Lol these troll threads are getting a bit out of hand. Please nerf burst, please get rid of WvW food, please nerf stab even more..
You know nothing man. There was a thread a veery long time ago (over an year) with a suggestion that you could lose maximum of 30% of your hp per second (even if 20+ people are bombing you) “to counter burst and allow newer players better play experience”.
I haven’t watched trailers for the new map until just now – after seeing this thread.
I did now. I think I won’t miss on anything by not buying the expansion.
Might I inquire as to why all of you that complain about the choice didn’t apply for the position yourselves? Since clearly you all seems to feel that you are much more qualified for the position it would only make sense for ArenaNet to chose you instead, right?
My guess would be:
1. Most of us check only this forum and the updates, so we didn’t even know this thing existed.
2. Most of us have at least 2-3 infractions for mentioning cheats/hacks/matchup threads/GvG. Heck I even once got infracted for… I don’t remember already, something “sexual”, because I posted “Aww, you got d/p-ed by thieves?” in a Dagger/Pistol whine thread.
3. Now to the main point – most of us just don’t believe this will result in anything, than just another “let’s pretend we communicate” figurehead.
I think no matter who the WvW “specialist” was – he’d get the same treatment. Well of course if he had remarkable WvW history(lots of game hours – little achievment points, many wvw ranks/kills/etc) he’d get our respect, but still get the same “yearite, let’s communicate, lol” treatment.
I have nothing against the guy. But I don’t expect anything from him. For me he is just another “scarecrow” in the long list of devs/community managers that came and went here. I am so disillusioned the only thing that can make me change my view point is… actual results. I think most of us old timers are way past the “heh, they will fet fooled by empty words again” state.
So please, enlighten me, I’ve been put of the loop I guess – what is the point of this Forum Specialist thing?
As far as history goes for the WvW and Dev communication, it’s very difficult to believe that somehow suddenly Arena Net has realized that talking to the player base is actually fundamentally important – listening to feedback and suggestions and implementing them into the game.
As far as I can tell, and by all means, prove me wrong, I’ll be more than happy – this is just another way for arena net to avoid talking to the player base (WvW) directly and instead they’re using proxy people to create an illusion that they’re actually care, which we all know isn’t the case.
I think you might be on to something….

You might have a better chance getting answer on a PM if that player still plays.
I hope, for the OP’s sake, this is a joke thread.
There was a thread with calculations and theorycrafting a long time ago, but I won’t bother trying to find it. Basically the end line was – full ascended gear is 13-15% better than full exotic. In most team/zerg fights however, this is unnoticeable. And as most said – to you run in a 1v1 situation, where the enemy beats you not because of his skill/build, but because of his gear is extremely rare.
If you want to duel though, I’d suggest starting to work on ascended. As a very active OS dueler myself, I have had situations where it actually mattered if I wear ascended, or not.
Those trained sharks around the Green keep on EB and Bay are more friendly than the Drakes and Skales.
Well, they are trained after all… and probably colour blind.
Dominator and Yakslapper are achievable. I know people who have gotten them.
I’m just curious- do you know about how much time they spent on Yakslapper (one million dolyaks)?
Yeah, it was when she was in T1 and had gotten really bored of the game so decided to go achievement hunting. She hopped on her thief and literally the only thing she did for about 6 months was obsessively kill yaks. If I recall she said she would never do it again.
I call a bull and a kitten together on this. Simple math: if you kill 10 yaks/5m, it will take you 6 months non-stop 24/7h play and you will only be at 518k. So you need 20yaks/5m 24/7 for 6 months to get this. Even if you are super determined you still need to sleep/eat and you can’t always rely on the camps not to be taken/yaks not to be killed before you reach them.
I have stopped playing GW2 for quite a while… and I will continue so and reserve my judgement. I haven’t even heard about this… expansion? Nor I cared, really. When it comes out – I will watch some reviews, read some forums, even wait a month maybe… then decide what to do. The rose glasses are long gone.
My biggest issue with your “double the camp cap time” suggestion is: right now – if you solo cap – it takes you more or less 20s, after you have cleared the npcs. However it takes only several seconds the bigger the group capping it is. So basically your suggestion directly contradicts to your “I think it might make havoc groups even more of a valuable asset than they already are.” statement.
However, I’d love it if the cap time on a camp was constant 20s, no matter if it’s 1, or 50 people capping it. Same for the other objectives too.

So, on to my reply, which pretty much echoes many of the others here:
This is a game, my aim is to have fun, while I try to be respectful and not ruin the game for others. However, I do it “my way”. If they want something different from me and I don’t like what they want – well tough luck, they aren’t paying me, so they have no authority over me.
