It’s not just the “skimpy armor for women so I can stare at them” people who want skimpy armor. Some people who rolled Charr and Sylvari characters want to show off the fur and glow respectively. My Charr is covered from head to toe. I can’t see (or show off) the fur pattern I picked. My Sylvari, which are PLANTS for heaven’s sakes, are modestly covered and don’t show off their glow.

If people want realistic armor that obeys the laws of physics, this game already has that. Their choices are available. For people that want stylish skimpy armor, their choices run from few to zero depending on the race of the character.

TL:DR I vote for more skimpy stylish armor.

Yah, they have one from Divinities Reach to Ebonhawke in the Field of Ruin. Another long portal from a major city to somewhere in Orr would be nice.

Asking for the Dev Tracker to have a search function for that sub forum only. If you want to answer on a thread with a direct reference to what a Dev said, it makes you search the forums. If the quote you want is some time back, is buried under a pile of other, similar threads. This leads to “knowing” what a Dev said about but being unable to easily pull it up.

It is not optimal, but to save the names of all of your pets (read: all of everyone’s pets) would require another large name database that ANet did not create. Currently the pet name feature saves the name in the slot, not the pet, so changing out the pet type resets the slot name.

Have you ever heard of “the broken windows” theory of policing? Basically it states that when small matters, such as people breaking other people’s windows are not taken care of by society or by law enforcement, it’s a signal to people that they can behave as they wish with no repercussions. By addressing small matters, it keeps larger matters from developing. This is part of what ANet is doing by banning abusive language and profanity.

Do you ever read the official forum on WoW? People complaining how chat is filled with anal jokes, racist remarks, anti homosexual comments, profanity, etc…. People complain that they report people for making really nasty chat and nothing happens. Apparently Blizzard only hands out very mild sanctions which these people ignore. Maybe you don’t mind paying in a game where this is common in chat, but a lot of others do.

The problem with a “kitten” is that it grows up and becomes a “cat”. People using profanity in chat, it starts up as a small problem and and ends up a large one.

Soulbound is not soulbound. ^^ You break it and it becomes account bound, available to all of your alts that can use it.

They don’t allow it because some people will give or sell an account, then later contact support and get it back. Then the person who lost the account goes thru support trying to get it back. They can’t of course, since they weren’t the original buyer. The account sometimes ends up being locked from both parties. It’s just not worth the hassle.

If you do it, wouldn’t hurt to snapshot an agreement in chat between you saying what you are doing and why. You might get banned for doing this and you can use the snapshot to speed up the unbanning. Even if you don’t, support can see the money going back to each person and the bank balance retuning to original, but it doesn’t hurt to have the screenshot. .

You’’ll get banned instantly if you send that much gold. It happened to a friend of mine. He was banned for like 2 weeks. It took them forever to straighten it out.

It actually seems to be a bit hit and miss. I and 2 guildies exchanged gold. I got a ban (175 gold loaned to) the other 2 didn’t (25 gold and a full 200 gold loaned). I can see why the 25 gold person escaped the ban, but why didn’t the 200 gold person? As for the length if the ban, for me it was about 27 hours.

THIS is indeed a very good question and it should be considered to change it that way that one cannot buy soulbound armor that has the wrong armor class.
(I cannot think of any case where it would be useful to buy armor (that is soulbound on acquire) that you cannot use with your character. So there would be no need for this option and if you simply could not buy the wrong armor that is soulbound on acquire it could prevent some damage.)

I’ve done it many times, on purpose. I do it when I want the skin only and the character that I want it for is too low level to get to that spot or doesn’t have enough karma. All you have to do then is break the soulbinding, put it in the bank and let your alt pick it up. A lot of people use this soul breaking method to transfer items between characters.

The change to the timer ruined it. If only they could make the regular chest account bound and once a day then revert to the old timer. No long waits and you could run alts thru for some quick exp, as well as use it for getting your daily.

