I really liked the Eir memorial section the first time. I went back to get a missed achieve and have to agree, the great dialog and moving story just are tedious and boring on repeat. I actually feel guilty hating it now because of the content. I’m baffled why, when achieves require multiple plays of the story even by one toon, there is no skip button on long dialog. This has been a sticking point for me to repeat other parts of the living story to finish off my achieves.
It was fixed today! I logged on one of the characters I had parked there and Adis was gone and ulfred was standing there. A few minutes later the event started. Since it was the daily area, plenty of people made it succeed. Yay. Thought I was going to have to report back here every week.
These areas seemed to be spreading over time. I honestly thought it was part of the evolving story, and was excited to see how it fit in.
I’m now on the third day waiting for this. I’ve spent hours waiting, logging in when the Maw is active to try the published kludge (never once have gotten a new map), relogging characters repeatedly. I’ve even started logging in periodically during the day to try for a lucky chance. Nothing. These events have been bugged for years, why, why even use them for a requirement in a long, hard process? To be at 94% complete at the penultimate step and to sit and wait for an unknown amount of time for a fix that has no predicted timeline is incredibly frustrating. Please ANET, just reset the maps if you can’t fix problematic events. This was predictable from the start due to the events having problems for a long time and is simply unacceptable.
So you are saying that if you had done all that PvE stuff and been given a required currency (STILL in you wallet), you would be perfectly happy to find out you could not use it and have to redo all that stuff because you missed an obscure line in a update notice? I don’t believe you and don’t know why you posted this. You are having to do new PvE content for a new set of legendaries (the old ones can still be done the old way if desired). Sorry, but I and many others posting here spent a lot of time in WvW, which I disliked as much as you claimed to dislike PvE, earned and saved the currency used for the Gift of Battle. That is the ONLY reason I did WvW. I earned the currency needed and it is now worthless for that purpose. That is the problem. If you actually read this list, you would see that others did not choose to not buy them, they missed a poorly done notice about the change. I actually did not know about this until today, because I finished Nevermore III and was looking for the merchant to get my gift of battle and hence to Google and this sad series of posts. Arbitrarily voiding a currency is not acceptable in the real world nor in a game.
It seems like Anet should be interested in increasing the participation in WvW, not killing it. The only time I even think about WvW is when one of my toons is visiting for the crafting station and sees some interesting activity, which I join. This change will reduce my interest and participation in WvW by 99%. Every time I wait 5 minutes to load into LA and spend time and money WPing back to my location, I’ll be building an additional resentment for the WvW world that used-to-be. This helps active WvW players by a tiny amount (I see queues about twice a month at most), really kills interest and participation by occasional WvW players. See you all much, much later.
It’s good to share. The next topic down is someone bored. At least they are happy now.
This is still a bug, I just participated in the whole run, only two of us herded beetles and Neither of us got credit.
Mine was fine through this morning, on my login a few minutes ago, mine reset.
Windows 7 pro, 64 bit client.
Kudos to the person who decided to this patch after everyone went home for the day……….
omg, omg, it’s too exciting (and slow to download).
>Wonder if it has to do with people who have multiple guilds.
Nope, I’m a one person guild with no other members. Belong to no other guilds. Sole owner of this one. I cannot access any guild bank or cave materials.
The grand total of bogus purchases is now: 108 pauldrons, 114 pants, 63 gloves, 250 bows, 86 pistols. The most items I attempted to buy was 7 of one them. I used the slider only a few times and it never registered above 7. Some of these items cost 10 silver!
This is a disaster.
I was just playing around and there appears to be lag in the system so that the slider SHOWS a low number of items to buy, but when clicked, switches to “order” and a huge number of max items.
I have been using the TP daily for the last week with nothing like this happening before.
I was buying low value armor and weapons in the TP (<1.5 silver) and noticed my gold had plummeted precipitously. I was horrified to see that I had “bought” over 50 strong iron pistols of smouldering, several HUNDRED resilient krytan bow of force and a dozen paudrons, gloves and other items. All of these at prices 3-10 time the price I would normally buy them. There is something seriously wrong with the interface. What has happened? How do I get rid of these? The price I paid for these unwanted and unordered items is too high to sell them, not to mention the fees I would have to pay. This has to be a bug in the system.
I found the answer to mine in another post. There is an extra secret double handshake required: click the gear in the left hand window and a rarity filter will drop down. Horribly implemented and unintuitive, but it works.
Yes, please tell us how to solve this; I have a different search I used to do (see all available green armor) that limits out at the cheap stuff. How do I see the complete list without spending the rest of my life clicking each armor type?
Lol, sad but true.
