This game attempts to do endgame differently.
“…we’ve introduced game elements that you’d normally associate with “endgame” at every level and every possible opportunity.”
Whether you’re trying to argue for more classic endgame content or not, it could help to approach the topic from this direction, maybe addressing why you think this concept does or does not work, or how to make it work better.
However, there is still a really irritating problem with heartseeker—teleport—steal where you get rubber-banded back instead of hitting the target. This can be seen with a heartseeker—infiltrators signet—steal at 20 seconds into this person’s video:
This is a combo I use relatively often, and this problem did not happen before the feature patch.
A couple friends and I have been testing it and it seems to be a general issue with movement skills combined with double teleports. There are not a whole lot of examples of this that I know of, but it happens on thief with heartseeker and flanking strike, and it happens on guardian with leap—merciful—judges.
The combo can still work without rubber-banding by doing it very quickly (also demonstrated in the above video). For example, if you heartseeker and immediately (almost at the same time) use the signet and steal, then it will work, but if you wait even slightly into the heartseeker animation before teleporting, you rubber-band. This means you cannot time the double teleport to land the heartseeker and steal at the same time. Instead you are still at the start of your heartseeker animation when you hit the person with steal, which prevents you from bursting as efficiently.
Movement skills (such as heartseeker) combined with double teleport (such as infil. sig. + steal) rubber-band you back and make you a sad panda.
ignore the 1 candle
PS: Not my original art. I just added another candle ‘cause it’s so freakin’ adorable and needs to specifically apply to GW2’s second birthday!
PPS: Happy Birthday GW2! I hope at least a few of the Dev’s cupcakes had Quaggan hiding inside!
Same problem here. Wasted so much time. Very frustrated. Need to get away from this game for a bit. I don’t think I can take listening to Sux and Broham go through their dialogue again for at least a few days.
To clarify: I do not get the achievement after rescuing the seven NPCs. When I get near the lab at the end, I lose the achievement buff. I think I have tried everything mentioned above, but still no achievement.
no one was rank 80 in spvp till the April 15th patch which then quite a few people became lvl 80 at once.
I’m pretty sure this is the case.
Someone could maybe claim to have been the closest to 80 before the April 15th patch, but as far as I know, nobody was 80 before that patch, and many became 80 at the same time after that patch.

Head Shot (Thief’s pistol #4 skill) worked and was super easy. Although we didn’t get the kill cause I ditched the moa to chase the Skritt Burglar that popped up nearby so that I could get my last achievement.
But, yea, daze works, so here’s another part of this update that seems to be easy for a thief =D
if they reward the kittening title this way, I require they to refund all my money and time I spent on it.
Good to have some different viewpoints. Would you mind expanding on this? You don’t think the 60g and 60k glory is an equal and fair amount of “money and time” compared to 120g? I think 60k glory took at least as much time to obtain as 60g (especially considering the many lucrative gold making activities that have existed throughout the game), but, to back up my position, I may try and do some calculations to estimate the amounts of time that were needed.
Well, okay. Sorry for derailing the thread.
No problem. We all have issues we are passionate about, so it becomes common for threads to get derailed. I just want this to be as productive as possible =)
Should it be changed? Yes. No matter how you obtained it, it should count towards armor collection. We don’t know how they check progress towards the title though. Perhaps only when you buy the armor with gold.
How should it be changed? Maybe they should change it to recognising the skin in your wardrobe. I’ll also say that since this PvP Cultural for glory thing was months ago, it is a very minor feature and they are not likely to go over it even at our suggestions. Ask for help at support maybe?
Thanks for your input! Yea, from what I understand the achievement currently only progresses when you buy the armor with gold from the PvE cultural armor vendor. The sPvP vendor sold the T3 sets for 60g and 60k glory instead of just 120g like the PvE vendor, but it did not count towards the achievements.
I actually did contact support about this
To the Support Team,
Before April 15 update, I bought the Sylvari Tier 3 Medium Armor Box and the Asura Tier 3 Light Armor Box for 60 gold and 60,000 glory each from the Glory Rewards Vendor. I now have the skins in my wardrobe, but I do not have the credit towards the achievements Asuran Specialty Armors and Sylvari Specialty Armors. I really want to get these achievements, but I can’t figure out how to get credit without spending another 240 gold to buy something I already bought and already have the skins for. I’m really hoping there is some way to get this worked out through customer support, but if not, I hope it’s something that eventually gets fixed for everyone. I think there are a decent number of us who fell into this trap and would greatly appreciate it changed.
