Previously, he was going into first battery phase 2-3 minutes into the event. Now, he’s going into it 8-9 minutes in. That is far more than just double health.
You need to use the Sun charge skill to charge into him and break the shield.
Bleed them and chase off anyone who tries to help them. It’s better to leave an enemy bleeding and downed but alive, than it is to kill them, let them respawn, and go be useful elsewhere.
I think overall the changes are good to necro. However compare to other classes it’s underwhelming. Yesterday I was messing with my ele and found out spaming 1111111111 gives you 25stack of might…..
…that’s not a new trait, yo.
I, too, am angry that people are having so much fun. Fun is absolutely not what I want out of this game.
It wouldn’t appear on your character sheet, since it’s a bonus against specific targets based on how many conditions they have.
My game crashed during Vinewrath three times.
Other than that, it’s been a blast. Tried Necro and Warrior so far, and pve condition specs are crazy fun. I don’t know how much exactly pve condi necro got buffed, but it feels a lot stronger now.
That is pretty good to hear. I’ll probably mess around with the pve side tomorrow.
it’s interesting because it seems that conditions are actually viable now. I’m getting ready to try, tequatl, i’ll see how that goes. We could be considered a big force multiplier with epidemic….maybe, we’ll just have to see how it goes. But so far my dire condition necro is doing wonderful….and here comes the flack for not using something glass. -_-
Hey, you get to turn that toughness into more condition damage. With Rune of the Undead and the gm curse minor, 20% of that toughness becomes condi damage. I don’t know if it’s worth the loss of 45% bleed duration, but it could be good.
direct damage has had it’s time. time for condi to shine.
No, direct damage should ALWAYS be the main way to inflict damage. Conditions should just be a little extra.
Why? I’m interested in why you think half the damage in the game shouldn’t be useful.

Conditions mostly seem OP at the moment because every spec across the board got buffed, but everyone is using conditions right now because they’re new. Let things settle down, then we’ll be at a more even split between conditions and damage.
Why am I having so much fun right now?
Where are you getting that bleed formula? The dev post here:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/June-23-Specialization-Changes/first
Says it’s .075+26. That’s only 220 condi damage to break even.
Check the patch notes for today.
Can we just stop for a moment to appreciate how wonderful the icon for this trait is?
The preview a week ago had it at 2+(0.3*Level)+(0.075 * Condition Damage), but the patch notes today are showing 2 + (0.25 * Level) + (0.06 * Condition Damage).
Torment and Confusion are also lower than previewed.
Why the huge nerf? Should conditions still not be viable in pve?
I’m not at all surprised by this. It would have been nice to get the 10% bonus all the time, but it would make no sense whatsoever for the Axe Training trait to be the best trait when not using axes.
eww…..you’re defending this kitten trait.
giving it a condition (vuln on enemy) for the 10% was good enough for a master trait. as is now, you have to spend a trait to make a weapon w/ garbage damage 10% less garbage….and still useless.
Oh, don’t get me wrong, the trait is kitten and axe is totally worthless. I’m just saying that, from a design perspective, it would be all sorts of stupid to make the axe training trait better for literally every other weapon.
There’s a party waiting in Silverwastes for you right now.

Hi!
I just wanted to say I have mixed feelings about devs communicating and giving news on other forums like reddit, without the news being given here.
Sure, it IS great when devs do communicate but shouldn’t it be mainly in these forums here instead?
Have you ever read these forums? I wouldn’t want to come here if I had anything important to say.
If you really want to make yourself feel bad, compare Axe 2 or Dagger 3 to other profession’s skills. Both of them are objectively worse than every comparable skill, and yet here we are.
Dagger 3? A ranged, non projectile immobilize on a high damage melee weapon with a longer duration than any other immobilize weapon skill in the game? How is that objectively worse?
And as for BiP vs. Empower, they’re not really valid to compare. Empower locks you into using staff, which, aside from that one ability, is pretty lousy at everything. BiP is a utility, and can be paired with whatever high damage weapon you want. Empower also has a very long and easily interrupted cast time, while BiP has a 0.75 second cast.
