Wat. 25 stacks of might? Wat.
That’s tested? What do you have to do to get to and maintaining 25 stacks of might?
Sit in stealth, attack, and dodge
Hm, nice idea, I’ve never thought of Sword/Shield…
Sword has a little lower DPS than Axe, but the leap is really nice. The only question is if Flurry is “better” than Eviscerate…
Flurry is the perfect setup for 100b. And final thrust, the #3 skill is very similar to eviscerate under 50%
Looks solid. I would personally use can’t rip mastery with triple cant tips but yours is ok too. Also, use foods! Maintenance oils+whatever
Runes of strength, combined with orrian truffle &meat stew, power of inertia, SA 25, and a superior sigil of strength mean im almost constantly sitting at 25 stacks of might. You can actually do more dmg than you were pre patch

Its still works the exact same with exotic
If its p/d then yeah if say rampager. But your build has s/d

What damaging condition are you even applying that make you think rampaged is worth it? All i can see is poison. That means means it would go from 94 DPS to ~200 DPS. But your direct dmg will be much worse. Do you really have to ask if thats worth it?
Ive tried a similar build, but with 0/6/2/6/0 instead. Still get the condi clear (or blind on stealth, i often switch) from SA, but youve also got the extra HP and dodges from acro. I used assassins reward and life steal food/sigils to make up for the loss of shadows rejuvenation
If you need an escape bring JI, Sw, GS, and traveler runes. If your a norn bring the snow leopard elite since guard racials are meh
If it was that simple you’d see alot more meditation guards in the wild, but good luck finding them outside of the Obsidian Sanctum dueling area :p
Im really struggling to see how its not that simple?
Or making your own personal guild, with you as the only member, and gaining enough influence for a guild bank
Pretty sure the only way to obtain cavaliers ARMOR is from fracatals. Perhaps ascended crafting. Correct me if i am horribly wrong.
Buy from TP. Maybe karma as well (not sure)
You can trait 25/30/0/15/0 for a few extra dodges and still do lots of DPS. You also get the extra health from acrobatics. Other than that you have pistol whip, black powder, and in a pinch even death blossom. Learn to use active defense instead of using passive defense
Naw. Thief still does plenty of dmg, you just need to change your build. Well guardians are a mix of a magic/melee class. Think deathknights or paladin from WoW. They have lots of bright blue visual effects, as well as lots of access to the “burning” condition
Necros are really good for just running around solo, open world PVE, and pvp as they are naturally extremely tanky with lots of CC. Their class mechanic, death shroud, is essentially a second health bar, with other skills added as well. That said the elementalist is probably more of your standard Mage/caster class.
If you can’t decide you can jump into spvp after you complete your tutorial step (for asurans it would be after you defeat the big golem thing). Just click the crossed swords icon in the top left of your screen and select “enter heart of the mists”. This will instantly level you to 80 and give you all the traits, skills, weapons, and gear that a regular lvl 80 would have so you can see how a certain class plays and judge if you would like it at high levels or not.
For a server its hard to say, with the new mega server system all the zones are really full all the time. You can also temporarily “guest” to other servers for anything PVE related so the only reason you choose a specific server would be if you have friends, or WvW. Tarnished Coast, Blackgate, and Jade Quarry are some of the bigger ones, and Anvil Rock, Kaineng, and Ferguson’s Crossing (my server) are some of the smaller ones

Oh so races don’t really matter that much? mmm ok well thanks for your info I think I know what I wanna do now I may stick around PvE for my first character I never really liked PvP much I could try it but yeah not a huge fan
Yeah races dont matter really at all. Just play what you think looks cool. Since you said your looking at necros/engis/guards and you mainly do PVE, i would suggest a guardian because
1. Theyre really easy to level with
2. Basically the backbone of any group content. A well played guardian can turn the tide of a fight going downhill (applies to pvp and PVE)
3. Necros and engis are very meh for PVE. Other classes can do what they can, and better (PVE only)
4. Asuran guardians look awesome!
The thing is a 0/10/0/30/30 already has tons of condi clear, and if you take ether renewal your almost immune to them. I think orrian truffle & meat stew is actually an awesome food for d/d eles (~10sec of might on dodge)
That is a good food but I think it’s overkill if your going to run either strength or hoelbrak. The wiki says its 5 seconds of might. I havent used that food in a long time so I don’t remember. Hoelbrak setup isn’t for condition clearing it’s for the conditions you can’t clear because of cooldowns or the ones you didn’t dodge.
It is 5 sec base, but with the might and boon duration you can get its ~10 sec (like 8.5 i think) probably is a bit overkill though
What have you played/like in other games? Would your primary focus be PVE, pvp, or WvW?
Not sure if you know this, but your race has absolutely 0 effect on your character other than looks. Race doesn’t make you run faster, or do more dmg, or give you more health, its only looks. On a related note, all the racial skills are made deliberately worse than class skills, so that people dont have to choose a specific race.
The colleges dont really do anything other than if you want to plan a backstory for your character, and i think it might affect some of your personal story as well. In general, just choose the things you think your character would probably do.
Here are just some general game tips:
Firstly, there is a huge difference between the combat here and the combat in WoW and most other MMOs. A few things of note:
The combat in this game is much more action-oriented- you can avoid attacks by strafing and dodging as you fight, and using skills to counter enemy attacks. It’s more important to avoid attacks than to heal them.
There is no healer/tank/DPS trinity. Everyone is responsible for their own survival, for DPSing the enemy, for coordinating support and control to make fights more manageable.
Your success in this game depends largely on your skill as a player, rather than your gear.
I highly recommend giving this a read: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/players/GW2-Combat-system-101-Guide/first
In addition, GW2 is highly unlike other games in many other respects. The game’s meant to be more of a journey- you take your time and enjoy the process of leveling, explore to your heart’s content, and when you hit 80, there aren’t tiers of raids and gear to chase one after the other. You pretty much find what you enjoy doing and do it.

