idk, some dps/zerker warriors do it a bit different. some go 0/0/30/10/30 with full zerker armor
CMstorm, I am Charr. I’d love to make u Believe that u have control over me, just to get close enough to make u my dinner. I rarely eat/harm other races but some simply deserve it…
Aria… and u would just dare to touch my cubs! Hmm… perhaps I’ll let MY juvenile pets play with YOUR kids! I happen to be a charr ranger, so I have loads of juveniles…!
Frostfang, I fear you have misunderstood me. You see, I too, am a Charr and by having this ability, it’ll let us Charr come in together to protect one another when we most need it
You gain control of the nearest Charr player and they unwillingly become bound to you for 120 seconds. They shield you from 50% of all incoming damage and they sacrifice themselves for you if you’re about to receive a fatal/killing blow.
I don’t care what we get.. I just want utilities that can be used in PvE that aren’t passive or banners.
Right now, basically the only two utilities that I actually activate are FGJ and Frenzy really.
I’d kill for banners to be placed on back, but I doubt that’s going to happen.
Signets are boring.
Shouts are meh, FGJ is decent.
Banners are only decent for dungeons, hate hauling them around.
Stances are PvP
Physical are PvPNo one uses Physical in PvP.
You are Wrong. Nobody doesn’t not use them. A lot of people use physical skills. All of the physical skills are pretty good, even without Physical Training.
I can see how u get bored with most signets. But that’s kind of what they are. 1 passive effect :P and a decent or good active effect. And stances aren’t just Pvp. they’re pve/dungeons/wvw :P
I’ve never seen any warrior put 30 into strength (GS build) for a while or build something like 30/20/x/x/x or 30/25/x/x/x
most I ever see is 20/x/x/x/x and sometimes they won’t even use that line…
Rangers do have a lot of +power/damage traits and because of pets, there’s just a ridiculous amount of might they can gain from pets/traits and I wouldn’t be surprised if some of that might was nerfed a bit.
Power builds aren’t necessarily bad ya know. But I’ve seen just too many Condi-builds with spirit rangers and short bow/axe+dagger or something like that.
I really like these traits: Strength of Spirit, Bountiful Hunter, Natures Wrath, Steady Focus, Eagle Eye. And frost spirit adds a nice damage boost too.
You could actually do a power axe build with some of those traits and maybe Signet of the Beastmaster if u can manage to keep some of those other +damage traits along with precision and crit damage.
I like how the axe functions on ranger honestly. The damage it does is still meh though.
And i don’t see axe as a condition weapon at all. Shortbow covers it. Actually, Splitblade is pretty decent as a condition skill. 5 stacks of bleed is pretty good on a 6 sec cd.
If I had to, all I would do is add this to the Honed Axes trait: You deal more critical damage when wielding an axe in your main hand. (+10% critical damage) Ricochet has an additional 2 bounces and damage increases after every bounce. (resets after 5th bounce or when you kill a foe) All axe projectiles become guaranteed projectile finishers
I’ve always wondered why Two-handed Training is in the Nature Magic trait line. Wouldn’t you agree that’s not exactly fitting for it? And also i’ve included a little addition to the trait. (Yes, i’m aware that the patch is in 3 days :P)
this is what I might do: combine Two-Handed Training and Martial Mastery IF Two-handed training weren’t getting the fury buff.
(it’d look similar to warrior’s Forceful Greatsword minus the might-gain.)
Two-Handed Training – Your Greatsword and spear attacks deal 5% extra damage. Reduced recharge on sword, spear, and great sword attack skills. 20%.
I almost forgot that Martial Mastery included sword skills too…so idk.
And i might move the new Two-Handed Training into the Skirmishing Line and combine Trapper’s Defense with Healer’s Celerity into Wilderness Survival.
Obviously 2handed training wouldn’t be an adept trait in Skirmishing. It might have to stay as a master trait, but I think i’d move Honed Axes down to adept to fill in the spot where Trapper’s Defense was so Two-Handed Training can be in skirmishing as a master trait.
whoops. i almost forgot about the empty slot in Nature Magic from Two-Handed Training! But i wouldn’t know which trait to move/adjust to fill that slot.
What do you think? Agree?Disagree? maybe?
