Blood is Power isn’t a meaningful group utility when Warrior brings 25 might permanently solo, or just fire fields + blast finishers, and BiP is such short duration it actually hurts the might stacking due to pushing off higher duration mights.

You mean like the long duration might stacks from Phalanx Strength?

I hope you weren’t being sarcastic and implying PS warrior clones short might duration into the group. A PS warrior with strength runes is a guaranteed 25 might stacks every 100 blades, and the might won’t fall off thanks to 100b having such a short cd with forceful greatsword.

And forceful greatsword is just a chilling force on steroids with no low uptime conditional (necro doesn’t have the uptime of chill to the degree a warrior is critting).

PSEA warriors are horrendously broken. 25 permanent might stacks in one button pres, 170 power+ condi damage (banner), 170 precision+ferocity (banner), 150 power from empowered allies, and the best group resurrection skill in the game (since the ranger elite spirit was nerfed into oblivion despite the fact the spirit had a cast time to spawn and another cast time to rez, courtesy of the always wonderful spvp whine breaking one class/spec at a time).

So long as PSEA warriors and eles with persisting flames continue to exist as is, all other classes and their lesser might/fury generation skills will be obsolete and suboptimal.

They need to nerf ele fire field uptime and the might duration from blasting the field (or alternatively put a cap on the amount of blasts per field, it’s way too easy to cap might with a single field). And Phalanx Strength/Forceful Greatsword need a nerf as well, while the stat contribution from warrior banners need to be given to other classes as well so having a warrior in the party isn’t mandatory).

Are you grossly exaggerating, or am I missing something? Hundred Blades hits 9 times, and sure as hell doesn’t generate 3 stacks per hit.

You do with 3+ targets.

Against a single boss you still give the party 25 perma might because PS clones any might you gain into allies. You get 9 from 100b on a single target+3 for great justice.

A PSEA warrior runs with eles. An ele sets down lava font as part of his rotation. he generates 6 stacks of might from arcane brilliance and arcane wave on it, plus everytime somebody else blasts the field.

So those 6 stacks he aoe buffed the party with, you cloned unto the party for 12. This is a conservative estimate.

The point is your group will never run out of 25 might stacks with a PSEA warrior around. ESPECIALLY with cleave.

Either way 9 might stacks aoe on a single target from 100b is absurd, necro gets an aoe 8 stacks of might for 8 seconds on a 30 sec cd as a UTILITY SKILL.

Doesn’t PS only clone the might stacks you generate yourself?

"Eternal Champion" vs "Foot in the Grave"

Foot in the Grave is a stun breaker, Eternal Champion is a preventative measure. Y’know, just like Infusing Terror.

Wish infusing terror lasted for as long as we are in shroud. They even have 10% attack speed to add on top of it if I recall correctly. 5% less than reapers onslaught but still… they got a hell of a spec.

Yes, they did, but honestly, in this case, they just got something that we already had that was good. I’m all in favor of complaining that warriors get everything, but we definitely don’t compare poorly to this new thing, since we basically got it too, just with a different, but equally easy to access, activator.

Numbers from beta are not indicative of the final product and are subject to change.

God kitten , why do people have so much trouble realizing this? If the damage is so low as to be useless, it will be buffed. If it’s so high as to be overpowered, it will be nerfed. The point of the beta is to figure this stuff out. The only thing we know about any numbers from HoT is that the numbers we’ve seen are not accurate.

Update Life blast to Plague blast Why not?

in Necromancer

Captain Unusual.9163

Having condition transfer on shroud was something I was playing with when doing the trait revamp. Plague Sending originally used shroud 1 as its trigger condition rather than critical hit. I ended up changing it because shroud 1 already had several traits that affected it and I didn’t want to overload it, plus the curses line had several traits that affected shroud in some way already. I think it would be a bit overpowered though if Life Blast could transfer conditions on every hit though.

On the topic of increasing the cast speed of Life Blast: I think we would need to lower the damage multiplier if we wanted to increase the cast speed. The damage per second on that skill at its current cast time is already about as high as we are comfortable with. It’s a tricky skill to balance because we’d need to also look at adjusting all the traits that affect it.