Now there are hordes of people waiting and waiting for their rare. So many the event is crushed under the number of people. Getting those people in and out of there would lessen the crush.

I think there would be a difference from farming an event that can’t be completed and farming an event that people deliberately bugged so it wouldn’t complete. If they banned people from farming at Penitents, they would have to ban half the players. Lol.

And they will come on and say, your ticket needs to be at 3 days old before you post here and there is absolutely nothing they can do anyway without a ticket number.

People are trying to suggest ways to help you. They don’t know what you may or may not have done to resolve this or your level of computer competence. Being rude to people who are trying to help will deter others who have suggestions you haven’t tried or thought of.

It’s just curious where the date 2/19 came from. It suggests that they are seeing your account was hacked then. If their records show that, getting a more current date to reset to may be impossible. If their logs are showing early March, then that date is really strange. There is a disconnect in the story somewhere. Dealing with support and getting info from them can be like pulling teeth. (I know because I’ve dealt with them before). Maybe Ms. Gray will be able to tell you why they are saying that date.

You say you can’t sell due to lag issues. So i assume you could raise enough money in game to fund a transfer. Can a trusted friend or guildie sell your stuff for you then send you the money, which you then use to buy gems?

So basically, Anet Support will roll back the account to when the initial account compromise took place, which would most likely explain the 2 month time frame. If that’s the case, I doubt they’ll allow him to pick and choose which point to restore the account to.

If so, that means his account was hacked back in the middle of February, which is why they are saying 2/19/13. If this is why then it appears he has the option to either take the rollback or keep it the way it is now. They don’t allow you to pick your roll back date. It’s either at the time of the hack or not at all.

So, you set it to auto swap and it does so, right before you need a particular skill such as a block. Not sure I see the advantage here.

If you are going to make suggestions, you need to make an argument as to why it’s a good idea and and counter likely objections, not just set out a statement

Yah, sounds like a major disconnect somewhere. Especially since Ms. Gray has already said it was 2 days. Maybe it got put in the notes as 2 months (maybe a typo, 2 days was meant) and now whoever is checking on it, is just reading the 2 months and not looking further. Ah, good ole Morrowind. How I did love sneaking around and stealing stuff. Now I wander into the buildings of this game and stare longingly at the goodies I can’t steal or sell. But what a great mini game, seraphs and bandits. I don’t know how they could work out the details, but it sounds interesting.

Edit: naturally the bandits and seraphs would have to fight it out. Got to have control of the city to win, as well as steal or stop stealing.

Yep. It was worthy of a 71 hour ban. Lots of people are offended by others throwing the N word around. Next time use the forum filter word, kittens. It’s safe and it means whatever your little heart desires.

By the way, if you HADN’T offended anyone then you wouldn’t have been reported and then banned. So obviously you did offend at least one person. A number of “fairly reasonable people” do not think someone throwing the N word around is in good taste.

You need to edit this and add the ticket number. There is nothing they can say or do until then.

It can be a little confusing. If you check mark it so it appears on your UI, then mouse over it, it will tell you there the total you need, in this case 150. There are 10 per map and 5 maps so you can get a max of 50 per day. It’s still doable even at this late date. Dulfy has a great guide. Just get a character with a speed boost and it’s not so bad.

You asked for fast paced, mobility and good damage. I would also suggest thief. Can be a bit fragile but they are fun, even at low levels.

TWO MONTHS? That sounds a little strange. I thought it was a few days, that they took “account snapshots” every few days. Did you put a question in the forum Account Issues, with a ticket number? At least try to get an answer from there if you haven’t.

I got one yesterday, a rare. BUT, I nearly missed it. A little brown chest sitting on brown ground. They need to be 1) a different, non ground color, like pink. 2) they need to have loot sparkles, or 3) have the world loot under them in yellow. Like the interactive rocks, branches and other stuff have. I try to look but almost every one I’ve seen has been underwater, where they are a lot more obvious. I suspect that I, and everyone else, are missing these.