Didn’t see that coming……
They are upgradable, like recent event backpacks; you use the lesser backpack as an ingredient to make a higher level one. Yours is probably not a fine enough level to accept upgrades. As usual, a good guide on Dulfy.
Trading post only appears to be functioning; no one seems to be able to buy or sell. Please fix!
I was just trying to make myself feel better about spending $$$$ gold to max a second alt in weaponsmithing. It does seem like bad design, but there is definitely a policy in place against correcting it. I still think it could be solved by a warning when an alt tries to read a high level recipe at rock bottom levels. I don’t even know why this alt had level 5 in weaponsmithing in the first place. A costly accident.
I stopped buying keys for a while, saved all my geodes, waited for a Tier 4 and bought my centipede recipe. Dropped it off in my bank, picked it up with my Charr level 450 Armorsmith, and read it.
Unfortunately it’s a Weaponsmith recipe, DOH! The Charr had 5 in weaponsmithing, and another alt has 400.
I submitted a ticket and was informed that it was an item that could not be replaced (which makes sense, since they can’t unread it on one alt, so they have to guard against double-dipping). So I either need to work on 400 more geodes or spend gold leveling this alt’s Weaponsmithing. Seems like a simple “Do you really want to read this 400 level recipe?” when the char is below level 10 in a craft might be a much better design.
Live and learn.
Wouldn’t it be cool if we could adopt a kid from LA for a sidekick? After playing my ranger and minion necro, I always feel a bit lonely running around with other chars without a pet or companion. I think I miss the sidekicks from GW1. A kid sidekick who knew how to run away from danger, but needed some help and guidance could be interesting. And have them carry some loot, heh, heh.
Like I said, from 2 minutes into the cycle until dead and kicked out at the end I spent in Trader’s Forum. I participated in EVERY defense and all defenses were successful. If a whole cycle is not from 2 minutes after the gate opens until EVERYONE is dead, what and successfully completing every event is not right, what is?
After several unsuccessful attempts at this, today I hung around trader’s forum the whole cycle and amazingly, there were enough people to successfully defend every single event. Not too amazingly, I failed to get the achievement. Dulfy says that you don’t even need to hang around after defending one. So what is the ACTUAL achievement I have to do here?
When this first came out, it was reported that the node was far across the home site from the other perm nodes; does anyone have one in Divinity’s Reach to confirm this? The others are all convenient to each other and I might think about this if it was next to the others.
This is so bad, I tried sanctum sprint and my character was flashing in and out of existence every time I used a skill; appearing 50 feet ahead or over a cliff. I then gave up to Lion’s arch and it took 5 seconds to pick up a snowball. WTH? This has been getting worse and worse over the last few days.
why is everyone complaining? I just tested the search and it will always search for the letter “a”. That’s it. Just the letter “a”. No other word or letter set. Just change your search needs to fit the system!
This is just sad.
Stay away from any area with lots of commanders or visible zergs. The designers are eager to increase new zerg opportunities while they know the players nearby are likely to be disconnected randomly. If you are lucky, you will be disconnected before being lagged/rubberbanded which is very common and results in you returning to the game dead with broken armor. I’ve had really bad disconnection problems for the last month. When I return to my computer desktop, there is NOTHING wrong with my connections or provider. This is a really bad ANET server problem. About every 8th topic on here is about lag and disconnects.
Don’t feel bad about the lag, it’s just the games way of warning you that you will rubber band off a cliff into a mob of enemies, get killed while unable to move or use spells and then be disconnected. After that, you will welcome lag as your friend versus the alternative. A beautiful game with world class total failure in server reliability. The other good news is that this gives you another opportunity to spend silver to resurrect and fix your armor. Fun!!
Ha! GW2 letting anyone know what to expect or what is going on. Good one!
During the daily period, zero, today one and the first time (out of maybe 20) that we got Scarlet in overflow. We got Scarlet on the only time I managed to actually play the event in the regular instance.
I guess I lucked out. I was stuck at 11/13 although I had completed everything but the mysteriously rare Dredgehaunt event (never saw it during playing hours the ENTIRE event period, until tonight). Tonight, Dredgehaunt triggered just after another repeat event. I really didn’t want to do two of these hideous, chaotic, disconnecting at 45 minutes, lag fests in a row, but I figured it was my last chance, even though it appeared I’d finish the whole event with 12/13. Beating all odds, I managed not to be disconnected during the event (what was THAT all about? weird and unexpected), and completed the event. I immediately got my reward for 13/13. So when things seem completely illogical and hard to understand in GW2, remember that 12=13 and everything will fall into place.
How would I know how good the new content is? After 2 hours of wasted time, I have been disconnected numerous times and have TOTALLY failed to enter even one instance of the main events. Hours of waiting in queues for absolutely nothing. This is a disgrace.