Thank you for your time,
but I think I may have not been clear enough and was misunderstood or possibly just disregarded, because they replied saying that they don’t give refunds for glory purchases for these items. Maybe I should try again and make clear that I don’t want a refund, I just want the achievement progress. I wonder if this is something they could/would do on a case by case basis through support.
Since I actually care about this issue, I’d like to try and keep this on topic and not have it turn into a general “ANet why?” thread. I appreciate the bumps, but I’d rather have people give their opinions on this specific topic by contributing their ideas of why it should/shouldn’t be changed and how it could be changed.
Why did you expect something to be given to pvp players?
Well, I’m hoping for it. I think they have been making good changes overall. This issue is probably minor, but I’m hoping it’s also easy enough to fix. Then again maybe I’m the only one who was silly enough to buy those PvP cultural armors, and this will never get fixed.
What you should know is that even if you decided you want to do this and spam join a megaserver map, it will not help you. Recently we implemented a system that will throttle and prevent a player from sending too many “join map” requests in short sucession. While this is not a solution to help players join full maps, it does somewhat even the playing field for multiple players attempting to join a full map.
I think some people still feel that it helps because they wouldn’t have to actively click every three seconds to attempt joining a map for possibly an hour or longer.
I do agree that the throttle helped even the playing field (even though, at first, many were unaware of this and were still spamming nonstop for long periods of time not realizing they were actually preventing themselves from getting in and getting carpal tunnel syndrome at the same time). However, I really hope that a queue system is being seriously considered, because I think that would really even the playing field and save many of us a lot of unwanted, painful monotony and frustration.
Is it fair that PvP cultural armor did not count towards the achievements/title? I spent a bunch of glory and gold getting two T3 sets from that Glory Rewards Vendor, and now I have the skins unlocked in the wardrobe but not the progress towards the achievement. Maybe I would be more alright with it if all I had spent was glory, but honestly I think even the PvP cultural armor that people crafted with PvP mats should count towards the achievement.
Should this be changed, or is it fine how it is now without the armor counting towards the achievement? How should it be fixed, or why should it not be fixed?
I think people put just as much work (if not more) into getting the PvP versions as people who got the PvE versions, so they should count towards the achievement. Maybe the achievement could be tied to the skins unlocked in your wardrobe as apposed to the equipment being soulbound upon purchase. Of course, I don’t know exactly how the system/programming works in this respect, so maybe this would be very difficult to do.
PS: This seemed like the most appropriate subforum to post in.
Please read the posts first before you make false assumptions. No where is it mentioned that all of the people in this thread who did not get their rewards transferred from EU to NA to get 500 tickets for Season 2? Where did you read that, are you sure you posted in the right thread?
I have clearly mentioned that completed Season 2 on the server which has been my home for last 16 months.
Sorry, I should have been more clear. You would not be part of the category of people I’m thinking of. I did read most of the posts, and you’re not the only one in here experiencing this problem. As I read many of the other posts, I started to wonder if people had transferred for the reasons I mentioned. But as I stated at the end of my post, I’m giving you all the benefit of the doubt because 1) I know not everyone was trying to exploit the system, and 2) I don’t even know if it would have been exploitable in the way I’m thinking. I wasn’t trying to be sarcastic in that sentiment, and I really hope it gets worked out for everyone.
I still think some people may have tried transferring just for the reward, but I should have been more clear and sensitive to an issue that must be extremely frustrating.
Just curious, why did you all transfer to NA for the tournament? I keep thinking maybe you guys waited until it was almost over and transferred once it was obvious which server was going to win and get 500 tickets. Since it was a transfer from EU to NA, it didn’t matter how short of a time you spent on that NA server cause it was the only NA server you spent time on, so your reward was linked to it. Then you transfer back to EU right after. If that’s the case, you don’t deserve a reward at all, which seems to be what you’ve gotten. But I’ll give you all the benefit of the doubt and assume this is not the case. Good luck getting your rewards.