Alright, open world dueling overall is an added feature that should be considered a good thing.

I’m sorry if your only experience with it has traumatized you for life. I’d be just as sorry if you only ate Hamburgers and someone asked you if you wanted to try Pizza. Knowing you only ever ate burgers, you reluctantly said “no”. Then this pizza fellow kept pestering you for hours and hours and you’ve never wanted to try pizza since. That being said, Pizza is good… but so are Hamburgers. Don’t blame pizza for the annoying “Pizza Fellow”.

There are a number of ways to implement Open World Duels without disturbing those who want nothing to do with it.

A) Have the Duel PM request within the UI needed to select the Duel Option. If your Duel Option is turned off, no Duel PM can be sent. Send an alert back to the one requesting, saying that, “This person does not wish to Duel.” Make sure there is a visible indication that only certain marked players who wish to be Dueled have. This could resemble the “Looking for Group” Icon. Once players see that you don’t want to be bothered with Dueling, they likely won’t ask. (Yes, players could still pm a random person, but I would imagine that over time the GW2 population would learn that only those with the “Duel Icon” have ever participated in the Duel. Also, I’m not sure if anyone else has noticed, but GW2 has cultivated a much more Mature Gaming Society than most mmos… I believe this is do to the cooperative nature of the game).

B) Designate certain “arenas” around the world for Dueling. Dueling can only be started within these arenas. Perhaps each major hub could have this “Fight Club” in it, or… perhaps only a few zones around the world have them. (I’m not a fan of this idea, because it’s limiting, and I think a Duel should be able to happen anywhere. Still, with the waypoint system.. getting to Duel Location wouldn’t be too hard.)

C) Allow Dueling to be an unlocked achievement by completing a specific quest just for Dueling. This way, players without having completed the quest, will not be able to Duel and only those with the Status Icon can actually Duel. This leaves out the possibility of asking ANYONE to Duel, unless they’ve willingly completed the “quest”. Thus mitigating the amount of Duel Spam seen by those who are not interested.(perhaps Dueling could be enabled by an item bought from the gem store…)

…These are just some ideas I came up with off the top of my head… imagine what the Devs at A-Net could come with?…

The “having to do a specific quest first” is a nice touch. When someone who wants to duel gets a reject based on that, they know its pointless to continue asking since that person CAN’T accept. Make the quest several steps and somewhat longish. If is short then people could say, just do the quest since it will only take a minute and then duel me. A duel lockout based on not having done content may address a lot of anti-duelers concerns.

Finer grained permissions would be nice. Divided maybe into food, money, rares, greens and how many items per day. That way, a new member could have permission to take out, say 10 foods a day and nothing else. Money could always be locked away to the guild leader only for example and rares to officers. At any rate, restrictions on how many items you can take out a day would help.

Getting reinstated took about 27 hours and I never did find out what the ban was for, although I suspect it was for trading money between 2 other guildies to get the Golden title. However, as the saying goes “Things Happen”. If you are innocent you will get your account back. The people who do the banning are human too. Mistakes happen. Even though you are annoyed and want to speed things up, it actually slows things down for you to not follow the rules. Time to read and deal with the complications they are adding and to not deal with the yours and others primary tickets and posts on tickets that are over 3 days old.

Sometimes I hate having to remind myself that accidents happen and the world doesn’t revolve around me. When I have my mind set on grinding I do NOT want to stop and unfortunately I was having a lot of fun with my new ELE.

A guildie transferred the flaming Mad Memories from her Ranger to her Mesmer, so it can be done. I think she had to transmute it twice. Unfortunately I don’t know the details of how exactly she did it, other than it failed the first time.

I ended up buying a hair makeover kit and dyeing my hair accessory to match my hair color. I got tired of my hair ribbons clashing with my colors of the day, as I tend to redye my armor frequently. It’s a poor solution but I consider it marginally better than having the colors clash.