When you put in a buy order, you can always take the order back down with no loss. However, for very expensive items like that, fewer buy orders are filled than sell orders. Additionally, if it’s an item that is no longer available, and thus has a very small supply, it is not rare for no buy orders to ever be filled.
So, for Black/White dyes, you can try for a buy order, and if it doesn’t work after a few days, take the order down and use the gold to just buy it instantly. But if you’re looking for something like an Enameled or Toxic dye, that no longer has an increasing supply, a buy order is not going to ever be filled.
Some do have special projectiles, like Marjory’s Dagger. So far, all the Gem Store weapon skins have been weapons that other characters used in game, so they’ll all be made to fit the theme of the character using it, and typically won’t be insanely huge or flashy because that’s a bit tacky on an important story character.
It’s only 60 if you have a level 20 tome from a character’s birthday.
The only real nerf is to consume conditions. Pretty much everything else is a huge improvement.
What about plague and lich? plague is practically unusable for condi buids.
Lich got gutted pretty bad, I can’t defend that. Its duration was unimpressive before, and now, even with the trait, it’s still unimpressive. Plague’s nerf isn’t honestly as big a deal as people make it out to be. The pulsing 2 second self bleed means a permanent 2 stacks of bleeding on yourself, while at the same time, you get approximately double health and quadruple toughness. 2 permanent bleeds while you’re running around with 40,000 health is not going to kill you. And, of course, Plague now gets a huge 33% cooldown reduction trait, and plague sending can trigger while in plague in case you do get loaded up with bleeds.
I agree, although I would settle with simply being able to see the cooldowns of my 6-0 skills.
That’s literally exactly what OP suggested.
Which is, of course, something that we sorely need.
Doooooooooomed!
I’m just about ready to drive my truck into a lake over these changes.
I’m sure this is entirely accurate and they are done announcing new zones, features, and abilities.
I thought it was implied on barbed precision that due to target the weak giving 2% crit now instead of damage you could get crit too high.
If you currently go into Curses you get an additional ~14,3% crit chance from the 300 precision the trait line provides. That is the equivalent of having 7 conditions on your target with the new Target the Weak, which will barely ever happen in PvP.
.
Except that the extra crit is being rolled into base stats and equipment.
What’s the point of FGS champ train now? It gives champ bags at such a slow rate compared to SW.
Okay, OP. Take a deep breath, and leave your computer. Go for a walk. Eat a Snickers. You’re not you when you’re hungry. Come back, and calmly try asking your question again.
When you say “best possible equipment”, do you mean best stats, or best looks?
Because the best stat equipment is Ascended, which you need to craft by getting the relevant crafting skill to 500. However, Ascended gear is a whopping 5% better than Exotic gear, so most people just use exotic, because it’s a LOT cheaper. You can get exotic gear many ways; through crafting at 400 skill level, through purchase with dungeon tokens, karma, or badges of honor, and, of course, by buying them on the trading post.
The items you see on the trading post that are so insanely expensive aren’t the best stat items, they’re just extremely rare skins, that you can just apply to your gear obtained through other means.
(Yes, legendary weapons have ascended stats, but it’s far cheaper to craft an ascended weapon than a legendary if you just want the stats.)
Note that you can throw those unsalvageable items into the Mystic Forge for a chance at a new item that you can either use or salvage (although you will sometimes get an item that ALSO cannot be salvaged).
In which case save it until you have enough of same and reforge! The forge is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you will get!
And the more times you look into it, the fewer chocolates there are!
I really wish it were something like OP’s option B or C. I like the trait, and think it’ll be fun to play with, but the update does nothing whatsoever to help condition necros generate life force, which has always been their biggest weakness.
Oh I still hate the Curses changes. Honestly Its absolutely terrible. And consume condition is just dreadful. As he was talking about Master of corruption I just couldn’t help but think “You can’t be serious?” Everyone is talking about how terrible this trait is. NO ONE is praising it! NO ONE wants to run it!
I do, and I am. It looks like a fun trait. With conditions getting better across the board, a corruption/condi transfer build looks like it could be extremely fun.
Or does “NO ONE” just mean you and the posts you prefer to read?
120 stacks of bleed on a lord, Necro presses one key and instantly kills 5 dudes? Sounds like it won’t cause any problems.