Oh btw guys, did you notice – it’s the same dude from the “valid reason not to be on voice comms?” topic and the tone of this one is quite similar imo…
I don’t know if I should admit this….
>.>
I am a necro main! There, I said it!
I switched from main thief to condi warrior in wvw…
-snip-
I am not accusing servers – they can’t control these guys. I just said I noticed the 1st topic about invis&invul cheaters that far back. I am accusing someone else for not doing their job though. I mean – 10+ months and this kitten is still happening? Oh, come on.
Ah, the good ol’ invis+invul cheat, whose 1st users were, ironically, on FSP, around mid/end February. Before this thread magically disappears – anyone knows if they actually got banned, transferred, or quit from boredom?
Ahh, weather effects. The most commonly known, single, fastest way, to increase lag exponentially, in every game out their. Sure, who doesn’t want more of that?
Touché.
Ideas I think they might be considering for WvW:
1 – Removing the minimap.
2 – Removing the world map.
3 – Removing team and map chat.
And then they will state some guilds requested this, and with these changes now parties and guilds will be much more important and that’s exactly what we want.
It’s very situational man. This depends a lot on your tier and your own playstyle. For big fights, the word is “GWEN” (guardian, warrior, ele, necro). For small group/solo roaming – everything can work, although high mobility/stealth classes are much better.
I suggest you go to PvP and just try out different professions and different weapon sets (I mean – just on the training npcs there, since you will be 80). When you are like: “I want to play this profession, with this weapon set(s).”, then we can give much better input.
Don’t like taking keeps? Dislike walls and doors? sPvP is that way——->
Like taking Keeps? Like walls and doors? Dislike fights? EOTM is that way —-—>
So, I had quit the game some time around the colored tag fiasko. I knew what no white swords would do with my T7 server, since I spent most of my time patroling/defending, while I was playing. Just to be sure I was right and not speaking out of my kitten , I patched the game and played straight since the reset. Well. I was right. It sucks – it has become a PvE ninja train with an occasional fight here and there when zergs spot each-other.
Hello, I am Oscuro of Kaineng! I personally like no white swords to an extent. First, I believe it makes hav icing and soloing keeps MUCH easier because no one knows what you are doing until it is too late.
I read this as: “Hello, I like to PvE, so I like the change a lot. <3”
Furthermore, I request that a dev start a thread here and start asking for official feedback. We’ve got half a dozen threads on this just on the first page and not a single red post. How can you find out if your test is a success if you don’t interact with us in the same way that Michael Henninger, the Game Support Lead did, just a few weeks back? That’s the kind of interaction and communication we need, and Anet needs to hire more people like him and seriously give that guy a friggin raise.
Pfff, feedback, interaction and communication. Haven’t you learned already – they have “metrics” to find out is the test successful or not.
Might aswell reconsider this dramatic failure asap to keep some of your players and yes even it is wvw, people buying gems to get your outfits and whatnot.
A red post after 4 weeks be liek:
“The WvW thing was a great success. More people now play PvP. That is why we decided to keep this as a permanent feature. Next “test” will be 6 months long. We will try how WvW will feel without a world map and minimap and no team/map chat. Have fun, lol."
I think 10+ months ago (unsure as i cba to dig around forum manualy and search still broken after forum reorganisation) Devon Arrowcarter said those achievments are a bit out of touch and they will be looking to change it in the future. (2018?)
It was 11 months ago… 4 months ago. How do I remember so precisely? Well, take note of the date of the sticky “don’t necropost!”. This was one of the most popular threads to necro and one of the first threads to fall – with a full on “yeah, these are unrealistic, we are looking into them” Devon statement.
I see what you did here
Hmm I think the Hacker profession might provide what you need, you just need a good build. Beware though – this profession starts with a 0,0001% chance of “hardcore” death to all your characters. Also – this chance increases by 0,0001% every 500 ingame hours.
An update on this. The team is actively working towards a solution for the lag issue many of you have experienced. They have already tried a few potential fixes that did not yield the expected results and are continuing to root out potential causes.
Suffice to say, they aren’t ignoring this problem.
Reading this, then checking the OP’s post date made me almost pass out from laughing.
Arantheal, ignore the haters. If you find an exploit we want to hear about it.
We (ANet) recently caused some confusion about the exploites@arena.net address but it is indeed the place you’ll want to send the info.
Aww, “hater” – I am just speaking from experience, both with mails to the customer support and this. I had him on my block list so I could see when he was logged on – for months after my reports/emails.