I think it would definitely be worth it to drop the damage per hit a bit while also lowering the cast time proportionally, for the sake of condition necros. Reaper’s Shroud works so beautifully with Dhuumfire, but Death Shroud is really lackluster with it, due to its extremely long cast times. It would make F1 more attractive offensively to conditionmancers than its current state, which is mostly just pressing 235 as fast as possible, and sometimes using it as a health sponge.

Arena net: Robert Gee,

I want to ask you a quick question with answer. Whenever i play necromancer: a enemy player reset my death shroud when i want to activate it.. Is there a way to prevent the resetting of deathshroud of activating?

I asked before and i even post in a thread: everyone ignore me.

That’s because your question doesn’t make sense. I have no idea what you’re trying to ask. It doesn’t make sense either grammatically or in terms of game mechanics.

Elite specs meant to change class mechanics?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: Captain Unusual.9163

Captain Unusual.9163

So far, of the five previewed, only Necromancer and Guardian elite specs actually change their class mechanics. Rev, Ele, and Mesmer elite specs all just add on extra buttons that, if you felt like it, you could totally ignore and play the class the same as before but with a different trait line.

Reaper’s Shroud and the new DH virtues are great design. They’re similar to the base class mechanic, but different enough that you need to treat them as a fundamentally different ability.

Chronomancers, Heralds, and Tempests don’t need to treat their class mechanics differently. If a Chrono doesn’t press his f5 button, the rest of his shatters work the same. If a herald doesn’t use glint or his f2, he can just be a normal revenant. If a tempest doesn’t reactivate their attunement, then they’re unchanged from the base Elementalist.

Why does the elite spec not even function the same between classes?

Infusing Terror (RS3) - Stunbreaker?

Captain Unusual.9163

Though, on the side of new skills, they could be balanced around DS/RS as being a different state. As in, limited time, and perhaps requiring a set percentage of LF to be used. That way it’s still balanced in terms of risk/reward. Because using pre-existing skills, there wouldn’t be much risk in using them, only reward. And I think that risk is necessary if we are to get utilities/heal/elite in shroud.

No profession has a “risk” in using their utility skills…other than them being on cool down after use…at least no profession currently in game. Why should necromancers/reapers be any different. Surely you aren’t trying to say that DS/RS is so powerful that we should be penalized for it? If people/developers really believe that…then take away the extra hp and let DS/RS function like an engineer’s kit. I’d gladly trade away some extra health that evaporates in seconds of being focused…in favor of actually getting to play a fully functional profession…versus half a profession at a time.

Revenant, a different profession that can have an entirely different utility bar, has risk in using those skills because of energy cost. If we get utilities in shroud, it should use a percentage of LF for each skill. I think it’d be fair

Have you seen the cooldowns on revenant utilities?

Legendary Dwarf Stance. Legendary Demon Stance. Legendary Centaur Stance. Legendary Assassin Stance. Legendary Dragon Stance.

Which of these is not like the others? That’s right, Legendary Assassin Stance. It’s the only one that refers to a profession, rather than a race. The revenant celebrates Shiro for being an assassin, because he’s a human, while assuming that all dwarves, demons, centaurs, and dragons are interchangeable.

“Who’s Shiro?” one might ask. “An assassin,” a revenant would answer.
“Who’s Jalis?” one asks. “Just some fooking dorf,” the revenant replies.
“Who’s Ventari?” “A filthy animal.”

It’s disgusting. Revenants have no place in a game as inclusive and accepting as this one. Either the Legendary Assassin Stance needs to be renamed to Legendary Human Stance, or the other four need their names updated.

no we’re not the only ones. Ele have trait that you can keep the passive of signets when you use them+decrease cd when signets already have 20-25sec cd. no OP at all. our signets that have 60sec and180sec cd no such trait. all the OP staff for Ele cause Necro drew the short straw

I had forgotten about that ele trait, but I still feel that our signet actives are quite a bit stronger than theirs. And we literally only have 2 signets with long cd’s, the rest are at 30/35. Necromancers have a lot of problems, but bad signet skills are not one of them.