This would be just a little buff to banners, but since the trait Powerful Banners currently makes banners deal damage when they’re summoned and nothing else, I thought that it should increase the auto-attack damage and the banner Sprint damage by a little (maybe increase the auto-attack damage by 30%? and the sprint damage by 25%) and also the new Powerful Banners trait would trigger a knock back or a small launch (same for the Plant Standard skill)
Im not suggesting at all that it’ll make banners viable or whatever, but to people who do run banners, it’ll be a little more situational to have that. Thoughts?
not all these new healing skills will necessarily be better than the other ones you have…
Um…i don’t think you realize how incredibly bad that would be. You would use Earthshaker and trigger 2 knock backs from the first hit in an instant. which would just be broken. Then you would pull out your sword and leap to your target and cause knock back right after you’ve just got done with Earthshaker. Assuming you mean ANY jump attack skill (leaps) for warrior, that would include Eviscerate, Bulls Charge, Shield Bash, Dash and Seismic Leap. What you are suggesting is simply not a good idea tbh.
Great Fortitude currently gives you a base boost of 600 health. obviously the higher health and strength u have, the higher the boost. But its getting a little buff on the 10th, so don’t worry.
P.s. CC skills aren’t really meant for dealing damage directly, that’s why Earthshaker and Staggering blow are getting a little damage nerf because the damage was a little high.
CC skills are meant to be used to give yourself some extra time to heal or set up attacks; they’re used to interrupt your opponent’s abilities (mainly their heals if u can) and more uses but I can’t think of any more right now…
BUT cc skills are meant to be used so when you do land a stun, say Earthshaker or Skullcrack, you can either use that time to heal/clear some conditions on u, or just go ham with auto attacks and finish with an eviscerate
I think some people here don’t really understand what CULTURAL means…
that’s pretty solid, Nay n thanks
Lets just say I really wanted to be a vampiric necromancer (minus the melee range/dagger) and I ran axe/focus with 20(ii, viii)/20(v, x)/0/20(ii, v)/10(iv)
Im running both exotic assassin stats on axe and focus. Superior sigil of perception on the focus and Superior Sigil of Blood on the axe. My food is Omnomberry Ghost and Potent Master Maintenace Oil.
My gear/runes are full exotic assassin with 4 runes of vampirism (don’t judge me) and 2 assassin crests.
actually I’ll just link it instead… :P http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQRAnd4YjMaF7VbabMcKiJFczbQKcftiUgMlRVAeA-jgyAYuASRAJMAJyioxWOHiWXIsqJMdJgedR1e8ioVLFg5CjA-e
yeah it’s weird to have runes of vampirism, but why not? it’s a pretty glassy build but i really want to run an axe siphon build because even though dagger does more dps, but why land a crit and steal health in melee when u can do it with range :o :P
Suggestions to it to make it better/more survivable with life steal/crit? or should I just drop it entirely and roll something else? XD
1. GS + sword/focus
2. No spirit weapons, just retreat, judge intervention, fill
3. you can but it’ll be slower leveling
4. retail doesnt work that well lower level. Get 15 in radiance first, then 5 in virtues, then 10 in zeal, then rest in valor
5. dont run defender flame, dont run any condition builds ever
6. invul is not a block
awesome, i was already running GS sword/focus. and thanks for the rest
1. K So i’ve already rolled a guardian but he’s about lvl 30-ish last time i checked…and I want something decent to level him up faster, besides having food buffs, banner buffs, exp boosters/bday booster, etc. I think my best bet would be just to follow some chain event zergs or get my guild to help lvl me up. Those probably are way better if I can tag stuff.
2. But if i’m just solo roaming or in a small party, should I just build into power and run spirit weapons? I know a lot of this is up to me and however I want, but I want to be able to level up decently fast if people around me can’t always help out. (I could also just level up cook/chef but there’s more reward from running around killing stuff.)