By the way, I am keeping tabs on the other thread and I appreciate your involvement – both the ingame and forum one. Your replies have been like rays of hope, thanks for that.
In soviet GW2, exploits report you.
No, really – emailing to that adress is like writing the exploiters’ names on a piece of paper and throwing it out of the window. And if you try posting proofs on the forums, you get infracted for “naming and shaming”.
Not just complaining, I seriously would like to know.
Both. Because I kept the chronology – the complaints about hacks, videos included, started February. They have had plenty of time to take measures. Instead all they do is delete posts, asks for emails to trashcan@arena.net and bury their heads in the sand.
If anything, it should allow to pick the instance and the “side” so you could fight even people with the same color in WvW and (why not?) allies, the latter being tricky though.
And there should be no loot whatsoever, no xp, no wxp, no copper, nothing. This to prevent simple abuse and griefers. And it will never happen.
This sounds so awesome… Honestly if something will make me start playing again GW2 it’s this. I loved the arena, but most of the times it was either dead or the same 5-10 people there.
By making disablers they created that problem. They want to ‘fix’ that by removing white crosses when an objective is tagged.
What are they doing pretty much is this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8EuqxFwS9I8 < just replace arm and finger with siege disablers and white swords.
I sent in a ticket and got a nice response saying that they will investigate the matter.
I’d post my mail conversations with the support staff(oh, yes, their 1st reply was “we will investigate”) over 1 such case, but last time I did I got 3 infraction points and 1 month forum ban for “naming and shaming” and “being disrespectful”.
Shouldn’t this actually encourage more defense and scouting?
If you don’t want your objectives to be taken away, have some people on patrol duty that can call the big guys in case things go south. Instead previously all you had to do was watch the map whenever there were white swords on a building.
Dunno, that’s my humble opinion.
What “patrols” with no white swords? Or do you mean “stand in tower” 24/7 rotations, that only (some, not even all)T1 servers can afford? And even then – do you mean they have to be on a schedule like – “Show up at 05:10h tomorrow at XXX tower to change Scout No 6 or you will get fired from the server!” – lovely. Also – have you EVER defensively scouted for more than 20 minutes?
Can you link me to the source about this change? I would like to read about it before responding here.
The “Adopt-a-Dev” thread:
Hello All,
There was quite a lot of discussion around the proposal of removing white swords from objectives in WvW. We understand there are concerns about how this change might work in practice or how player behavior may change as a result of it. We felt like the best way to understand fully the impact, and give players a chance to see for themselves how it directly changes the WvW experience is to let people try it and see what they think.
We have decided to run a special multi-week event in WvW where we’ll be changing some of the “rules” of WvW for a limited time. This event will feature two major rule changes while it is running: we are planning to remove white swords from objectives, and add points per kill in WvW to the over-all score for the duration of this event. We are currently targeting December for this event but will keep you posted when we have dates nailed down for certain. If this type of event is successful, we may look to do more events like this in the future where for short periods of time the rules of WvW are changed to different rules, scoring and scenarios to help both keep the game fresh, as well as to change up the experience and try new fun things for WvW.
We look forward to your feedback once the event begins, both on the temporary event only changes, as well as the concept of these special events in WvW.Thanks,
John
I call BS on the 1st paragraph… we DO know how it will work, no testing is needed.
- Improving the server match up and rotations for WvW < Something we always wanted.
- Disallowing players to rez fully downed allies while in combat. < Please, do test this.
- Disallowing players to rally off of anything other than enemy players in WvW < Please, do test this.
- Extending Waypoint timers on an attacked objective to keep defenders from “Rez-Rushing” < Same as the other two.
- Requiring a minimum number of defenders to neutralize the “flip” on an attacked objective’s circle. < Same as the other three.
- Decreasing the timer to 2:00 (two minutes) on the fully-downed player state in WvW. < Same…
- Rewarding Scouts for their time and effort in Scouting objectives. < Scouting is so boring, I don’t even know what reward can be enough. Honestly, if white swords appeared as soon as 4+ enemies get within 1200 range of a camp/tower/keep(so barely any scouts are needed, except for patroling around the camps) I wouldn’t mind it.
- Points Per Kill system (other than Bloodlust Buff) < Depends how it’s done, but yea, can be tested.
- Disallowing siege to be placed on gates, withing a certain range, that aren’t Rams. < No opinion.
- Disallowing groups of players to destroy a gate below 50% without the use of Siege. < Please, test this.
Styles has some great ideas, some can probably even be easy to “test”. Also, let’s beat the dead horse again: “Removing the white swords is stupid and no testing is needed for us to know it.”
