They removed the Report someone for being idle option for reporting. I think that says how serious they are about it. They never took any action anyway, even when said person tells everyone in chat they are going AFK. You’d think the chat logs would be enough evidence really.

This annoys me no end. Any mesmer condi spec is so boring to play, yet the only viable builds are condi for PvP. The elite spec sucks because of this. Why should I buy PoF? Mounts, who cares. My main character get nothing but a stupid axe and more condi which I don’t play.

Only thing I have to say is make Mirage traits compatible with power builds. I honestly don’t know what the devs were thinking when they made this elite spec. Why make a heavy condi spec and leave power in the cold. If you prefer power builds this spec offers you nothing at all. Seems very lazy to not have added versatility. Why are they trying to make Mes a condi only class?

I don’t know having effectively double the health of other classes and “I win” reaper form is pretty good going. Good necros can burst down several people at once, see it happen in ranked all the time.

If I remember correctly they changed it back to it’s old form of cd reduction. Same as all of those weapon cd reduction skills pre-HoT. Why I have no idea, but they have been killing mes stealth slowly over time either directly or by adding so much reveal in-game.

Yeah agreed, it’s like well of eternity (but much worse), a PvE heal, because when does a mes stand still in one place for that long in pvp unless you want to get destroyed. I think only a few classes can get away with that, mes isn’t one of them.

Well of Eternity is a great heal in PvP :P It condi cleanses and has a really short cast time though.

I’ve rarely seen a mes run this or any of the other wells in pvp except grav well, because they are awful for mobility combat. I’ve tried numerous combinations of wells and it is obvious they were more made for zerg PvE or WvW.

Almost all Mesmer PvP builds use Well of Eternity. Just check out Metabattle, pro Mesmer streams etc.

Anyways back to the topic. The reason why False Oasis is bad, is because you don’t have most of the heal yet until 3 seconds down the cast time, Vigor isn’t much of a good boon to have, Mirage Mirrors are a hassle to keep track of, and the cast time isn’t as fast as WoE’s 1/4 second cast time.

Dude they really don’t. Only people using are new mes players who go to metabattle to get a meta build because they don’t know any better. I play a lot of PvP, and I see it rarely used. It is like the myth that all mes use portal, this is also rare these days, but not as rare as WoE.

Chrono can be either be power of condi spec’d. What Anet is guilty of is neglecting power while buffing condi, leading most mes to play boring passive condi builds. Now they have introduced a condi elite spec that is pretty useless with a power build. So it has no versatility compared to Chrono.

I think the general theme is take some bits of some classes and import them into other classes as elite specs. For mes it it has some elements of thief in there: a few evades built into skills, and 2 shadowsteps (probably to make up for the fact of not having the ileap from sword unless you run 4 weapons).

The mirage instead of dodge mechanic is very hard to get used to. With a dodge you can see you are doing it, when it starts and when it ends. With mirage you can’t really see it in the thick of a fight with all the fx going off all around you. Have to rely on audio cues.

This spec doesn’t offer me anything new because it is a condi elite spec, I find condi builds boring compared to power. But there is no decent builds for power at all. Only good thing is it does have is more in-combat mobility in it.

I don’t like the fact that the new elite is obviously made for a condi spec, and for PvP shows how bad our off hand weapons are. I mean if you don’t go condi there is nothing good there at all. Can’t use shield because it is bound to chrono. No sure why devs have given up on power. It is far more active and enjoyable build.

I think the main concern they have is that some traits coupled with the new specs will be too strong, so they either got rid of them completely or dialed them back.

Elemental Polyphony

Gain attributes based on your current attunement. When dual attuned gain both benefits.

Fire attunement – 120 power
Water attunement – 120 healing
Air attunement – 120 precision
Earth attunement – 120 toughness

Not picking on eles here, just an example.

A lot of traits are like this for ele and other classes too. Is this a cynical ploy to get more people to buy PoF before nerfing these new elite specs into the ground, or is this really serious?

Mirage looks okay, apparently for close range combat. But clone health is so poor even buffed with the +20% extra health trait + 20% extra health utility. Any damaging aoe field and they just pop, and looking at the other classes new specs aoes have increased and just got more damaging and bigger.

Pretty disappointing spec really if you find the condi meta boring. I like playing power shatter. With mes you have to choose power or condi. There is no effective in-between like with some classes. On top of that if this new spec follows Chrono it’ll get nerfed into the ground, while they buff Warr and Guard even more. Also screw going back to traveler runes.

I don’t see anything I like about this spec at all.

Actually Warr, DH, and Engi are hard fights as a mes.