3. I’d also love to know how under-leveled can I be in higher lvl zones and still get exp from mobs?
4. How much can retaliation stack? (experimental question) Because If i run into a big mob with Renewed Justice and 25 in Virtues with Vengeful and Retaliatory Subconscious and activating VoJ, the Might stacks that you build affect the effectiveness of retaliation right? because it’s based off of your power and it should increase the damage retaliation does. It seems like VoJ is a fairly strong skill if you want to put 30 into virtues for Permeating Wrath and have some condition damage when running into decent sized melee mobs…
2 more questions: does Defenders Flame stack with runes of the guardian? not suggesting that that is a good thing to do, but i was just curious.
dumb question: Invulnerable is just a state/effect right? it just prevents all incoming attacks/damage/CC. it doesn’t count as a “block” does it?

I wonder what Anet has in store for GW2 with all the other currently unexplorable zones: Ring of Fire, Crystal Desert/Scavengers Causeway, Deldrimor Front, Isles of Janthir, Blazeridge Mountains, Blood Legion Homelands, Far Shiverpeaks, Maguuma Wastes, Woodland Cascades, Magus Falls, Dominion of Wind, Tarnished Coast. am i forgetting any other areas?
But I imagine they’ve had to have been talking about it at least. And it’s fine that something won’t happen anytime soon because it’s a lot. But maybe we could expect one, maybe two sometime in 2014, or if they’re just focused on the Living Story (for the most part) that’s fine too. I’m just curious about like 50% of the map that’s yet to be explored
umm…some of those skills are okay, but really?
It’s cultural armor for a reason…
I kinda liked the change they made to it, but now I’m not so sure. Personally, I think it should get reworked sometime in the future to something like: Covers a large area and enemies entering are knocked down(1sec) and inflicted with cripple(6sec) weakness(3sec) and vulnerability(3sec). Knockdown is triggered every 3 seconds.
Cooldown… ?
Watch out!: Grant 300/600/900 toughness to nearby allies for 4 seconds, no cd, costs adrenaline.
To great Justice: For 15 seconds get double adrenaline (35 sec cd).
Dragon hit: Deal 1.5/2.5/3.5* Damage, no cd, costs adrenaline, generates 15 adrenaline based on the adrenaline used afterwards
I kinda like Watch Out!
rename To Great Justice. sounds too much like For Great Justice. and plus, To Great Justice used to be the old Berserkers Stance. I think it lasted for 20 seconds and you gained extra adrenaline on a 40 sec cd. But there’s already a ton of traits and skills that give bonus adrenaline on hit/crit/skill use for warrior.
Dragon Hit is a maybe
so…do we need to buff Invulnerability? :o
when/ IF glory is removed (it’s not completely decided yet as that’s still being developed) then I say that some new pvp currency should be implemented next to earning gold from matches. For example, the new currency/rank might be called something like Honor, or Prestige, or Reputation, etc. Then there might be new titles to be earned for how much of the new rank or currency you gain in Pvp.
I also liked the Daily Pvp stats/achievements like: Assaulter, Defender, Neutralizer, Capturer, Teammate revivals. and some of the map specific stats: Cannon shooter, Communer, Trebuchet hits, Trebuchet destroyer/repairer, Orbs captured, NPC’s/Lord Killed, Forest Creatures killed. I really love those stats and I’d like to see those implemented as actually achievements with tiers/titles in the future because the Pvp Conqueror achievements right now are kind of boring/bland, but the titles you can earn are pretty cool.
I know all you guys want a lot of things in Pvp to get fixed class-wise and all these “broken mechanics” that you keep complaining about, but you’re looking at Pvp as if it’s completely separate from GW2 entirely…When you say that Anet “hasn’t done anything to fix this or that. this is still broken OP etc” its so ignorant. I know you wish Anet would spend more time on the Pvp, so do I, but they’ve added so much content and improved the game overall, fixing tons of bugged events in Pve and dungeons, etc. And it’s completely okay if you just play Pve or only Pvp. there’s nothing wrong with that. But I hope you realize that there’s so much more important content/value to the game than just Pvp that Anet is working with to keep the game fun, interesting, challenging and changing/dynamic etc etc…
I want to echo my previous question from another thread, but when should we be expecting the rank system to be removed? If you are really going to follow through with this then we’d like to know how long we have to finish getting our desired ranks/if they’re worth going for at all.
its not going to happen for a while. maybe sometime next year but not anytime soon. It’s a big change they’re making and you don’t have to worry about it happening overnight
Right now, all the maps feel decently sized and 5v5 (maybe 6v6) seems like a fair amount of players for the maps. But for most of the Hotjoin matches, 7v7+ seems a little overwhelming for some of the maps and maybe sometime next year there could be larger Hotjoin maps so it feels more spread out like a 5v5.
