3) Maize farming wasn’t restricted for the reasons that you listed.
4) Doesn’t mean that this method needs to get reinstated. Have you tried node farming for lower tiered wood logs and ore?
All wrong. ArenaNet just decided to ruin “lower tiered wood logs” in their latest patch. So, they need to reinstate old methods of farming gold.
All that I said were true. Please provide source that Anet ruined lower tier wood log farming with the latest patch.
Source? Look at the prices now. Go on. Have a little look.
It’s not ruined as you can still farm it as you did before and make a decent amount of gold. It’s just not as lucrative as before with the 30G/hr. I also don’t see anything stating what the cause so how are you certain that it is Anet?
Oh the bags. Like I said, you can still farm the nodes and there’s still the T6 node farm. It’s also not the only farm.
he asked for a source, you gave him none. If that was the reason then i would like pvp nerfed. A lot of god awful people come from there…
He made the initial claim so it’s on him to prove it. Otherwise I’ll make the claim that there’s a planet made of ice cream and for all those that disagree with me must prove me wrong.

Farming wood is now pointless, like every other farm in the game.
Nope. You can still do the T6 node farm. Ancient wood logs and Orichalcum ore remain relatively unchanged.

And the refinement change. Awesome news! This means prices for precursor crafting should be reasonable across all of them rather than just half.

It could be much, much worse than what is going on right now. At least there’s an option to pay for gems with gold, some mmo devs don’t even allow that option.
I dont want to pay it with GEMS or GOLD, they deserve neither, i want to earn it in game.
If you don’t want to pay it with gems or gold, then where will the devs get money to make content?
Answer: From the purchase price.
GW2 was B2P and HoT is B2P. B2P = buy to play.
Then all games that charge a subscription (currently or in the past) are ripping players off as they could have been supported without them?
You are funny. Subscription based games are not B2P.
If a game company/publisher chooses B2P, then usually all the income comes from the purchase price.
Letting customers pay for the game (like in a B2P game) and letting them pay again for some extra stuff thats behind a shop (like in a F2P game) is a sign that a game company has become greedy.
Actually, they are and more. You have to buy the game like you would GW2. You have to buy the expansions like you did for HoT. The only difference is that you’re required to pay a subscription to even play these otherwise you would not have access. GW2 doesn’t require this as it is optional, and by player choice, to make purchases through the gem store.
I was also taking the post you quoted into consideration when I responded to you if that provides further context to what I was getting at.
(edited by Ayrilana.1396)
I don’t understand. What part of the game is “Pay to Win”? What items can I buy with cash that give me an absolute advantage over the rest of players who didn’t purchase it?
This thread isn’t about P2w. It’s about prestige and “effort to win”. Grinding is not about effort or intelligence, It’s about mindlessness. Hence the hatred towards grinding.
Yes. Also, please note that I said the game is migrating to a P2W model. Why? Original model (which we all loved) is based in equal opportunities for everyone (we all bought the game, could do the same things, be casual or hardcore didn’t matter that much). F2P and expansion implied differences between HoT buyers and non HoT buyers. In PvP, someone who doesn’t have access to specializations is having a hard time now because specs are Meta (here are the builds used in Pro League http://competitivegw2.blogspot.com.co/). Raids, naturally, use a lot of specs builds. Difference of opportunities, first and second class players is what I see now in GW2.
So every MMO that has ever released an expansion is P2W? I guess that makes GW1 pay to win as well as buying factions, nightfall, and EotN gives you an advantage over prophecies only players. In fact, since buying an expansion is P2W, and nearly every MMO releases expansions, why is this an issue? It’s something to expect as it is the norm.

I used superior rune of air for my thief and engi to have perma swiftness. Should work well with other classes that have a healing skill on low CD with access to other methods of swiftness.