Infusing Terror (RS3) - Stunbreaker?

in Necromancer

Captain Unusual.9163

I’ll take the unpopular stance and say that it doesn’t really need to be a stun break, and probably shouldn’t be. It’s an obscenely strong stability skill as is, essentially making you immune to all CC for 8-10 seconds. It has a strength that other stability skills don’t, because the stability regenerates. If an ele pops Armor of Earth, a single boon strip/corrupt can counter it. But a boon strip/corrupt won’t really do much against Infusing Terror, because the stability builds back up. I know we all hate compensation nerfs, but in this case, the skill not being a stun break is warranted because of its huge advantages over other stability skills.

We have Infusing Terror, which is functionally identical to a break bar. It builds up protection from multiple CC effects, and keeps regenerating as Stability is stripped away. It makes us more or less immune to CC unless we take a bunch of them all at once, and if the thing doesn’t break, the stability builds back up.

Actually, it’s better than a break bar, since if we do actually get it all stripped away and something gets through, it’s more likely to be a 0.25 second thief daze or a 1 second mesmer stun, and not a guaranteed 2 second stun with 25 vuln stacks.

It doesn’t sound like you’re turning the tides of battle to crush your foes, it sounds like you’re just explaining to some students that they’re all not particularly strong. It’s more like “You are ALL weaklings.” than “You are all WEAKLINGS!”

Also, protip, don’t write “weaklings” a whole bunch of times at once, it starts to look like a very, very silly word.

Captain Unusual.9163

I am with Lily on this. Reaper Shroud, shouts, and GS will marginalize axe even further than it is.

Necromancer has a lot of weapons that support power builds with only scepter and staff (maybe) supporting condition damage builds.

That is why I favor reworking axe into a close range hybrid power condition damage weapon so it has a niche to fill, again.

Axe with vulnerability stacking is fine I’m solo MM or small groups without the Reaper line where vulnerability stacks do not cap but this line of caveats is becoming longer every year.

Axe needs something to make it special and a damaging condition would do that.

A lot of power build weapons? There’s Dagger, Greatsword, and some offhands that can be useful with any spec.

Condi Reaper + Dhuumfire = Love

in Necromancer

Posted by: Captain Unusual.9163

Captain Unusual.9163

I’ve actually found Dhuumfire to be effective on power builds.

It’s like this: on a zerker build, Death’s Perception and Decimate Defenses are redundant. You only need one to cap out crit chance, so you can swap out the other for a different traits. Personally I go with Decimate Defenses, since that works outside of shroud, too. That leaves me with either foot in the grave or Dhuumfire for the SR elite.

At maximum might, which is VERY easy to reach on the Shroud Knight build, Burning does 248 damage per tick. 3 ticks, 25% vulnerability, this comes to 930 additional damage per swipe. Against a 2600 armor target, you’ll be doing about 2.5k / 2.5k / 5.1k per each auto attack chain, so this actually adds up to about 37% / 37% / 18% damage increase.

Hm, it never actually occurred to me that a power build still gets a lot of condition damage from all the might stacks.

The faster attacks of RS#1 and the vuln stacking of the Unyielding Blast trait are great. You can stack a ton of vuln, especially if you add in some of the traits from the Spite line. However, the trait description says it adds pierce, which is incorrect. It only adds pierce on Death Shroud, not Reaper Shroud. This is obvious as RS has cleave instead, but I want to bring it to the attention of any Dev reading this. The pierce should be baseline for DS#1 as otherwise this trait behaves differently between RS and DS.

It could very well be adding pierce to any projectiles fired when casting RS1, it’s just that there’s no projectiles there. Basically, RS1 has the pierce included baseline because it’s melee.

Still always gonna have a soft spot for Necro and will still play it from time to time but… This was the final straw. Time to play a class that doesn’t suck at everything.

Arena Net is using this test to get feedback on the reaper. I’d suggest saving your “I quit forever!” comment until the final product. If you feel you need to take a break from the profession, thats fine. I feel that way from time to time. But we have to remember that the reaper we’re seeing in beta isn’t the same as the reaper they currently have. Think of this reaper as version 0.5 and not the final product.

Ooh, I need to try this. Is there any way to get sinister gear onto the beta characters after making them, or do I need to delete them all to get some in the bank?