Edit: sorry, to clarify:

I am now having the same issue. Either I get to the loading screen and DC, or I get into the game and DC within 1-60 seconds with the following error:
“The game client lost its connection to the server. Please wait a few minutes before restarting the client and trying again. (Code=7:11:3:191:101)”
I’ve actually been having this problem periodically since the April 15th update, but today seems to be even worse.
I think I’m having the same exact issue you described. Sometimes I can play without a problem for hours, but the rest of the time I can’t seem to stay connected. When I try to log in I make it all the way to the loading screen for a map, but it stays on that loading screen for a few minutes then disconnects. If I do manage to get into a map, as soon as I move in any direction I get crippling lag and am disconnected.
Just as you said, everything else is fine for me (other games, vent, streaming videos, etc).
I was also gone right after the update up until a few days ago, so I’m not sure if it could be related to the megaservers.
EDIT: turns out it may have been a problem on my end and was showing up in some other places, but we’ll see. I’ll edit this again if the problem comes back.

I found Funk through the TC forums. I wanted to join a guild for WvW, but I didn’t want to be in a huge blob guild or a super serious tryhard guild (I’m a closet tryhardatard). These guys and gals are pretty funkin fun to run with. Very good combination of tryhardatardiness, trolling, fun chatting, and warm friendliness.
Where is it?!
Edit: NICE! Good catch, thanks!
So the Commando must be there somewhere too…
(edited by NiftyNags.7946)
Why did these get removed from the game???
“Here, have this sPvP exclusive skin.”
“Oh, but we gotta take away the Masquerade and Commando skins, kthxbai.”
Seriously, why? Was it because of some kind of limitation with the new system? Why couldn’t they have been put into a reward track? At least do something with them instead of just deleting them. Maybe I just don’t understand something.
Other than that, super happy.
Masquerade changed to “Tribal”
Looks like Commando changed to “Marauder”
Also, as an aside, my friend just showed me his armor from a personal story reward that has the same skin as the PvP Commando (Marauder) skin. Wiki says the PvP Commando and Masquerade armors are exclusive to PvP, but now I’m wondering if they ever really were…?
(edited by NiftyNags.7946)
I wonder what would happen if we saved an Armor Box without opening it. Maybe it would completely vanish, and we wouldn’t even get the skin. Or maybe if we open it after the patch, it’ll give us gear we can soulbind toward the achievement…
I think there’s a number in the top left of your inventory that is giving you away…
Are there or have there been any other problems similar to this one? I’m trying to think of similar issues that might give us an idea of how we can expect this one to be treated.
That sounds reasonable. I also noticed that Evan said:
It is possible to make the achievement use skins instead, but there is no plan for it at this very second.
So maybe they’ll look into it in the not-too-distant future.
Heh, I was latching my hope onto the same exact thing, but he also didn’t say that they feel it should count towards the achievement, so they might not have a plan for it because they have some reason why they don’t want it counting, although I can’t imagine what that would be.
My guess is that it’s just low priority to change this achievement, but I think there are enough of us getting the short end of the stick here that maybe they will change it within a reasonable amount of time.
As it currently stands, the achievement will only progress when soul-binding the actual armor pieces bought from the vendors and not by applying it’s skin. It is possible to make the achievement use skins instead, but there is no plan for it at this very second.
Thanks for the reply, Evan! We really appreciate it!
Well, there we have it! Although I don’t know how much influence the PvP/balance team would have over this, I hope it eventually gets changed to include the cultural armor bought through PvP. I think I have enough hope to buy one or maybe two of the sets but not going to risk any more than that.
Thanks again Evan. Been frustrated with this question for a while. You made my day!
(Even though I am disappointed that it won’t count =P)
Read the emporer title: it says that the pieces must be soul bound.
That means that the pvp skins wolnt contribute to the title unless the title is changed, and it probably wolnt be.
It may or may not count towards the achievement depending on how the gear is put into the wardrobe, how skins are applied to armor, etc. Most importantly it depends on what they intend PvP cultural armor to count as. I would assume that the PvP version counts toward the achievement because, to me, it seems totally unfair for it not to, but I don’t feel like making such an expensive assumption.
I really think we need Dev clarification to know what their intentions are with this armor.