This is a very weird comparison. GW2 has launched one expansion in 3 years, for $50 and half the content [that I prefer to do] is currently disabled, not working, or so bug ridden that you can’t actually progress.
SWTOR on the other hand has launched 4 expansions, all of them free for subscribers and only $15-$20 for non subscribers. They don’t contain nearly as many bugs, all the features actually work, and there is an actual cohesive story.
It’s like comparing a rotten apple to a feast of fresh fruit
You don’t need to look any further than dulfy for the truth. She has published almost twice as many guides, dev communications and class updates for SWTOR as she has for GW2…
Fixed it.
It’s a shame that people think this gem store is so bad. Cause you know, it’s really not.
It’s eating away the content, with huge chunks.
It is bad for the game, because it brings absolutely NO value to gaming experience.
Would you rather pay a subscription instead and have all of those gem store items be available in game?
Getting Aurillium and ley-line crystals is easier than getting aircraft parts. You get direct currency when the meta progresses past certain thresholds whereas you get crowbars instead in VB. The caches also tend to award 3 parts but I’ve seen them go up to 25. Not sure if they award more.
You also tend to only be awards 3 crowbars when from the meta boxes if you have full participation. That’s 9-15 currency for VB at 100% which is the same in the other two maps. I think you also get 10 crowbars when the map transitions to the final meta. I did VB all last night, rushing to get 100% participation and earned less during the cycles than I did when I farmed AB and TD.
I mean, I have been playing black lion chests so far, I buy a stack for 99c each, and then re-list for 1s10c, which nets me about 25s per stack. They usually well pretty fast, so I make a profit of about 1 gold per hour. Ideally if a cool weapon set comes out or there is a key sale, the price raises
Hate to be the one to tell you this but if you’re selling at 1s10c your return after taxes is about 94c. That means you’re losing 5c per chest or 12s 50c per stack.
Yeah. He’s not taking into account the listing fee.
what is the point in posting screenshots of fps u get in game where there is barely anyone on map. those just mean you in game and mean nothing.
if you want to post meaningful screenshots go into a at least 20v20 fight in wvw or a populated LA and post the fps u get.
Go to Shaman in Wayfayer Hills when the entire map is doing that world boss. There’s a good test.
Anything anyone tells you would likely not be worth doing any more by the time that you read it. Hopefully they do contact you in game though.
I’ve noticed people have started speculating on runes because of the new item coming tomorrow. Runes of Snowfall have had its supply drop in half over the past few days. I personally wouldn’t waste my time with those but it gives you an idea of things to look for as some items could potentially increase once an update releases. Not referring specifically to tomorrow’s update but just in general. Just be prepared to take a loss if you’re wrong.

As anyone determined if MF increases the chances of getting those currency bags?
Do the gold coin achievement in Silverwastes if you thought the aetherblade JP puzzle was difficult. That one also rewards a mastery point if I remember correctly.
I tried doing this on my engineer first and then realized I would never keep my sanity without switching to my Mesmer for the three coins near the Topsy Turvy. There are too many difficult jumps deep in the mini-JPs for each coin that you sometimes can’t even survive a fall from (to then use Port Entre). Yes, it does reward a Mastery Point.
Yeah. I did it recently to create the table so people could match what they saw on the avhievement panel with what was in Dulfy’s guides. I had no issues doing any of them until I came to that set and only with a particular few. There’s still one left to do which I won’t be doing because it’s probably the worst out of all of them. It’s an alt account anyway so not like I need to complete it.
I felt it was better than what I have seen so far in the series. It may not be like other games series known for excellent story telling (Elder Scrolls), but they are improving and the story telling is getting better. And when I say better, I am in no way implying that it was ever bad in the first place. Just my personal opinion.

Best way to farm Aurillium and Ley-Line crystals is to do the meta events at the beginning and quickly get to 100% participation. Each time you are awarded the meta event chest as the bar progresses, you get 15 of the currency. You are also awarded upwards to 75 currency if you hit T4 by the time the map rolls over to the final meta (gerent or defend tarir). You will also get more currency from wins/failures.
Doing the hero points is great as they each award 10 currency. The random chests also award the map currency as well. Having the Nuhoch mastery, as already mentioned, is worth having and works well with doing events.
I would know as I typically make around 350 Aurillium in AB per cycle and something similar with TD. I can’t remember exactly as I already farmed the currency from TD that I needed to complete the machined weapon collection. I will find out later when I go to complete the last 5 weapons that I need from the Hivemaster collection.

DX12 also requires Windows 10 so any players who would want to see any supposed benefits from it would have to upgrade if they don’t already have it.
Comments like this prove that you are just full of it. Adding DX12 does not in any way mean that players are forced to use it, which would lead to your idea that players are forced to have win 10. Many games have multiple support for dx versions and when they add support for a new version there is not one that I know of that no longer supports the original version. The only reason it would become a win 10 exclusive is because arenanet are morons. Which I don’t think they are.
Ya want to say the devs are not competent enough to add this support or that arenanet/Ncsoft are too cheap to invest in the game fine. But please stop with the FUD. Honestly there is no reason to not do this. As it won’t hurt anything and it won’t force anything. It just adds options. Not sure why anyone is against options. I don’t expect it today but if they allocated just alittle bit of resources it could happen 4th quarter 2016 or some time 2017.
DX12 is Windows 10 exclusive. Do see any benefits from DX12, players will have to be using Windows 10. That exclusivity is because Microsoft made it so. Take it up with them if you have an issue with it rather than blame Anet.
http://m.windowscentral.com/directx-12-will-indeed-be-exclusive-windows-10
I also do not get where you got the idea that players would be forced to use DX12. Nobody has been saying that from what I can recall.
Also changing the system to allow DX12 has costs. Not everything is worth it and especially if adding DX12 will not solve the problems that people have been complaining about.