You can get it through whatever it says when you mouse over it
Naw. Dagger main hand still does plenty of dmg, you just need to change your build. Because ferocity
In SPvP everyone gets boosted to lvl 80 with normalized health, stats and gear and all traits unlocked. It doesn’t matter if your warrior is lvl 20 or lvl 80, in SPvP it will be exactly the same. What you are wearing wearing from PvE makes no difference.
Open your PvP Build tab and customize your PvP traits, runes and sigils from there.
As long as you have your traits unlocked from your profession trainer you are on even ground with the lvl 80s
Profession trainers are gone buddy
Actually no. Buddy
Time traveler? No hes just a vampire
Its not really perma evasion at all. Its just as a warrior many of your abilities have long Cast times and obvious animations. Combined with skilled usage of infiltrators return and positioning yeah it can be basically impossible to hit these thieves.
But make a thief and try playing this “perma-dodge” build. Its much harder than it looks
I know you can get the legion are harpoon off the TP. All the lionheart weapons can be found in vigil keep, right across from the bank
What runes should I be looking into for armor and weapons? Right now I just stick to Air in my sword and accuracy/force into pistol and fire in my sb. I’m pretty lost with what to put into armor, though.
I saw that Nika’s set has a full superior infiltrators rune set. That seems pretty nice. And that looks like a good gear set to pick up.
Scholar or strength runes
30/30/0/0/10 full zerker/scholar runes. Use smoke screen and shadow refuge to skip any trash mobs, D/D for bosses. Watch videos on YouTube to learn
0/3/0/0/1 then just build from there
I meant trinks. As in trinkets. kitten autocorrect :P
Here’s a thread discussing hybrid in engis. 2300 power, 2300 condi dmg, and 50% crit chance with 20k health and 2500 armor (with lots of protection)
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/engineer/HGH-might-stacking-power-vs-condi
The runes in those builds are outdated however, for now use full aristocrat runes or strength runes
(edited by Carpboy.7145)
I would definitely have some form of might stacking though as your power and condition dmg are quite low
Nades, pistols, bombs, toolkit, are all great for condi
For PVE yes pure berserker is best. Traits should be 30/30/0/0/10 for max DPS as well. Use d/d for bosses (CnD→BS→1 auto chain→repeat) and Sw/p for trash mobs (black powder OP). For utilities, smokescreen pretty much never leaves my bar. For your other 2 slots signet of agility, shadow refuge, shadow step, scorpion wire for pulling, assassin signet, are all good.
For armor/weapons/trunks exotics are perfectly fine for now. Ascended armor really isn’t needed unless your doing fractals 40+. All exotics of the same level and star type (ie berserkers, knights, Valkyrie, rabid) will have the exact same stats as any other exotic in the game. It doesn’t matter how you acquire it, as long as theyre the same level. People get t3 for the looks, not the stats
Gw2skills.net
There is no real optimal way now, as everything now has the same trade off. However might stacking is very powerful right now
With 30 trickery mug is great. But i wouldnt say “necessary”
Not sure why this is in necro forums as it has nothing to do with necros….
Guards could be might stacking kings with this and strength runes
Here is some advice from the thief forum. There’s no way to get back the crit dmg you had pre patch. Its completely out of the question. But what you can do to get equal dmg from before ferocity is increase the base dmg of your attacks. With higher base dmg you don’t need as much of a multiplier on critical hits, as the base is already fairly high. So how do you ramp up the base dmg? Mightstacking. Aka strength runes. Im not sure how this would work for guardians as you guys desperately need some sort of speed boost, but you can always use the moa feathers for that. Let me know if this helps
You may just be having problems with spvp in general, as players there are almost always much more experienced with their class and more skilled. It can be rough adjusting your first few times going in. But all you can do is practice
When i first saw this thread pop up a couple days ago i was sceptical. I thought there was no way to do the same dmg you could be doing pre patch. But i was looking at it wrong. I was trying to figure out ways to get extra ferocity for survivability stats, but there is no way. However with might stacking you don’t need the crit dmg as much because the base dmg of the attack is much much higher. After running the math ill actually be hitting harder than i was pre patch. I also decided to run with orrian truffle stew, and power of inertia so im also getting 2 stacks of might for every dodge as well. Since d/x doesn’t typically have any vigor but uses wild strike for extra endurance the +40% increased endurance refill rate, which normally is canceled out by vigor, is also simply amazing. With a sigil of strength as well ill be able to sit on 25 stacks of might once the fight gets going. Now just to drop 60g for runes…luckily i still have a few tormented skins sitting in my bank to sell…
I really hope this doesn’t become common knowledge as i would hate for Anet to nerf or change this
Great for zergs, trash for roaming. Same with any profession. You can do a mix of soldiers and zerker for roaming though
What I run is similar. But has a different twist and is much much cheaper.
Mine has more emphasis on damage and might stacking, yours has much more emphasis on condition immunity. Both are good
GS, Sw/Wh, and signet of rage
There is no difference other than looks