And there may be some new maps from the Pvp developer Livestream awhile ago where they showed some really interesting layouts and prototype maps they had in mind, like Encampment, Creek, Fortress (or citadel/castle i don’t remember :P) and there was a map with a Charr-like theme/Black Citadel.
I know many people have been talking about new maps/modes etc and I agree with them completely and i’m sure there are new maps coming up in the future. But something i’d like to see implemented is a more customizable match setup (and not just spending a lot of money on gems to buy the Custom arena) maybe a custom tournament setup (not like the custom arena setup though) it would let u decide if u wanted 5v5, 6v6, 7v7, or 8v8 match on larger maps…
Still keep playing though :P the changes won’t happen for a long time. You could possibly get tiger rank if you keep doing tpvp matches or just Solo queue or even hot joins (except for Skyhammer farming because that’s not a match. that’s just dumb)
…you never gained rank through glory…never
Signet of Attunement + Written in Stone would be really nice.
Signet of Spite is the one of the most broken skills in the game imo. A range skill 0.75 sec cast time with little tele to it that puts basically puts all the condis in the game on you. I would not mind it that much if the cripple on it only lasted like 3-4 seconds not 10 whole seconds…..
That cripple also gives them so much more time to spam there scepter one which has no travel time and puts at least 4 condis that basically take half your health bar due to passive traits (since we need more passives in the game…). Also a 10 sec weakness.. really? Weakness hard counters dps builds. Necros really need to be looked at I would not mind it as much if there was some travel time to some of there skills, so I could actually dodge there kitten. Also the amount of condi transfers they have right now are ridiculous.
most of the conditions from Signet of Spite aren’t really that harmful unless they’re coming from a pure conditionmancer who just popped Blood Is Power before casting SoS. I’ll agree the base durations are a bit on the slightly longer duration side. but the only conditions that’ll really hurt you are bleeding, poison, and maybe weakness. You can walk off a 5 sec blind or just use an auto-attack to clear it.
btw…necromancer is supposed to be a “corruptive” class
Ranger: Healing Spirit
Guardian: Healing Weapon
Warrior: Healing Shout
Thief: Healing Venom
Elementalist: Healing… Conjure? o.o :O x.X Probably not
Engineer: Healing gadget, maybe an injector of some sort?
Mesmer: Healing PHANTASM WUT?! NerfPLX, Summon Phantasmal Cleric.
Necro: Healing Spectral skill.Lets see how many I get right. crosses fingers
healing conjure: Frost Bow You must mean a Healing Utility slot for a conjure
i love the more competitive side of GW2 pvp though I’ll easily say I’m not among the more skillful players. Im about an average player striving to get rewarded/ranks truly based on skill and contributing support to my team even if I’m not always jumping on every single player just to get rewarded, (which is getting changed, thank god) rather than time spent. Though, getting rewarded for how much time you put into it is nice for the Cassy G’s (Casual Gamers.)
I’m all for more organized/balanced teams vs an equal/similar rather than “some highs and some lows on a team” though when Anet made that change, it was a decent step in the right direction, but ranks do mean little now, sadly. and they’ll be non-existent after the future change to pvp glory and rank rewards. But you will be rewarded with a title or so that honors your progress u made in pvp.
it can also be annoying when you’re fighting a team that all has the same name, same race, and similar facial features. the light armor classes would wear the exact same armor/weapons and dyes. same with the heavy armor classes XD
It is…
I liked the map when it came out but as soon as I found out about how you can easily gain glory/rank in it by the exploit, I knew it was already going downhill from there…
But who knows. maybe this change will be good, maybe it won’t. Im still undecided about it.
that’s kinda nice, but I wonder if it’ll get removed
I like the sword attacks, especially Harvest. Because if your target pops stability or a stun break, you still apply immob.
haha i didn’t even notice the shield/shield combo XD
or just stupid random letters or people that have i’s and l’s so their name looks like a barcode :P
I’m scared. even if it is months down the road…I still like being able to feel rewarded when i earn new skins from matches.