Warrs have among the highest single hit attacks, 2 long blocks, ridiculous speed (gap closers), resistance, and good regen. As a Mes your only option is to kite, which takes a different skillset.

DH burn trap build, with two teleports, and what seems like regening health to full several times in a row. The teleport and burst damage is much better than Mes ileap + shatter. Stacked burn damage is likely the best condi damage in-game. Fighting a good DH is very annoying. You have to out-burst them to win. Rock , paper, scissor style.

Engi, silly amount of sustain, mobility, and that repeatable electrowhirl nonsense is like fighting a sponge.

The pros kill clones and phants with aoe power or condi damage. Without them a Mes is usually toast, and illusions are remarkably easy to kill even when traited for extra health. Like 1 auto attack hit in most cases.

I’ve played Mes for a few years now, and there is no “one shot” can be done. Out of all the classes mes has one of the lowest effective dps. If you build for damage you have to sacrifice sustain, old skool style, unlike some other classes. Highest single shot/skill classes including effects are Thief, Warr, and Guard. Sounds like the Op got hit with a skill combo.

Naa, Mesmer is the only class as of right now that can one shot people with an array of burst skills. It usto be stronger before the patch.

But for those having trouble with this build, you need to be able to dodge the shatter. Most the time, you’ll notice the little purple kitten hit you, combined with a stun. You need to Stunbreak and dodge as soon as possible to avoid the rest of the spike.

If you want to avoid the spike all together, you need to preemptively predict the shatter. If the mesmer used Mass invis, it can be tough, but if not, you will notice the clones start to run at you fast. That’s a good indication to dodge, and more than likely you’ll dodge the spike.

I think we playing a different PvP game. Saying Mes is the only class that can one shot (presumably meaning string together a range of attacks to down a player before they can react) is very rare. Mes does not have the highest burst by a long shot. A large stack of torment can do the job, but Rev can do this too. Warrs have far more potent burst. Warr Arc divider for 8.5K for a single skill that has range. Thief vault for 8-10K damage. Ele overload hitting you for 2k each strike (can be performed twice in a row) and interrupts your skills. DH Orb of Wrath auto attack for 1.5K, stacked traps can do 15K+ damage instantly.

Seriously is it is ridiculous to say Mes is the highest burst damage. Mes can do well but you have to get hit with Mes + 3 clones, which is almost impossible if the target is moving. Even then it doesn’t rank in top 3 damage dealers. Go to the Mes forum and say the same thing if you are not worried by being laughed at.

It is likely that anyone who can pull off a complex string of attacks without error on Mes is either a pro, or pretty good + traited for quickness, or using a macro. I run a uber power Mes build. Pure damage. To use that means I run without any condi cleanse, no stability, use zerker amulet, no blink, and sometimes have a might build. Basically virtually no defence except dodge and shield. Not for the faint hearted. I can only “one shot” someone if they aren’t paying attention and have a super squishy build. But using that criteria any classs can one shot another if they get the jump on them.

I’ve seen that picture so many times in different matches it isn’t funny. Btw chill usually stops people moving away too quickly. Playing as a mes against necro 1v1 is difficult, always waiting for the reaper switch which can pretty much end the fight without blink up.

Playing mes sucks. It has been continually nerfed so that there is only 1 viable condi build. Forget power build unless you are a top pro. To build for power damage that can compete with other classes you have to roll with no cleansing and give up on a lot of survival skills. Mes makes you have to choose between damage and sustain, while a lot of other classes can build for high crit, power, and sustain. Way it stands is mes is for vets in ranked.

I agree GW2 has the most unbalanced and nonsensical PvP I’ve ever played. It breaks so many rules of good PvP in an attempt to make itself unique that it is an unholy mess. Classes that can build to have great healing and burst damage through traits and skills while others classes have to choose one or the other, warrior stun locks until death, perma evade thieves, rangers with more stealth than thieves, near unkillable sustain engis etc. The list of ridiculous aspects could fill several forum pages, but hey it makes great e-sport, lol.

Class stacking that is effective shows an inherent imbalance between classes. Some classes are hard or soft counters to other classes (which is a ridiculous situation). A few are easier to play than others with a much lower skill bar, but more damage rewarding like DH. I shouldn’t have more success playing a newly created DH than a class I’ve played for several years. Some maps favour large aoe condi fields because of small caps and thus favour certain classes. Anet need to grow a pair and make the changes that are needed without giving into players who complain because their class have a imbalanced advantage that they want to keep.

