for commander tags could be different colors to differentiate progression in WvW. Ideally it would be tied to WvW accomplishments and could also include input from other players on their server (other players could dedicate a small percentage of their Wxp to a particular commander for instance). Tags would start at the default purchasable blue, then progress through raritys: green>yellow>orange>pink>legendary. Each level of progression could give more functionality (larger group formation? map movement?) as well as visibility.
- Transferring to a different server would reset the tag to the default blue.
New Skills:
- As much as I like the idea of adding new skills as horizontal progression, I think care needs to be taken so the game doesn’t suffer from ability bloat, entry barriers to new players and of course balancing issues that arise with the addition of each ability.
Cosmetics:
- In addition to the other ideas that have been floated here I would like to propose that additional customization options like new hairstyles and face options could be unlocked through achievements rather than gem store purchases

Thank you for these topics, Chris. Don’t work too hard over your holiday!
I think something that some new players may miss on first glance is the achievement section on the Hero pane. This really is a content guide as it directs you to all the different things to do in the game, from the 3 different modes (PvE, PvP, WvW), to all the Living Story, activities, jumping puzzles, collections, etc.
The game has had 21 content patches this year alone, many of which have brought improvements to the core game as well as content.

From the Wiki~
To transfer to a different world, go to the character selection screen (using F12 or when you first logon) and select the desired world; you will be logged out while the game makes these changes, which might take 5-30 minutes. You can transfer once every seven days at a cost determined by the destination server population.
Medium: 500 gems
High: 1000 gems
Very High: 1800 gems
The transfer fee is only charged if you have characters on your account; in other words, if your account has no characters or you delete all existing characters first, you will be prompted to select a new home world after creating a new character, free of charge.
Well to be honest after doing the same events 100+ times (very easy to do) they do get very very boring.
There are over 3,000 events in the game. To do all the events 100 times you would have to have completed over 2,000 events per day since the game launched.
Okay, and which of those over 9000 events aren’t “Kill this” “Escort this” “Capture this point” “Collect this item” ?
You may as well boil it down to “Playing an MMO requires me to hit a button on my keyboard”. There are many varied stories throughout the game, check it out
Just go to the sites from the official page.

Anything else would be suspect.
I can’t bring myself to play it now even with no obligations…
Same here. An MMO subscription doesn’t cost much compared to most hobbies. I’d rather pay to play an MMO that respects your time than play a grindy f2p game.
Good thing GW2 is a non-grindy B2P game
Now i don’t know if this has been said before, if so someone Merge it please, but i didn’t find anything via the Search function.
In any case, if all 4 parts of the SAB are to be released, i think it might be a good idea to have armor skins that match the weapons and backpack?
I Think it might be cool, but that’s just my opinion^^
I was thinking the same thing! Would love to see armors to match the backpack
PTR’s don’t do anything. Just look at WoW’s recent fiasco. Expac on PTR for 6 months, it launches and a low level paladin solo’s the shiny new raid boss lol.
Yes, once a day on chest bonus.
Funnest MMO I’ve ever played. I’ve had more laughs in this game, more smiles, more walking away from a game session happy than any other MMO I’ve ever played.
Expansions are bad. Even Blizzard thinks so.