Back in the early day when tpvp rewarded gems, I wish i would’ve gotten in on that, but it was a good thing it was removed. Now… i’m really ticked off that I didn’t save my reward chests or most of my glory, because glory will go bye-bye if it does
Im assuming the change is because of all the sky hammer farmers
Im pretty sure the change is being implemented because of the Skyhammer farmers. I mean that’s how I see it. But before Skyhammer came out, I felt that I had actually earned my way up through the ranks, being able to craft or use new armor/weapon skins and it was rewarding because you started off with crappy starter skins and as you gained rank points and new ranks, you were able to get better skins. The higher rank finishers were also cool to see before people started Skyhammer farming.
I love Glory being Pvp currency and I hope it doesn’t actually end up getting removed. Glory just feels right for Pvp imo.
Getting armor in Pve is generally easy if you are just going for skins below lvl 80 (transmute stones/crystals). But in Pvp, you do have to earn your way through the ranks to get that CoF armor.
One thing that bothered me was earning the cultural skins in Pvp. Yeah you had to be a super high rank and it just seemed impossible to ever earn because you needed SO MANY rank points to get it I was hoping that the rank points you earn in tpvp would be significantly increased depending on your contribution to your team/support/win etc. 500 rank points just isn’t enough in tpvp even if u did win every single match.
Overall the change sounds very rough and not nearly as rewarding just because you’ll then be able to xfer armor/weapon skins to and from Pvp. Earning the skins in Pvp is what makes it unique imo… on the side, it’s also nice that you can get the skins from the Living Story content and holiday item skins as well in Pvp.
Yes, but no…
Berserker Stance didn’t work against Agony. Why should Diamond Skin? As far as I know, the only thing to protect you from agony besides dodging, agony resist, or any kind of special items like the crystals during the Jade Maw, is Invulnerability of course
Grog, i kinda like your ideas, but in no way should a warrior have protection on top of being the class with the highest health pool and base toughness. Warrior’s Endurance would simply be op even on a 60 sec cd. would the healing scale? or would it just give a flat bonus? I could see something along the lines of that as an Elite Skill/stance, but if you get low on health, you could just use whirling axe in a huge mob and instantly be at full hp all because you hit like 15+ enemies multiple times…
I like To the Limit, but it’s too similar to Burst Mastery. Warrior’s cunning is pretty much the same as Signet of Might.
P.s. I like your enthusiasm for GW1 skills…but there’s just no way that would happen to incorporate some of them into GW2… :/
I could agree with you Bombsaway, but maybe you haven’t heard of an elementalist.
Does any1 else notice the effect it applies when it stops an enemy? it places something like magnetic aura on you, only for like a split second though. but its noticeable
while we’re on the topic of DS, do you think that there should be different DS skills depending on the weapons you’re currently holding? Maybe the current DS skills would apply to staff, and dagger might have something a little more melee-oriented, but with a slightly larger melee range/radius. Axe DS might have a larger Aoe cleave auto-attack OR an auto-attack like the risen’s shadow orb. If u don’t know what that is, it looks like the Ele’s vapor blade, except its green and fires 3 projectiles.
A change like this might be nice, but there would have to be a lot to rework/test
I’ve noticed that the kralkachocolate bar does affect the necro healing power, but the Sharpening Stones don’t affect the healing power when you have the Death Into Life minor trait, at least it doesn’t affect the healing power bonus in the gw2 build editors online.
If it doesn’t really affect the heal scaling from the trait at all, it probably should be fixed asap. Maybe it just got overlooked, idk.
I agree with u killah. But I see healing signet and mending working better in Pve because of all the OP runes/sigils/food giving insta 25 might
i’ve never paid much attention to it, but is Bulls Charge able to pass through/hit targets in your line of sight and still hit your target?
Are you still able to block/reflect a piercing projectile, except if it’s Unblockable, right?
And how many times can a projectile be reflected? i’m sure it can only be reflected once, because you wouldn’t be able to lay down two Walls of Reflection and have a hundred throwables/ranged weapons bouncing back and forth all day :P