I don’t care how many buttons a mouse has. Logically one macro (i.e. one button) that can pull off a set of skill combos flawlessly every time with minimal time between skills is going to be better than a player pressing all the skills individually. Trying to argue the oppose is silly. Macros don’t get tired, drunk, or screw up. Try your luck against a macro typing the same sentence over and over again. You will lose to it’s speed and flawless replication.

I like the changes. Kylo mid and Skyhammer have too many structures in the way. Sometimes you are fighting blind because all you can see is the roof or column overhangs. Fighting blind gives an advantage to aoe spammers who don’t have to see what they are doing. They just cover the whole ground in large damage or interrupt fields. I think they should give all maps a pass, as some maps and small caps gives an advantage to some classes over others.

I agree with the previous poster about the removal of the middle tunnel that connects both sides. I don’t like that. It means you have to go through mid or walk all the way around. This give trebs a bit too much protection.

So people are saying macro are available, but absolutely no one in PvP uses them, because what everyone has a heart of gold? Really. When you’ve played sPVP for a few years you can clearly see the different between those who use and those who don’t. Especially if you play those classes, and realise that is the only way they can pull off certain combos that quickly and consistently is with help.

I have played this game since the launch and have never seen a skill combination/combo that I have not been able to do without macros. I have a mouse with extra buttons and good keybinds that is all. It just takes practise after that. Hardest combos imo are some chronomancer continuum split combos and fresh air eles phoenix blink one shot but still no need for macros.

Read my post again, I’m not talking about combinations, I’m talking about the inhuman speed I sometimes see the same person pulling them off without fail in the same match. I’ve played PvP for at least 3 years and you know when someone is using macros, and when they are not.

Both DH and Warriors need toning down. The difference between the two you have to be a good warr to get god mode, but DH requires much less skill for the same reward. For DH they need to add cast time to their traps, and nerf their 2 teleports skill which are ridiculous given the amount of burst damage DHs can do. Symbol of blades is on a 10sec timer. So they can teleport to you and lay traps, burns etc for enough damage to down a 21.5K health player in an instant.

Okay so multiple skills on 1 button is not okay. Well I’m seeing that in some PvP matches for sure. A lot of DHs are using it, and probably other people playing other classes too. My main is mes and I sometimes come across other mes who’s build I know and they are definitely using macros. Because I know the skill sets I know it is isn’t possible to do certain combinations as quickly as they do for insta kills for everyone they meet in 1v1. When you meet people who can pull off long combos in about 1 sec before you can react consistently that’s very likely a multi-skill macro at work.

Hmm not really. Maybe these players just have better keybinds than other players, as well as multi button mouses that can significantly increase the amount of keys you can press in a short period of time…..In a fast based action combat like this game, an optimal setup of the keyboard and the mouse is very profitable. Not denying of course that cheaters exist but with all this visual noise in the game, appearances can be very misleading as well

You still have to press buttons on a mouse. The situations I’m talking about are skills being performed far beyond human reflex times of pressing buttons. Skill executions are right on top of each other, which to me means a macro is being used. Sometimes including a proc’ing action. For example you have to guarantee an interrupt to get quickness followed by insta kill burst damage combination. I’m pretty sure there must be a way Anet can determine if a macro is being to execute multiple actions consistently and without fail every time.

I stopped playing for about 6 months and only returned recently. When I came back the first thing I saw in the latest patch notes were DH were getting buff (liked they needed it) and Mes were still being nerfed for some reason only known to the devs. Honestly there isn’t that much left to nerf. But I’m sure they will find something. They just don’t have a clue with what to do with Mes at the moment. They made them strong in HoT update and since then have pruned it all back.

I prefer power shatter, so if they can make that a more viable build to play again in PvP I would be happy. Need much better condi cleanse and stability added to traits for the power lines.

Not really sure. It is not because I want to use them, but they obviously convey an unfair advantage in PvP. It is very noticeable when someone is using them, especially if they have skills with no cast time or/and can easily obtain quickness.

A prime example are DHs that can teleport to you and lay 4 instant utility traps (including Maw elite) and burns in about 1.25 secs.

You were correctly answered several times in this thread: Mesmer go close at the start because is assumed that they are tanky enough to keep the point and then left a portal and ride to middle, so if an enemy tries to decap the Mes (and maybe other team mates from middle) can hurry to defend close.

This could not happen in most of your matches due reasons, but doesn’t change the logic behind the choice.

It is only logical if the Mes has portal, it isn’t logical if they do not, and usually they do not run with it. The reason I think why is because fighting is more fun than running around from cap to cap dropping portals. Similar reason to why a lot of mes didn’t like being veil/portal bots in WvW.