Nice, “kittenes” i.e. hard to jump crystals got kittened!
I 100% agree with you. I especially enjoyed the sky ship content (and I completely lucked out by doing all the crystal finding BEFORE they nerfed my Necro; she was able to try the really kittenes and survive the falls .. Nevermore). This is just literally a waste of time, lots of time I don’t have.
Here is a complete list of reasons why they should put people in an overflow area (I just waited 20 minutes in one) when there is no hope of playing anything:
Hooray! After 20 minutes I got into my world’s Bloodtide instance. AND nothing’s happening! Still BOTH the messages that the minons ARE and ARE NOT attacking bloodtide coast. Breathtakingly awful event. This is a masterpiece of frustrating content. I have now spent over an hour to do absolutely nothing. And look at the huge list of achievements here! It looks like I could spend weeks waiting in queue for many, many events that I won’t be allowed to participate in. I am looking forward to the adventure.
Here’s my experience: get the message about the new content and that it will be announced under “Clockwork Chaos” on my screen when it is active. Log on. My character sees that “the minions are attacking Sparkfly Fen”. Pay silver to travel to Sparkfly Fen. Arrive into overflow to huge chaotic battles going on around me. Join one; in one minute kicked off the server into my desktop. Complete total game connection failure. No warning or explanation. Log back on. Back into overflow. Now the game says “Scarlet’s minion are attacking Sparkfly Fen” (again). It ALSO says “Scarlet’s minions are not attacking this world” This defies logic. Run around. Nothing is happening. Go back to Lion’s arch. Message changes to “Scarlet’s minions are attacking Bloodtide Coast”. Travel there. Back in overflow. Same totally incomprehensible message that minions ARE and ARE NOT attacking my area. Hang around killing defenseless creatures for a while. NOTHING HAPPENS. Minimize and come look here where completely unhelpful players suggest that I wait another 10 minutes. FOR WHAT??? This is absolutely awful content. Oh, yes. I’m teased with a daily completion of one of these events or I can’t get the reward at the end. NICE!
Absolutely unbelievably bad design and implementation of the program for what must be widespread lag and connection problems. I have a year old mega$ gaming computer that works flawlessly on all internet related programs, except GW2 (lagwars2). My horrendous lag and disconnection problems also started with the August 13th patch. Tonight my spell panel went blank, and I was pummeled to death by invisible enemies in a beginner area. What kind of person would design a game where the character gets cut off with no spells nor defenses but the enemies cant continue to attack and destroy? I’m completely disgusted. There are time limited achievements that cannot be done because ANETS servers are incapable of allowing players to play. And THANKS for a design that cost money (and potentially REAL money) to repair and transport my character when your bad design and inadequate servers kill me for no reason.
So why in the name of sanity isn’t this an “activity”? I can’t get my activity participation daily and the zephyrite ones (the ONLY ones mentioned on the wiki up to a few hours ago) are inaccessible. Why is this a daily when there is exactly ZERO explanation about how to get it? Seriously, do the programmers put stuff like this in here with absolutely no explanation or logic and sit there laughing at us? I can’t even find anything googling activity participation.
I completed two “jubilee” activities and got squat. There is NO description of what to do to get this daily. this is extremely poorly implemented and described.
Nevermore, I haven’t logged on to check this, but I’m sure you are right; the skill and poi are what I was trying to get to and they appear to be at the site of the boss fight in the Cragstead instance, but could well be underneath! I did trigger the new poi as you mentioned, but did not have the original ones, which I thought were also inside Cragstead. I will look for the other entrance and finish these off, thanks for your help.
I have edited this comment because Mercury Ranique is absolutely right, there is no excuse for my original rant. I wrote it after over an hour of frustration when I had planned a “quick” late night-before-workweek map completion. I was frustrated by trying to get to a skill point and poi clearly visible inside Cragstead, but on arrival I was asked if I wanted to “relive” the event to get in the gate. Had I done this event with this alt or another one? I couldn’t remember and had no way to know. The hero panel only shows completion for the account, with no way to know if this alt had done it. I really wanted to finish the map, so I figured, well my character is low level, but this is a beginner area, so I’ll polish off the event to get the last two points. Over an hour later, with my armor demolished and a tough solo fight because the NPC died like a lemming, I defeated the boss and exited to find that the skill point and poi were still there taunting me, undone.
I lost it and wrote an aggressive rant that indeed did not show the best quality of my character. Thanks for pointing that out and letting me correct that.
I still think this is extremely confusing to have a new area/event overlapping old content with no ability to figure out how alts can interact with it, but I do appreciate the help. This is a great forum area.