Based on the news posts and Dev responses, I would say yes, the equipped underwater weapons will be added to the wardrobe.
Here’s one little quote I found:
What happens to the skins already equipped in sPvP? Should I unequip before the patch or will they safely transfer over as well?
You do not need to unequip or move anything.
bump, need Dev clarification
Yes please. We can try and guess, but Dev clarification would be great if possible =)
Maybe this is something outside of the PvP team’s control/knowledge? Maybe this situation was just overlooked entirely?
I would sell 14 of my 15 characters into slavery for a Bobble Head Tonic.
And I know everyone’s with me on this ‘cause they’re all nodding their heads in excitement.
Dev clarification would be nice!
This would most definitely be nice!
I don’t want to waste 120-180 gold and 120,000-180,000 glory for something that doesn’t make me an emperor!
That’s what I would hope, but if the PvP armor just becomes a skin in the wardrobe, applying that skin to armor might not count because we currently have to soulbind the actual armor piece.
I guess it’s better to ask if the PvP armor is intended to progress the achievement, then if it doesn’t right after the patch, it would at least be something that is eventually fixed.
Will PvP cultural armor have the capability of counting towards the emperor title after the April 15th update? Will it ever have this capability? If not, why?
Sorry if this isn’t the most important of issues at the moment, but there are some of us who would really like to know before we go off and spend a ton of gold and glory on skins and end up having to pay for them all over again if they don’t count towards the Fashion achievements. I take that back. Most important issue ever. Dat Emperor.

I’d really like to know if the new glory vendor is going to disappear.
I want to buy the cultural armor, but I’d rather wait till after the update, unless of course the npc is going to poof with the update.
Yea, it also seems to not be updating the data for me.
Yea, based on that last ready up, I’m even less confident about the pvp cultural armor counting towards the achievement.
My hope now is that the glory vendor sticks around well past the update so I can find out if it counts before buying it.
Anyone know if the glory vendor is staying after the update? I don’t think they said they were taking him out yet, but I’m not sure.
I have this same question and it’s driving me crazy xD
From what I understand, it is true that our pvp armor is going to become usable in pve. But whether or not this cultural armor will count towards the achievement seems questionable. I have hope it will because the achievement requires that we soulbind the armor, so in pvp we can’t have it count yet (because we can’t soulbind it), but I guess we don’t know exactly how they will treat the armor, so maybe we’ll get gypped.
I really want to use my glory to cut the gold cost in half for this title, but I’m still hesitant. Hopefully this situation is clarified before the vendor disappears.
Oooh that makes perfect sense xD
What does this mean when the announcer says this in an spvp match?
I pvp a decent amount, but I never thought about what this phrase meant, or really even payed it any attention until a friend pointed it out. I’m a little embarrassed that I don’t already know by know, but I couldn’t find an answer with google searches, so maybe this is something not many people know.
Maybe I’m wrong, but it doesn’t seem like solo queue is giving 3x the rank points. More like 1.5x?
EDIT: Oops, I guess it’s just for wins, and just for the bonus chest. 3×150 = 450
(edited by NiftyNags.7946)
This is the number one issue that makes me not want to play spvp right now. Even though I sometimes get a little star struck getting matched up against top players, in the long run, it’s really not fun being on a team of mid rank players and going against a team of rank 50-60+.
This happens way too often, and I just recently had the most disgusting match up yet (wish I screen capped it). Enemy team: Caed, Cruuk, Gari Gari, Avolition, Venus.
I know Cruuk is at least rank 60, I think Caed is almost 60, Gari Gari is 64, and I think the other 2 were over 50. And ALL of them are top players — all of them are top 100 on the NA leaderboards for solo queue except venus who is top 200.
Our team: as far as I could tell/remember, we were all rank 30-40. A couple of us were maybe top 1000 on the leaderboards.
Again, getting matched up against and destroyed by much more experienced and higher ranked players happens to me pretty often. This was just the first time I happened to recognize so many of them as famous top players.
The only good part is being able to say I dropped and stomped Caed… one time =P
But that doesn’t help much with me not wanting to play because of this matchmaking problem.