No white swords is a horrible idea. I don’t understand why you’d want to dumb down the game.
Wait, wait. You call that “dumbing down the game”? Sorry but no, this will do exactly the opposite thing. However – I dare any dev to try scouting a tower for an extended period of time, then say “well it was cool, I had fun”. This is just not gameplay. And they want to force it to people if they want to be able to defend any structures. Genuises. Freaking genuises. Hey, let me go all sarcastic on them:
“We know scouting is a chore – annoying, boring, not fun and expensive and there are barely any people with their right mind that would scout. That is why, we will FORCE people to scout. If they don’t want to put that hard effort, which will make them wish they were doing homework or watching paint dry, well duuuuuh, their server better join the karma train. This is a real war, serious business, and in real wars you do sentry duties, which aren’t fun. kitten fun!”
Visceral Effect had a DEV (Jessica Boettinger) for the past 4 weeks on Europe. Despite the timezone differences, she did join several of our raids where we raid between 18 ~ 22 guys. We as a guild, focus mainly on openfield fights, scrims and GVGs and definitely showed her how we play WVW and not karma trains/ppt crap.
We had several talks on how to improve WVW on a guild basis with fights, instead of crap nobody really cares about. Will there come anything from it? Probably not, however Devs did go through the hassle to find guilds that do something differently than the good ol’ karma trains.
I am glad to hear this. I haven’t played GW2 since several months ago(still regularly check the forums though and this is the first post to actually kill a bit of my overwhelming negativity), but if they actually do something to shuffle the staleness of WvW I might try it again.
I am 99.9% sure that based on your post/screenshot a flying+invisible mesmer opened a portal, they jumped in and dealt with the “red” in front of them, then realised where they are and how they got there and jumped out.
P.S. The “FSP style?” comment in your picture is lovely.
Hyperion, since your problem isn’t that you are losing, but that they are getting away, and being annoying: here are 3 easy steps when you see 1 thief approaching you, as a warrior:
Step 1 – change your least important “1v1” utility to “Fear me”.
Step 2 – damage the thief enough so he drops his SR(99.9% of the thieves use SR as their last heal/stall resort).
Step 3 – jump in the SR, use “Fear me” – proceed to finish them while they are revealed.
Their stance hasn’t changed, from what I’ve read. No, they haven’t responded or taken action vs the previous cases of siege trolls. They did take action vs the ones that posted pictures/videos of them, with their names in it though.
I’d propose a driking game with a sip for the words “exciting” and “excited” and a gulp for the sentence “we are happy/content/proud”, but I fear the audience would drop dead drunk in the first 3 minutes…
My suggestion is:
1 – make them 50% stronger.
2 – make have a warm-up period of 30s after they have been built, before they can shoot(no more open field flash ACs, no more easy offensive ACs).
the last weekend one or more players from an enemy server used map glitch to kill lords in upgraded towers . they succeeded to give a good score to their server and a big advantage like 12k points .
the result of their actions was to kitten off both servers that was the victims of their actions and turned both servers against them !
after 2 days of the hacker / glitch-ers actions they are behind in the score ….
GJ hackers you doomed your server
So basically you are saying their whole server will suffer for a few rotten apples. And I am sure they don’t even care – they get their loot from the keeps and the fun of trolling others… and I don’t mean only you – I am sure their own server don’t like what they are doing.
But anyways – here is my experience with such a case: Our whole server reported him with ingame reports for months, then I tried a mail and got a “we are investigating” reply. After a week I asked how is the investigation going and got a “use the ingame report system” reply. ………what? Lucky for us he quit the game after like 4 months. Yey…..
Just wondering… anyone else got alarm bells ringing in his head, while reading this part?:
We’re excited to announce that the next World vs. World tournament is starting on September 12, the Friday after our September 2014 Feature Pack launches! We’d also like to welcome our Chinese players to experience their first WvW tournament! We’ve got some exciting changes in store for the World vs. World Fall Tournament 2014, so let’s get to it!
What’s New?Tournament Duration
Our next tournament will be an extremely intense, exciting four-week-long tournament battle.
Can you (ArenaNet) make first rank also give passive +25% Movement Speed for the golem?
It’s called Traveler runes on the driver’s armor.
this game was supposed to be pay to play.
Don’t give them ideas… next thing we see might be “pay 1 gold to be able to log in”.
I wish there was an “ignore poster” button on these forums (I’d pay 5$ for it) just so I can’t read lordkrall’s BS. I wonder how much they pay him per post…