Not everyone can do the jumping puzzles, not even the easy ones. A guildie of mine has arthritis in her hands. Jumping puzzles are difficult for her. When we are in a group and doing a JP, naturally she wants to be with us. She does try but many of the jumps are beyond her. So we portal her. And then there are the people with slow Internet connection. They have trouble also. Not everyone who wants a portal is lazy.

Well, that’s a new one. Is it old armor and weapons or random gear you have never seen before? And how long has it been since you last been on? If you haven’t been on in a while, even a few days, maybe your account was hacked.

I bought all my gems with cash. So about 150 USD. I’m actually fine with it, but i am pretty sure i won’t do it again. I’m not a big gambler (might play the lotto once a year), but i do use a lot of the stuff out of the chests (boosters, kits and the like). I did get both backpacks too, along with makeover stuff. Not that i have any desire to make over any of my toons, but i might at some point.

My biggest gripe isn’t even rng, it’s that you have no other option to acquire these skins, as i mentioned before.

Yeah, that’s the problem with RNG. While some may get it on one it two tries, others will be at the far right hand side of the Bell Curve. It’s unfun to pay a large amount, with RL money or game money and not be able to get what you wanted. They should at least allow you to sell the items you get.

You guys went against your word and opened the servers up to other countries.

Lets recap on what happened to the League of Legends community upon opening their servers to Brazilians. The community went downhill and players were not able to properly communicate with each other.

Please give Brazilians their own servers, but allow them to play in the NA region for WvW.
They have delays on the NA server making them semi handicap in WvW.

And this isn’t an isolated case. Many traditional cultures consider menstruating women unclean.

Until fairly recently in America, that time of the month was refered to as The Curse. God cursed women with menstruation because of Eve’s sin. Because of lingering feelings of dirtiness and because of old religious reasons, many people are still uncomfortable with this subject.

Can you salvage the rare cultural weapons for ectos? Or maybe put them in the mystic toilet to try for a precursor? I haven’t tried either, might be worth a try.

When you start a forum thread about something, you are “making a big deal about it”. If you invite other people’s opinions, that’s what you are going to get, both positive and negative. If its something that’s against the TOS, then most people are going to be negative.

The game needs a promotion system, like Guild Wars 1, where inactive leaders are demoted and either next active is promoted or someone designated as Vice President is promoted. Right now it’s a mess. Guilds are left leaderless when leaders stop playing and then can’t use influence. One thread was about where a leader accidentally demoted himself and the game made some person who hadn’t played in months the new leader.

Yeah, THAT’S night-time, and I’m absolutely positive the majority of the userbase would balk and leave if ArenaNet implemented more realistic darkness.

Maybe some sort of dimmer slider, the level of darkness chosen by the individual player. From current level to very dark. I can see people not liking true night, especially in mob dense areas. But the ones who want it should have the option. A large number of people, including myself, wouldn’t mind night becoming dark enough to easily tell from day by using a customizable dimmer slider.

The main complaint I have about the current day/night setting, is that the game was advertised as having days and nights and I can’t usually tell which is which unless I am playing a Sylvari and check the glow or deliberately stare at the sky.

It’s actually very easy to tell night from day. Play a Slyvari. Look at it. Is it glowing? Then it’s night time. ^^

More seriously, yeah, it could stand to have some sort of dimmer to make nights darker. I can’t tell day from night unless I am playing a Sylvari and check the glow. Maybe if the characters could equip a torch on their armor to light up the immediate surroundings if it was actually dark?

The OP’s post did not mention whether they were swearing AT one of their teammates. There is difference between saying, “Aw kitten, I missed the last jump for the JP! I was SO CLOSE! The language filter is there to allow for people who are OK with seeing swear words; it does NOT give you license to abuse other people or act like a kitten. I strongly suspect that the OP was suspended because he/she was doing the latter.

So it was both directed at other people and it was “quite foul language”. And it was directed at other people because they were winning a match, not because they did something specifically directed at him that made him lose his temper.