Solution? I don’t know what it would involve on the technical side, but if there are so few people playing that the game has to match up lower ranked players with high ranked players, it would at least make it bearable if we were more evenly split up on the teams instead of facing such ridiculously stacked teams. Is it really that difficult to make it so that 2 of those rank 60+ players got switched to the other team? I don’t know, maybe it is.

I know many people dislike suffering, but after reaching my goal of ten Storm Wizard tokens, I’m curious how many tokens other people have gotten and curious as to who is the SAB master of pain and punishment!
PS: If a thread like this already exists, sorry, I didn’t find it.
I think maybe this is one of the main reasons why the numbers are lower than last time — why they may have dropped off more quickly. Being able to very easily farm for skill points and obsidian shards is probably what drew a lot of people in and kept those numbers high throughout.
This time around, the only thing I can think of farming are the skins — the trib skins — and I think there are only a handful of us that enjoy pain and suffering enough to farm those ;P
Other than that, I really enjoyed the increased difficulty, though I can understand if some people consider it to be too much. And for those of you claiming the longer zones are a big problem, yes, it’s true that this makes it more difficult, but I think it’s not as bad as people make it out to be, because even if you end up not having time to finish a zone on your first attempt, your second or third will be muuuch faster. For example, it took me 3+ hours to finish 1-1 trib mode on my first attempt with a group, but on my second time through I did it in 20 minutes.
Thanks for all the hard work Josh! And glad you’re still allowed to make some posts!
I’ve had it port me back out instantly as well, but all the times it has happened to me I was only hitting the interact key once. I’m pretty sure there is already a delay preventing you from hopping out right after going in, so maybe we are experiencing the same bug, but you just happen to be hitting the interact key more than once.
I would also like to know, but my guess is that this is unintentional, and they probably will not comment on it until it is fixed. I have a bunch of stuff that I’ve been saving to craft food for profit, and now that the price is decent, I’m wondering if I should do it on my alt for some extra levels, or if I should just hold off completely.
I had the same problem with zone 2. There are 3 in that zone that you are supposed to get (looks like the underground one that requires jumping on roots is not required), and the first 2 shops counted for me, but the third one did not. After they patched (“Fixed a bug that prevented the Tough Customer achievement from being awarded”), I went through again and that third shop in zone 2 counted. I’m now done with zone 2 and at 5/11 instead of 4/11.

I’ve been trying to communicate this on the forums as much as possible.
Yes, I think it was a couple of your posts that I remembered reading. But when I finally beat the zone after more than 2 hours, I wasn’t thinking of much else other than “yippee!” My own fault xD
I guess it just seems weird that we can even complete it w/o getting the achievement. It’s not like someone can join at the end in trib mode, and you need everyone at each checkpoint. I’m guessing it’s a measure left over from normal mode, but I don’t really know.
I’m just gonna take it as a punishment for not waiting to do the zone with my buddies so we could laugh at each other’s failures!
Posted by: NiftyNags.7946
Uuuuugh, just spent 2 and a half hours soloing W1Z2 trib mode, cursing the name “Josh Foreman” (in a good way ;P), and when I finally finish the boss, I’m feeling really accomplished and happy, so I start hopping around the map while the timer runs out. Then, with 3 seconds left, I remember some posts mentioning that you have to be standing next to the chest to get the achievement. I was too far, of course, and it was too late, so no achievement for me.
I had a raging fun time, but that was a huge disappointment sharply cutting my glee short. I don’t know if this is intended to prevent some kind of exploit, or if it can be changed/fixed, but that definitely sucks. Not a fun way to end the night and go to bed. My pillow will soak up many a tear tonight.
I’ll probably end up running the zone again (and much faster this time), but it would be really nice for people doing trib mode to not miss the achievement just because they didn’t stay next to the chest at the end.

Well I don’t expect anyone to read this whole thread at this point
I haven’t read this whole thread, but I’ve read every post you’ve made in it as well as all your posts for the last week or so! I have to say, I would refresh the dev tracker page today after a couple hours of not checking and almost be overwhelmed with all your posts you’d made since I last checked. You’re awesome!
Also SAB is awesome! Haven’t done W2 yet because I jumped straight into W1Z1 tribulation mode with a few friends. It was the most laughing/screaming I’ve ever done in GW2 — even more so than last time SAB came out. Thanks for the fun times! Can’t wait to do the rest of it!