Content is good however. Looking forward to how the big projects will roll out

I spent the most delightful evening running the Scavenger’s Chasm jumping puzzle in Malchor’s Leap with a friend of mine tonight.
I was mesmerized by the otherworldly beauty, stone worn smooth by the waterfalls, the oubliette-like holes, the carvings on the rocks, listening to the desolate cries of birds and distant bombings as we worked our way through the intricate paths.
The game truly is a work of art. Thank-you.
No need to worry, they covered this yesterday on the livestream. Tomes will still continue to grant a level as they do now.
I cannot stress this enough – find others that enjoy the same types of things that you do and play with them
I’ve been playing MMOs since EverQuest came out. So EverQuest, Asheron’s Call, Anarchy Online, DAoC, EverQuest 2, SWG, Vanguard, Warhammer Online, World of Warcraft, Rift, SW:ToR, EVE etc. are just a few I’ve played over the years. I find GW 2 to be the most innovative, but I find little incentive to log in and play, and when I do play it feels like a ghost town or single player game. When I feel this way in other MMOs I generally queue up for either a dungeon or world event and am immediately surrounded by other players. This wasn’t even an option in GW2, and on the rare occasion I ran into a new player there was less encouragement to communicate as there is no requirement to form an actual organized group.
We had 80+ members on Mumble this evening coordinating our Tier 3 Guild Mission Bounty win.
Good stuff
Makes raids in other games look like child’s play.

Ellen Kiel is the people’s princess.
Because I live to slay internet dragons. rawr
Here is a good guide, it’s dynamic (tied to current TP prices)
http://www.gw2crafts.net/
You can get 10 levels per discipline.
I found it takes a little bit longer if you put bids on the TP for mats and components (maybe a couple hours?) but you can do it quite a bit cheaper than the guides.
The JP does not impact the PvP game.
You seem to be avoiding the fact that it DOES impact the PvP game. The plans. In the chest. Important stuff.
The fact that you dropping loot while you’re in there just makes you a tasty little target
If only I could read the article! Exciting news if that’s true. Raids… Yes..finally.
Here is the article (as mangled by Google translate!)
I discussed with Mike Zadorojny, ArenaNet Lead Content Designer for Guild Wars 2 this morning by phone. It was quite difficult given the quality of the phone call and that I could not properly record our conversation. Here is a summary of the topics that we discussed!
They try to create an innovative and creative MMORPG based on stories of living as Flame and Cold , The Secret of Southern Sun , The Fair Dragon and recently Pirates of Heaven . Mike’s role is to constantly create content for players and at a much higher than any other MMO on the market rate. This is a quality assurance Guild Wars 2 and the job is wonderfully orchestrated since the launch of the game through these events .
Their goal is to disseminate new game content every two weeks , which beat the game updates, enhancements, and content available to players.
Regarding the claims of the players on the permanent content , their teams take the subject seriously and are working to develop more content remain anchored in the game It’s a long work to prepare this content but that will come as soon as possible. New dungeons could be created as well as dynamic events, everything would be provided by a new event size. But I repeat, this is not for now.
The seasonal events such as Halloween and Yuletide game and will remain in their repeated annually content if the players have enjoyed. A new story could be added and the new dungeon content, activities, dynamic events, quests, and other equipment. Teams always work to provide new content, but in fact, repetitive seasonal events for components could be retained. So surely we will retry the belfry crazy for Halloween!
No new activities in game yet but maybe others will be added later for our greatest pleasure. Participate you from time to time in these activities? eg Launched barrels beside ’s Hoelbrak .
Ready to shoot? Fire!
I then asked if they had add PvE content which may include more than 5 players , such as raids in other MMOs. Mike confirmed that they are currently working on this content, but it will be different from what we know about other games approach “Guild Wars 2 touch” on this facet of the game They take their time to this experience is innovative, creative and really fun for the players.
To return to the events of the game, is currently between 40 and 70 people working on the events that we are offered every two weeks. This component is essential for the functioning of the game since it is thanks to system events they always incorporate more content (permanent or not) Guild Wars 2. These events support the addition of a particular component. Some teams are working on the current event and others are already preparing for the future event. I do not have more information on that course. They can quickly provide quality content for the players and the community in general remains active. They generally follow the events that players feel really involved in the game’s history
About guild halls , they will be implemented when it comes into play … The housing ! They want these halls are more than meeting places and RolePlay offering various exciting services.
I had some other issues but we have discussed and allocated 30 minutes went by very quickly. Additional information will arrive shortly from other fan sites that have or will also be able to discuss with Mike Zadorojny.
So I say to you very soon and have fun in the game!
More town outfits would be great