Will we ever be able to get Sinister, Zealot’s, Nomads, or Sentinel’s stats from items with a drop down menu, like Mawdrey? Or from selectable stat ascended chests like the one from Bioluminescence?
broken promises, empty promises everywhere!
said mending would be physical, then never happened.
As we mentioned nearly every other breath during the initial livestream, things are subject to change.
Maybe you need to mention it more? Add an extra person to all the livesteams, just chanting “Subject to change” in the background.
You kind of just need to faff about a bit behind his butt, rolling when you can. Sometimes you’ll get the achievement when not rolling, or when feared, or downed or something. It’s really not a very clear attack; I’m not entirely sure it exists.
But OP, it’s cooldown is 5 seconds longer and it gives us some vuln after the cast! Necros don’t have any way to take advantage of that. Might as well just delete my character, uninstall the game, and drive my car into a lake.
The new lingering curse works pretty much like the current one, only 100% increase instead of 33%, and 150 condition damage on top. Its basically just a super-upgraded version of our current one, that allows for 20 second duration bleeds on AA. I’m guessing it will be really useful for soloing.
The thing is with the loss of 30% it’s a bit harder too reach that 100% bleeding duration.
45% from Krait runes, 20% minor trait, 20% from sigil of agony or 40% from food, and you’re pretty much capped.
You can no longer go part way into a trait line. You pick 3 lines, and get everything in them. So yeah, it’s kind of like being forced to go 6/6/6.
Starting PvE heal has been changed to Mending
what this means?
When you make a warrior, you start with Mending equipped, instead of the current starting heal skill. Basically only matters in the level 1 instance.
As a Necromancer, I have no complaints about this. Makes up for the movement skill buff.
They couldn’t help it, literally nothing they could have done about it.
Quiet, you, it’s obviously a conspiracy.
Ye what about Shelter as Mora asked? Is it going to be under the meditations category or consecrations category?
Shelter will not be getting a skill category. It would probably need to be adjusted in someway if we did do it – and it’s fine where it is right now.
Wasn’t the goal for every skill to have a category? Why leave that one alone?
Also, we get Terror back as a Master level, so we don’t need to choose between it and LC or PC.
And Blood looks kittening fantastic now.
I’m just happy I get to see them before I go to work.
The area of mark skills has been increased to 240. Mark skill recharges have been reduced by 20%. Mark damage has been increased by 10%.
What
Consume Conditions: This skill is now considered a corruption skill and applies 10 stacks of vulnerability to you for 4 seconds after use. Increased recharge to 30 seconds.
WHAT THE kitten
Plague: This skill is now considered a corruption skill and applies 1 stack of bleeding for 2 seconds to you every second it is active.
WHAT THE kitten IS GOING ON. Can someone please tell me another elite that actively hurts you while using it.
Plague and Consume Conditions now benefit from the amazing 33% cooldown reduction corruption trait. And Plague can now transfer conditions to your foes with plague sending.
Plague doubles your health when you use it, a constant 2 stacks of bleed on yourself isn’t going to change a fight ever. Except for when it helps proc Plague Sending, making Plague essentially immune to conditions, which were its main weakness.
Consume Conditions now benefits from a 33% cooldown reduction trait. And combos amazingly well with Plague Sending.
And was honestly a tad overpowered before.
Don’t get too excited before we know what necro is getting / losing, boys. xD
We lost reliable boon removal which is a huge loss.
It means that, if we corrupt someone with too many boons, we might hit Stability and turn it into fear, when we previously wouldn’t have. Cases where it would previously fear them will still function the same.
So, will the twitch steam start up again or what? Down? Finished with their loved classes, no need to address the lower tier classes. Guardian, we know, is already getting huge changes, making it more powerful per the last stream, while we got nothing really.
Maybe they realized that the necro got hard boned and want to flip a trait around a bit so we feel we are getting attention and don’t notice it’s only a smoke screen to once again cover up our overwhelming flaws. How’s that for negative.
You sound like a fun guy.
The stream is done, they’ll be posting the full thing on youtube soon. I guess they weren’t planning on it taking as long as it would need to, on the first day of E3. Poorly planned, but I think a grand anti-necro conspiracy is a bit silly.