An opinion is when you think everyone can do it, because you can.
A fact is when you and everyone else has completed it.
I never said that everyone can do it. That’s a skill level outside of the JP itself. I’m just disputing your claim that it is impossible and requires a mesmer.
Thank you for your unsubstantiatable opinion. Now we have two.
It’s actually a fact as it can, and has, been done solo.
These diving locations, have never and still don’t require, anyone but yourself to do them. Mesmers are not needed.
I’ve unlocked all of them but have done so a total of 12 times.

GW2 is not the same as GW1. It’s more complicated so will take many more resources than its predecessor. And all this for minimal mprovements.
You also need to realize that not all games are designed the same. When games have upgraded to a higher DX version, have they all received the EXACT same percentage boost in performance? No, they did not as evidenced by the numerous benchmarks in the past. What may boost performance greatly in one game may barely do so in another. It comes down to how it was designed (remember that GW2 is CPU intensive). And as the dev stated in the Reddit thread, going to DX12 will provide minimal improvements as the issue people are experience resides outside of the render thread.
The dev is an expert in their field with years of experience. They do not need to cite a source and especially since they were talking about GW2 specifically which there will not be a source for. Well not unless they released the source code but good luck with that.
Because he is an expert or have experience it doesn’t mean he is 100% right!
He does with how this game was built which is what I was getting at. I was not talking about just his experience with the subject matter alone. Not all games receive the same boost in performance when upgrading to a higher DX version.

Again, everyone against DX12 is just being silly. Many MMOs upgrade DX versions because its an easy way to make the game look prettier. It is a fact that each version of DX has helped old games look like newer ones. How is that a bad thing. It is also a fact that DX 12 reduces CPU strain for rendering. So even though it won’t help directly with the other CPU calculations it will help ease up total CPU usage. Which will indirectly help reduce the strain from those other CPU calculations. Its already been proven DX 12 does that, it just takes developers that are able to do so. I believe arenanet has those types of developers and I have faith that eventually they will add DX 12. I don’t see why they wouldn’t, it is an easy wway to make the flashy dyes and armors look even better.
It’s not about people being against it. It’s that it will not have as much of an impact as some people here are claiming and not worth the resources when there’s many more important issues to resolve.
Making the game look better is always worth it. Sure not everyone will be able to enjoy the new graphics settings but one of the reasons I play PC games is because of image quality. Even FPS games that I know you get an advantage with all the settings turned down, I still try to max out all the settings. As I just love being immersed in the environments. So IMO anything that has a chance to improve the image quality is worth it.
I disagree with you that there is more important issues to resolve for the team that would be handling something like this. A new DX version is something that every AAA MMO should eventually add support for. Its one of the few ways of staying relevant and adding longevity to games that can last decades. I don’t expect it right away though. The devs would need time to learn the new DX version through self study or classes of some sort and then have time to implement it. But I do expect it by the end of 2016.
I’ll still have to disagree with you. You need to remember that everything has costs and that when you have employees working on one thing, you’re foregoing them from working on another.
Anet requiring account bound items is in no way them promoting players to get scammed. A bit of a reach there.
Edit: Direct link to article failed. Try this.
The two that were interviewed were specifically talking about themselves and not Anet as a whole.
I didn’t catch this yesterday but yes they did specifically talked about Anet as a whole and its pretty clear in the interview.
Maybe. Maybe not. It’s up to interpretation.
Could you perhaps list out exactly what you feel is a “mess” and why rather than there be yet another thread claiming there’s a problem without being constructive?
The HoT area is still very much populated. It’s just that there’s more maps being created and spreading players out than necessary. The problem with waiting though is that a lot of the maps do rely on there being people. If you wait, you’ll run into problems where you will struggle to find people to do anything at all.

Existing players can no longer get the free character slot as it was for pre-purchases only. You can only get this with the deluxe and $100 package.
If you ever plan to spend real money on gems, I suggest going with the $100 package.
