Glad someone brought refreshments, it’s getting awfully HoT in here.

I decided last night not to do the personal story on my mesmer since I want to preserve the instance.

I love the peaceful garden party atmosphere with the gently falling confetti, the clink of glasses and servants offering drinks and appetizers, the lords and ladies in all their attire, the winding streets and alleys and all the little houses I can go in and especially the music. I even found the dragon slide!

It’s like my own personal little city far away from the constant fighting where I can invite up to 4 guests for an exclusive party. Thanks for this

What makes Kudzu cool is that it’s the only legendary with 3D footfall effects

Even if they were to turn guesting completely off, there would still be overflows.

There are more people on your server than can fit into one zone at a time.

You can try out end game builds by rolling a fresh toon and taking it into the Heart of the Mists where it’s leveled to 80 and you have access to all the gear and skills/traits, etc. Practice in a hot join or on the target dummy to get an idea of how it plays.

(for the record I play elementalist and it is SO much fun I haven’t found another profession that I like as much either)

The deep cave would stay intact on your old world. Only members that remain on the old world would be able to access it. (you cannot access it by guesting)

Some people that may not have a very comprehensive understanding of the game will tell you Warrior, but rest assured all classes are viable and some like thiefs and elementalists do more damage than warriors.

That link should give you an idea of what kind of playstyle you might like.

As an ex-hardcore raider from WoW I do not think WoW-type raids would work in GW2 and here’s why.

A raid (in WoW terms) is a tightly controlled instance that limits the number of players that can enter and is designed to allow players to progress through the instance by getting better gear with each boss kill. There’s no mystery, magic, difficulty or complexity beyond that.

It’s seen over and over, a guild gets finally gets down a boss and then they have it on farm thereafter. Why? Did they suddenly “get better” or unlock the secrets of the universe? No, they have better gear, that’s it. The whole thing can be worked out on a spreadsheet – the boss isn’t killed when the killing blow is dealt, that fight was decided with the previous boss kill when the tank got a shield so he would take less damage or the healer got a trinket so he could heal more or the dps got a set piece so that he could deal more damage.

It’s all about the gear and that’s why they won’t work in GW2.

applekwisp is correct for zones (only works if in overflow) but you can also join across servers for dungeons.

Judging by the size of my screenshot file there are entirely too many epic/humorous moments to pick just one.

From falling through a crack in the ice to discover an underwater zone to finding an underwater cave hidden behind some seaweed that housed a champion that one shot me to too many epic WvW battles to count.

But the final chapter of the personal story will always stand out for me. Me and a group of friends did it together, we all experienced it for the first time together. We must’ve stayed in there an hour afterwards taking screenshots and talking about it.

So many good times in this game. Best gaming experience I’ve ever had

Refreshing post, OP. Don’t get too excited for level 80 though, as the game doesn’t change too much. Being lv 80 just opens up all the content the game has to offer, but there’s no traditional “endgame” per se.

Same here. I raided for years in another game – completely bored to tears with it now and love the open-ended, non-linear, play-how-you-want-to-play world of GW2.

That would be a nightmare to balance.

Megaservers was implemented because of how dead the maps were in majority of the servers. If you werent in a tier 1-3 server, most maps looked dead.

I see no issue with ascended gear in WvW since there is nothing anywhere that indicates one server would have better access to ascended gear than any other.

Casual in that you don’t need to grind out gear for weeks or months before you can access content, sure. You can roll a new toon and be playing maxed out fully geared PvP 10 minutes later. Skill is the defining quality, not how much time you’ve invested.

PvE-wise it’s very accessible. You can access all level appropriate content immediately without needing to grind out weeks or months to gain ilvl or gearscore. Again, skill is the defining quality.

You can however spend a lifetime (hardcore) tweaking builds and gearsets or going for the most desirable skins and of course, improving your skills. As UnderdogSMO said, it’s easy to pick up play, difficult to master.

The only issue I see (besides culling of course) is that mesmers can’t use shortbows.

You can test stats, runes and sigils with different builds in the Heart of the Mists for free. Crossed sword icon upper left on your screen. There’s golem targets, profession targets and even a boss to try it on. Or you can jump in a hot join match to see how it plays live against other players.

You can also open the chests as many times as you have created cyphers. There’s no daily lockout for them.

The loot is really good too. Get 2 rares per chest + chance at exotic + buncha normal stuff. I got the Mini Clockwork Moa from one of them.

I wouldn’t call Glint’s lair a zerg fest. That was a pretty sweet dungeon we got last week.

Wearing a staff in a jumping puzzle and hitting 4 thinking to give a speed buff but instead rolling backwards and off the ledge leaving a trail of fire because it was in Fire Attunement and not Air.

Magic find only affects drops from monsters. Does not affect the mystic forge, chests, bags or nodes.

Your server WvW bonuses do affect mining and harvesting nodes in addition to extra gold from monsters. Mouse over the castle icon to see the percent (higher towards end of match as more points are earned).
